Used to think the Nullarbor Plain was an epic name, then found out that 'Nullarbor' is just latin for 'no trees' :3 So No Tree Plain.
New South Wales is fine - it's no different to New York, and they added "south." But don't forget the Australian Capital Territory, which is almost as boring as the Northern Territory.
