I just tend to get over excited with hugs." Xyri replied, she was still smiling though despite the fact that she was no longer hugging Rin. "So you must be smart like Mars if you're doing experiments and stuff. I mean I'm not really smart like that, so I wouldn't know though." She spoke. "Still, I can see if I can provide some jelly if I happen to find it. You could always go back to the Lab in which I was born. You might be able to find something there, either in their inventory or notes or something."

Rin Tarla

"Calling me smart might be an overstatement, my smarts go from asking other people what to do and surfing the internet. And my experimentations are mainly limited to, let's see what happens if I do x." I giggled at this point as it kind off sounded funny to myself what I just said "And when it comes to sound well, I'm not as smart as the people who can detect what sound is going to do by doing calculations and building machines to check. I just have the ability to see what it does. It's like a man who can see that the clouds are white isn't smarter than a blind man who read that they are white. If that makes any sense."

I looked over to Vera right now realizing in the excitement I forgot that I came here to check upon her puppup "I'm sorry Vera, I got distracted, your little puppup looks really cute, and he's relatively healthy. Might need a routine check-up at the vet. I might not hear any issues but I'm not an expert on how things are supposed to be in doggies."

Vera was left a little dumbfounded at Rin's comments on the dog, before remember the brief explanation of her power that she got. "Alright, thank you Rin." The pup hasn't seemed to notice Rin, as it's more focused on Kiris, sniffing, barking and playfully wagging his tail at the one that's paying the most attention to it. Vera steps up to Kiris, to answer her questions on the dog "Hello, Kiris, I found him in an Alleyway not far from here, so I brought him back here. I'm thinking of training it so it can help us if we need a dog."
Vera had received conditioning for working with dogs, which did strike her as odd know that she thinks about it, it's not really normal to have dogs in combat, but she guessed military's still needed dogs for somethings.

Sarah smiled to herself as she listened to John's comment, and then simply pretended to stretch a little as she yawned, before giving him a sleepy look, though no less charming than any other. "Oh, well, I don't know John. To be honest, I still feel a tad tired from running around the park all day." She apologized, though it was evident that she didn't really mean it and was just toying with John. Turning to look at him, she brought her hand up to caress his cheek. "You wouldn't want a tired teacher, now would you?" She told him, her voice soft and sweet.

After messing with John some more, the eldest of the Grimm sisters glanced in Samantha's direction to see what she and DeeDee were up to, and couldn't help giggling at the witch's antics and how they were affecting her younger sister. At times, she felt that DeeDee might be going a bit too far with her teasing, but afterwards, Sarah reasoned that she often acted like that towards people who were not in her family, though she hadn't done so during the relatively short time that had passed since she met John. Either way, she was amused, and seeing Samantha's rather loud reaction to DeeDee's last few words, she simply started laughing out loud.

"Sam, calm down!" She told her sister inbetween bouts of laughter. "She's lying you know? You don't have a birthmark. I would know if you did. i've had to take care of you since you were like three, remember?" She said.

Nelli nodded at Nico's question, mouthing a quick "you're welcome" before biting into the apple once again, enjoying the taste of the otherworldly fruit and making sure to remember what it looked like in case she happened to crave more of them in the future. After finishing her bite, she looked back at Nico. "All of us Star Demons are intuitively well-versed in the ways of magic, though in my case I had to be taught far more than in the case of the others, as I am half-human as well." She explained. "In any case, yes, that is where I learned the translation spells. I know several other useful spells that use blood as a catalyst, if you would like to see them some day. It may seem like the cost is a bit steep for using too many of these spells, but fortunately, Star Demons heal quickly." She said, and then held up her thumb for him to see that it was completely healed.

Kirisvala noticed how the puppy was happily interacting with her, and nearly squeed at how pretty it was. "Aww you're so cute!" She said to the doggy, not yet realizing that she had inadvertently assimilated the small creature's method of communication, just like she had assimilated what she dubbed 'thoughtspeak' after conversing with Professor X, or how she had learned the English language minutes after arriving at Jump City and Earth in general for the first time. She was, however, beginning to understand some of the dog's intention, even if it was far simpler than that of another human or Hadrian, and more instinctive and impulsive. She desperately wanted to pet the little creature, but refrained from doing so; the dog was soft and squishy, and though she was perfectly capable of performing delicate tasks with her claws, she preferred to keep them away from others.

"Hi, Vera." The Hadrian spoke as she heard the white-haired girl's greeting, smiling at her. "You're going to keep him? That's wonderful! I'm sure he'll be very happy here because we're going to take good care of him, right?" She said to Vera, before turning back to Mars and listening to his words, nodding at him when he was finished. What he said made a lot of sense, and she had no issue with going back down to talk to those three some more, though in all honesty she would've been inclined to cooperate even if the request didn't make much sense, simply because it was Mars who was asking. "Okay, I'll go back and talk to them, and if I hear something interesting I'll let you know via, um, you know, thoughtspeak." She said, before turning back to the others. "I'll see you guys later." She said, and then crouched next to the puppy, barking something that ammounte to "Bye puppy!" before finally leaving.

Heading downstairs, she found all three of the newcomers seated in the waiting room and walked up to them, sitting down in front of them. "My friend is working on the phone, he'll let you know what he can find when he's done. While we wait why don't you guys tell me about yourselves?" She asked with a smile.

The Starlight wrote:Previously in Renascence Eternal: Valka leaned upon Gungnir, and she seemed diminished, weary, once again, only a goddess, when before she had seemed to be something greater. And yet, still she was regal, and triumph filled her voice as she looked toward Valveig.

"It is finished."

Renascence Eternal
The Last Goodbye/The Realm Eternal

The halls of Asgard were many, and tonight, they were full. Full of revelry, of gods, and of men. There was the Hall of Feasting, where the greatest amount were, the hall hosting giant wooden tables that could seat hundreds, with enough food to last through three seasons. For the All-Mother had ordered that the cooks prepare one of the finest feasts in Asgardian history, and though that in and of itself was a hard feat, all who were present, agreed that this was the greatest feast they had seen.

There was the Hall of Drink, where giant barrels of mead, wines and ciders filled the room, with goblets possessing near the circumference of trees standing by. There, Asgard's guests could brew and mix their own drinks, and there were many a drinking contest here between gods and men.

There was the Hall of Blades, where weapons hung, unsheathed, for all to use so be it that they were friends of Asgard, and there an observer would see duels and sword-dances, everyone else standing in a circle around the two, three or even 4 combatants, at times.

There was the Hall of Battle, where all the great battles were inscribed and carved upon the walls, along with all the legends of Asgard. There, one could read of Odin hanging on the World-Tree, of all the Ragnaroks that could be remembered, and of the new battles of the All-Mother. There, even now, the scribes began a new work on the wall, and its title read simply Renascence Eternal, translated from the old Asgardian tongue, and all who saw it wondered at it. Valveig had taken command of the work there, and as she quietly spoke of her account of the tale, the scribes copied it down in giant tomes.

There was the Hall of Remembrance, which lead out to the Wall and Lake of Remembrance, and there, Valka had begun the long work of sculpting the image of every slain warrior that could remembered. And if one walked by all the statues, there, upon the door leading to the Lake read the Rite of the Slain that Valkyrie had spoken when she had discovered Valka:

"WE SHALL SPEAK OF THEE IN OUR HALLS.
OUR CHILDREN SHALL BE TAUGHT OF THEE, WARRIOR, WHOSE LAMP IS NO LONGER WITH US.
WE SHALL WRITE THY NAME UPON THE WALL.
TRULY, YOU WERE MIGHTY.
TRULY, YOU WERE MIGHTY.
WHAT CALLED YOU AWAY, WARRIOR, TO THAT SHINING REALM CALLED VALHALLA?
ASGARD SHALL REMEMBER THEE.
THIS IS THE RITE OF THE SLAIN.
NEVER FORGET.
ALWAYS REMEMBER.

And there was one last hall of Asgard, and that, was the Hall of Fire. A giant fire that reached nigh to the ceiling blazed, dancing, warming all within its flickering radius. There, in the Hall of Fire, there was song, and retelling of battles, and a large crowd had gathered to hear the tale of the All-Mother, as she spoke of her time in the underworld to those friends. Some of them shivered at the thought of what Valka had undergone, but all looked at her anew, for though she was weary, and that was apparent to all, she had also fully become All-Mother. Elsewhere in the hall, ripe was embellishment of tales as friends tried to impress each other, and when Valka's tale was done she looked around, and smiled at the merriness all around. She would need to sleep, but now was not the time for that, and so, she strode through the halls, stopping in each one, speaking with all that she could find.

Tonight, there was peace, and joy, and hope and love, in this Golden Realm. And late into the night, Valka stood by the horns of Asgard, upon the balcony, looking up at the stars. Valveig eventually joined her, and they stood in silence for quite sometime, before they began to speak, and their speaking lasted long into the night. Then, when the brilliant sun began to stir itself from slumber, before them materialized the cosmic embodiment of rebirth.

"I have given you all the time that I could, but it is time now." the entity spoke, nodding with a hint of sympathy to each other. The mother and daughter turned to each other, grasping each other for a long time, Valka murmuring things to Valveig. And then, at last, Valveig pulled herself away with some difficulty, wiping her eyes.

"Tears, Valveig?" Valka asked with a growing smile. "And you admonished me for crying. Our little chapter here, is ending, but the story? Who knows for how long it shall go, and as we have thrown aside fate, I should think it will be a very, very long story. Those are the best kind. This...shall be our last goodbye, the first, and the last one." her voice growing softer at the end.

"Goodbye, mother." said Valveig, laying a hand on Valka's shoulder.

"Farewell, daughter of mine," whispered Valka, clasping their hands together, and there they remained until they both withdrew. And then, Renascence held out her hand, and Valveig took it, and the two of them disappeared, back to Valveig's own time, her own Asgard. Valka looked upon where they had disappeared for a long time, her hand of flesh rubbing her hand of uru for a long time. The All-Mother reached a hand up, as if she could touch the stars, and then turned, descending the stairs. For the work of an All-Mother was never done.

The Hearth Burns On

One or two, perhaps three years in the future...

Valka walked towards her bedroom after the day's work of diplomacy was done. But, once she was there, instead of sleeping upon her own bed, she turned to the side of it, opening a small door and opening it. The room was filled with childlike paintings and writings, and all sorts of things, but that was not drew the eye of a visitor. Nay, it was the hearth, enclosed by brick, its warmth extending, nourishing, comforting.

And upon the small bed was a little girl, Valka's little girl, and her name was Valveig. The young Asgardian chewed upon a writing utensil for awhile, evidently working on a piece of some kind, before she beheld Valka.

"Why is a fire so wonderful, Valveig?" asked Valka with a smile, sitting upon the bed beside Valveig. The girl thought about it for a moment, and then shrugged, looking up to see Valka's answer.

"We stare at a fire because it flickers, because it glows. The light is what catches our eyes, but what makes us lean close to a fire has nothing to do with its bright shape. What draws you to a fire is the warmth you feel when you come near. What draws you to a fire is the comfort and hope, and love, even that you feel. Fire is so essential, so powerful...but let me not speak to long. For you do not want to hear of fire tonight, do you?" Valka questioned, already knowing the answer.

The little girl shook her head, and then cried out,""Mother! Mother! Tell me a story!"

Valka looked at the clear ceiling, from which that shimmering, silver starlight could be seen. "Very well. Listen carefully, Valveig, for I think you are old enough to hear of it. This is a story of a mother and a daughter of sacrifice. This is a story of battle and war. This is a story of death, and life, and renascence. This, is a story of gods and men, and evil. This story is called Renascence Eternal. And it has not ended yet, for its writing is not complete." And so, she began, her voice rising and falling like the waves of the sea, and the daughter of the All-Mother listened, enchanted, as Valka weaved a tale of swords borne into battle, a tale of scales forged into armor, and a tale of life and death.

She had spoken for perhaps two hours when she noticed Valveig's head leaning against her shoulder, her daughter fast asleep. Valka chuckled softly, carefully laying Valveig under the covers before pressing a kiss to her forehead, before dimming the fire. And then she sat in the rocking chair, reflecting on what was, what is, and that which is yet to come.

The story of Valka has been a long one, and it is not complete, nor will it ever be. But, perhaps, it was time to introduce a new story that would take prominence over that of Valka's. A story, still of the Realm Eternal.

A story of her daughter. A story of Valveig Silverhand, Goddess of Stories and Runes, she who knows the Name of the Wind. But there are many, many more names to be learned.

So shall we begin?

DeeDee

"Awww, I was just having so much fun, even thought I was spot on with the birthmark considering Shirtless her reaction. And I wasn't completely lying, I have the power to see her naked whenever I want. But where's the thrill in that, there's no thrill if there's no chase, no hunt." I smiled, it was a pity the illusion was broken, this was way to much fun, but when you gamble there's a chance you gamble wrong and I gambled wrong, all part of the game. No fun if there's no challenge. "Don't worry Sam, I'll get to see you naked someday, but it will be as much on your terms as it will be mine. That or you lose your clothes somehow and I happen to be nearby. I'll promise I won't be the reason you lost your clothes if you didn't want me to see you without them if that happens though. I might be a lying evil bitch, but some things you only want if you earned them."

Hmm, we are at a restaurant and everyone but me is eating something, it's the social thing to get something for myself, so for that reason I used my magical powers to summon a hamburger for myself, junk food is always the best, especially when you don't need food to survive any more and it's just for taste that you eat.

A Tale of Life and Death: Chapter I
Cancerverse: Part III
Frontline: The Fault

When the Galactus Engine emerged from the Fault, Jamal expected something game-changing to happen. Part of him was expecting the worst: that it would steamroll through the Abstracts. Still though, no matter what the outcome would be, he expected an extravagant battle. He expected... something. But instead, the Galactus Engine merely paused in front of the Abstracts, neither side even moving a millimeter. And, truth be told, that made Jamal worry even more.

"Quasar, this is Nova! The com-links are going haywire. Trying to boost my signal! Can you hear me, Quasar? That huge skull-faced thing is just sitting there... Is it even doing anything?" Jamal said as he tore through the Cancerverse creatures.

"Negative, Jamal. The Surfer identified it as the Cancerverse analogue of the Devourer of Worlds. It's like they took their Galactus's corpse and altered it---weaponized it." Quasar said. "So far though it looks like it's stuck in a standoff with the Abstracts of our universe and--"

"That is not so, Wendell Vaughn. We only appreciate the tumult of the battle at our level of being. We will not perceive the battle already joined on the Abstract scale until we see its consequences." Surfer said.

"Okay, what does that actually mean, Surfer?" Quasar asked.

"I do not understand the question. I thought I was being entirely clear."

"You're just talking in cosmic riddles as usual, Surfer!" Jamal said as he flew closer to one of the Abstracts, Aegis, Lady of All Sorrows. "I think I get the gist of what you're saying though. It only looks like they're not doing anything because we can't comprehend it--what with being mere 'mortals' and all." Jamal flew up to Aegis's face and watched as what appeared to be black webbing spread across it. "Worldmind, see if you can detect any part of this existential war that--" Jamal began before he saw something that lasted for a fraction of the second; he saw fear plaster across her face and cracks begin to form. Then, her head violently exploded, and from it, emerged the unmistakable spike-bearing tentacles of a Cancerverse creature.

"Holy shit!" Jamal exclaimed as he was knocked back. T-There was a blink and then it...it... we just... we just lost one of the Abstracts, we--" Jamal stammered.

["Attention, it is critical that you pay attention at this time. I am detecting a shock-wave of psionic energy. Your helmet's shields will not fully protect you from its--"]

Jamal yelled out in pain as he was hit by a mental shockwave, causing his energy to flare up and exploded outwards from his body.

The Cancerverse: Titan

"Interesting." Thanos said. "You bring me to Titan. In my universe, this was my home. My birthplace." Upon the group meeting Alt!Vision, they were led to Alt!Vision's ship, which was now taking them to Saturn's moon, Titan. The ship descended down and hovered above the surface for a few seconds as the ground beneath it opened up, revealing a metal platform. The ship landed on the platform and the ship was lowered down deep into the heart of the moon. The platform stopped descending and the ship opened up from the back.

["Titan is the heart of the Machine Resistance, Thanos. We would not ordinarily risk compromising our last stronghold, but, given the appearance of your group..."] Alt!Vision raised his arm and in front of him appeared a red projection screen as the group walked through the base of the Resistance.["The moment you crossed the Fault, you were a bright anomaly visible to all... to us and the Undying Lord's Defenders. However, he moon Titan is laced with shields and systems that will mask your presence in this reality. This will provide you with the ability to plan your next move undisturbed."]

"I appreciate the help, Alt!Vision, we all do. But, I'd like to know more about this... Machine Resistance." Star-Lord said.

["We, being sentient machines, are the only beings left in this universe capable of resisting the touch of the Many Angled Ones. By our nature, we are proofed against organic entropy."]

"So, are you saying that robots aren't really alive?" Star-Lord asked.

["I will resist engaging you in a debate about A.I. rights, Star-Lord."] Alt!Vision said as the group entered a fairly spacious circular room. ["For current purposes, artificial forms are life/death neutral."]

"In any case, you are all immune to the blight afflicting this universe." Thanos said. "But even mortal life should have been more resilient. The natural order has been fundamentally upset here. More profoundly than I ever managed to accomplish in my own reality. Life has either been empowered and enhanced, or--"

["Death has been killed."]

"I thought as much." Thanos said, his voice filled with disgust. "Show me how this was accomplished, Alt!Vision." Thanos said as the group approached a computer. "ISAAC? I presume you are keyed to my voice commands here just as you are on my Titan?" A face appeared on the large screen above the computer keyboard.

["Your question is anticipated, Thanos. An autobio has been prepared."] The computer said.

"The heck's an ISAAC?" Rocket Raccoon asked as Thanos sat in a chair in front of the computer.

"Integral Synaptic Anti-Anionic Computer. It runs Titan." Gamora explained.

"He's just taking over." Drax whispered to Star-Lord who was standing next to him.

"He's the specialist, Drax. Let him get on with this." Star-Lord whispered back.

"You're an idiot, Quill. You don't even know what he's 'getting on with.' He's gonna kill a universe that can't die? Then what? Why stop at one?" Drax hissed.

"These are very special circumstances. You know that, Drax." Star-Lord frowned.

"And you're a very special kind of stupid. He's Thanos. If he decides to flip flop, how are you going to stop him?" Drax said.

"I'll think of something."

"I'm something. Let me do what I was created to do before it's too late, dammit!" Drax said.

Star-Lord looked him straight in the eyes and simply said, "No."

Gamora bent forwards, placed her hands next on the computer, to the right of Thanos. "What have you found?"

"An unexpected symmetry. And it's name is Mar-Vell."

Normal Space, the Wreck of Thanos's Sanctuary

"Show me." A projection appeared in between Alt!Quasar and Alt!Mar-Vell, showing this universe's Captain Mar-Vell.

"Lord Mar-Vell, the research I coonducted in preparation for your arrival here revealed a simple discontinuity." Alt!Quasar said.

"He died, didn't he, Vaughn? The Mar-Vell in this universe allowed himself to die."

"His acceptance of Death was seen as selfless and courageous, Lord. He died as he lived, as one of their most celebrated heroes. Ironically, he died of cancer. He was beloved, like you. Admired even by his enemies. Like you. When the shocking diagnosis was made, every effort was expended to change the prognosis. The highest science, even sorcery, was employed." The projection changed, showing Mar-Vell on his death bed, surrounding a multitude of his closest friends as well as heroes who respected him. "As in your case, the Kree-forged Nega-Bands, the source of your power, were the stumbling block. At that point, the great and good of this insipid universe simply gave up on him, and allowed him to pass out of Life's realm as though it was something noble and valuable. They were too busy worrying about how sad they were supposed to look to even begin to explore other options."

Titan, the Cancerverse

"In this universe, the Chthonic entities had already begun to extend their unspeakable influence. Mar-Vell's terminal condition caused much distress amongst his peers and the global populations who adored him. Something felt the emphatic trauma. It felt it, and responded with an offer to solve the problem." Thanos scowled and his eyes began glowing. "Something beckoned from the cosmic shadows and showed the dying Mar-Vell one simply truth. 'Even Death may die.'"

"Mar-Vell brought this on his universe? That's arrant nonsense!" Mantis protested.

"Is it really, Mantis?" Thanos asked.

"Mantis is right. Even dying, even scared and judgement-impaired by pain meds, Mar-Vell would never make such a gross--" Gamora began.

"Of course. And next you'll say he had all those worthy friends around him to prevent his lapses." Thanos interrupted. "I told you, the influence of the Chthonic Gods was already much greater in this universe than it is in ours. The slip was so much easier to make. So much easier to justify. ISAAC, play back what you showed me."

["Playback begins."] The video feed of the screen showed Alt!Mar-Vell on his deathbed, surrounded by his friends and the heroes who respected him.

"We have failed you, Captain Mar-Vell. It's all so unfair." Alt!Captain America said.

"Do not grieve, my friends." Alt!Mar-Vell said. "Hope is not lost."

"Mar-Vell, we have tested the very limits of science." Alt!Iron Man said.

"Magic is also powerless in the face of your cancer." Alt!Scarlet Witch said.

"We can make you comfortable, but--" Alt!Reed Richards began.

"But life can make me life." Alt!Mar-Vell interrupted. "Give me your hands." A number of them did so, believing Mar-Vell to simply be rambling as a way to cope with his own death. "Life can make me live, and then I can share that greater Life with all of you. The future's so beautiful... so beautiful..." A flash of light exploded outwards, engulfing the screen.

["Playback ends."] ISAAC said.

The Guardians team collectively stared at the screen in disbelief at what had occurred-- Drax in particular clearly the most shocked. Alt!Vision gestured to the screen. ["Once Mar-Vell's closest allies were transmuted, a ritual was performed. The ritual was called the Necropsy. Many of us fought to prevent it as hard as we are now fighting its consequences. The Necropsy ceremonially sacrificed Death's Avatar and thus annihilated Death itself. It also fully released the Many Angled Ones into our plane of existence. There is always a hidden price to these things."]

"Exactly!" Drax said.

"Shut up, Drax." Star-Lord said. "What are the Many-Angled Ones?" He asked ISAAC.

["Primordial cosmic entities that inhabit the spaces between universes. Some say they are just memory-echoes of the nightmares that plagued the very first demons. There are ancient, pestilential ghoul-worlds in dying realities still devoted to their worship. They were the first beings ever to grow truly old. They--"]

"Okay, I think we got the idea." Rocket interrupted.

"ISAAC, where was the Necropsy ritual conducted?" Thanos asked.

["Aboard the Starship stronghold of this universe's Death Avatar. Aboard Sancturary."]

Normal Space. Starship Sanctuary

"The search for the Avatar continues, Lord Mar-Vell." Alt!Iron Man said, standing next to Alt!Mar-Vell inside of a circular room. The two stood on a balcony that was roughly 30 feet from the ground and circled the entire room. They looked down at the floor below, looking at their prisoners who had been gathered in the room and watching as Alt!Giant-Man brought the final prisoner into it. "Further anomalous individuals have been captured and await your examination, but I personally doubt any of them is the one we seek."

Alt!Mar-Vell sighed. "We can't perform the Necropsy without the Avatar, Anthony. Do not tax my patience."

"Undying Lord." A voice called from above. Alt!Scarlet Witch landed next to Alt!Marvel. "We're had word of an incident back on our side of the Fault a few hours ago. A team of Defenders engaged something. Contact was lost thereafter. There was a brief suggestion of an anomalous trace. With your permission, I'd like to take a detachment of Revengers back by Yot-Soteric transfer to investigate."

"Agreed. See to it. Maybe we will get lucky and find a lead towards the Avatar of Death." Alt!Marvel said, walking away.

"Ftaghn!" Alt!Iron Man cursed. "Trying to ingratiate yourself as favorite?"

"I'm only doing what you should have done, Star." Alt!Scarlet Witch snapped back, her eyes glowing red. "Captain America! Hawkeye! Wasp! War Machine! With me!"

Frontline: The Fault

"The Galactus Engine is tearing through everything we have. And, though admittedly it's hard to tell, even the Abstracts appear to be in retreat." Quasar said. He turned to face the Allied Council primarily made up of the leaders of the races present defending the Fault. About two hours after the appearance of the Galactus Engine, they decided to regroup on the moon of a planet in a system near the Fault.

"We will not go down this way. The Kree Stellar Empire has persisted too long to fall to a toxic otherness that injects itself into our reality." Medusa said.

"Well said, my queen!" Gorgon agreed.

"Yes, fine words, Medusa, for an upstart Monarch who only lately usurped her throne." Blastaar snidely remarked.

"Your insolence is suicidal, Blastaar!" Gorgon said, charging at him.

Gladiator got between the two, holding them back with one arm each. "A certain measure of respect would--"

"So says the leader of the Queen's Shi'ar lackeys." Blastaar snarled.

A bright light washed over them from above, causing the group to stop their arguing and look up at Jamal descending down. "Enough." Jamal landed and walked to the middle of the group. I thought we learned something over the last few years. Yeah, let's just spend the rest of the afternoon fighting each other while our universe dies. We can't outright fight them. You kill them, soon enough they just come back for more. We have to be smarter to fight them. Even worse is that this is clearly not a straightforward invasion. Sure, they're trying to establish a foothold, but they're up to something more behind the scenes."

"Nova's right." Quasar said. "The enemy has been systematically capturing particular individuals for unknown reasons."

"Unfortunately, we don't know what. However, we do know where." Jamal said.

"How?" Medusa asked.

"I was right next to the first Abstract to fall when the Galactus Engine exited the Fault, your Majesty. I was caught up in a pulse of psychometric energy. The Abstract... it sensed me, and it communicated something to me with its dying thoughts. In that brief second, it shared with me its cosmic awareness and I saw Major Victory--one of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Major Victory had joined me and the other Nova Corps members at the Fault to fight the invading forces, but he was captured for some reason. I saw where he's being held prisoner. It's a long way from the Frontline, and we can't spare much of our strength from the main fight. Therefore, I'm proposing a strike mission made up of a select few members to hit them hard and fast. Maybe if we deal with the masterminds behind the aforementioned underlying activities, we can finish this war without having to fight the other universe directly."

"So then, do you know who you want for this mission, Nova?" Medusa asked.

"Of course I do, ma'am." Jamal grinned. "It's time we reform the Annihilators."

...

Jamal looked up above him as he watched a figure fly down to the deck of the Inhuman/Kree Imperial Flagship. "Nice of you to make it, Beta Ray." Jamal said as Beta Ray Bill landed on the deck in front of him and shook his hand.

"Of course. I could never refuse such an important call to arms." Beta Ray replied.

"Worldmind, calculate the Stargate parameters required to drop all six of us right on the target's doorstep. I don't want them seeing us until the last moment. The element of surprise will be key here." Jamal said.

["The computations will take a moment, Jamal. The stargate needs to be calibrated to handle beings of extremely varied and unusual power-profiles."]

"I'll say." Jamal said, looking through the group gathered around him, including Silver Surfer, Ronan, Gladiator, Quasar, and of course Beta Ray Bill.

"You've changed so much these past few years, Jamal." Quasar said. "I couldn't imagine the you from years ago taking charge like you did back there."

"Yeah, well, the Annihilation War taught me plenty, Wendell. We can't slack off. Not even for a second, or we're done." Jamal said. Then he sighed. Despite his demeanor on the outside, he was truly worried that the group would fail, despite the number of powerhouses he was bringing with him. Of course, one question popped into the back of his mind as a result of wishing they had another ace-in-the-hole with them: where the hell was Karnilla?

A Galaxy Far, Far Away

A flaming ball of energy soared through the Milky Way Galaxy. It's origin was Earth. It crossed the distance from the planet to the edge of the galaxy, and continued. It crossed 23 more galaxies before hitting a sun in the 24th. The sun exploded--it's energy violently expanding outwards. Suddenly, the energy stopped expanding and began rapidly converging in on its center.

"Ah, jeez, he's absorbing the sun." Karnilla said as she and Dr Strange came to a halt, having followed the object from it's travel to Earth to this distant galaxy.

"You hit him with a magically constructed giant bat." Strange said. "Did you really expect precision control from such a blunt tool?" Strange was then hit with a beam of energy fired from Shuma-Gorath's eye, who had finished absorbing the energy of the sun. Once the attack was over, however, Strange was unscathed, having been protected by the auto-shield created by the Eye of Agamotto.

Shuma-Gorath fired another blast at Strange, this one noticeably more powerful. Karnilla jumped in between the two and met his blast with her own blast of magical energy being expelled out of her right hand. The two stood at a stalemate for a brief second, their clash bending the very space around them. In her left hand, her book was summoned and immediately four clones of herself appeared around Shuma-Gorath.

They each fired at Shuma-Gorath. He responded by spinning his tentacles around him and deflected each of the blasts, sending them flying in different directions--each wiping out roughly a dozen solar systems. Karnilla looked at Strange, who raised an eyebrow. "I'll fix them later." Karnilla shrugged.

Strange sighed and reached his hands out. From them emerged the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak, which quickly rapped around Shuma-Gorath and restrained him--rending him unable to move. Karnilla took the opportunity to fire the same magical blasts as previously from herself and her four clones at Shuma-Gorath.

However, rather than actually doing noticeable damage to the demon, the energy began converging on him and, like a vacuum, it poured into him. Furthermore, energy raced past Karnilla and Strange from behind, also converging upon Shuma-Gorath and becoming absorbed. "Enough. You cannot stop me. Everything will become mine."

"Well, he has a point." Karnilla said, watching Shuma-Gorath grow in size in correspondence to the amount of energy he absorbed. "We can't fight him here, he's just going to absorb everything we throw at him."

"Hold on." Strange said before making a gesture and saying an incantation. "Let the all-seeing eye come forth and stop the endless flow of time." A large, glowing eye appeared behind Strange. "As Agamotto grants this request." Time halted to a stop, and both Shuma-Gorath and the energy he was absorbing were frozen. "Alright, so, what do you propose we do?"

"Well, we could always banish him, but that won't work. He already has a foothold in this universe." Karnilla said, stroking her chin.

"Indeed. If we banish him, he'll simply come back. Furthermore, that--" Strange pointed to Shuma-Gorath. "--is merely the equivalent to a fingernail scratching at our reality. It's the tiniest piece of himself that he can physically manifest in this plane of existence. Destroying him will take time, which will allow him to absorb magical energy and reconstruct himself physically. Our only option is to destroy him on the astral level as well."

Karnilla snapped her fingers. "I got it! We take him somewhere where his influence is significantly reduced."

"And what, specifically, do you have in mind for this location?" Strange asked, prompting Karnilla to grin mischievously.

...

Mephisto sat upon his throne, sipping wine from a golden chalice and listening to the wails and screams of the souls of the dead. They pierced not only one's eardrums, but also disrupted the harmony of one's very soul. Their howls were largely incomprehensible in a general sense, though should living mortals find themselves in this Realm, most would be able to make out phrases here and there. However, no two people would hear the same thing. Some would believe that they were listening to the pained cries of a deceased friend, family memory, or lover, while others would believe that they were listening to the howls of total strangers trying to curse their souls in order to trade places with them.

Suddenly, the dimensional walls of the Realm were ripped through. Mephisto, as he was taking a sip from his wine, jolted out of his throne and did a spit take as he watched Shuma-Gorath barrel into his Realm. "W-What the--Who?! H-how?!" Mephisto stammered. Then, Karnilla and Doctor Strange entered through the rip in his Realm.

"Yo, Mephisto!" Karnilla called with a smile. "We're gonna use your Realm for a bit."

The Cancerverse, Titan

"The Necropsy must be reversed." Thanos said, placing his elbows on the computer and joining his hands together in front of his jaw.

["This is also the conclusion shared by the Resistance."] Vision agreed. ["However, it is a feat beyond us. It is a ritual that can only be performed by an Avatar of Death."]

"It is a good thing that I'm here, then. The venue must be the same as the one used originally, of course." Thanos said.

["Transporting you to the location where the Necropsy was performed will be a challenge. We have a method for getting you there quickly and undetected, but it will take a few hours to prepare."]

"That's nice and all, but we don't have a few hours, Vision. We need to think of something better. Show us where it's located." Star-Lord said, moving next to Vision in front of the computer.

"The moment is upon us, Drax." Thanos said, turning to face the Destroyer. "You've been murmuring threats ever since we were reunited. If I am to embark upon this considerable task, I don't want to be wasting my time with you." Thanos stormed at Drax until he was mere inches away from him. "So if you've got something to say, just say it!"

Drax raised his large weapon and fired it at Thanos, hitting him square in the chest and sending him flying at the wall behind him. "Something to say? Something to say?! I've got nothing to say."

Star-Lord immediately turned. "Drax, what are you doing?1 Cease fire! Mantis, Cosmo, keep them apart!" He shouted as Drax continued unloading on Thanos, doing no damage to him and merely serving as an annoyance.

"I can't, peter! Thanos has recovered too much power and he's evolved way beyond my capacity to mindlock!" Mantis exclaimed.

"And Cosmo is not beink able to mindlock Drax either! Green nutjob is psychic screened!" Cosmo said.

"So... which one do I shoot? Never thought I'd say this, but I'm leaning towards Drax, personally." Rocket remarked.

Thanos got up and smacked Drax's weapon away from him. "You never did quire live up to your job description, did you, Destroyer?" Thanos said, placing a sarcastic emphasis on the last word.

Drax suddenly took out a circular device and placed it on Thanos's chest. "Who cares how long the job takes, provided it gets done? Tore your heart out last time. That wasn't enough. So I came fully loaded this time." The device began beeping, counting down towards something. "Close-focus anti-matter charge." Thanos howled as the anti-matter was discharged throughout his body and his body was differentiated.

"Drax, what the Flask have you done?!" Rocket shouted.

Demon God Alastir

As Hiroshi battled against Mira, and as Glacia fought against Demon King Dabura, Arctico took flight against Cell and Frieza, maintaining his ground against the two, leaving Shimura to face off against the perpetrator of everything that took place recently, his old friend and ally, the now Demon God Alastir, who fought the God of Peace with a dark frown on his face, Alastir may have been angry, but he was not foolish, Shimura was not a pushover in the slightest, the one who trained both Asumar and Kazuko, as well as being one of the very few humans who could contest him at his full power, Alastir knew that at his current level, it was debatable regarding who would be able to overwhelm the other. As the two of them clashed physically, Alastir and Shimura stared each other down, ambitious eyes glaring down at peaceful eyes, the two titanic will powers standing against one another at the same time.

"My goodness Shimura, you have improved, have you not?" Alastir asked with a knowing smirk on his face, the two combatants releasing their grip on each other and delivering a powerful punch that caused the very particles of space to light up around them, on Alastir's end, the particles began to mutate into hideous nightmares that would cause any normal sane person to go absolutely crazy, Alastir was warping the very fabric of reality around him, attempting to overpower Shimura with everything he had, while Shimura, being the God of Peace attempted to repair the damage caused by Alastir's reality warping capabilities, although he was struggling against the relentless tide that was darkness incarnate, Alastir's willpower and ambition was so great that he was actually causing damage to the fabric of reality itself, but to his surprize, Alastir closed his eyes momentarily and repaired the damage "You see my willpower Shimura, and you know that it is stronger than yours, it always was, and it will be." Alastir replied, a hint of remorse on his face as he withdrew from Shimura "I told you that this was a long time coming, I will no longer let those humans do what they want, I will stop at nothing and make sure that they are punished, and I will not let you stop me."

Shimura momentarily allowed his energy to subside, but both combatants knew that this was a fight that would continue on until the other had ceased fighting or had been killed, his position as the God of Peace would never allow for Alastir to continue on his course of destruction and discord, it could not be allowed in the slightest "Alastir, I understand that you will stop at nothing until the human race is punished for their sins that they caused our home to suffer, but there will come a time that they will ultimately suffer, but you must be patient, for I cannot allow you to continue on your current course, I have to stop you and I cannot cease my fight against you until you realize the error of your ways, only if I view the human race as warmongers will I allow you to pacify them, but not now, not yet..." Shimura acknowledged with a frown on his face, watching as Alastir's features visibly darkened in both a sign of regret and anger, he knew that Alastir was not going to be swayed from his path, but Shimura had to find a way to end the battle peacefully.

"You leave me no more choice Shimura, I can't let you get in the way, but I refuse to kill someone who was possibly one of the greatest friends that I could ever have, you may be my enemy right now Shimura, but the least I can give you is mercy from myself!" Alastir exclaimed, his entire body fading away into the void before reappearing once more, his fist diving directly into Shimura's stomach, causing the Aged God's eyes to widen in shock, coughing up mostly saliva, with only a small amount of blood being present, however, Alastir did this in order to assure Shimura that he was not going to give up in his ambition "I'm sorry that it has had to come to this my friend, bu-" At this moment in time, Shimura's jade energy flared to life again, the eyes of the Grand Master was burning with a tranquil rage within him, causing Alastir's eyes to widen before the both of them were brought down to the planet of Arcos at full speed.

Lord Arctico/Cosmic Emperor of the Reformed PTO

"Why have you become so powerful?!" Frieza exclaimed in anger as he struggled to overpower the new Emperor of the Planet Trade Organization, but obviously, Arctico was well above Frieza's power, even if he was granted the power of Alastir's Demon Magic, it seemed that even with the great boost of power, Frieza could still not comprehend Arctico's power "DAMNIT!!!" Frieza screamed to the heavens, surging forward in blind anger, his demonic energy pulsing with each passing second, and as Frieza believed he was to deliver a powerful punch to the Silver Arcosian, Arctico calmly weaved out of the way, which served to anger Frieza more and more until he fired a pair of eye beams as well as a barrage of Death Beams from his fingers closest to his Arcosian Enemy.

To the Former Tyrant's surprize however, Arctico's body seemingly turned into nothing but snow and blew away, while in reality, Arctico summoned a snowstorm around himself and the Arcosian Tyrant, demolishing his body and turning it into the very snowstorm itself "It seems that Alastir has not yet informed you, Frieza." Arctico's voice echoed from behind the tyrant, who counted by firing a multitude of death beams in the direction of the voice, but to his shock, no one was there "Not only am I the Cosmic Emperor of the Reformed Planet Trade Organization, but rather, I am also the God of Ice, able to manipulate it's properties to full it's full potential, allowing me control of water as well, and on this ice world of Arcos, my homeworld, you..." Within moments, Frieza felt his body begin to freeze up, Arctico's manipulation of the ice being so great that the temperature began to fall to absolute zero "You are under my domain and will suffer slowly for all of your offenses you plagued the Galaxy!" Arctico yelled from behind the Tyrant, a smile on the Emperor's face as Frieza cursed Arctico before freezing entirely.

With a smile, Arctico turned away from Frieza, looking into a comm-link "Lt. Xero, move Frieza's body into our Cryo-Prison to await sentencing, make sure that he is brought there with all deliberate haste."

Xander and Thanos could both here the fighting taking place several rooms over. He could hear as Naja shouted as Khan smacked her around. Thanos noticed that he was grinding his teeth. He was angry. "Human. Your loved one will survive. She understood what she was getting into. She is willing to suffer for you. Do not make it in vain"

"I can't believe you're the one giving me the pep talk. Just for that, I promise to kick him in the genitals for you."

"You are not the only person in the universe to have a loved one, human. I need this to succeed. If for no other reason than because Khan is a great threat to me. Even greater than his pest of a son. The child, Otis. While obnoxious, he is quite an imbecile. He knows very little about the power he wields. Fortunate for me. Yuga Khan is As much as threat to me as he is to you. This benefits us both." Thanos explained. "You will appreciate the news. This is not a weapon in the traditional sense. In fact. I believe what you took might actually be enough to defeat him. I have translated the language. It is meant to grant beings the power of something called the Starbrand. Limitless cosmic power."

"That actually sounds like it could work. You're not... Unpleasant to be around all the time. And I've never thought you for a ladies man. Who was the lucky or... Unlucky lady in this case?" He snickered a bit to himself. Thanos slightly growled at Xander's teasing of him. "Relax. I give better people even more shit. You're not my friend and I doubt you ever will be. So, in it's own roundabout way, it's the closest thing I'm giving you to a compliment." He explained.

"If you must know. It was Lady Death. However, she did not return the affection as I believed she would."

Thanos was in love with Death? It didn't surprise him any. It made sense. "Huh. Can't say I'm surprised. Now, back on topic. How close are we to finishing, because I'm not exactly fond of letting my wife and friends fighting a powerful cosmic deity without me there to help."

"You will be of more use in a moment. Your champions have faced worse and lived. The machine is coming online."

"And how do I know you're not lying to me and that this won't turn me into some crazy monster, or kill me?"

Thanos smiled a smug grin. "You don't."

Arovea, Sector 3250, 20 Light Years Away
Image

The Planet of Arovea. A wonderful planet, over 3 billion years old with life forming only a billion years after it's formation. The native inhabitants, known as the Aroveans, are a caring and generous race. They have a reputation on a galactic scale of being all knowing, and well known for their unique powers and abilities. But this nice planet and race will be the collateral damage of an 80,000 year old eternal, known as Amara. Amara had visited the planet over 400 years ago, as she made her trek through the universe. She wasn't welcomed much by the locals, though there was plenty enough that were caring. After she left, she wasn't seen again. Though, the planet will feel her presence again. Amara was heading back to Earth, at speeds not seen by any Arovean, in fact, they didn't even see her coming. Amara zipped past the moon Anan, which dissipated in a ball of dust within seconds, and she zoomed past Arovea. Soon, there wasn't anything left of Arovea but a scorched surface of the planet. Everything there was burned within seconds, and anything surviving afterwards would slowly die due to the sudden loss of the thin atmosphere. Any Arovean within a 200 light year radius would ultimately feel the loss of their home planet, as there was a life force present on the planet that kept all Arovean's connected. As soon as that life force is gone, then their connection with the planet is severed. Aroveans in nearby planets and galaxies would feel the sudden rush of losing their life force, and may be weakened as a result. An entire civilization abolished, millennium of culture destroyed, art lost. This was genocide on a planet wide scale. All planets and nearby galaxies would suffer with the loss of Arovea, as it proved to be a large hub for interplanetary and intergalactic trade. Arovea was gone, and a scorched hell remained. Amara continued her trek back to Earth, and the loss of Arovea and other planets would prove devastating and horrendous.

Lord Kazuko Masaki/New God of Nature/Lord Asumar Masaki/God of Constructs

As soon as Yuga Kahn began to walk back towards the others, it was then that Kazuko and Asumar, using their respective godly abilities to attack the great Yuga Kahn off guard and sent him crashing into the next room over, with a pair of wooden vines surrounding Kazuko's body, and a bodily construct protecting Asumar, the two had thrown together a crudely formed plan, which included simply sending Darkseid's father crashing into the next room over "I honestly can't believe that worked." Asumar commented, crouching in a fighting position. As expected, Yuga Kahn was already up on his feet and scanning the two hybrids that stood before him "Well that was fast to say the least, he's already standing." Asumar murmured, a red aura surrounding his body, increasing his physical capabilities by a hundred fold, although he doubted that this would make any difference.

"Impressive, most impressive indeed." Yuga Kahn commented, brushing off the dust that adorned his figure, it was a surprize that the two hybrids were actually able to catch him off guard like that "But It will not be happening again, Hybrids." Yuga Kahn taunted, earning an irritated expression from Asumar's face, but no reaction from Kazuko, who merely readied himself for what he knew to be a short fight. With this, Yuga Kahn's eyes began to glow red with energy "Try and dodge this." With those words, two energy beams came flying from the Old God's eyes, it wasn't meant to entirely kill them, but to demonstrate that the brothers were beneath him, like the Immortals & Primordials were to Otis.

"Asumar, rely solely on Long Range Attacks, if we get in close proximity to him, the battle will be over before it even begins." Kazuko telepathically informed his brother, who let out an inward sigh at the comment "I know, I know, but it is the best thing that I can come up with, and with those damn eye beams, our fight will only be even more difficult and implausible." Kazuko replied, the two brother barely missing the eye beams that were meant for them, but only served as a distraction, as Yuga Kahn shot forward and delivered a bone shattering punch to Asumar's gut, automatically sending the Grand Warlord into shock, collapsing onto the ground moments later, something that shocked even Kazuko "He's THAT powerful?!" Kazuko exclaimed inwardly, the roots and branches that surrounded his body visibly shook by the invisible force that Yuga Kahn delivered upon Asumar.

"Let that be an example to your brother as well as yourself halfling..." Yuga Kahn began, slowly walking forward towards the God of Nature, who slowly withdrew in shock "You, like everyone else who has attempted to harm me is below myself, you have no chance of winning over me regardless of what odds you throw at me, for I am far more powerful than my son could ever dream to be-" Suddenly, with his back turned from the seemingly unconscious 2nd Grand Warlord, Asumar unleashed a devastatingly powerful telekinetic wave towards Yuga Kahn, however, Asumar's attack had been hampered by his injuries, causing Yuga Kahn to maintain his balance, but to be nearly pushed into a wall.

"My god, you are just like Kilian on a bad day..." Asumar weakly commented, a cocky smirk on his face as he was waning between consciousness and unconsciousness "above us this, god that, even though you are powerful, as long as we continue punching against the wall, it's foundations will eventually crack under the pressure and we will be victorious, for even though the odds seem to be against us, someway, somehow, we will win over the forces of darkness." The Grand Warlord weakly replied, something that caused Kahn to turn his head towards Asumar in annoyance.

"And you are an annoying pest that deserves to be squashed under my bootheel like vermin, now..." Holding his hand out, red energy began to form on the hand, powerful enough to even render Asumar a charred corpse "Disappear like the rat you are." As soon as he launched this energy attack upon Asumar, a swarm of roots and branches covered over Asumar, protecting him from Kahn's attack, but barely. Knowing that this was the intervention of Kazuko, Yuga Kahn turned his head towards Kazuko, who moved back towards the group "Do you honestly think that by allying yourself with this vermin that you can win? Show me the determination of the Earth and see if you have what it takes to defend this dustball you call a home..."

"Well, I guess that's not so nice, then." Garnet commented after hearing Masami claim that there was blood inside the hoodie and that someone had probably died shortly after removing it. She shook her head. "Way to fuck up a compliment, random dead stranger number six. You just pranked me through space and time." She chuckled again, before pausing momentarily as she heard Akari's voice behind her. Immediately, Garnet took out Misery and pulled back the hammer of the revolver, striking a pose. It did absolutely nothing to the arcane pistol, but it looked fairly cool.

"We're going to kill the president." The blonde woman deadpanned.

She then looked around. "Anyway, didn't you invite the boy? You were getting along fairly well from the looks of it. After getting along horribly, too."

"Six? Have you been inconveienced by dead strangers before?" Replied Masami tongue similarly in cheek, though before she could get an answer guns were drawn. Akari had appeared right behind her new friend, a smile on her face. Masami felt she probably should have drawn her sword, after all that would look cool.

"We don't have a president in Japan." Akari replied, seemingly unphased by the gun. Though she did move it gently from her face.

"I believe she meant the American President..." Masami clarified, then smiled whistfully. "Remember when we met Kennedy? That was fun." It could be hard sometimes to remember Masami was about ninety.

"True. But I'm guessing our mission will be more fun." She paused. "I didn't bring Akihiko along... Perhaps I should pick him up." She replied, creating a portal to the house she just left.

She stuck her head through politely. "Excuse me, Akihiko, would you mind coming with us? We could use extra swords on this one."

"Yeah Sam. DeeDee is just screwing with you." She spoke in between picking plates clean. She stacked them up high, having finished her food already. "Now that the starter is finished I should go onto the second course..." She remarked, smiling. "Ah, more money more problems my ass. Being rich is awesome!" She announced. Then she turned to roy. She wondered if she was neglecting him for food. "Um, so... Your powers. Were you born with them or did you get them somehow?"

"Sure." Cat spoke. She wondered where to start. She sighed as she rubbed her temple. "Ummm... well... I..." She sighed, inhaling and calming herself. "Sorry, this is just a little overwhelming. A few weeks ago I discover I'm some sort of super strong human sponge. Then I find out my brother is made of sand during lunch. Next we see a bunch of people robbing a bank and then for some reason we.... stop them. I'm not even sure why I agreed to do it anymore... oh and we meet Nelli... Who is... a magic alien." She paused. Then she looked at her hands. She swiftly put her gloves on and extended a hand, smiling a little at least. "I'm Cat. My brothers name is Nico." She couldn't remember if they had already been introduced, she was all nerves after all.

Mind Divided: Part 3 Test of Bear

Hannah walked through the cave, frowning as she went. Realistically, she had no idea why she was going through with all this. She didn't even have a weapon, she couldn't transform, she was a decent fighter, but demons? They sounded bad. If they had defeated her once, the real her, the fully realised her. Then what hope did this little fragment which was her now have? She had to fight even for her identity here. She had to claw for a name and shape. Meanwhile whatever she was up against knew everything about her. Her dreams. Her hopes. Her worst nightmares...

How did this happen?

She remembered a face. A male. Odd considering most of the people in her life were female. She remembered something about Disney, and nothing after that. She remembered meeting DeeDee and John... and... nothing. Blank. Try as hard as she might, she couldn't find more than that.

Suddenly she found her thoughts disturbed by something. She saw before her a massive black, huge bear. It's eyes were alight with a grim fury. It took one look at Hannah, and Hannah looked at it. . She could see it was a threat, and so she made herself seem smaller as to not aggrivated, avoiding looking it in the eyes.

"So, a little thing has come into my cave then." It spoke. "This is where little things come to die girl. Best turn back now before you do."

"I can't."

"Oh, why is that?"

"I need to get past. To the challenge."

"Oh, and what makes you think your worthy?" Spoke the bear.

"Worthy? What does being worthy matter? I thought that was the point of the test."

The Bear roared in her face. Hannah stepped back again. The bear looked at this, then shook his head.

"Not worthy. Not ready. Leave now before you get hurt."

Hannah's eyes widened. Just like that. She was told she wasn't worthy. Just like that? What!?

She didn't have a choice. She had to do these stupid tests to get back to the stupid world with her stupid sisters. She didn't care what this bear thought.

She picked up a stone and tossed it at him. Then her turned around and snarled. Once again Hannah was Startled.

"You expect to be able to conquer your mind, yet you flinch when I show rage. You do not hold your ground. You are weaker than before. Too weak."

She tossed another stone. The bear snarled again, this time she did not flinch.

"That's it. I've had enough of you."

The bear got up fully, then moved towards Hannah, Massive paw above it's head.

"Tell Mother Bear that she can send another shard. They are all the same. They are all weak!

He slammed down his paw. Hannah dodged out of the way. Another paw slammed down. She dodged once more. She grabbed another rock to chuck, and then threw it, but it seems to stick to the air. Not hitting it's target. Then Hannah was cornered when she realised the bear was now closing in, and the bear closed in.

Others would have panicked. Hannah didn't. She was afraid, but her anger outweighed her fear. As she saw the bear rear upwards, she waited until it had begun it's swing, and then she punched it in the nose.

The bear snarled once more, but Hannah punched it again. It whimpered as it felt another punch. While Hannah might not look too strong, she was striking the bear at peak human strength. It groaned as it's nose was near broken. Then, Hannah groaned as she lifted the bear. It was almost too much for her, but she dragged it to a wall. She looked into it's eyes.

"Listen. I get that you don't think I'm worthy. But I need to do this. I have come too far to turn back now, especially because of the standards of some grumpy bear." She felt it. Her old fire. Her driving force. She had stood up to a massive bear.

The bear paused, the chuckled. "I was very wrong... You are worthy it seems." Admitted the bear. "You just needed to be backed into a corner. Seems like fear is a driving force for you, hmm? If you use it correctly, fear can be a great ally. But also a great enemy. To be be a bear is to be brave, but to be brave is to overcome fear."

Hannah paused, and then realised. "This was the test."

"Part. Part of the test. Though we didn't anticipate such a... vigorous response. You are something special. Not like the other shards. They're-" He paused. "Well, you'll find out about shards soon... In any case. You're not done yet."

"You've proven you can stand up for yourself against me. But can you stand up to your worst fears?"

The Grimms
John couldn't help but smile at Sarah's teasing words as she carrassed his face. It was becoming clear to him that Sarah enjoyed teasing with him, and messing with him, and he was starting to get better at recognizing it. "I don't know Sarah, you're pretty cute when you're tired." He told her with a grin on his face.

Sam blushed brightly again at Sarah's words, realizing her mistake. She had to calm down and stop letting DeeDee effect her so much. She listened as DeeDee talked more about wanting to see her naked, trying not to get frazzled anymore. Then she saw DeeDee magically summon a hamburger to her, and her eyes widened in interest. "Where'd you summon that from DeeDee?" Sam asked, her embarrassment being replaced with an eagerness to learn.

Meanwhile Roy heard Hannah's question and paused for a moment. Roy didn't honestly know the answer to that, but only because he had never met his parents nor did he know anything about the circumstance of his birth. However, he had his powers for as long as he could remember, so he supposed that was the answer. "Well, I think I was born with them. I don't ever remember not having them. I've only just recently learned to control them though... It wasn't as growing up with them." Roy admitted to Hannah but didn't elaborate futher. "So, what about you. We're you born being able to... transform?" He asked her, not really sure how else to describe Hannah's powers.

Hiroshi:

The light from his attack had simply evaporated into the air itself it seemed. He was feeling the exertion now, and the cold air didn't help him either. It was as if the entire planet was working against him. He could feel it now. There was a flame in his gut, wild and untamed. Every time he to reach for it, he felt as if he was being physically restrained. This wasn't hidden potential, this was everything a Saiyan was capable of, yet it eluded him.

Still, even as his hands trembled from exertion, and his knee's wobbled, the mountain of power before him was still very much alive. And judging from his ki, very pissed. Breathing in a shallow breath, all the Saiyan-Kaioshin could do was stare into the cloud of smoke, smoke and ash swirling in the sky. Slowly, the cloud of ash began to thin, allowing the briefest glimpse of a hellish red shield, before even that evaporated, leaving a very pissed demon in its wake. The sneer on the Demon's face was less than assuring as well.

" You're so intent on fighting then huh Saiyan?" Mira laughed." If you want to continue this fight, I'd suggest you pick up the pace. At this rate you'll be dead within minutes."

Despite his exhaustion, The Halfling could only sneer in response.

" I've seen your type before. Beasts who see no other use for other lives unless they provide you with a challenge. You call yourself a conquer. A warrior of unmatched caliber. You're pathetic." Hiroshi spoke, spitting into the snow. " Instead of a warrior, you're a lackey for who? That blue skinned bitch or Demigra? I'm not afraid of pawns, I'm afraid of real warriors."

The smile on the Demon's face almost melted away,a furious snarl filling his features as he stomped forward, his teeth grinding together comically.

" How am I lackey to either of them? I transcend both of them in power! I transcend even you in power, you pitiful worm!"

" You're nothing but a warm up Mira. You're weak."

It was like watching a cataclysm. Moving faster than Hiroshi could comprehend, incredible force rolled into the Saiyan. The remnant of earth Hiroshi stood on simply evaporated in the face of Mira's power. Raising an arm in defense, he felt Mira's arm swing in hard, his forearm shattering as the blow blasted aside his arm, the fist embedding itself in his stomach. Immediately, Hiroshi felt organs shift, his entire body screaming out in pain. Coughing, the Hybrid watched as two more strikes pummeled his frame, twisting and folding his frame around them. Reeling from each blow, Hiroshi felt his body impact snow back first. Rock and dirt split, before the entire area caved in, burying the Saiyan beneath tons of rubble and ice. Struggling to move beneath the rock, Hiroshi felt a rough hand grasp his jaw, Mira dragging him from the rubble. There wa slaughter in the air as the Hybrid tried to search out his opponent, his muscles screaming in protest as his hands wrapped around Mia's forearm.

" I should finish you now." Mira chuckled, roughly squeezing his jaw. " But I enjoy listening to you suffer."

" F-Fuck you." Hiroshi spat, red liquid bursting past his lips into Mira's face, a furious snarl contorting his features.

" Die." Mira growled, thrusting his blue palm into his face.

The blinding light that appeared was overwhelming. It was like the snow covered world around him had disappeared, and had been replaced by a swirling hell of light and noise. Bits of skin flicked off of his face as force of the energy became abundantly clear. He was utterly lost, not knowing if he was standing or rolling through the air. With the last of his energy, Hiroshi tried to raise a shield, frantically calling on his energy as the light overwhelmed him. In the light, tumbling helplessly without a sense of what was up or down, Hiroshi could only feel one thing.

Failure.

'The barrier is more than just a wall which the power of a Super Saiyan passes over. It's the failure of our race. It's the failures you and I, will experience throughout our lives. '

Clencing his eyes shut, Hiroshi pushed his power to the surface, the warm glow of a Super Saiyan filling him, he reached out, feeling the barrier for what it truly was.

The Dark Damned Heart

Well hi everyone one. This is the first time I’ve ever written any historical document like this before so I’m not exactly sure what to say. It’s funny actually, I was always so bored in history class and now I’m making my own. Anyway, I suppose it would be best to tell you a bit about myself before I start telling my part of the story. Well, my life was pretty normal for a while, well expect for the fact that I was a mutant. You see I always struggled to find my own way in life. I never fit in with the Brotherhood or the Xavier Institute, I never wanted to be another face in the crowd. I was really a loner for a while. But that all changed one day, the day that the Justice Queens were formed.

It all started on my day off. I headed towards my favorite beauty salon when suddenly I realized that it was being held hostage by a well-dressed redheaded woman. I went in, all ready to fight a villain super-hero style, but then everything changed. It turned out that the hostage taker was an android named Cora, who really just wanted someone to talk to, and who didn’t know how to make friends. My decision to sit down and talk with her instead of fighting turned out to be the best decision I had ever made. Without it, I would have never joined the Justice Queens, and I wouldn’t be the wife of the most beautiful loving woman in the world.

Hopefully the Justice Queens have been fully restored by the time you’re reading this and you’re not asking yourself who the heck the Justice Queens are. Just in case that’s wishful thinking I’ll tell you anyway, because they are too important to me to be forgotten. The Justice Queens are… Well were a group of female superheroes who decided that they wanted to work together to help protect people in their home of New York City. It started out as just five friends who wanted to fight crime together, but then we grew into something more. We were really starting to make a difference, at least until the Demon showed up. The Justice Queens aren’t around anymore, and our tower stands as an abandoned memory, but our spirit and desire to serve justice will never die. But, I’m starting to ramble now. I should get back to telling my part of the story.

Roy was the one who introduced me and the other Justice Queens to the Grimms. Roy had met them at Disney World when he had gone on vacation. That was where he and Hannah had first met, and they were stuck together like glue ever since then. Hannah was a really sweet girl. She reminded me a lot like Cora, someone who just wanted to fit in but didn’t know how.

Anyway, the Grimm Sisters, Roy, Sarah’s boyfriend John, and Sam's kind of girlfriend DeeDee arrived at our tower late one night after their trip to Egypt. Cora and I were fast asleep in our bedroom when suddenly the roaring of a jet engine could be heard overhead. We got up and got dressed as quickly as we could before heading upstairs to see what was going on. We were soon joined on the roof by Valancy, Naja and Kylie, who were also curious about what was going on. The wind was blowing hard on a cold windy night and so as we looked up at the landing jet I wrapped my arms around Cora for warmth.

Soon the black jet’s door opened and six people came talking out onto the landing platform. I saw Roy walking out with his arm protectively around Hannah, looking a bit like he had seen a ghost. Valancy walked up and gave Roy a hug hello. Despite their relatively close ages Valancy had been like a mother figure for Roy ever since he had first come to JQ tower. The rest of the party soon came out of the jet as well, all of them looking equally distressed, except for DeeDee who was playing idly with her magic and smiling and winking at people nonchalantly.

Roy and Valancy had walked off slightly and were having a hushed but intense conversation. I didn’t hear much of what they were saying, but the bits I heard were along the line of “Possession”, “What do we do?” and then the word that stuck out the most to me, “The Demon.”

I left Cora’s side and went over to Hannah, she looked quite upset about something and Sam was standing near her, holding her hand in support. “Hannah sweetie” I said as I pulled her into a warm hug, “I thought you were staying in Egypt for a few more days?” I asked her but before she could answer Sarah spoke up. “We should go inside, we have a lot to talk about and its cold out here.” She said, wrapping John’s arms around her as the group headed into the living room together.

The three couples spent the better part of an hour explaining what had happened in Egypt, and talking about what they should do now. “He’s quite right now, but I know he’s still in there.” Hannah said grimly about the Demon. “I can’t really explain it, but I… can feel his presence.” Everyone was eerily silent for a while until Roy finally broke it. “Valancy and I were talking before. She believes that Hannah is indeed being possessed by… something. Va;ancy says she has some contacts who deal with these kind of things. In the meantime, I think we need to take a breath and figure out how to help Hannah cope with this thing being in her mind.

We continued to talk for an hour and then decided to have some food before people eventually decided it was time to go to bed. Hannah had already fallen asleep on the couch so Roy had picked her up and carried her to a spare room.

They were always such a sweet couple, and I know they loved each other very much. It was like they were destined to be together, after each of them had felt like outcasts for so long. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about that da… Well, I don’t think that’s my story to tell.

Anyway, I suppose I’ll end things here with a simple message. Please never give on people no matter how lost they seem or how many terrible things they’ve done, people can always be brought back into the light. To get out of bed each morning, I have to believe that even the darkest heart, can be made to shine again.

Katie Prince, Former(and hopefully Future) Leader of the Justice Queens

Chapter 4

After the council meetings, headquarters was filled with chatter and movement as people simultaneously prepared for the offensive tomorrow, as well as the festivities for that night. It was a bit grim and out of place to have a party before going off to war, but Sam had always insisted on it. She believed it was important for her people’s moral and gave them a chance to say goodbye that they wouldn’t have on the battlefield.

Dinner came at 6:00 PM sharp as it always did. The compound ran on a tight schedule, to assure that time and resources were not wasted. The dining hall was filled with a mixture of nervous and excited chatter as the prospect of a party and then an impending battle created a strange atmosphere.

Kiris walked along into the large cafeteria to eat, and was accompanied by Xyri, Rin, Chorus, and Verse. After a small incident where Xyri almost absorbed half of the buffet. Rin sat down nervously next to Kiris, it was clear that she had something to say. “Umm Kiris, I heard you and Mars talking today.” That didn’t surprise Kiris too much. Rin heard almost everything that happened in the compound, whether she wanted to or not. Kiris knew that Rin would be nervous about it, especially since she was going to the dance with Mars tonight. It had been Kiris’ idea in the first place. She thought it’d be good for the both of them, even though she wasn’t exactly happy with the jerk who was her genius ex-boyfriend at the moment.

“It’s okay Rin. That had nothing to do with you, or the party tonight. I still want you two to go, I think you’ll have a good time.” Kiris said, giving her best attempt of a smile. Rin looked noticeably relieved, and gave a smile of her own as she began to eat her food. Soon Craig came over to the table with a smile, his arm wrapped around his rainborn wife Elta. “Rin, Chorus, and Verse, we’ll be having a Beta team meeting after dinner, to go over the plan for tomorrow.” Craig told his team, and Elta giggled a bit.

“You know Craig, he always wants to have a plan. Don’t worry though, Sam picked the right team for the job tomorrow. Messing with the enemy’s communications will be fun!” She said to the group before her and Craig walked off hand in hand to their table where Ihra, Mars, and Cyborg were sitting.

Kiris thought about holding a team meeting, but after what had happened between her and Mars early that day, she decided it wouldn’t be a good idea. It made her terribly sad that her and Mars could barely stand to be in the same room together anymore. She fought back the feeling of tears welling in her eyes as she thought about all the happy times the two of them had had together. She gave a heavy sigh and pushed her tray away, evidently not hungry anymore. Xyri saw this and wrapped an arm around Kiris. “Don’t be sad, you have friends here.” The giant slime girl said softly, before following it up with a question. “Uh Kiris, are you gonna finish that?” She asked referring to the Hadrian’s tray of food. Kiris couldn’t help but break into a smile.

“Sure Xyri, go ahead.” Kiris said to her friend who then quickly slammed her face into the tray, absorbing the food and making her friends around her chuckle.

About two hours later, a large number of people began gathering in what was the resistance’s make shift reception hall. There was a stage at the far end, and a wooden dance floor in the center. Chorus, Verse, DeeDee, and Kiris usually took turns providing the musical entertainment. People were already dancing as DeeDee and Kiris sang a duet together.

Mars had shown up a little late and came in through the back entrance wearing a blue dress shirt and beige dress pants. His hair was combed halfheartedly, it was clear that dressing up was not his element. He was never really comfortable at these kinds of parties and hadn’t actually gone to one since he and Kiris had broken up. He made his way toward the front entrance and saw Rin standing there in a pretty black dress that matched her large headphones. She heard him before she saw him and was looking at him a bit awkwardly as he walked towards her.

“Hey Rin, sorry I’m late. You look really pretty.” Mars said a bit shyly but sincerely.

Rin smiled at that, “Thanks Mars, come on lets dance.” Rin said taking his hand and half pulling him onto the dance floor.

Meanwhile Valancy was sitting with Roy and the other former members of the Justice Queens. Valancy had managed to convince Roy to come to the party despite how angry he was earlier that day. Valancy turned to Roy with a bit of a smile, “Would you like to dance Roy?”

Roy merely shook his head, “No thanks Valancy.”

The primordial frowned, “Come on Roy, it’s a party. You need to try to have fun sometimes. You can’t put so much pressure on yourself.”

Roy merely stood up abruptly, tired of the same old speech, “I’m going to go get a drink.” He said, walking away toward the large coolers with drinks in them. Alcohol was harder to come by these days but luckily not impossible. DeeDee proved particularly good at scavenging supplies for them.

Roy grabbed a beer out of the cooler and turned to see Kiris sitting sulkily at a nearby table. He followed her gaze and saw that she staring a bit longingly at Mars and Rin who were on the dance floor together. “Not in a party mood either huh?” Roy asked as he pulled up a chair next to her.

Kiris jumped a bit as she was heard Roy’s voice but then managed a small smile as he sat down, though it was clear that she wasn’t in the greatest of moods. “I guess I’m just longing for the way things used to be is all.” Kiris told the young man who took a swig from his beer and nodded.

“I know that feeling, believe me. This world is so fucked up, sometimes you just wonder what we’re even doing here anymore.”
Kiris looked up at him. “Well we have to keep hoping, that’s all we can do. We have to hope that we can find the light again, somehow.”

Roy gave a weary smile, as if listening to the dreams of a child. “I hope you’re right Kiris. But I’ve seen too much bad to believe in the good without any proof.” He said, taking another sip of beer before continuing. “So, if you don’t mind me asking, what happened between you and Mars? I see the way you two look at each other, what came between you?”

Kiris’ eyes narrowed and she gave a deep sigh. “We lost some friends during the Demon’s invasion. I know everyone did, but Mars lost someone really close to him. When that happened, Mars just… He just changed. He lost his kind childish side, and drive for knowledge and just became obsessed with revenge. Now all it seems he thinks about is building weapons to kill demons and well… It broke my heart. He barely spent any time with me or any of our friends and I could never even talk to him to try to convince him to get help, so I just gave up and I left.” The Hadrian told the mutant, at this point tears were flowing down her cheeks.

Roy reached over and gently took her wrist to try to comfort her. “I’m sorry, didn’t mean to uncover old wounds. I know what it feels like to see someone change right before your eyes. It’s like a piece of you disappears with their old self. Maybe you should try to take your own advice though, keep looking for the light, wherever you can find it.” Roy told her, handing her a napkin to dry her tears.

Kiris took it gratefully and couldn’t but smile. “Well, I think I’m going to head to bed Roy. I’ve got a busy day tomorrow, but thanks for listening.” He told her, standing up and giving Roy a kiss on the cheek before heading off to the barracks to rest.

Roy was a little surprised at this and futilely tried to suppress the blush that rose to his cheeks. A few minutes later Kylie came walking up to the table and grabbed Roy by the hand. “Come on Roy, Valancy said you needed cheering up and I want to dance.” She said with a bright smile as she forcibly but playfully pulled him from the table and onto the dance floor.

Meanwhile one person was noticeably absent from the party, the army’s leader, Samantha Grimm. Just because she thought the parties were a good idea didn’t mean she ever went to them. She spent her nights before battle in the same place every time. It was a private room with a dirt floor and filled with fresh flowers and an unmarked grave. Sam knelt by the grave in silence, tears in her eyes. This was her ritual, and she forced herself to do it so that she never forgot what she was fighting for, or who she was fighting for. Hannah, can you hear me Hannah? She asked through the mental connection that she and her sisters had once shared. It had been silent for over two years, but that didn’t stop Sam from attempting to use it.

Hannah, if you can hear me. I need you to know… I need you to know that I love you. I always have and I always will. I’ve often wondered if we could ever come back from all this bad, or if things would just always be downhill from here. But then I remember the cute little girl clutching her teddy bear, and I remember that things weren’t always like this and they won’t always be like this. I know you’ll probably never hear this Hannah, but I’m coming for you. We’ll speak again dear sister, in this life or the next.

With that Sam clutched onto the grave and tears began to flow steadily from her eyes. The woman who held the weight of the world on her shoulders was really just a frightened girl who wanted her family back.

Knight's Domain

"It's useless!" Anna yelled banging her fist on a metal table.

I"m old enough to be in Sophmore year, I've never been in freshmen year, and you want me to go back into High school now!?" Anna Yelled at Marcus, who stood on the other side of the metal table. Marcus calmly responded, "It'd be good for you Anna, To not Wallow in the Domain for hours on end, then go outside and Beat up criminals, for Hours on End". Marcus turned to a Side Terminal and started typing in a High School Application for Anna. Anna gave a stern Face, "And WHAT? Learn about useless crap that Won't benefit me in the Long run, In my quest to Avenge My Mother? Marcus I want to Avenge my Mother, i told you everything, And you Don't Want me to-" "NO! GOD DAMMIT!" Marcus yelled in an unexpectedly Strong, Angry Voice, slamming a fist down on a metal table attached to the Wall, Slightly denting it. Marcus turned to Anna.

"What I Don't Want! Is for You to sulk In the Domain for Hours on end, Doing nothing but Brooding In Malice and Contempt! What I Don't Want Is for you to Throw Away the pride of Your Life, having No Friends, Social Skills, or Perosnality!". Marcus looked down at the floor, His voice dropped it's tone a bit, "what I don't want.....is for you to Become Me". Marcus looked up at Anna, Her stern face had dropped and she had a plain face, staring at the table. Marcus went back to typing. "So.....you Never?, "I was Home Schooled for the Entierty of high school, went to a private college. Even when i was in Middle school I was...........Below Sociable at best". Marcus kept typing.

"Anna, We've both felt the pain of Our Mother's deaths....", Marcus Turned his Head towards Anna, "And We've both sulked In it". Anna made Eye contact with Marcus, a Sad look on her face, "I don't want you to throw everything you have in Pursuit of Revenge". Anna nodded, sitting back in her chair, "which high School?", "Glenmore High School, Outside of Chicago. 'provides all of the necessities of High School, giving Students the greatest experience, Sociable and Academically.' " Marcus said, In a Tone that was obviously him reading off of the Website. Marcus paused typing, Anna noticed, "everything Alright?". "You need a Registered Adult Guardian", Marcus Half Turned to Anna, "alright, Dad" Anna said in a calm tone. Marcus nodded, Typing in and finishing the Application. Marcus sent it, taking a breath.

"now, Would you be in the mood for Dinner?", Anna raised a confused eyerbrow, "Aren't we supposed to be on a Diet?", "Look, We've just faced 6 of the World's most dangerous Assassins, and a Superpowered Villain who nearly destroyed Denver, I think We're entitled to endulge a little bit". Marcu gave a smirk, Anna returned it. "ready when you are". Anna and Marcus walked out of the room, the sound of the Domain's doors opening and closing in the background was heard, Thomas watched from the Knightcomputer, Sanza spectating with him. [What do you think sir?], Thomas sat back, "a Twelve year old boy, who'd be traumatized by the Death of his mother, Told me six words. Six words I Didn't believe, Bu you know Sanza....."

Craig Thomsen
God of Innovation

Reed extended his hands, his elongated arms catching the young inventor, frowning. It seemed as if he had entered into a coma, Craig being unresponsive. Lifting the inventor up, he began to stride towards the door, heading for Praetoria's medical facilities, the young Mars following him. "Is he going to be alright, Dr. Richards? And what happened to him anyway?"

"Call me Reed, Mars, as Craig said, we're all colleagues here. And I honestly don't know. Craig is a very young man though, only being a few years older than yourself. But, as you know, he went through some terrible things for a year, and while he rarely shows it, there are scars there that will never heal. It was a terrible shock to me when I watched those videos," Reed said, visibly shuddering. "That's part of the reason, if you noticed, Tony Stark is not among. Craig didn't exactly like him in the first place, but seeing Tony advocating and enforcing the Superhuman Registration Act after what had been done to him, well, let's just say they're not on the best of terms. At all." Reed finished, placing Craig on the bed and pulling out a tablet, beginning to tap some things on it as he examined Craig. "Oh wait, he gave us these orbs," Reed said, lighting hitting himself in the head before clearing his throat. "Orb, scan Craig here and evaluate his medical history, see what may have caused this. Then transfer that data to me."

The Orb hummed once, a blue light emitting out of it as it slowly hovered over the prone artificer, what seemed to be Craig's voice in a slightly artifical tone said, "Scan complete. Transferance of data is progressing, 67.43% completed. Adminstering a small electrical shock to nanites in Craig's body. Please stand back. 3...2...1..." The orb buzzed, Craig's immediately snapping open.

"Broke pinky in a soccer game at age 12...," Reed said, scrolling through Craig's medical history. The mutant's eyes widened, and an irregular look of rage contorted on his face, Craig reaching out a hand, the tablet flying out of Reed's hands and disassembling into a few hundred tiny individual pieces, which Craig allowed to drop onto the bed. And then, he stared confused at his own hand, and then, the parts. "Did I do that?"

Reed and Mars looked, bewildered at each other, both nodding simultaneously as Reed said, "You must certainly did."

"That was not me--wait." Craig said, his eyes shining blue quite uncharacteristically. He appeared in a trance, and after a minute, he spoke, as if one amazed. "I can see...everything. That which has been created, that is being created, and that which is yet to be. I see innovation linking us all. Our imagination, being the only limit. I see it, the path of humanity, us going to the stars, unified, becoming the mightiest race in the galaxy. Earth, as the technological capital for all races. I see it, Reed! We rule, supreme, and the few who challenge us are dissuaded by our might until war occurs. But that, sadly is only one path, one future. The other, we destroy ourselves, creating terrible machines of war that would make atomic bombs that look like toys. And I do not know which path we will turn." Craig said, his eyes dimming.

His two fellow scientists stood silent for a moment, shocked. "What happened to yo-" Mars began, before he was cut off abruptly by Craig. The New God stretched out a hand, and Reed's tablet was rebuilt, landing back in the hands of the omnidisciplinary scientist. Then, Craig's half-finished matter converter appeared before it, and he twisted a hand, disassembling it in mid air so that every screw and piece of machinery was apparent. "I was going about it completely wrong," murmured Craig as Mars and Reed continued to look on. Craig's finger glowed for a moment, the mutant touching his device, which went through the final steps of assembling itself, a matter converter sitting on his lap.

"How did you do that?" Mars asked, taking a closer look at the matter converter.

"In my previous attempts, I had been trying to build a converter based on a power source that I did not have, in order to power the conversion. Instead, with my increased powers, I have made the source of the converter's power the residual energy resulting from the converter. And then I provided it with the means to build itself, for the final steps. You see, things naturally want to be built, Mars, that is why so many things in this universe are compatible, analogous with other objects or things. I have become more than just a man. I am a-" and there he paused, wondering what he was about to say. At times, it seemed as if he was in the passenger seat of his one body, watching as someone else, or something else took control, speaking and taking action.

"You are apparently a New God mutant" said Reed, reading from the Orb which had finished processing its scan of Craig's body. "That would account for your increased power levels and correlate with the multiple cases we've heard of after Darkseid's demise. And in further proves that science and magic are connected, and our limited knowledge of science is correct."

"You're thinking of the Law of Conservation of Energy," Craig said, nodding."That Darkseid, being a New God, had godly energies, and as the Law of Conservation of Energy says that the total amount of energy remains constant in an isolated system and also that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but can be change from one form to another. Thus, Darkseid's godly energies were dispersed across the cosmos, and I became one of many recipients of his power for some reason. It is certainly logical."

"What now?" piped up Mars.

"Now, I think I must leave, for now. I know who I am as Craig, the man and the mutant, but I do not know myself anymore, not as a New God. I suppose it's time to see what I'm capable of, and determine whether this power is too likely to corrupt me. I feel a force within me, a desire to build, to create, to innovate, but I do not know what. And that is what scares me, Mars and Reed, the greater things I am capable of now. The terrible things I am capable of. But while I have this power, I suppose it's time to keep it, to use it on a few projects of mine. I should be back soon, if anyone asks after me." Craig said, the band on his wrist expanding to cover his entire body, the Silverwing armor activating, its cores glowing, as always, blue. The New God raised a hand in farewell and then shot off, heading back to Thomsen Tech HQ, to fulfill a promise to a friend.

A promise to create a refuge for her people, and all the forsaken peoples and races of Earth.

A Calming Storm.

Slow internet.....slow internet never changes. I've been clicking the damn refresh button for what feels like ages now, a quick look at the clock confirms its only been ten minutes. Sighing I closed the lid before leaning back in my chair,"I could maybe restart the router or actually do something productive with myself." I said idly spinning the chair before stopping and looking at the living room table. There it was, the book. Getting up I sauntered over to the table, taking a seat on my couch before staring more intently at the book.

"Good morning Ms. Kitty. How are you?"

Idle, it remained idle. I guess it was time to have a little fun with the thing, I poked at it with a pen sliding it over the glass service before it fell over onto the carpet floor, that was a bad mistake.

jfakljfalkjafadBeafhoiafoiCarefulaoijfoidoiaFool

Damn it. The goddamned voices again."Shit alright fine, it won't happen again." And just like that they subsided, I picked up the book before looking at it again,"Y'know it was just some harmless fun, no reason to scratch my brains out." I said before this time setting it more politely down on the couch. I got up rubbing my temples before going to the kitchen sighing softly, I hated when that book spoke; it felt as if someone got a drill and just decided to stab it into my brain. I got a glass of water, drinking it slowly to relieve the headache before going back into the living room. I looked at the book again and picked it up before reading some of its contents. It was kinda funny here I was a programmer, had a degree in computer science and a minor in coding, I designed cheap games for a living, and here I was getting put in place by a book and more so a book on the dark arts. Life was great indeed. I closed the book before going and putting on my jacket and messenger bag before picking up the book again and placing it in. It was a have a life day, so no reason spending it indoors especially when their was no good shows on at the moment and I had slow internet. Turning around I took one good last look at my apartment, it was clean except around the table stand where I got my TV and games at, a quick spell should rectify that. "aihrfoahcleanfjaoija" I uttered before the stand straightened out and my accumulated good reorganized themselves.

"Good now time to start the d-"

I made a soft sigh this time, her voice wasn't that overbearing, defiantly not sliding my mind through a cheese grater bad. "Calm down. A good clean house is reason enough." I said before stepping out and closing the door. The setting was depressing, but that''s Washington. I didn't know what the plan was today, most likely go speak to my mom at the metaphysical store be good to help out maybe find some new books on dark magic. I breathed out and began my stroll into the Seattle weather, maybe mom was right, I should invest in a heavy coat make these walks on those cold and rainy days more manageable, that or just get a umbrella.

Kalder and Guardian were just about to head back to L.A. when Kalder felt this sudden headache. He received vivid images. Arovea, destroyed and scorched, a purple beam making it's way back to Earth, and a woman. The woman appeared to be middle aged, with silver hair and snow white eyes. She was dressed in a fashion he had never seen before, and it was very luminescent. Suddenly, there was a bright purple beam in the sky above them, and Kalder suddenly realized what was happening.

"Move!"

Kalder pushed Guardian out of the way and also jumped away. In the direct middle of where they were standing, was the woman Kalder just saw moments earlier. She stood before them, the ground beneath her shattered and a mystical purple energy emitting from her body and eyes. She stared down at Kalder before speaking, her voice sounded like it was on a whole nother frequency.

"Kalder Sharem. Heed my warning. He will come for you. You must take her and run."

"I-it was you. You're the woman in my vision."

Kalder stopped as he started to feel different. His connection to Arovea, he couldn't feel it anymore. It was like it had vanished. He thought back to the memory. Arovea was scorched as a purple beam shot by. Then he realized something. The lady standing before him, who was known as Amara, was the same purple streak that had nearly turned Arovea into Apokolips.

"You! Your destroyed Arovea!"

In a fit of rage, Kalder got up and attempted to punch the woman, only for her to step back. His arm went in front of her as she grabbed it and pulled it. She grabbed his head and brought it down on her knee. Kalder fell back as Guardian started walking up to her.

"Bad move lady."

Amara backhanded Guardian so hard that he spun around. She then struck him in his back so hard that he was sent flying down the street and all the windows of nearby buildings were shattered. She then walked and placed her foot on Kalder's chest.

"I will tell you again, heed my warning child. I have seen many things, and I know that a member of your race has survived. He will come for her. You must protect her."

Kalder grabbed the woman's leg, but she pushed down harder on him that he felt the ground underneath him crack and crumble.

"Just tell me. Who is coming for who!?"

The woman lifted her foot off his chest and vanished back into the sky in a purple streak, suddenly the sky rippled with thunder and purple lightning. Guardian ran over and helped Kalder stand up. He wiped some blood from his mouth.

"What in the hell just happened?"

"I don't know, but I think she was trying to deliver a warning."

Kalder and Guardian both looked back up at the sky and at the lightning. They had never seen something like this before. But it was the first warning that "he" was coming. An ancient prophecy will then come into light. The prophecy; The death of all but 1 Arovean, who will then be turned into a soldier the universe has never seen.

Maeya flew away from the two men, recognizing one of them, but she was too confused, too afraid, and too tired to think. Maeya quickly flew to a fenced in area, believing the fencing would give her some sort of safety. Maeya looked down at a pool of water in front of her, astranged and bewildered by the new substance on this planet. Before she could reach out to it, a flashlight on her. "Lady, put your hands up!" A security guard yelled, pointing his flashlight and his handgun at Maeya. Maeya couldn't understand his tongue, his language was too foreign for her to understand.

The security guard shot a warning shot, flying past her head and hitting the wall. Maeya immediatley saw the threat, shooting a blast of energy at the guard knocking him back, then flew away from the lot. Maeya didn't know where she was, one moment she was on her home planet, the next she wakes up from some sort of pod and she's on this strange world. Maeya flew up to a rooftop of a tall structure, trying to catch her breath. She then heard an intimidating toned voice that came from behind her, "I think thats enough chaos". Maeya turned to see The Knight, standing behind her. Maeya attempted to speak in her tongue, the knight didnt understand, she fired an energy blast at the stranger.

The Knight roled to the right, avoiding the emergy blast, "sorry, you've left me no choice" The Knight said as he shot a Tranquilizer that struck Maeya in teh shoulder. Maeya's alien physiology would be able to stand up to most types of tranquilizers, but this was The Knight's prototype, made to take down dangerous extraterestrial threats. Maeya collapsed to her knees, feeling sleep absorb her and finally falling unconcious. The Knigt carefully Picked up Maeya, then shooting a grapple up and climbing up into the VTOL.

45 minutes later....

Guardian and Kalder recieved an unknown communications call on their communicators, ["Guardian, Kalder, This is The Knight. I've intercepted an extraterrestrial woman, her biology and dna scans match Kalder's species. Im sending you some coordinates, head to them and we'll discuss more on this issue"]. The coodinates Guardian and Kalder were sent would lead them to a large cliff overhang in the restricted section of johnson park in chicago.

Nico
Nico looked up at Nelli's finger in a bit of awe. He still didn't understand most of what she was talking about, but he knew an average finger would not normally heal that fast. "Wow, that's really cool." Nico told her sincerely. "So you can do a bunch of spells with blood? What else can you do?" Nico asked curiously as Kiris came back downstairs and asked him and Cat about themselves. Cat basically covered it in her reply, and Nico wasn't sure there was too much to add. He had this nagging urge to mention his theory about their parents, but he knew that would upset Cat so he didn't bother. Though that didn't mean that he wasn't secretly hoping that what was on that phone might lead back to their parents' organization.

DeeDee

"It's actually a lot harder than it looks, a hamburger is only one of the few things I can materialize, I don't have creation magic, and the only summoning magic I do have is linked to the demons where I'm the queen and absolute ruler of. I'll give you some hints, magic is about being creative more than anything else so I'll point you in the right direction and you try to find the destination." As I was talking to Sam, my tail began wandering off on it's own, I'm still not used to it so it mainly moves on instinct, it grabs what I want and considering what I want most here is Sam it began wrapping itself around her leg without me even noticing wile I was talking to Sam.

"The thing is, to get a result when using magic usually even master and student have a different route getting there, on the surface it may look identical, but there will be small deviations, sometimes so small anyone would mistake it for identical. The route I took to making this hamburger, was destruction magic. By destroying I created."

Guardian and Kalder arrived in the requested area and Kalder's head was full of many thoughts. Who could the woman be, and was she the one that the eternal was talking about. He didn't know for sure, but he was nervous. How would he explain that their entire planet was destroyed and they were the only ones left. How would their species live on afterwards. All this came to mind as Kalder was somewhat eager to meet her.

A Mind Divided: Bears Test part 2

"So, what are these fears that I'm supposed to be facing?"

"If I told you, then you wouldn't be properly tested." Spoke the bear. "You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you anyway. Look for the underground waterfall. There you will find your challenge. "

"Right... Well, thanks Paddington."

"Paddington?

"You know, like the bear... I don't know. You never told me your name."

"I... don't have one." Spoke the Bear, and then he nodded. "Paddington. Sounds nice. Better than no name."

"Yeah, I know what you mean." She spoke, both of them understanding the pain of having no identity. "There are going to be a lot of changes around here... And not just the demons."

And so her journey continued, walking through the damp cave in the dark in the company of glowing bright fireflies. Oddly enough the fireflies around her seemed to light up the area around her. She supposed that was quite convenient, but then again, she was in her head. She was surprised things weren't more convenient. Another thing was the path. It was almost mazelike, but for some reason Hannah could navigate it perfectly. Like she had been here before.

Honestly being in her own mind was a little odd, she had never been too introspective a person. She tended not to look within so much. She looked outwards more often. She was surprised by what she had discovered, and then things she hadn't yet found out. Like what were the spirit animals really? What were the demons? And what were the other worlds that they had spoken of? And the shards Paddington had ominously mentioned. And she was a shard... what did that mean?

Suddenly she came to a chamber different from the constant hallways of this cave. She thought she heard something, and so looked around, seeing a small figure at the end of the cave room, a small round being. A bear cub, and she was crying. Hannah knelt down next to the bear.

"Hey... What's wrong?" She asked the bear, placing a hand on the sobbing bear cub. She looked up at Hannah. She seemed a little nervous about her.

"It's okay, you can tell me."

The bear nodded. "I got lost... Mama told me not to leave, but I wanted to explore the cave. Then I saw a big scary bear and I ran. Now I don't know where I am."

Hannah paused, then smiled. "Your in luck. I can lead you out of her. Though first I gotta do something before then, okay?"

The Cub nodded. "Okay."

Hannah got back up and waited for the cub to move. She was a little slow, but it was worth slowing down for her. It seems all the Grimm sisters have a soft spot for children.

"Do you have a name?" She asked.

"No..." spoke the cub.

"How about Banjo then? That sound good?"

The little bear laughed. "That's a boys name."

Hannah gave that thought. "True." She spoke. "It's just what I thought to name you at first. Though I suppose it doesn't work that well..."

"Yeah. Sounds silly."

"It does yeah..." Hannah replied.

The bear paused. 'What's you're name?"

"Hannah" Spoke Hannah, now sure of that. Though she wasn't sure she was fully the hannah that was.

"How did you get that name...?"

Hannah stopped. Then paused. "Well..."

"Did you get our sister?" Sam asked Sarah as they ran from the place they once called home. Hannah was too young to remember why, and never asked either. She didn't want to know. Afraid what she might hear.

"Yeah. I got her." She spoke softly, as the two of them came to a bench. They paused, and looked at her, not sure what to do with her. They were both younger than ten, and the had no idea how to take care of a baby.

"What... What are we going to do?" Sam asked, always surprisingly intelligent for her age. "Mom and dad are... gone..."

Sarah looked at her sister with concern, and then at the baby in her arms. She didn't know what they'd do either, but saying those words would only worry her sister. She was the oldest, and she needed to take care of Sam. "We'll be fine sis. We just need to find food and stuff. We'll figure things out." She said. Then smiled as she looked at her youngest sister. For a moment, things didn't seem so bad, looking into the face of the little baby, she saw some semblance of hope. A little ray of light.

"Well, we should go see about getting some food. And maybe some nappies. I'm fairly sure our little sister needs a changing."

Sam chuckled, "Yeah, she stinks!" She paused. "But where are we going to get that stuff. We don't have money."

Sarah frowned, but then saw a large store to her left. She then turned to Sam. "Hypothetically, if we were to break in there, take the cash, some diapers and some crisps, how would we do that?"

Sam paused, thinking. "There's the cameras, but the shop seems mostly closed. We can just smother the Cameras in darkness and then break in. Stuff the things in our backpack. Then leave." She paused. 'but wouldn't that be illegal."

Sarah frowned, nodding, then smiled and shrugged. "Only if we get caught."

"Sarah, are you sure about this, we could get in a lot of trouble."

"Eh. I hear they have nicer food in prison then they sell here, so I wouldn't be too worried." She looked to Sam. "Camera's are out. Ready?"

Sam nodded, and then fired a ball of fire at the lock. It broke it, then Sarah rushed in, grabbing what she could from the shelves. Sam did the same, breaking open the register and grabbing the cash. The two of them were out of there.

"Not gonna lie, this was a pretty sweet haul." Commented Sam as the sat in a motel room. Squatting it. They were ready to hide in case anyone came up. She unpacked her bag and after a few failed ties and gagging, she managed to change the babies diapers.

Sam frowned, then looked to the baby. "Do you... do you remember what mom and dad called her?"

Sarah paused. Then shook her head. "No... they didn't tell us.. before... before..." She paused. "She needs a name."

"A name? Why?"

Sarah sighed. "Well we can't keep calling her baby, or little sister. That's just silly."

"True. And besides, if we have names, it's only fair she have one too." Sam pointed out. Then thought. "What about... Sabrina?"

Sarah shook her head. "They'll think she's some sort of witch."

Sam frowned. "What's wrong with that?"

"No offense. Plus three S names for sisters seems a little corny."

Sam tried again. "Abigail?"

Sarah shook her head.

"Bambi?"

"What is she a deer?"

"Uhhh... Virginia?"

"Too much potential teasing. Let's not be too cruel."

Sam shrugged and then sighed. She spotted something in an opened drawer. She saw an drivers license. She picked it up and read it.

"What about... Hannah?" She paused.

'You want to name her after the person who's room we're in and we're likely going to steal from?"

Sam shrugged. "It's the least we could do."

Sarah sighed, then shrugged. "Hannah sounds like a good name for her I guess. So yeah." She looked down at Hannah. "You're names Hannah. Did you know that?"

The little Hannah giggled as she grabbed onto Sarah's finger. Her grip surprisingly strong...

Eventually they got to the waterfalls, a strange anomaly as the water didn't really seem like it should be there, and the falls were almost silent, It was almost like a mirror. Hannah could see her reflection clearly in the water. She frowned, and then turned, seeing the fireflies around her seem to double. It was water after all, and life seems to congregate around water, even here where the rules are only followed half the time. She was only half sure they were fireflies anyway, since all she saw of them were dancing lights.

She frowned. "I don't get it. How is this supposed to work?" She asked out loud.

Then she saw her reflection... move. Without her having to move. It fell to the floor, then suddenly expanded, increasing in size. It's hair came to cover it's entire body and it's face turned into a wolves snout. It's eyes were a balefull red, rage pilled pits which were hard to look directly at, lest you fall in. Unlike Hannah's regular wolf form, this one had jet black fur, and the eyes. The eyes full of hate. None of the humanity Hannah has.

She found herself stepping back. She wasn't afraid of wolves, she wasn't afraid of werewolves. She wasn't afraid of near anything... except herself. She was afraid of the side of her which this thing represented.

The werewolf charged Hannah, slapping her into a wall. She got back up. Gritting her teeth as she tried to do the same she did for the bear, punching it. Instead she merely annoyed the werewolf, which tossed her into another wall. it could have killed her by now, so all it was doing was toying with prey. It was enjoying this.

Hannah got up, groaning as she looked wide eyed at the monster before her. No pity. No sympathy. Only rage and animal instinct. She saw it's red eyes which saw Hannah as merely a prison, and once it was set free, it would wreck havok upon all she loved. And there was not one single solitary thing she could do to stop it. She dodged it's strikes out of an instinct for survival, rolling here and then to avoid hungry swipes with claws. But she seemed too scared to fight this thing.

But then she saw the cub. The cub she had brought with her. And she saw the cub cry for help. And the wolf turn to face her. The wolf saw prey too slow to move out of the way and too weak the fight back. Easy meat.

That pissed Hannah off. Picking on someone weaker than you was inexcusable in her eyes. She suddenly felt renewed strength in her as she jumped onto the back of the wolf.

The thing howled as it threw her off, sending her into a wall. But this time she was not afraid. She reached out for something. Something she had not had for a long time. And found it. Suddenly Hannah's found she had a sheild in her hand, and in the other was a hammer, though at the very end it looked like a metalic bear claw. She grunted as she slammed into the wolf, hitting it back into the waterfall.

It howled as i banged against the edge of the waterfall like a cage. And then it shrank, slowly, back down into human form. A hannah which looked at her counterpart, and then walked away.

"Hannah..." Spoke the cub. "Thank you."

"No need to thank me. You were in trouble. And I helped. And I think you helped too." She spoke, kneeling down next to the beat and gently stroking her. The bear smiled.

"I think I have a name for you now."

"How does... Courage sound?"

When walking out of the cave with courage, Hannah thought she head something.

Hannah, can you hear me Hannah?

"Sam!" She shouted. Then paused.

Sam! Where are you? I'm sorry I left you and Sarah and Roy, but I'm going to fix it. I promise.

She paused, then thought to herself. Wait... Roy...Who was...

Then she remembered.

As soon as Guardian and kalder landed at the requested spot, They waited a moment, before a Secret door that as concealed to looked like Rock and Stoneopened up infront of them. The Stone pulled back and slid in, revealing a very Furnished and Clean base inside, the Intercom on the side wall in the passage turned on and a Voice came through. ["Head in, Quickly"]. Guardian and Kalder reacted, quickly stepping into the Passage, the Passage closed up behind them concealing the door once more. Guardian and Kalder peered back at the now closed entrance, shrugging to each other before walking forward. Guardian and Kalder walked down into a large Examination chamber, The Knight stood at a large Computer at one side of the room, Maeya was laid down on an examination table.

The knight, dawned in his new Suit, Turned to Guardian and Kalder as they entered. The Knight kept his usual straight faced Demeanor, "Your Friend here is Fine, I had to strike her witha Sedative to knock her out since she kept attacking with her energy blast, Hopefully with Kalder here we'll be able to Reason better with her". The Knight turned back to The terminal computer and ran another scan, The large scanner hanging over the bed quickly moved to the end, scannign upwards. The scanner light was red, though harmless as it Scanned over Maeya who was still in her clothing, though a Medical blanket was laid over her. Guardian and Kalder waited as the scans continued, though on one scan, Maeya woke up. The Knight noticed through the monitor as she rose up, Maeya looked to the Right, seeing The Knight, the Stranger who'd previously knocked her out. Maeya said something in Arvoean before shooting an Energy Blast at The Knight.

The Knight quickly Dodged to the right, escapign the Energy Blast, though the computer Terminal was toasted.

Hadrimmelis saw her allies charge against the looming threat that was the ancient warlord Yuga Khan, only to be defeated one by one, pummeled into submission by the Old God. The truth was that his power was immense, as Manifest had lasted barely a second against him, and even the two strangers who managed to take him by surprise, both of them New Gods by the looks of it, were overpowered with relative ease. Given that, there was no doubt left that Yuga Khan was a terrible threat not just to Earth, but to the entire universe. But leaving aside all of that, he was a threat to Adai, and this above all others was, in the World-Dragon's mind, the reason he needed to be stopped. Her friends, her allies, and the protection of life itself as an abstract entity mattered as well, of course, as she was quite fond of Manifest, Craig, Valka and the Praetorian Emperors, but that which struck her as the highest priority, the greatest reason to stand against the Old God, was the threat that he represented towards her creations, the Hadrians, her children.

Even so, the Black Dragon was hesitant to act. She was not afraid of Yuga Khan, certainly, so that was not the reason. What kind of Dragon would fear such a confrontation, especially when lesser beings were more than ready to charge head-first into battle and put their lives on the line for the sake of their world? No, fear was not the reason... not fear of the Old God, in any case. The issue here was that the potential for collateral damage was enormous. If she stood against Yuga Khan with the intention to actually attempt to halt his advance or drive him back, it could end disastrously for Earth, even if she were to succeed somehow. And then, what would have these heroes struggled for? If the Earth died because someone was trying to protect the Earth, wouldn't Yuga Khan win? Wouldn't it be the greatest irony? Praetoria was resilient, but there was only so much punishment it could take.

However, the time to reflect and meditate had passed. Most of her allies had fallen before the warlord, thankfully not dead, but still incapacitated on some level at the least. Few were left to stand against him, Hadrimmelis herself among them, and so, as Yuga Khan issued a challenge towards those who remained after the near-annihilation of the God of Constructs, the creator of worlds stepped forward, regarding the Old God with a steely glare, standing in front of her fallen friends and remaining allies. She took the blue rose-shaped brooch that Manifest had gifted to her upon the end of the Builder War and removed it, sending it off to a safe place as her crimson cape fell from her shoulders, fluttering in the wind as it flew some distance away from her before finally settling down on the ground. The golden circlet that was almost always seen adorning her head was removed as well, leaving her with only her red coat as she stood before the warlord.

Yuga Khan looked in her direction, evidently unimpressed. "Seems only fitting that a lizard would defend a bunch of-" The warlord spoke, but before he could finish, the one known as the Black Dragon attacked, moving so swiftly from her place that an afterimage of her standing there lingered for a moment before fading away, light itself confused about how to keep track of her movement. In a minute fraction of an instant, she was next to Darkseid's father, even as he spoke the last of his words before being interrupted, and once she was there, she opened up with a right hook to the warlord's face which carried all of the momentum of her speedy charge, something that would spell defeat or even complete annihilation for any lesser enemy. The blow connected, indicating that she had managed to take Yuga Khan by surprise, and, not willing to let her advantage go to waste, she continued by flexing her right arm and moving it in the opposite direction this time, delivering a devastating elbow strike to his head. Immediately after this next attack had connected as well, she used the same hand to grab the back of his neck and pulled down as she simultaneously raised her knee with great force, sending it straight into the Old God's stomach. She did this twice again before finally kicking him in the solar plexus, sending him flying through several walls until the Old God stabilized himself and stopped his own flight, walking back to the room where the battle was taking place earlier.

Six blows in total. Six blows that had caused the wind to hiss and howl as it was forcibly expelled from the zone surrounding the two deities, the dragon and the warlord. Six blows that had caused the earth itself to shake violently beneath Praetoria and the skies themselves to growl in anger from the sheer force of the impacts. Six blows that could have easily destroyed the entire world and then some... and they weren't enough. Of course they weren't enough, it was expected that they wouldn't be enough. There was more where that had come from, but this was all the strength that the Black Dragon was willing to use. Any more and she might well have actually destroyed the world or a part of it, or at the very least kickstarted a natural catastrophe, which she had no intention of doing, especially not in the planet where her friends and many of her children lived. But she was satisfied with the results. Yuga Khan did not seem too affected by the blows, they likely had been only enough to bruise him, but even so, she saw that he could be taken by surprise, he could be staggered, and that, for the time being, was enough. She knew, through her psionic scans, that Xander was making progress. As long as she managed to stall Yuga Khan, everything would be fine.

"You will regret interrupt-" The Khan began, and almost immediately, an enormous blast of concentrated light raced towards him, powerful enough to sear through the entire planet or blow an enormous hole through the ozone cape if it were to miss its mark, but it wouldn't, naturally, and even if it did, it would be snuffed out before it had the chance to do any sort of damage. Hadrimmelis owed Earth that much care, at the very least. The warlord's speech was once again cut short as he scowled, blocking the blast with the back of his hand, something that left him unprepared to deal with the speeding red-clad lady who had just emerged from a Serpent Hole behind him, dropping low and then sending an ascending kick straight towards Yuga Khan's back, sending him flying high into the air. Before his feet had even lifted from the ground, though, she had already straightened up and had one of her palms outstretched in Yuga Khan's direction. From it, an attack infinitely more powerful than the last one emerged, meeting the warlord. It was a beam, but unlike the previous one, this was not a mere light attack, it was so much more, it was a beam formed with the pan-elemental divine energy that was the Dragon Force which fueled the existence of the World-Dragons themselves, and this blast in particular was powerful enough to destroy several star systems with ease, though it would immediately cease to exist if it did not strike Yuga Khan, for the Old God was its only intended target. And indeed, the beam blasted him for several seconds before a shield was formed with the Old God's power, prompting Hadrimmelis to drop her attack. Her enemy soon landed in front of her again, now enraged; his armor certainly seemed worse for wear this time, and some manner of damage had been caused, but it didn't seem like this was the reason he was so full of anger now.

"You're holding back, Dragon." Yuga Khan growled. This time, Hadrimmelis did nothing. She knew that her opponent would be prepared this time, she knew that the same cheap trick wouldn't yield results anymore. It was, in fact, a miracle that it had worked the second time around, she had really been pushing her luck by repeating that gambit, but luckily, perhaps due to his hubris or simply due to fortune, he had not seen it coming, and hadn't been able to pry it from her mind, either. Regardless, having no obstacles to his speech this time, the warlord continued. "I know you have been keeping me from tearing apart the minds of these insects, lizard. But you were careless." Yuga Khan stated as he pointed a hand in the direction where Xander and Thanos were working. The Black Dragon cursed under her breath. Though she could exert the power of her mind freely, unlike the power of her body or the Dragon Force itself, which could devastate half the universe if they were misused. Even then, shielding her own mind and that of every one of her allies from an Old God who was so closely connected with the Source was proving a difficult task, and now Yuga Khan knew that the Mad Titan and the Golden Guardian were working to bring him down. She didn't know how this happened; in the heat of battle, she supposed, it must have slipped from her mind. It was not often that she fought an equal, or even someone stronger than herself.

Yuga Khan casually sent an enormous burst of energy towards the room where Xander and Thanos were working, and immediately, Hadrimmelis stepped through a Serpent Hole to stand in the path of the attack, shielding the two begrudging allies with her own body, not allowing the energy blast to reach their room. Now, this mortal disguise that she so often adopted bore within the awakened might of a World-Dragon, and as such, it was every bit as powerful as her own true form. Thus, her skin was just as resilient as the massive black scales that covered her real body, able to withstand most anything that was thrown at her, but even then, she felt pain. She felt pain from the stress of standing against the Old God's blast. His attack, truth be told, was every bit as awe-inspiring as hers had been, perhaps even more: the Old God clearly hadn't used all of his might with that blast, either, but unlike Hadrimmelis, he had no reason to hold back, nothing to protect, only things to destroy, and that made him far more dangerous than she could hope to be in this scenario.

As if it hadn't been enough with the blast, though, just as the last vestiges of energy were fading from existence after having been blocked by the World-Dragon's stalwart stance, Yuga Khan appeared right in front of her, as quickly as she had moved towards him earlier, and punched her with such force that she was sent straight into the ground, tearing through the whole of Praetoria's height before falling into the ocean, all the ground and metal that she had destroyed with her crossing not serving to slow her down one bit, tidal waves emerging from the point where she had broken through the surface of the water. However, Hadrimmelis was not defeated, far from it, and so, she opened a Serpent Hole right in front of her, leading her back to the battlefield in Praetoria, some water spilling out of the exit portal as she shot forth from it, straight back towards Yuga Khan, sending a punch towards his solar plexus that carried all of her momentum. The Old God staggered under the blow, and Hadrimmelis took this opportunity to send a kick towards his head, but before the blow could connect, her opponent seized her leg and began swinging her around as a mallet, swinging at the ground indiscriminately and causing her to smash into the surface of Praetoria again and again and again, the entirety of the floating city rumbling as a result, until finally, the warlord released her, throwing her away and causing her to smash through several dozen walls.

When the World-Dragon stood up, she looked a lot worse than Yuga Khan did. Naturally, her outward appearance was not really indicative of the true extent of the damage caused to her, but in any case, it did show that damage had, in fact, been caused, and that, coupled with the appearance that the Dragon Goddess had at the moment, was likely demoralizing. Her coat was torn, her hair was all messed up, and dirt, sweat and blood coated much of her, including part of her face, though her steely, determined expression never left her, showing that she was still not just able, but willing to fight against the Old God who threatened her friends, her children and her universe. And this, she demonstrated by charging towards Yuga Khan once again, never surrendering, never giving up the fight.

"How persistent, if you continue, I will-" The warlord spoke before being interrupted for the third time that fight, this time by the one attack that could cause him a significant amount of damage and, most importantly, pain.

A nut-shot.

Hadrimmelis wordlessly thanked Otis for the advice he had given the group earlier on how to fight that monster of a God, confident that a glance and a nod would be more than sufficient to convey her feelings. Turning back to Yuga Khan, however, she did not expect him to have recovered so quickly, but it seemed that after the incident with Otis, he had grown more resistant to such underhanded tactics, and so, when the Black Dragon turned back, Yuga was already in front of her once more, and, unable to do anything else in reaction, she locked hands with him, entering a contest of sheer physical prowess as the Old God attempted to overpower the Dragon Goddess and vice-versa. Alas, Yuga Khan's strength was, quite simply put, monstruous, and though Hadrimmelis was able to hold him at bay for a time, perhaps a very long time in comparison to the others, but in the end, no matter however long she was able to maintain the struggle, he was the stronger of the two, and so, slowly but steadily, he inched closer. Not content with simply overpowering her, he approached, now close enough that she could feel his breath on her face, and drawing closer still.

"You will pay for your insolence." He told her.

Then he opened his mouth. And then, he closed it.

The Black Dragon's scream of pain echoed through the entirety of the battlefield, likely reaching even Xander and Thanos and whoever else was still in Praetoria during that crisis. She staggered backwards as one of her hands clutched the left side of her face, blood leaking out from the gaps between her fingers. She was agonizing. She was confused. She was terrified. She had never expected that to happen during the battle, and yet, he had done it so casually, so nonchalantly. He was a monster through and through, and this, more than any other deed he had performed since arriving at Praetoria, made her certain of it. As she clutched her head, trying to recover from the shock and the sheer pain of what had just occurred, she glared at Yuga Khan. He was grinning smugly with bloody teeth as he looked at her, clearly pleased with her reaction, and that, she decided, she wouldn't allow.

Regaining her bearings and focusing her strength, Hadrimmelis charged Yuga one last time, removing her hand from her head and drawing it back as if she planned to punch the Old God with it. But as she moved towards him, her hand began to change. Right in the center of her open palm, something appeared, a portal of sorts through which a black spike jutted out, seemingly growing in size until its circumference was nearly as wide as the hand itself. It would likely appear as something rather bizarre to most of those present, but if any of them knew anything about the World-Dragons, and most importantly, their physiology, they might've been able to guess, especially when the black spike began to glow with a bright aura that was nearly blinding to look at. That strange object peeking out of the Black Dragon's hand was nothing more and nothing less than a minute fraction, the very tip in fact, of a worldfang, one of the myriad vicious spikes that sat in rows within the maws of the World-Dragons. They were immensely powerful objects, all of them bearing properties that corresponded to their owners, all of them capable of piercing anything that was weaker than the scales of the dragons to whom they belonged. One such object was on the palm of Hadrimmelis' hand, and it was slammed into the shoulder of the Old God with the force of a blow that could level the solar system behind it.

It went through.

Hadrimmelis then stepped back, the black spike on her palm now stained. She was still glaring at Yuga Khan, blood oozing through the hollow eye socket that had once housed her left eye. It seemed that, at that moment, the Old God was just as shocked as she had been before.

"Perhaps I can bleed, Yuga, but so can you." The Black Dragon spoke solemnly as the worldfang disappeared back into her mortal disguise. "But, no matter how you might want to deny it, there is a difference between you and me, a difference that is not of power, or cruelty." She said, outstretching her arms, gesturing towards all those who were present. "And you know what that is, Old God?" The Goddess asked, allowing herself to smile for a moment.

"I! AM NOT! ALONE!"

And as she bellowed, a psionic roar echoed within the minds of all those present, and every single hero who had stood or was yet to stand against Yuga Khan was suddenly filled with a mystic, divine energy, the power of the Dragon Force that was now coursing through them, thanks to the mediation of the Black Dragon. She had bought so much time, but she knew that she could not fight against Yuga Khan alone. But then, she didn't have to. She had many friends, many allies who were willing to put their lives on the line to protect their world, and the least she could do was help them fight.
