Time for Murphy vs. Pier the REMATCH.

With Dr White as the biased referee.

Posting for Beijing after dinner.

Don't accept it immediately please, power armor this early would be so unbelievably OP it wouldn't be fun anymore. have it be put on the furthest backburner and leave it until someone gets #rekt for it to be actually researched.

We're not doing mechs yet. I already have plans for them.

Side note, if there's something in XCOM, chances are, that I already have an idea on how to get it in here. I'd like to get mechs in here, but we've existed for no more then half a week of 'IC' team.

Like I said, furthest back burner and forgot until someone (or multiple someones) get brutally killed.
Electroactive polymers and a HAL 5 system would bankrupt ATHENA at this point anyway, so that's one reason for leaving it behind.

I assume the mechs are not as big as Gundam, right?

If they're the same from X-Com, they're probably 9-11 feet tall.

That's about right. Nothing super big either.

I'm torn about making them a whole new class, or having it so people can become one.

I'd say give people training, after all, having Private Piss-pants operate several tons of death probably isn't the best idea.

On the topic of XCOM-style technology advances: Firaxis has confirmed that the canon outcome for XCOM EW is an almost immediately failed Impossible Ironman run, wherein XCOM gets completely routed within the first few months, and never having the opportunity to create new technology based on their findings from alien salvage. :p

Oh, yeah. Go check IGN. The whole basis for XCOM 2 is that XCOM is now an insurgency force that is fighting against a world-spanning hegemony that the aliens have installed over humanity.

[EDIT] Also, Socarux, a 'squaddie'? Calling Chloe a 'squaddie'? There are literally no denotative or connotative meanings associated with that word which could be considered an accurate description of her, and most of them are actually kinda insulting. She would totally beat in Patrick's face if she knew he had thought that. :p

Are you kidding? It's Firaxis, and XCOM. They had their failed experiment with Bureau Declassified, they aren't going to screw this up.

XCOM has always been a game where you're playing the longest possible odds. The canon that Firaxis has established reflects that. I don't see how you can look at that and say "yeah, it's a shit sequel" without knowing anything else about it.

If you go into everything and assume it will suck until proven otherwise, you'll be pleasantly surprised about ~15% of the time. It's what I do and I'm never disappointed.

After actually reading the article in depth, I understand what your saying, they actually went with what I was thinking would happen, in that situation, we fought back but got stomped. By your description I was under the impression that XCom just got fucked, day 2.
