Rodimus Prime raced through the hallways of the Decagon towards the command center. When he stumbled inside, Ultra Magnus and Starscream were waiting, watching a monitor intently.

"What's the situation?" the Autobot leader panted, leaning against a console as he caught his breath.

"There's a hostage situation in the Hall of Records," Ultra Magnus reported. "A group of Decepticons snuck inside and seized the building. Over a hundred civilians are trapped inside."

"They're threatening to kill five hostages every hour unless we agree to their demands," Starscream added.

"What are their demands?" Rodimus asked.

Starscream's optics narrowed. "They want you to meet with them...alone."

Outside the Hall of Records:

"I want all exits blocked off! Only certified personnel getting in and out." Blues yelled out. As much as he hated it, he had to wait for his superiors to arrive. Normally he would have stormed in and taken the criminals by surprise, but today was odd. Something didn't sit right with him. He looked to the other members of Gamma Team: Rock, Roll, and Rush. All good fighters, but they did slow him down some times. Except for Rush. He then caught sight of Quickdraw. Once a foe, Rock had convinced him to switch sides and become a peacekeeper.

"So whats going on?" Quickdraw asked.

"Hostage Situation, the want to talk to Rodimus."

"Risking death for a conversation? Must be important or stupid."

"My vote is the latter. Take up a position somewhere with your-..." Blues trailed off. "Say where is your team?"

"Off doing something else. Besides, don't really need em for this. Any clue of the hostages?"

"Heard something about a psychiatrist stuck in there, can't recall the name."

Swerve stood amongst all of the hostages, he was extremely hard to see due to the fact that he was shorter than everyone else, "The one day I leave the My First Blaster back at the bar, I'm held hostage." he thought to himself as he tried to get a peak at exactly who was holding them hostage. Once he did, he was surprised, a bunch of generic Decepticons, only five, though. Swerve looked around, he saw Sweep and Rung, or was it Wrung? Maybe Rang? Eh, he'll remember eventually. He called out to the cons "Hey! What's the meaning of all of this?"

One of the Decepticons, Sonic, shot a glare at Swerve.

"Quiet, you!" he barked, kicking Swerve in the face. "Did I give you permission to speak?"

Rodimus drove up to Blues's unit, with Prowl following close behind.

"I came as soon as I could," Rodimus said as he transformed to robot mode. "So these 'cons want to see me?"

"Quiet, you!" he barked, kicking Swerve in the face. "Did I give you permission to speak?"

"I came as soon as I could," Rodimus said as he transformed to robot mode. "So these 'cons want to see me?"

"Apparently sir. No clue on what, but I think it would be best to just storm in and take em out. Nice clean shots, and no one has to die."

"They'd get a cell, and we'd get some time to relax. Besides, it's probably just some nonsense about how they feel oppressed. If they were oppressed, would they have guns?"

Inside the Hall of Records:

Rung made his way over to Swerve. " Are you alright?"

"But if we storm in, there's the possibility that a lot of hostages will be caught in the crossfire," Rodimus replied. "And I'm not going to take that risk."

"So you're going to agree to their demands?" Prowl asked. "That's nonsense! We don't negotiate with those...savages! I agree with Blues, we should storm the building!"

"I'll go in there and see what they want," Rodimus stated. "I'd prefer to resolve this peacefully. But, to appease you two, we can use your idea as a backup plan. If negotiations go sour, I'll call you in. Deal?"

"But if we storm in, there's the possibility that a lot of hostages will be caught in the crossfire," Rodimus replied. "And I'm not going to take that risk."

"Roger, I'll get the snipers and men into position. If any of them so much as twitch wrong, we'll storm in."

Swerve said "Alright, alright. I'll be quiet already, mr. librarian. sheesh, he's loud." he then looked around at the other bots "How are only four losers holding so many people hostage?" he thought to himself.

"We won't be losers after we get what we want!" one of the Decepticons, Boom, interjected.

"Which begs the question...what do you want?" Rodimus Prime asked, his voice echoing through the large room as he entered it.

Swerve said "Rodimus, just the bot I needed, actually, I was expecting the Wreckers to burst in, but you're cool, too." a grey and green Seeker, Skyguy, said "We want to be known, we're tired of people never knowing our names and never remembering them. We have names for a reason!" a Vehicon, Racer, said "Yeah, wherever I go, everyone keeps calling me Steve! Do I look like a Steve to you?"

"And my name's Sonic!" Sonic added. "And my bro here is Boom!"

"So...let me get this straight..." Rodimus said. "You took 100 people hostage because you're mad that people don't remember your names?"

Racer said "Not just that, we're tired of being treated as second rate citizens, disposable. All because I'm a Vehicon, nobody bothers to remember my name and people always push me around. Primus, some people even think I'm a mindless drone just because there are thousands of others who look just like me." Skyguy said "Same with me."

Rodimus contemplated the Genericons' words. "All of those are valid concerns."

He looked around the room at all the hostages. "Let these people go and I'll do all I can to make sure that get the proper treatment you deserve as citizens of Cybertron."

Above Iacon

Broadside and his drones were patrolling the skies above Iacon when over the intercom, Broadside heard about a hostage situation in the Hall of Records. It was time for Broadside and his drones to take action. Broadside contacted Prowl over the intercom "Prowl, this is Broadside, I'm coming in to provide support. I will combine into Salvo and blast these punks to Unicron on Rodimus' order."

Prowl tapped his comm. "Rodimus is currently inside trying to negotiate with the hostage takers. If he gives the order or we hear gunshots, we're going in."

"Copy that. I'll still combine just in case." Said Broadside as he combined with his drones into Salvo. With Salvo's extra firepower and strength, he will be able to blast any enemies to oblivion.

As the combined Autobot Salvo flew toward the library a much smaller figure zoomed in to intercept him. It's altmode resembled some kind of drone or personal gyrocopter and its bright yellow and white paint scheme made it highly visible against the Iacon skyline but as it reached its final approach it slowed considerably to match the speed of the massive combiner and then transformed into an autobot that was smaller than even Broadside's drones. The small and lightwieght autobot wouldn't even burden the combiner in the least as it dropped onto Salvo's back between his shoulder blades and easily scampered up to the much more massive transformer's shoulder where it casually took a cross legged seat, "Hey big guy! Maybe you should cool your jets huh? You certainly could reduce all four of those goons to scraps but you'd reduce the whole library and everyone in it with those cannons of yours."

Massive brawn and powerful fireblasts weren't the only ways to solve problems, especially in a hostage situation, "I say we let the boss handle this one robro, what about you?" he patted Salvo on the back of the head as if he were some kind of supermassive pet.

"But if it goes skids up," things so often went skids up, "I got an idea that you might like."

"We've got nothing to lose," Boom added. "So let's do it."

Sonic approached Rodimus. "I think we've reached a consensus."

"Well Salvo ol' friend," he leaned closer to the combiner's auditory sensors and for a moment considering raising the volume of his speech but decided he didn't want to get mashed hard enough to run him into a spring so he kept a normal voice, "If Rodimus's negotiations go skids up you make a commotion on the left side of the building and I'll sneak in on the right side, arm Swerve with my blaster, and then me, him, and the boss will chase them toward for you to turn into so much slag!"
