Whoever offers the most shit gets the carriers. All the older carriers are still pretty decent too; they'll probably need to be modernised with steam catapults and structural reworks and the like as they were historically (or proposed to be), so they're alternatives.

Older carriers will do just fine for Spain.

I've got four Illustrious-class carriers up for sale. I would sell Argus, because it's so damn old, but I'm going to give it to Pakistan when it's released. Any old ships that aren't sold are going to be dumped with newly-created colonies.

The original carriers were conversions of battleship or cruise liner hulls. You'll have less hanger space than a conventional carrier, but much thicker armour.

Béarn (the French WW2 carrier) was a converted Normandie-class battleship. But they weren't really used much, as naval capital warfare was focused mostly on battleships pre-war and entirely on carriers post-war, and most of the battleships were sunk or scrapped between 1945 and 1950 as people couldn't afford conversions.

I'm sorry but anti-ship missiles aren't in production yet. You'll have to wait for 1958 before the Soviets get their first, IIRC.

Because everyone is willing to pay. I know roughly what I'm doing here. I need to shed carriers for when my Maltas finish, and so I'm doing that.

And if the UK even thought about doing this, they would dropped from the Allies and considered an enemy state. The US would fund the opposition and the CIA would attempt to eliminate the ruling party.

This idea is so ridiculous, so nonsensical, the fact that it is being accepted it makes me question the quality of the RP.
