Venezuela is super gr8
Colombia was federalized under a bunch of kingdoms, but then Venezuela being all sneaky and shit was funding the Republicans in Colombia and that caused a massive shit storm that ended with Argentina intervening and the formation of a bunch of republics and kingdoms as successors to the Granadine Confederation.

And the Granadine Confederation was what?

Colombia.
A South American version of the NGC IIRC.

Bruh you just biased against Russia because we better than you. Russia Stronk. However, IC, I might be more inclined to treat the Scandinavians with some dignity and respect. So long as you don't help Lenin when he gets pushed back North into Karelia (what you think should be Scandinavian)

Karelia should be Scandinavian since it was apart of Finland until the 1939 Winter War. There is no explanation as to why it isn't, I'll talk to Buj about it.

How about we, idk, roleplay for fun instead of trying to win as Russia? I could not give a fuck what you think about me OOCly or ICly.

Calm down dude. I don't think anything badly of you OOCly or ICly man. ;)

I am roleplaying for fun. I obviously don't want to see Russia destroyed (Although no one ever successfully invades all of Russia EVER) but I don't mind if I lose a war or two, assuming you're able to beat me. But Karelia is mine. You want it, when the IC comes, diplomacy is always an option at least the Russian Prime Minister is open to, and the Tsar would probably prefer it first then flat out go to war with you.

Alright good, because I thought you were just trying to annoy me or something, mang.

I'll bring it up in the IC - I do want Karelia, and war would not be a realistic option. Russia has been invaded, successfully, by three groups: The Mongols, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Varangians, but we really don't want to start a war for no realistic reason. We'd pay top-dollar for Karelia, don't get me wrong, but the cost of a war vs purchasing it is astronomically different. Not only that, but we'd move closer to Russia as a friend in the process as well.

Alright then, it'll be lost in the Great Northern War, but negotiations will begin on the Karelian Question.

Credit to Liriena for prrrrretty much all of this.

Generic Info
Nation Name:
- Officially: Empire of the Great Zhen (大真帝国 ; Dàzhēn Dìguó)
- Unofficially: Zhen Dynasty (真朝 ; Zhēn Cháo)
- Ceremonially: All Under Heaven (天下 ; Tiānxià)
Symbols:
Image

Homeland Population: 406,500,000 (estimated)
Imperial Population: N/A
Location/Claims: #50
Capital City: Hangzhou (杭州市)

Government Info
Government Type: Chinese Imperial Monarchy
Brief Explanation of Government: Following the traditions established by the many dynasties that preceded it, the Zhen dynasty's political system remains a veritable paradox of de jure absolutism and de facto ceremonialism.
The Empress or Emperor of China is regarded by the state and its subjects as the Son or Daughter of Heaven, a sovereign whose every word must be treated as divine law, and custom dictates that the Mandate of Heaven is passed down from him or her to his or her firstborn son upon either his death or abdication. The current Empress is extraordinarily powerful, even for an absolute monarch, and her still-sharp mind allows her to remain a highly effective monarch and politician, to the extent that fate and circumstance allow her to.
As far as succession goes, an Emperor's firstborn son is usually the one to be named Crown Prince, but this is not an obligation, and in the past several sovereigns chose second, third or fourth sons, and sometimes even adopted sons, as their heirs when their firstborns were believed to be unfit to rule. If the Emperor or Empress has no sons, daughters are chosen instead. Furthermore, it is an undisputed principle of Chinese scholarship that a sovereign can lose the Mandate of Heaven, in which case anybody worthy, regardless of their social status, may claim the Dragon Throne for themselves and found a new dynasty, thus fulfilling the Chinese dynastic cycle.
The administration of civil and military matters is highly centralized in an increasingly complex bureaucracy in Hangzhou. People of noble birth seldom hold positions of much military or political power, which are instead given to ministers, protectors, inspectors, generals and the sort. Indeed, nobles are often carefully scrutinized and watched by spies and agents of the state, as are some higher-ranking officials. State officials earn their position through a series of examinations inspired in the principles of Confucianism. Although the Emperor is the commander in chief of the military, most forces are managed by an array of generals, tacticians and strategists. The empire has several standing armies permantently placed under the control of a single commander, and in wartime volunteers and conscripts from the surrounding areas are rectruited to serve as reinforcements for the main armies.
The Emperor's cabinet consists of Three Excellencies and Nine Ministers:
- The Prime Minister (丞相 ; Chéngxiàng)
- The Imperial Secretary (御史大夫 ; Yù Shǐ Dàfū)
- The Grand Commandant (太尉 ; Tài Wèi)
- The Minister of Ceremonies (太常 ; Tài Cháng)
- The Supervisor of Attendants (光祿勛 ; Guāng Lù Xūn)
- The Commandant of Guards (衛尉 ; Wèi Wèi)
- The Minister of Coachman (太僕 ; Tài Pú)
- The Commandant of Justice (廷尉 ; Tíng Wèi)
- The Grand Herald (大鴻臚 ; Dà Hóng Lú)
- The Director of the Imperial Clan (宗正 ; Zōngzhèng)
- The Grand Minister of Agriculture (大司農 ; Dà Sī Nóng)
- The Small Treasurer (少府 ; Shǎo Fǔ)

There is also the so called "Tenth Minister", the Commissioner of Imperial Security, who oversees the secret service the Empress has constructed to crush her political opponents.

Ideology: Confucianism | Monarchism | Civic Nationalism | Eastern Conservatism | State Capitalism | Protectionism | Anti-Colonialism | Meritocracy
Leader/s:
- Empress Yin of Zhēn
- Lin Xian, Prime Minister
- I'll add more as I think of them

Population Info
Brief Description of your people: Despite the rise and fall of countless kingdoms and dynasties over the course of thousands of years, the Chinese have remained a united, patriotic people. The ideal of Tianxia still runs strong in their national spirit, as do the teachings of the masters of ancient times. The Chinese civilization of today is one based on filial piety, Mohist consequentialism, and respect for the world's natural cycles and the rule of law. Its laws are strict, and its traditions even more so. From birth, the Chinese are taught to forsake their personal ambitions for the common good, to put the well-being of their family and neighbours above all else. These principles guide not just the common folk, but the government and aristocracy as well. A ruler must earn the right to rule over others through virtue, and a corrupt bureaucrat will not last. Although languages spoken by the Chinese people are plenty and diverse, Classical Chinese remains the most popular written language, used by bureaucrats, scholars and poets alike.
Religion: Heaven Worship (Official), Chinese folk religion, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam (Banned)
Ethnicity: Han Chinese
Main/Accepted Culture(s): Han (Official), Zhuang, Miao, Yi, Tujia, Yao, Dong, Bai, Buyei, Dai
Other Cultures: Hui, Manchu, Korean

Military Info
Army:
- The Celestial Army (天体军 ; Tiāntǐ jūn) consists of 2, 300,000 volunteers, 18,000 officers, 1,100 artillery pieces and 8,800 spies. It makes up the bulk of the Empire's standing armed forces and is tasked with protecting the dynasty from usurpers, repelling foreign invasions and leading the vanguard in any campaign against a neighbouring nation. While firearms were reserved for artillery and elite forces in the past, the Zhen dynasty has expanded their use to regular infantry and cavalry. The Celestial Army controls hundreds of outposts, fortresses, passes and bridges around the Empire, particularly near the northern borders. The Celestial Army has historically concentrated some of China's best senior generals and strategists, and its troops are supposed to receive at least several months of training in combat and basic military tactics. Unfortunately, nowadays, they often receive little to no training at all, due to corruption, lack of supplies, and financial strain. The standard equipment for a soldier of the Celestial Army is generally a short sword and musket, or a spear. As for officers, the highest-ranking ones carry chain whips, but many officers also carry rare Western style pistols or rifles, either imported or made by the dynasty's few modern arsenals.
Volunteers: 2,300,000
Officers: 16,200
Artillery: 850
Spies: 12,750

Navy:
- The Celestial Navy (天朝海軍 ; Tiāncháo Hǎijūn) is the leading naval force in China, with 120 ships for sea warfare, 355 ships for river warfare, 575 transports, 24,240 volunteers and 120 officers. While a mere token force in previous dynasties, and mostly dedicated to exploration, during the Zhen dynasty substantial efforts were made to modernize and enlargen the Celestial Navy to honour the First Emperor's dream of a Chinese Empire of the Seas. Although most of the navy's warships are not nearly as technologically advanced as their Western peers, with only 30 of them having any cannons, its officers, sailors and marines are amongst the best in all of Asia, particularly in river warfare. However, in the last few decades, the Celestial Navy has been utterly decimated by wars with more advanced foreign powers, and its strength reduced considerably.

Brief Description of your Economy: To this day, China remains a prosperous, if mostly agrarian country, its main exports being spices, porcelain, tea, dye and silk. The land is, for the most part, fertile and natural resources are plentiful. Under the Zhen dynasty, few attempts have been made to industrialize the cities, and most economic reforms have been aimed at improving agriculture. In Hangzhou and the Yangtze River Delta China's first steel mills have been built using local engineering, and some villages in former Shu have begun developing small textile mills alongside their cotton and silk farms. These have spread as well to the YRD. Fishing and mining are still small-scale activities, the imperial government simply lacks the funding to do more than create a few modern arsenals to try and equip the Army better, despite the Empress's longstanding desires. Debts incurred from the great rebellion and the ruin brought down by it mean the government has less influence over economic matters, collects fewer taxes, and cannot invest as much of this money into industry.
Goals: Resist European colonialism | Don't die

The unexpected victory of the Eastern Wu over the Jin dynasty in 284, which brought an end to the Three Kingdoms period, served as the catalyst for the long series of dynasties and civil wars that would lead, in 1655, to the son of a prosperous fisherman of noble birth from the Southland founding the Zhen dynasty. The Wu dynasty ruled over China for almost three centuries, and the generals Sun Ce and Zhou Yu came to be known throughout the land as the two greatest heroes of the Three Kingdoms, far greater than Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei or Lord Guan.

When Wu finally collapsed under the weight of its own political corruption and military weakness, another era of warring states began, followed by the Sui and Tang dynasties. The Tang dynasty in turn died from within, and the dynastic cycle was fulfilled again, the empire once more divided amongst imperial claimants and warring states.

Short-lived dynasties followed the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, including the century-long Yuan dynasty, established by the Mongolian leader Kublai Khan, and even that mighty empire eventually lost the Mandate of Heaven and fell before the Red Turban Rebellion.

The Ming dynasty was a period of unprecedented stability and grand endeavours, including treasure voyages under the eunuch Zheng He, the restoration of the Grand Canal and the construction of the Forbidden City. It was also, however, a dynasty marked by disastrous economic policies and rampant corruption which, combined with a plethora of natural disasters, soon began to make scholars and common folk alike question whether the Ming dynasty still possessed the Mandate of Heaven.

The dynasty finally collapsed with Li Zicheng's rebellion and the Manchu invasion that accompanied it. Faced with the disappearance of imperial authority and foreign armies threatening Chinese sovereignity, the remaining regions of China began to fight for the right to sit on the Dragon Throne and repel the invaders.

As a dozen kingdoms raised massive armies to fight against one another and the Manchu, a boy called Hai Ning, born in a wealthy and educated family from Wu, raised his own army and navy, staged a coup in his prefecture and proclaimed himself inspector. In the months that followed, he joined forces with Sun Ping, king of Wu and direct descendant of Emperor Da of Wu, and used the Wu navy to attack seaports and riverside outposts held by Ming loyalists and other warlords of the Southland.

By the year 1655, the Qing dynasty had been established in the North, the Shun dynasty had perished with its founder, Ming loyalists had lost Nanjing and, with it, any legitimate claim to the Dragon Throne, and the Yangzhou massacre had left the entire Southland in a state of shock. Hai Ning and Sun Ping, on the other hand, had managed to intimidate the kings of Shu and Min into submission, swelling the ranks of their coalition and amassing enough resources to sustain a siege from Ming and Qing forces. At the same time, Hai Ning's popularity grew in his core districts as he enacted several policies aimed at stabilizing the ailing economy and reorganizing the bureaucracy.

Hai Ning had become a figure of great prestige, a folk hero amongst fishermen and sailors, and a respected administrator and general amongst scholars and warlords. He had come to be known as Grey-Eyed Hai and King Greenfish, a virtuous yet cunning boy who had set the entire Ming navy on fire during the battle for Fuzhou and captured Zheng Chenggong, and the one responsible for the drowning of tens of thousands of Manchu soldiers in the Grand Canal when they had attempted to conquer Jiaxing.

In the spring of that same year, with his hold on the Southland secure and the official support of the kings of Wu, Shu, Min and Chu, Hai Ning proclaimed himself Emperor Luyu of Zhen (珍綠鱼 皇帝 ; Zhēn Lǜyú Huángdì), Son of Heaven. He established his capital in Hangzhou, where most of his own navy was anchored, and chose the colours blue and green (青 ; qīng) and the carp to be symbols of his dynasty, to signify his desire to renew the Empire through a southern dynasty.

The First Emperor spent the next sixteen years in a bloody war against another imperial claimant from the Southland, Empress Haishe of the Southern Han, who had established herself in Guangzhou with a large army and navy, comprised mostly of Vietnamese volunteers and pirates. Constant attempts by the Qing dynasty and claimants from the North to invade Wu, Shu and Chu hindered the First Emperor's plans for campaigns against the Southern Han and stretched his resources thin.

The turning point in this defensive war came with the rise of a new warlord in the kingdom of Shu. Tian Shiren, last in a long line of generals who had served the Ming dynasty, had established himself as Lord of Qiu, a village near the Jiuzhaigou Valley, created a court filled with scholars of great renown who had fled the wars, and raised a fearsome army that had single-handedly driven the forces of Qing out of northern Shu and even occupied key areas of southern Gansu. The First Emperor personally visited Tian Shiren, and the latter eventually agreed to become Prime Minister of Zhen and lead an expedition against the Southern Han with the king of Shu's support.

Although the First Emperor's original intent for the campaign had been gaining a foothold on Empress Haishe's territory, Tian Shiren managed to occupy the Southern Han and drive the woman known as the Sea Serpent out of China, to spend the rest of her days in Tibet as a perennial claimant to the Dragon Throne. The Prime Minister's outstanding victory over the seemingly mightier Southern Han, vastly exaggerated by many traveling merchants and scholars, turned him a folk hero, and put the First Emperor's remaining enemies on the defensive.

In the year 1661, with the Southland unified and only the Qing dynasty remaining in the North, the First Emperor personally lead one of three simultaneous campaigns to expell the Manchu invaders from China, while Tian Shiren and Sun Rong, king of Wu after Sun Ping's death, lead the other two. With six hundred thousand troops under his command, he broke through Qing's defenses and pushed deep into their territory over the course of four years, his army's advance only interrupted by the siege of Beijing, which took him several months to complete and cost him tens of thousands of men, many of them lost to disease and famine. Two years after the fall of Beijing, the Qing dynasty was vanquished, what few territories the First Emperor had not reached now occupied by the Mongol Khanate and the Kingdom of Great Joseon.

With China reunified at last, the First Emperor dedicated the rest of his reign to restoring order, rebuilding the economy and reforming the imperial government with Tian Shiren's help. The last thirty-five years of Emperor Luyu's life were marked by an ardous but substantial recovery and nearly undisturbed internal peace, a trend that continued during the reign of Emperor Hongyu, his third son, and well into the eighteenth century. From then onwards, members of the Tian clan were regularly chosen to serve as Prime Ministers, and the king of Wu remained as the dynasty's greatest provider of political, economic and military support.

The peace brought by the Zhen dynasty, however, found itself suddenly threatened in the year 1774 by foreign conspiracies. Merchants from Europe had bribed the governor of Guangdong and the king of Nanyue, and convinced them to hand over some of the empire's seaports without consulting with Emperor Haitun or Prime Minister Tian Shan. The scandal, and the backlash that followed, soon escalated into an armed rebellion against the empire, with the rebels receiving European financial and military support. Although the rebellion lasted less than three years, and the Prime Minister's forces succeeded in sinking the entire Nanyue navy, capturing the rebel leaders and reclaiming most of Guangdong, in the end China was forced to relinquish part of Nanyue to the kingdom of the Viet and the cities of Macau and Hong Kong to European powers. The shame of losing those territories to foreign treachery forced the Prime Minister to resign, leaving the imperial government in shock.

Since then, there have been no more rebellions, and the imperial administration has gone to great lengths to quell the colonial ambitions of Europeans, leaving all commercial and diplomatic contact reduced to that between the cities of Macau and Hong Kong, and the governor of Guangdong. The loss of Nanyue still weighs heavy on the imperial court.

The Zhen dynasty soldiered on for a time after that, remaining relatively stable and peaceful and even becoming more powerful, with slight modernizations- but then the fear of every dynasty since time immemorial emerged: a succession crisis. The aging emperor had no sons, was in poor health, and died soon enough, and his daughter Hai Yin had been declared Crown Princess. Upon his death, she was crowned as the first empress regnant of China since Wu Zetian, and thus began the most devastating rebellion in the dynasty's history and possibly the bloodiest war in all of history. The Kings of Wu, Shu, and Min, along with conservatives in the court, revolted, first attempting a palace coup- which failed- and then raising their lands in armed rebellion. They claimed that a woman on the Dragon Throne would bring the dynasty down, as Wu Zetian preceded the devastating An Lushan Rebellion. The Empress and her Prime Minister Tian Ru were forced to abandon their ambitions on Taiwan and in Vietnam to deal with the massive uprising, which also triggered many smaller revolts. The next fifteen years saw China wracked by rebellions, with many millions perishing in the thousand little wars that erupted around the empire. However, eventually, by using mass conscription and primitive, attrition-based strategies that favored their superior numbers in troops, as well as very effective intelligence-gathering and espionage, the Empress was ultimately victorious. In revenge for the huge damage that had been wrought on China by the rebellion, she had the entire royal families of the revolting kingdoms executed- but then she went further. Qiu, which had remained loyal, was largely annihilated as well, and she had many members of the imperial clan slain for suspected or known treasons. Weakened by the massive rebellion, China has been unable to resist increasing Western interference over the past decades and has been terribly weakened.
At present, the Empress is still, after so many years, on the Dragon Throne- but she has a new Prime Minister, Lin Xian. Over the course of her long reign, power has become highly centralized in her hands, but the Empress is childless and the imperial clan far less numerous than they once were thanks to her mass executions. China is now truly facing crisis, as the nation once more confronts the devastating specter of a succession crisis.
