No...?
I don't remember doing that, and I don't know if someone else was Daksina after me and did that.

Brief Description of your Economy: The Daksinese economy is based around agriculture, fishing, cattle herding, mining and manufacturing based on the rich mineral wealth that lies under the surface of Daksina. The industries are as expected focused around the big cities to the south and therefor that's where the majority of the industry is. The infrastructure and industry are also focused on the coastal regions as the internal parts of Daksina are infertile though small groups of hunter gatherers still exist in it.
Goals: Become a regional power,
Expand naval force,
Expand economy and industry,
Do something
History: Daksina spent much of the years before and after the Humbuldt era silently industrializing and westernizing it's society and economy. The south and the coastal regions became the centers of this effort for obvious reasons thanks to the harsh climate of it. The Daksinese industrial revolution and westernization would not come without it's problems however as the conservative members of society fought against it and that Daksina just didn't have as much experience as the Europeans leading to a slow development yet the mineral wealth of the nation has steadily been fueling the industry while the need for agriculture has slowly diminished. In 1911 Daksina looks on as the European powers continue to fight and scheme against each other while it simply sits in it's own corner of the world.

Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy
Brief Explanation of Government: The Council (Savet) is a bicameral legislature lead by the President (Predsednik). It consists of the Upper House, the Dom Lordova, and the Lower House, Dom Poslanika, both of which are elected, and both of which are required to approve legislation before it passes to the monarch, who can delay legislation for up to a year or send it back to the Savet for review up to 3 times, but cannot stop legislation from being passed. Elections are held every 5 years using AMS, with the constituent members sitting in the Poslanika and the 'top-up' members in the Lordova. The monarch retains the roles of commander in chief of the armed forces and being responsible for international diplomacy, but otherwise has little power.
Ideology: Monarchism, Nationalism, Pan-Slavism (to a limited degree), Conservatism
Leader/s: Queen of Serbia Maria I Nemanjić
President Nicholas Doviač
Population Info
Brief Description of your people: Serbs, are, for the most part, content with their lot; the near-elimination of the feudal system during the fall of the Serbian Empire led to a generation of major change within Serbia, going from a nation plodding along with old systems into a sudden dynamic burst of activity as people scrambled to make the best of the situation. Although this burst of meritocracy has silenced, the nationalism and revanchism generated by the Empire's fall remains burning within Serbia's people alongside pan-Slavism.
Religion: Serbia is an Orthodox Christian nation first and foremost; it is the state religion, and although other religions such as Judaism do exist within Serbia's borders, they have little influence or followers.
Ethnicity: Despite it's empire, the Serbian heartland remains almost entirely Serbian, and those that aren't are fellow South Slavs. The feudal system prevented migration between different parts, and nobles kept to their estates for the vast majority of the time, although some non-Slavic Hungarians form a small minority.
Main/Accepted Culture(s): Serbian
Other Cultures: Albanian
Military Info
Army: 60,000 men, all in the Serbian Royal Army. Serbia's army, as the sole armed force in the state, is surprisingly formidable for Serbia's size in terms of training with a nationalist fire still burning through it, but the vast majority of it's equipment is Russian, German or Italian surplus, with Serbian-produced equipment limited to improvements to other country's designs. There is also the Serbian Royal Reserve, which numbers some 170,000, but due to the vast % of Serbia's population this would call up it is only done in times of national crisis.
Navy: None (landlocked).
Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy: Serbia's economy remains firmly production-based; limited natural resources have hanpered industrialisation under the Savet's many Four-Year Plans and the instability of the region makes private industry a notoriously risky investment, especally given the Savet's tendencies for aggressive nationalisation.
Goals: Restore glorious Serbian Empire.
History:The history of the Empire of Serbia begins in the 1340s. With the Fourth Crusade having destroyed the Byzantine Empire in Europe and divided it's territories amongst various states, the King of Serbia, Stephen Uros IV Dusan, declared himself 'Emperor of the Serbs' at Skopje in 1336. This was shortly followed first by a campaign against the Tsars of Bulgaria, whom Dusan conquered by 1341 and his following marriage to Helena of Bulgaria.
After two following years of peace while he dealt with a small rebellion by Bulgarian nobles, Dusan turned north and swiftly conquered Bosnia and Wallachia, leaving them as buffer states between Serbia and Hungary to the north.
Stephen's death in 1355 left the Empire in a precarious position. Dusan's heir, Stephen Uros V, was soon found to be a weak and incompetent ruler. Combined with discontent among the Bulgarian nobles, and both Wallachia and Bosnia seeing a possibility to break free, the Empire looked set to collapse into warring duchies. However, after a bout of dysentery swept across Serbia in 1356, Stephen Uros V was able to reassert his power and influence and eventually married Jelena Gruba, having 3 children, one of whom died in childhood before his death in 1377, leaving the throne to Stephen Vladimir I.
Vladimir I married Catherine of Hungary, heir to the Hungarian throne, which led to Hungary being incorporated into the Empire of Serbia on Catherine's death in 1423 and Vladimir's the following year.
Stephen Vladimir II's reign was mostly that of reform; Dusan's Code, originally written down over a century ago, was modernised, and formed the central pillar of Serbian law for the next 300 years. Vladimir II died in 1459, leaving the throne to Stephen Uros VI. Uros' reign was one of conquest; he launched a successful invasion of Poland-Lithuania in 1466, taking Nitra and establishing the Duchy of Moldavia which he granted to a cousin, following up with a brief campaign to install a sympathetic King in the Kingdom of Thrace and conquering the Despotate of Eprius to install a nephew as King of Albania.
Uros VI's reign ended in 1501, with a Croatian rebellion establishing a small Croatian state which Uros VI's heir, Stephen Vladimir III, placed his younger brother on and used as a buffer state against Venice.
Vladimir III died in 1547, leaving the throne to Vladimir IV, who died a year later of the Great Pox and the throne passed to Vladimir V, who created several fortresses along Serbia's northern and western borders. He died in 1590, the throne passing to Stephen Boris I. Boris established the Imperial Serbian Navy, but other than that is notable for little.
Boris died in 1622 and the throne passed to his son, still a minor, Stephen Vladimir V. Serbia, with a boy of 15 on the throne, soon devolved into civil war as various dukes rebelled, aiming to reestablish independent kingdoms in Bulgaria, Hungary and Bosnia or simply to depose him.
The war was bloody. Vladimir V played his enemies off against each other, letting them destroy each other as that battled for independence or to depose him before he picked up the pieces and rebuilt the Empire. In 5 years, Vladimir V (more commonly known as Vlad the Impaler) had near 30,000 people impaled for rebelling against him or being family of those who rebelled against him, and used their bodies to mark out the Empire's borders.
Vladimir V died in 1665 of the Great Plague, leaving the throne to his daughter Anna. With the nobility and populace still cowed by her father's brutality, Anna instead redrafted Dusan's Code, modifying it slightly for a period 300 years later. She died in 1701, and leaf to the throne to Stephen Vladimir VI, who modernised Serbia's army significantly. He died in 1727, succeeded by Stephen Vladimir VII, who launched a invasion of Poland in 1732, but was ulitimately defeated before dying in 1740.
The next decade was marked by a vicious civil war between Vladimir VII's twin sons, which led the Empire to the brink of collapse before the elder died, leaving the throne to Stephen Boris II. Boris II repaired the damage caused by the civil war, and also carried out several major economic and tax reforms before his death in 1804, the throne passing to his son Stephen Vladimir VIII.
Stephen Vladimir VIII would reign for just over 3 decades of stagnation as Serbia fell technologically and governmentally behind the rest of Europe, his hyper-aggressive conservatism ultimately paving the way for the Empire's collapse within half a century. His death in 1835 was a relief to some, but marked the death knell for many others.Stephen Vladimir VIII's sole child was a daughter called Anna. Anna herself had, from a young age, developed an intense desire for control over everything, combined with a unhealthy streak of paranoia.
Although her first years were filled with promise, beginning to modernise Serbia, an assassination attempt by a group of Hungarian nobles sparked off the Night of Axes. In 1839, in one calculated swoop, the entire Imperial General Staff, several Dukes, half of the Imperial Servants and all members of the Savat were imprisoned and executed, along with anyone who refused to carry out the imprisonment orders. Although well covered-up and prevented from leaking to the populace at large, this act sparked both outrage and abject terror from the nobility and officers.
This purge would ultimately lead to the Empire's near-dissolution in 1846 during the Spring of Nations, where for 8 years the Serbian Imperial Army fought nationalists from all across the Empire, along with noble uprisings seeking to depose Anna. Although Serbia won, it's invasion during the Humbolt Era in 1854 would lead to the Empire's humiliating defeat at the Battle of Budapest. The Empire's defeat at Budapest would spark a wave of nationalist uprisings across the Empire once more, this time in support of Humbolt, requiring the Anglois to commit forces to prevent Humbolt from turning Serbia into a sea of client states.
Although this intervention would happen, and Humbolt would be defeated, the Serbian Empire collapsed. It's satellite states broke away, the newly-formed state of Hungary was annexed into the new United Kingdom of Austria, Bohemia and Hungary, and the new states formed were formally recognised.
Serbia collapsed economically. It sold it's navy to bring in money to invest, but this ultimately failed. A famine in 1870 would only worsen the situation, and ultimately by 1890 Serbia had hit rock bottom, with minimal exports and imports, a tiny domestic industry and the only reason a military coup hadn't happened being that Anna, even in her 70s, was still regarded with fear over the Great Purge.
Anna died in 1891, having led Serbia from an empire to a second-rate power in the backwater of the world. She was succeeded by Stephen Vladimir IX, the elder of two twins, the younger of whom had perished during Humbolt's invasion. Although Vladimir had spent much of his time in foreign education, he had brought back some strange ideas on 'Socialism'. He began to nationalise all industry, using the monarch's powers of eminent domain to revoke land, which led to a vast drop in investment. He also began to remove the military from politics, decreasing it's funding as he believed the interconnected trade patterns would remove Serbia's need for a military.
This drop in military political involvement and the lnew King's foreign ways would ultimately lead to the formation of the Black Hand, a strange group of Serbian nationalists, industrial investments and the current King's heir, Maria, who favoured more liberal and democratic ideas than her father's 'socialism'. A coup in 1903 would see her father executed and a new, nationalistic regime rise in it's place. The military regained it's place in politics, land was sold off to investors and the Savat would be democratically elected in both houses. The first election, in 1904, would see a Pan-Slavic party militarist party gain power, and through it's First and ongoing Second Five Year Plans, would increase Serbian industry financed through loans, although still to a lesser extent than many other powers.
By 1911, Serbia is mostly prepared to liberate it's former territories. A man by the name of Josef Tito, a junior member of the Black Hand and major in the Serbian Royal Army, has proposed the expansion of the Black Hand into territories under Austrian control to act as a guerilla force, to force Austria to invade Serbia and thus draw Serbia's allies in to a conflict.
Special Factors:
The Black Hand of Serbia: The Black Hand is possibily the closest thing to the Illuminati to actually exist. The military-government-industrial complex personified, it allows Serbia to coordinate it's military, political and industrial areas with frightening efficiency and, most importantly, deniability for any Serbian-backed Pan-Slavist protests, bombings or assassinations.
Serbian Nationalism and Pan-Slavism: If there is one nation that still has the nationalistic fervour of 1848 burning inside it, it is Serbia. Robbed of their Empire by the Congress of Glasgow and betrayed by their fellow great powers, Serbs are far more willing than most to lay down their lives for their nation, and the Serbian reserve force is vast compared to it's population. In addition to this, the annexation of Bosnia along with Serb rhetoric has led to the growth of Pan-Slavism, which Serbia stands as the focal point for and thus can expect assistance from Pan-Slavic groups in conflict against nations with South Slavic populations.

Brief Description of your Economy: Agricultural transitioning into semi-industrial. Anywhere outside of the major cities is either growing grains, grapes or poppies, or is used for herding sheep and cattle. The smaller cities of Macedonia are entirely based off of the harvest, with most cottage industries relating either to the tools for farming or products from the farms. The more mountainous countryside is also home to a few mines, mostly harvesting iron ore. The major cities stand in sharp contrast to the countryside. It is here, in the textile mills and steel factories, that most see the future of Macedonia. Efforts to expand industry into the countryside have thus far proved unprofitable and have been shut down, but as the rhetoric of the politicians becomes increasingly war-like, a few of these ventures may see government sponsorship.
Goals: Industrialize, Expand Macedonia to it's rightful area, eventually rise to unite and lead the South Slavs against their enemies.
History: In 1859, the Kingdom of Macedonia was born. Consisting mostly to serve as a borderland against the Serbs, Greeks and Bulgarians, it was carved out of the old Federation with little to no regard to the ethnic borders or history. Suddenly, thousands were thrown into a state that had no history, no name and no government. In this mess, the Kingdom was born. The strongest lord of the local region was crowned as King, and he named his kingdom after the area's most famous son - Alexander of Macedon. Here the emerging state was given a hero and a purpose, to become as the ancients were and lead a state that Alexander would be proud to carry his name.
After naming a King, the nobles of the region came together to form the Administrative Council, which would handle the task of both lawmaking and administrating the new lands. These nobles were joined by commoners, men of the country and city, who demanded representation in the new government. The nobles were in no place to destabilize the nation now, and the King was siding with the commoners. The nobles struck a compromise with the commoners and the common folk were to be able to join the Administrative Council as elected representatives and the nobles would hold their seats hereditarly, passing from father to eldest son or daughter. The nobles also were able to have the votes count twice as much as the commoners, "to preserve stability."
With the nation's government in functioning shape, the Kingdom was ready for the trials ahead. It's land was fertile, but in these days it wasn't farmland that produced the soldiers. The Kingdom needed industry, bigger than the cottage industry that produced most manufactured goods. Moreover, the Kingdom needed a moneymaker. Grain didn't fetch a high price and Macedonian Vineyards had little acclaim and few international sales. In 1871, this was found. The Poppy plant was introduced to Macedonia for the first time, and though the plant had few properties in it's raw form, it could be converted into morphine and codeine, two substances that hospitals and medical institutions all over the world needed, and the Macedonians were more than happy to supply them. Other than medical uses, the Macedonian government also allowed for a few farmers to grow the opium that the opium dens of Europe and Asia demanded, and they were more than happy enough to grow.
The other major economic goal - industrialization, began to occur at the end of the of the decade. The first few textile and steel factories started by domestic investors actually started to survive, due in part to government subsidies. These factories have taken over portions of the major cities of Macedonia, though industry to slow to spread due to the vast rural areas between major cities. It was also at this time that the government began to support industries more heavily, allowing some into the national stockpiles and giving many a tax exemption. This policy has increased the variety of industry, but most cannot compete in the global market and are only profitable with government subsidy.
The 1890's and Early 1900's saw the rise of the so-called Alexander's Companions. This group of men and women was the first political party to truly dominate government, and did so by inflaming ethnic tensions in the country. By this time, a plurality of the people in the Kingdom considered themselves "Macedonian," and it was to these that the Companions appealed, with rallies proclaiming "the virtues of the Macedonian people and their allies, the Serb and the Bulgar." And calling for "traitors" to the Kingdom to be publicly denounced and jailed. They made inroads into national politics in the middle of the 1890's and won many local seats, though the Administrative Council seats remained out of their grasp. By 1900, they had seats in the Council, and by 1912 - the most current election - they had a plurality of seats in the Council. The Companions have escalated the Kingdom's issues with neighboring Albania, with several border incidents almost resulting in a war, and Companion-lead riots against Albanians living in Macedonia.

Brief Description of your Economy:
A large agricultural sector is accompanied by a burgeoning industrial sector. The economy took a heavy beating during the war but in recent years it has pulled itself back and looks capable of growth. Industry in the empire is nowhere near that of the West, however it is modern enough to provide goods and weapons to serve the empire.
Goals: Defend the East, take Asia Minor, maintain independence, establish alliances with European powers and expand intoArabia
History: The Mameluke empire has only recently pulled itself out of a very dark place. During the 19th century it faced serious incursions from European powers. The Sudan and the majority of its African territory was taken by Italy, and the Russians remained a constant threat to the North. However, through all this, the empire remained decadent, a dynasty of incompetent Sultans watched from Cairo as their territory was stripped away. Then in the 1880s, everything changed.
The Russian invasion stirred up fears that had been bubbling in the Empire for decades. In 1882 an alliance of emirs was formed to challenge the Sultanate and in 1883 militants from minority groups rose up across the empire. The imperial army was no match for either threat, and was pushed back again and again. However, in 1884 a swift palace coup put an end to the Sultan and his dynasty, and raised a young nobleman, Mohammed ak-Makdud to the role of Sultan. The coup had been headed by an underground network of liberal Egyptians in favour of swift modernisation. The sultan quickly rallied the army and with the aid of mercenaries from the West, the rebels were defeated. And by 1886, peace rained. Over the next 15 years, the massive “private imperial fund” was spent on weapons and mercenaries from the West as well as being used to pump funds back into the strained economy. The government was reformed, and the feudal system was finally abolished, all emirs were given seats on the grand council.
In 1910 Mohammed died and was replaced by his son Ibrahim. Almost immediately he was faced by a horde of Aragonese troops on the horizon, if they were not defeated…

Other Info
Brief Description of your Economy: The Daksinese economy is based around agriculture, fishing, cattle herding, mining and manufacturing based on the rich mineral wealth that lies under the surface of Daksina. The industries are as expected focused around the big cities to the south and therefor that's where the majority of the industry is. The infrastructure and industry are also focused on the coastal regions as the internal parts of Daksina are infertile though small groups of hunter gatherers still exist in it.
Goals: Become a regional power,
Expand naval force,
Expand economy and industry,
Do something-
History: Daksina spent much of the years before and after the Humbuldt era silently industrializing and westernizing it's society and economy.

I'll make a new flag and coat of arms when I get home. I'll be taking the mantle of United Kingdom, and an uncommon name of the Nordic Empire.
