Still working out the kinks, I just came up with it out of boredom while on a plane.
1934: The Autobots discover a remote organic planet known as Earth that is rich in Energon. Optimus Prime and a hand-picked crew of Autobots set off in the Ark to scout out the planet. Megatron finds out about this and the Decepticons give chase in the Nemesis. After engaging each other in Earth orbit (an event which is observed by multiple Earth governments, including the US, Britain, France, Nazi Germany, Japan, and the Soviet Union), the Ark crashes in the Pacific Northwest after being boarded by the Decepticons, while the Nemesis crashes in the Pacific Ocean. Nobody is really able to investigate, however, due to the rising tensions leading up to WWII.
1984: A volcanic eruption reactivates the Ark’s computer, Teletraan 1, which repairs and reactivates the Autobots and Decepticons in stasis lock onboard. For the next 30 years the two factions will battle on Earth.
1993: The Earth Defense Command (EDC), a special branch of the UN, is founded to encourage greater cooperation between Earth and the Autobots. It officially appoints the Autobots’ human allies (the Witwicky family, Chip Chase, and GB Blackrock) as ambassadors.
2001: Construction begins on Autobot City, which is finished in 2004.
2014: All the stuff with Unicron happens. The bots and cons team up to destroy him. Hot Rod saves the day and opens the Matrix after stealing it back from Unicron's Herald, Sideways, and becomes Rodimus Prime. Afterwards, the Autobots and Decepticons decide to make peace. Optimus and Megatron decide that Cybertron is better off without them, so they leave together to explore the stars.
And I've changed my mind about the present year. I'm thinking more along the lines of the 2050s now. The year won't really become relevant until the stuff on Earth starts, though.

Sounds cool. Maybe humans find Cybertron?

So, what happened to ol' Sideways? I like him, and I feel he may return.

Bio:
Whizbang crash landed in the middle of nowhere in Kenya,Aftica, Earth in 1890 A .D. and operated under the guise of a safari jeep. When the humans decided to send it to the scrap heap to be used as metal for British tanks in the First World War, whiz-bang became a primitive tank instead of allowing himself to be destroyed. Throughout the great war he became the next best tank as they came out, no one who might of seen him reported it. When the First World War ended he was left behind in the fields and after a long time wound up in a museum in Germany. He became a test vehicle for the nazis to train tank drivers during the first year of the nazis reign. As the war dragged on they got newer vehicles and no longer needed him so he upgraded his form to the next best thing, the real thing. He operated as a tank in the SS divisions throughout the war until the end when (now a tiger II tank) he was no longer needed following his participation against the soviets. He was sent to a museum in Moscow. During his time there the only news he got of the outside world was when the staff read the newspaper.
When the government transitioned to democracy he was sent back to Germany. When he felt the presence of other cybertronians he rejoiced but remained as he was. When the cybertronian-earth treaty was created he finally made himself known. He made his way back to his ship, repaired it with the now available materials and returned to cybertron, a changed robot.
Weapons/Abilities:
Weapons: Tank gun, pistol, spade and trench knife, chemical (ex. Smoke, cybertron equivalent to mustard gas/ rust sand emp grenades), whiz bang, pineapple grenades,

I'd recommend changing one of his altmodes- turning into a King Tiger and a biplane is pretty difficult to believe, so make him a different plane. Also jeeps didn't exist in 1890, and having him make the jump from being a car to a tank is a pretty big leap. I'd say a better initial altmode would be a train. Other than that, approved.

Ok then. Train it is. Would a b-17 Flying Fortress work instead of the bi-plane?
