I was glad to see that my intervention had turned the tides on this doppleganger. But the job was not yet finished. My ring began to flash a brilliant and vibrant blue as I felt the energy flow through me. Looking down upon the green skinned martian, I gave a corny smile as I tried to adjust to what was going on. As I had only possessed this power for a very brief time. So, I decided to allow her to take the lead. "I will let you take point on this one. Go on, and I will follow your lead." I told her as I began to consider what constructs I would be using from my ring. It was then that I spotted the Yellow clone of the Lantern and saw that she had forged a large arsenal of blades in which sped towards me at a break neck pace. In in a seemingly desperate effort to remove me and by extension my ring from the equation, and perhaps regain control of the battle.
I on pure instinct summoned a shield in front of me as the yellow blades pelted against it I was pushed back just by the sheer volume of the attack. However as she circumvented the defense by guiding the blades around the flanks of the shields I quickly shot myself above the attack narrowly missing the business end of all of the blades. But the yellow lantern would not be made a fool of so easily, as she shot at me with great speed and made her way above me, as I looked up, she constructed two large spiked slabs on both sides of me, and proceeded to try and mash me in between the two of them.
I threw out both arms as I summoned a massive suit of armor, which I had hoped would protect me, no pun intended. The pressure was great however and as she focused more and more on crushing me, the more I had to strain to keep myself from being crushed, but as she momentarily lost her focus on the Green Lantern, that had left her open to a counter attack.
The skin of the Kraken was slimy, and quite tough. The weapon in my hand was quite useless in the overall scheme of things and in the back of my mind, I knew the outcome of this battle, however that will not convince me to resign myself to fate. The fierce rain from the raging seas and storm collided against me as I saw another tentacle fly toward me as it wrapped around my shield, my broken arm to weak to keep a hold of it and threw it into the ocean, for ever lost to the depths. The same tentacle made a strike at me as it wrapped tightly around my body, already beginning to fracture bones as its grip continued to constrict me. With only a single free arm, I was unable to reach my sword, and the spear in my hand was snapped by the massive beast. Slowly, but inevitably I was raised higher up, until I was face to face with the monster.
Its rancid breath, likely the stench of a thousand lost souls throughout time combined with the rotting remains of vessels of past ancient fleets. The fight was over in a predictable fashion. Ares was right, without my powers...there was nothing I could do. It was then that in a shock of pain that the monster almost broke my body in half as it tightened its hold. Blood gushed from my mouth as internal bleeding intensified.
The creatures eyes were what one would expect, as it observed its minute victory, which was hardly an effort on its part. The eyes were empty of emotion, feral and fierce, like the eyes of a tigress just before she pounces on a prey. The Kraken, then let loose a roar which could shake the land and essentially left me deaf and disoriented, as if the loss of blood was not enough.
Finally bored with me, I was cast aside like a broken toy from a child. As I had ceased amusing the beast. I could not even feel the fall, as I was pulled down beneath the raging waves. At first, all I felt was the cold. Then came the burning sensation that comes with being unable to breathe, but as I was pulled deeper and deeper down. The cold became the sensation of being stabbed my a million needles and the worse part, was the endless blackness. As my corpse began to sink to the deepest parts of the ocean.
My immortal life over, I had finally achieved a death worthy of the Last Spartan Warrior.
