What this is:

This is going to be an RP in which you are in the court of Lord Eldon Estermont. The majority of this RP will take place on Estermont Island, a small island off the coast of the Stormlands. You will be able to create your own character, because of the lack of lore for the place, you have relative freedom. I will be controlling Lord Eldon, his son Gunthor Estermont is playable.

I will not limit you when it comes to the RP. If you manage it, you can depose me. You can try to convert the island to R'hillor. The possibilities are near endless. I will try to make this as enjoyable as possible.

Mind you, there is no technological advancement in this world. There is a strong aristocratic tradition in Westeros, so republics are looked down upon by commoner and lords alike. Greed and ambition are perhaps the greatest traits one can have in this world.

Rules:

1. I am all powerful, when I make a final judgment it is final.
2. No dragons
3. No major houses
4. You must be a human
5. There will be a limit on positions in court
6. No one liners, at least two sentences per post. No need to waste time, enjoy the RP and immerse your self.
7. I will determine the Timescale and manage events.
8. Understand that there will be spoilers.

Court Positions:

House Estermont:

Stephen's Quarters

Stephen awoke from yet another dreamless sleep. The essence of nightshade he used to sleep was running out and he couldn't use it to often. He hauled himself to his feet and walked to his robes. He threw the scarlet red gown over himself and brought the hood over his ears. With a rub of his eyes, he set about making a small fire in the brazier in the corner of his room.

Stephen lit the fire and thanked R'hllor for answering his prayer as he did every morning. It had become ritual, similar to his evening prayers for the dawn to return. The prayer was always relatively short and he rubbed out the fire quickly. He prepared himself to go break his fast, but stopped before the door. Beside the thick wooden door hung the sigil of House Brontwy. With a deep breath, Stephen braced himself.

Stephen always felt an outcast. He feigned ignorance to the whispers and giggles about him. Yet this was the only place he was accepted. Stephen remembers little of his home. He remembers his father's stern and angry face. His brother's snide remarks and threats. The other people of Estermont knew little of him, and Stephen liked to keep it that way.

Somehow, he found himself Master of Sword. Stephen's father practically beat him into a fighter. The other council members he did not trust. Trust didn't come easily to Stephen. He set himself down to eat some salted bread and wine. Wondering if the Lord would call a council meeting, he began to eat.

Keep Estermont

Lord Eldon awakes, his ears were greeted by the familiar sound of crashing waves. The salty air that he'd grown to love pleased him, he felt at home. He wished he could stay in bed for a while longer, but duty called. He sat up and looked around his room, the stone walls never change. He felt comfort from the familiarity.

Eldon removed his fine Tyroshi covers, and took to his feet. He dressed himself in comfortable silk shirt and his favorite leather leggings. His personal servant gave him a shave. He fastened the Blade of the Shores to his side and made his way for his throne room, the guards saluted him as he entered.

Lord Eldon sat on his Ironwood throne. His servant brought him a tray with bread, cheese, and wine on it, this was one of Eldon's favorite breakfast meals. Eldon sent his servant to bring in anyone who needed to talk to him.

Cian, Lady Dowager

Cian liked to look back on it all sometimes, she had been married sixty years ago. She had been a simple fisherman's daughter, yet she had been thrust from that quite and simple life into this world of debauchery and intrigue. Sometimes she missed those days, she could still recall how to mend a net, how to filet a fish. It was usually in the early mornings when the Dowager thought back to that simple and innocent life, some would call it nostalgia, but she was to proud to admit that.

It was also during these mornings when she resented this place, when she resented her late husband, when she resented the whole House of Estermont - she hated how she had been coerced into this life, how she had lost that innocence, how she had lost her family. She would quash these thoughts as soon as a servant came to wake her. The servants she all had were incredibly loyal, she had personally screened them herself after her husband had died, she knew they had been spying on her for him. That lying, cheating, bastard - she hated every bone that was in his grave.

A servant came and roused her, Cian got dressed, ate a bland and simply disgusting breakfast and then was off on her way. She was the High Almoner - basically a useless position her nephew had stuck her in to sideline her. When her brother-in-law was Lord of Estermont she had ruled the household, every servant had answered to her. She was glad she had been so conservative with her wealth, it got her bye.

Cian made her way through the village, escorted by a guard who she had known since he was a child - he was very loyal to her. As she walked through the village people moved out of her way, others muttered prayers or the like. She was infamous in the village, but she was also respected, as she was in charge of giving out charity to those who needed it. She enjoyed tremendous support within the lower echelons of Westermont society.

Her house was just outside the village, it overlooked the sea. It was a rather sizable house, and nicely but simply furnished. The great thing was she had paid very little for it, she had just built upon the house she grew up in, which was already fairly large. Having inherited it after her parents died and her sisters had been married off. Her husband had paid for the renovations, that was the one good thing she could remember about him, he was free with his money, while Cian kept hers in a tight purse.

She made her way to the Keep, where her nephew resided. After entering and being escorted to a waiting room she awaited Eldon, she had the spending reports of the High Almoner Office. She had handed out quite a few large donations to some struggling families, mainly fishermen. She didn't care if he got mad at her, he rarely did. And if he did she would simply ignore him, or fight back, she was quick with her wits despite her age. She waited patiently as she knew to do, soon a servant brought her in to the throne hall.

"Nephew, I have the quarterly spending reports of High Almoney. I would appreciate it if you would review them as quick as possible, I have little time today."

Laudion's Quarters

Laudion drunkenly stood from his pile of papers. He had slept almost none the night before, and he could barely see. Stumbling to the window, he thrust it open and quickly inhaled the salty air, waking him up. He put on his clothing, and put his knife into his cloak. He could never be too careful. Tidying his papers, he quickly ate some bread and fish from the night before, which had begun to become stale, and opened his door. He stalked down the hall, looking to his left and right for adversaries. He was surrounded by enemies, and he knew it.

Keep Estermont

Eldon took a sip of wine as his aunt walked in.

"Nephew, I have the quarterly spending reports of High Almoney. I would appreciate it if you would review them as quick as possible, I have little time today."

Eldon rose and took his aunt's report and took to his throne. He ordered one of his guard to fetch a seat for his aunt while he reviewed the report.

He wasn't too pleased. "it seems there's been a rise of poverty. I want to you take 500 silver and give it to the merchants, tell them to buy fish at 30 copper instead of 15. That should help them, keep it up.

Is there anything else you need?"

Dining Quarters

Stephen had his teeth sunk into some bread when he saw Lord Laudion in the corner of his eye, surprising him. Laudion was Master of Whispers and Stephen trusted him least. He oftimes felt he has misjudged Laudion, but due to his position it's only natural he's untrustworthy. Lord Laudion seemed to be drunk, or ill from his previous nights drinking.

Stephen turned to face him. The first thing Stephen saw was the knife in his cloak. Stephen firmly believed drunk men shouldn't carry blades. Laudion was quiet when he moved and Stephen would have died of a heart attack had he been older. He wasn't holy though. Even for a heathen Stephen found his faith lacking.

Stephen turned back to his food silently. He had plans to see the Lord at some point. He drained his chalice of the red wine and continued eating. Before long, crumbs covered the front of his robes.

Dining Quarters

Laudion shuffled through the chamber, trying to walk at a steady pace. He had spent so much time trying to root out the spy network over the last week that he had trouble performing automatic functions, like walking. He saw Stephen sitting at a table, and tried to keep his gaze ahead. 'Damn, I didn't conceal my knife well enough.' He thought. He needed to be more observant in the morning. As he walked out the door and into the blinding sunlight, he adjusted his knife. He had to be presentable to the people of the island. Even as a spymaster, he could not allow the villagers to look down on him. As slid the blade into his cloak, his fingers brushed a piece of paper. The special persons report!
He suddenly changed his course of direction, over to the keep. He had hoped to look at the price of wares in the market and see if the downward trend of prices would continue, but he needed to report to the Lord Estermont. He suspected the king looked down on him as he came from outside the island, and he regretted his stupid mistake of not giving the report earlier.

Holdfast

Tiberius Ironhand, head of House Ironhand and Baron of the Ironhand Holdfast, sat at a table with his wife and his children. His wife, Myria Ironhand sat to his left, while his son and daughter sat to his right. His son, Jason Ironhand, was 7 years of age and was a rather small boy, in contrast to his father who was a mammoth of a man. His daughter, Lyria Storm, was 18 years of age. Lyria had come to be a part of the Ironhand family in a manner that differs from one that her surname would suggest. While it is true that she is a bastard child, she was not one born from deviances by Tiberius. Instead, she was born to a nobleman who's name is unknown, and abandoned by her mother at the age of 2. It was at this time that Myria came across the young girl and took her in. That was how Lyria came to be a member of the Ironhand family.
As they sat at the table, they ate a meal of bread and meat and engaged in trivial conversation. However, Tiberius's mind was on other things.

Several days prior, a small band of Ironborn men had come to Holdfast in what appeared to be a rouge raiding expedition. The raid itself had been dealt with quickly and without great trouble. Several men had been injured, but the Ironborn had died at the edge of Ironhand steel. The raid had been disorganized and of little consequence, but the fact that it was undertaken was a problem on its own. Fortunately, it appeared that the attack had been the result of foolish individuals attempting to bolster their own wealth and not a sanctioned attack by House Greyjoy. However, it still was a cause for concern and he had informed Eldon immediately. However, Eldon wished to meet in two days time to discuss the matter, and now that time had elapsed. After Tiberius finished his meal, he left Holdfast and proceeded to travel to the Keep Estermont, a journey which lasted several hours do to the slow pace he took in completing it.

House Ironhand was a loyal Vassal to House Estermont and Tiberius was a stout supporter of Lord Eldon Estermont. House Ironhand had stood behind House Estermont for nearly a century and they had never been more closely in line with each other than they were now. Tiberius had fought for House Estermont for 20 years, at first as a squire and then as a Knight, and even now, despite being 34 years of age, was still considered one of the Houses most formidable warriors. Tiberius himself was still Knight, in service to House Estermont. The position as Baron of Holdfast was one of the rewards he had been given for his years of service to the house. Tiberius's late father had also been a Knight, as had his father before him.

As Tiberius's travel came to a conclusion, he approached the Keep. He was allowed in by the guards, who immediately recognized him and allowed him in. He proceeded to walk to the throne room, stopping short of entering. He informed the guard that he wished to speak with Lord Eldon as soon as possible, regarding important matters.

Keep Estermont

Lord Eldon was stunned to see Laudion so unstable. He stood and rushed to aid Laudion; "Bloody hell, what happened to you?"

Eldon gestured to his guards, four men rushed to Laudion and Eldon. They escorted Luadion to a chair. "Who did this to you?" asked Eldon, ready to signal the guard to action.

Laudion handed the slip of paper to the Lord. "Detailed here are a group of people who are of interest to me in the terms of criminal activity." His eyes glazing over, he suddenly snapped to attention. "That should be all, if I'm not mistaken."

Throne Room Entrance

Stephen had brushed the breadcrumbs from his gown and proceeded to see Lord Estermont. To his surprise, he found Lord Ironhand before the room. Stephen had taken his sweet time getting to the court. He visited the local village for longer than he really should have.

He bowed before Lord Tiberius. "My Lord, I had not expected to see you here. I suspect the salt water will bring more mist over our shores so I suspect your stay won't be long?" Stephen hated this most tedious of task most. Small talk. Stephen deemed idle chatter counter-productive and knew he could be spending his time better.

Tiberius Ironhand was much stronger than Stephen, completely shadowing his figure. Stephen thought the man was simpler than he so paid him only false courtesies. Despite this, Stephen found Lord Ironhand one of the more likeable people in his life. His practicality was a trait Stephen admired and his loyalty made him slightly more trustworthy.

Stephen stood up and didn't even talk to the guard. He was often in and out the throne room. He sat on the bench outside and neatly folded his ruffled robes so they were less creased.

Cian, Lady Dowager

Cian nodded when her nephew asked her to take the silver to the fish merchants, obviously she could have payed for it herself, but she didn't dare tell anyone of the massive horde of wealth she had stashed away in her estate. She was glad that Eldon was going to support the fishermen, coming from that background she knew all to well how crafty the merchants were, her father had died trying to make a decent living, yet the merchants had always devalued the fish, sometimes he would return home with only 5 Copper.

"No nephew that is all."

In rushed Laudion as she was about to depart, honestly she never cared for the man. She didn't really care for most of her nephew's company - the people she met on her Almoney tours spoke in hushed tones about him, but she had yet to form a true opinion on him - which was strange as Cian had an opinion on everything.

She smiled at him, or at least attempted to smile. She departed the Throne Room and on her way she saw the Baron Ironhand, most likely going to talk about the Ironborn raid with Eldon. Cian had her way about knowing these kind of things, it was how she kept tabs on how the court here operated. Though she wasn't as involved in the intrigue as before, she still was a 'force of nature' when it came to house politics.

She never knew what to think of the Baron Ironhand, she had quite liked his father, a noble man if there ever was one - yet his son was like a puppy, always following her nephew around, doing his bidding - a little too obedient, she would appreciate a knight like him working for her, but under he nephew he was dangerous.

Before going to the markets she returned to her home and gathered a few bodyguards - they would be needed. Heading down to the market she brought the silver and the bodyguards to the market. Talking to the merchants most of them seemed to agree, one merchant - a man who she had heard about in certain circles refused to go along with the new plan. Cian and him where quarreling intensely, however she breathed, she knew exactly what to do with people like this.

She motioned for her bodyguards to grab the merchant. A few hours later he stumbled out of a fishing storehouse, smelling of fish guts, his face was bloodied and his arms were bruised. He walked to the Lady Dowagers home, there she was waiting on a patio eating her lunch.

"Lady Dowager, I apologize for our earlier quarrel, you and Lord Eldon are correct in your meditations, poverty is a big problem and we merchants should be buying at a higher price."

She smiled.

"Good. Would you like some eel soup?"

Keep Estermont

Eldon responded Laduion; "very well, I will look over these reports with great consideration, but for now. You must get some sleep, a good meal too." he dismissed laudion.

Eldon had noticed that both Stephan and Tiberius Ironhand had entered the room. Eldon was relieved to see Tiberious, a most loyal vassal. Stephan's presence, however, is peculiar. Stephan's belief in Eastern gods was somewhat troubling, but Stephan nature was the thing that had an impact of Eldon the most. He respected Stephan's skill and his talents in the martial arts, but his detached personality always made him suspicious.

"Good day, what brings you two here?" Eldon said while walking back to his throne.

Outside the Throne Room

Tiberius watched as Stephen bowed, respectfully nodding in return. Stephen was the Master of Sword, a position of which Tiberius could understand, as opposed to the Master of Whispers. It was also not a position of underhandedness and treachery, which was something that made Tiberius consider Stephen as more trustworthy than some. Tiberius held a level of respect for Stephen, for the man was not a whelp that hid behind others. He knew Stephen was capable of fighting, a man of the sword, not of the vial. However, he also knew that Stephen considered him to be intellectually inferior, and therefore held himself above Tiberius. Of course, this was not something that Tiberius discouraged. While he was more renowned for his ability to end a man's life than he was for his cunning, he still possessed both. The less of people thought of Tiberius, the less of a chance he would be viewed as a threat. "Indeed, I don't intend to stay for a long time, but who knows. I'll be here until I am no longer needed here, regardless of the mist."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lady Dowager exited the throne room. Tiberius's father had the upmost respect for her and Tiberius viewed her with similar respect, although his loyalties resided with her nephew. Tiberius bowed his head in a typical respectful gesture.

Throne Room

Stephen entered with Tiberius and was greeted by Lord Eldon. Stephen respected Eldon somewhat for his love of Justice. He bowed graciously before his Lord. "I have a couple of matters to discuss, my Lord. None of them are urgent though and one should always tend to the real lords first." Still bowing, Stephen slowly slinked off to the side. As he tried to study the two lords, his plans kept getting into his head. All he needed from Lord Eldon was a yes.

Throne Room

Upon being motioned in by the guards Tiberius entered the throne room. Approaching Lord Eldon, Tiberius respectfully bowed to him, in contrast to the respectful nod he typically greeted other Nobles with. Eldon was the Lord of House Estermont, of which House Ironhand was a vassal of. Eldon also was perhaps the person in this world that Tiberius respected most, for the man was one of honor and bravery, principles which Tiberius held in high regard. "Lord Eldon, as you already know, we must discuss the recent incident that occurred at Holdfast. With your permission, I would like to speak in regards to this matter."

Eldon was surprised that Tiberius even asked about discussing the matter, he replied with; "Of course go ahead, such an attack is not to be taken lightly."

Throne Room

"My lord, as you are aware, 2 days ago a small party of Ironborn men attempted a raid on the Holdfast. Their numbers totaled 20, fall too small of a force to take the hold or even cause any significant harassment. All 20 Ironborn were killed, with 7 of our own wounded. We attempted to take some of them alive, but it was not possible. However, the actual raid is of little concern, but rather the implications of this raid. First, we believe these were simply a rogue party of raiders, simply trying to line their own pockets. We found a fisherman's boat washed up onto shore, no bodies, only blood and fishing equipment. We found several valuables that appeared to belong to the fisherman on the raider's corpses. This, along with the fact that while Greyjoy is aggressive and I would not put it past him to lay an attack on us, the raiding party was far too small to be an organized attack, and the attack itself was poorly orchestrated and easily defeated, I am led to believe that this was not an attack sanctioned by House Greyjoy.

However, I can not be certain that it was not sanctioned. It could have been a scouting party, although this is rather unlikely in my own opinion. But if it was a failed scouting attempt, we could be at risk. If, as I believe, this was simply a foolish, non sanctioned raid, then it poses the question of why did they attack us. It would also likely mean that they intend to attack the village, and mistakenly landed at Holdfast. Due to these concerns, I suggest that you increase maritime patrols and place a garrison in the village, should more raiders attack. If I am wrong, and the attack was sanctioned by the Greyjoys, then this would at least give us warning against an impending attack and would give us precious time to ready for attack, although how you handle preparation for this possibility would lie in the domain of the Master of Sword. However, I do believe a garrison in the village and increasing the maritime patrols are the minimum responses."

Docks
Laudion strolled down the docks, looking at wares. He was right. The price of fish had actually fallen. 'Poor families would be happy today.' He thought. He looked around, hoping to find a familiar face. He had spies in the merchant guild, as he called it, and he would have liked a report.

"To be honest Ser Tiberius, I doubt the Greyjoys would do such a thing. The sting of civil war is still fresh. I doubt King Robert would let them get away with raiding within the kingdom. But because you feel it be necessary, I will increase our garrison and arrange patrols. Stephan can handle such a thing; 200 new men and hourly patrols.

I will make sure to send a letter to Lord Renly, he would not stand idly and let the Ironborn raid one of his vassal lords."

"My lord, I agree with you entirely. The Greyjoys are in no position to attack, nor do they posses a reason to do so. I do believe that you are making the correct decision, however. If it was simply a band of looters as I believe, then your measures will nearly eliminate any risk that they pose, if they haven't already been deterred by the fate of the first band. Thank you for listening to my concerns, Lord Eldon."

Throne Room

Stephen had nodded in agreement with Tiberius as he stood to the side. When Lord Eldon gave the order, Stephen could only oblige. 200 men may be difficult to raise and it would be even worse to train them. Thankfully, Stephen had a strategy for hiring new men. You simply have to pay more than fish, which is very cheap currently.

Personally, Stephon didn't think the Greyjoy's fool enough to raid. It would make sense though. If they were to raid a great house, they would be punished severely. Attacking a lesser house and under no banners would be a good distraction or raid strategy. The Greyjoy's lacked any reason though, and we're miles away.

"If that is all Ser Tiberius, I bid you good day."

"Now, what troubles you Stephan?"

Eldon signaled his servant to fetch quill and parchment.
