Don't take this wrong, but no. If this were my RP, I would want to have all the new recruits be exactly that: new. They wouldn't know much about fighting, and most certainly wouldn't be expert killers by any stretch of the imagination. And I do think that's what Tri was referring to in the second OP of this thread,

PC's will take the role of a newly applied/volunteen-told cadet. What does this mean? It means that for the most part, I want the Eurekan Experiance to be something totally off the wall to your PC. They, for the most part, should just be your average, everyday kid whose signed or been signed up for something that isn't your average high school.

In my mind, your character breaks that mold waaaay too much, and is too experienced in fighting.

Usually, in an RP like this, you want to have characters who have a ton of room for growth. Otherwise, you're way ahead of everyone else, and that can create tension between players, or even cause problems to the plotline.

That's another reason why I'm leaving it up to Tri. Maybe he has a different line of thinking about this than I do, so I won't intrude on his choice.

The thing is though, he's not really either of those things... he's never handled a firearm before, he's essentially useless in hand to hand combat, and he's only ever killed people by biting them, something that is for the most part impossible to accomplish in actual combat. He's never experienced actual war before, and never had to fight anyone that he couldn't take completely by surprise.

When I read the thing about "pink or light brown hair", I was like "WUT?" Obviously, that was before I found Glovania's app, and now it makes sense.

The thing is though, he's not really either of those things... he's never handled a firearm before, he's essentially useless in hand to hand combat, and he's only ever killed people by biting them, something that is for the most part impossible to accomplish in actual combat. He's never experienced actual war before, and never had to fight anyone that he couldn't take completely by surprise.

FR&R jumped 4 pages today in the OOC. I love the activity in the thread, but I must drop a PTSA, just to cover base, recalling the Commandment of Etiquette: Be post conscious in the OOC.

• Prevent double-posts by rolling them into one. Saves space and is the Green thing to do.
• Try not to add to trains or chains of random posts that cause unnecessary jumps of pages to be added. Too much off topic is not good for my eyesight, cause I have to read it all to filter the need to know, from the lolsorandom.
• If you have the choice between TGing something, and posting in the OOC, go for TG. It gets the msg to its intended target quicker, gets you a faster response and it saves a post.

Speaking of, how much could someone actually learn about the Academy and everything related to the island from research? As in, could someone use, say, Google and learn about the Disciplinary Committee? I'm just trying to decide if Callandra would already know some about these kinds of places here, or if she'll learn about them from observations IC-wise (Either one works for me, I'm just trying to narrow down my options)

In actuality, and for story purposes, the answer is both nope So all player characters would be learning about them through observation.

Thinking with reason, lest through cloak or Gandalf-class wizardry, you can't hide a man-made island twice the size of the British Isles from the world. Ever since its construction began in 2014, most average people have known that something fishy was going on in the North Atlantic. So all of your characters could, potentially, know about Eurekas general existance through vague rumors and I-know-a-guy-who-knows-a-guy stories.

But beyond the basic idea that Ravencroft went and made an island, let only their brainy employees on it, and played hermit kingdom until the present day, there's not much hard evidence to go on. The Institute would have covered its bases well, even if a leak had been let out. Which is why we have this "stranger in a strange land" theme going.
