Eh...I don't think so. I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the common fanfic ideas like that.

I'm wondering because I'm not sure what rank my character (rank: 4/10) would be, though I'm inclined to say sergeant because there's only 3 ranks below it so it would be the third rank from private or fourth lowest rank.

Edit: Perhaps from firepower given that his alt-form has become out of date by around 90-100 years by 2050.

Bio: Tread started off in law enforcement even before the first war between Autobots and Decepticons started serving in the roll of a riot and tacticle response officer. He always possessed a personal honor code that he never deviates from and is how he defines himself. He was considered by hs precinct to be a model officer, never crossing the line between work and his personal life, never abusing his authority on or off duty, and never being cited for using too much force in any situation.
His steller service record got him into a task force charged with investigating and thwarting the activities of early decepticon activists sponsored by the council. As tensions between the council and those that resisted their rule grew stronger and Megatron began his rise to power and labled his group the Decepticons the council branded them as terrorists and Tread found himself being involved in more and more questionable operations. Finally within a megacycle of the outset of the war he was directly ordered by his superiors to find evidence of Decepticon leanings from members of an organization providing aid to the innocent victims of the street fights between Autobot and Decepticon supporters in the city of Iacon. Tread failed to find any such evidence and when he filed his report was given orders to make up the evidence and arrest them as terrorists anyway. The always honorable Tread refused the order and quit the police force.
Once he saw how corrupt the autobot council had become Tread was easily convinced to join the Decepticon cause and embraced Megatron's teachings of rule by the strongest and defending Cybertron through the aggressive use of force. For the first half of the civil war Tread served as a loyal soldier but eventually his personal sense of honor forced him to rethink his allegiances once he was confronted with the way Decepticon prisoners were experimented upon or executed and how non-combatants were treated as nothing more than slaves or chattel in Decepticon society. Once he began to realize the depraved acts of many of his cohorts Tread's sense of honor prevented him from remaining with the Decepticons any longer and he deserted. He surrendered himself to a group of autobots lead by Optimus (before he was a prime) and begged them for a quick execution as punishment for the things he had let happen to his fellow Cybertron Citizens. Instead of an execution he was granted a pardon instead when the Autobots were moved by his sincere contrition and with his new lease on life he joined the Autobot cause.
He was one of the Autobots that was on the Ark when it crashed on Earth but was tossed from the crash site only to be found years later after the EDC had been founded but before the construction of Autobot City. Tread is a strong and tough combatant but is only about average intelligence for a transformer. His personal code of conduct includes doing no (or little) harm to non-combatants and surrendered opponents but he feels and shows no remorse for any sort of punishment he heaps upon his enemies. He still believes that the strongest among his kind should rule but he has learned that strength means more than just physical prowess and raw firepower, and is thus entirely loyal to Optimus Prime (and the UCA by proxy). Since coming to Earth Tread has found himself very interested in humanity's rules of warfare and codes of conduct and has become infatuated with the tenants of Bushido and Chivalry.
Weapons/Abilities: Tread uses a particle cannon that fires a continuous beam of energy for several seconds and doubles as a powerful and brutal mace for close combat. He is also armed with four guided missiles which he usually fires in pairs. He has a powerful ground to air sensor package that allows him to detect the presence of unwary flyers from beyond visual range and engage them with his missiles.

I don't think they know about them yet. Really it's just going to be a briefing on what's been going on with the Decepticon situation.

I am planning on creating a Decepticon character, but I am currently having writer's block when it comes to a backstory and how to properly insert her into the narrative.
