Patho/John Holsmburg
New York City

Patho tossed the man-hole cover aside with his free hand, letting the full sunlight fill the tunnel beneath him to the point that it almost blinded him with its contrast to the normal darkness he was used to.Pulling himself up from the abandoned service tunnel exit he bore witness to the destruction wrought by whatever conflict had been taking place there.Rubble and a large amount of shattered glass was strewn across the street, with a few cars left abandoned where their owners had left them in fear of the fighting.

The massive Avengers Tower stood like an obelisk of glass among the drab buildings around it, but the architecture didn't distract from the destruction wrought in this area of New York.Broken chucks of concrete, brick, and steel laid about as testaments to the raw destructive power that had removed them from their originating apartment and office buildings. Some cars which had been left behind were also suffering the after-marks of the fighting and were nothing more than twisted hulks of what they had once been.

As he gauged the level of woe that had been brought to this city he lived in, he could hear the sound of an explosion in the distance.Weather it was the continuing fight between the 'heroes' or it was just a random explosion that might have resulted from the fighting's destruction he didn't know, but what he did know was that there was currently no one on the street so he was free to move about to a higher place to see the destruction's full results.

Still seeking to stay out of the direct sunlight, he rushed across the street and into an ally where the fire escape ladder extended all the way to the ground level. He made a quick but powerful jump to the first ladder and scrambled up several stories in a mere minute, reaching the top with little effort.Once up on top of the apartments roof he stood on the ledge of the building and looked out on the damaged skyline of the block and surrounding area.

Owen nodded as Ranger and Randall left. "I should take his advice and head under ground. The manhunt is going to be a while finding me," he said to himself. The chopper circled. Again. "I'm taking his advice," he thought, "that chopper has been circling too many times." His suspicions were correct when a man descended from the ladder of one of the choppers.

"Owen Grady, you are surrounded! Give yourself up!", the officer said.

"I'm right here-you don't have to yell," Owen replied as he came out from behind the satellite.

"Are you ready to surrender?" the officer demanded, "Because if not, we will use our full firepower on you to change your mind."

Owen put his hands in the air, "I'm not surrendering. I'm only giving myself a head start." He leaped from the building as the officer opened fire, making use of the experimental glider that he had saved for this kind of plan. He landed in an alley. He was missing his hat, and found it lying by a manhole-that was open. "Perfect, I'll take the underground route," he said, slipping beneath the city into the dark tunnels.

Patho had seen the police coming bu hadn't known if it was because of the fighting or if it was just because someone had called them be cause they mistook him for the swamp-thing or killer-croc again. In any case he had satisfied his curiosity and had seen the destruction the more known hero's had brought to the city for whatever reason they had, and with the return of the authority's after the fact he was done taking in the view.

He jumped onto the escape ladder and slammed down on it hard when he landed so it would break free of its locks from his sheer downward force. With a loud snap of the rusted locks that kept the aged ladder in its secured position, he gripped hard on the ladders side rails as it plummeted down the side of the building. With a metallic rattling and a sudden violent jerk the ladder came to a stop only feet above the alleyway, a reasonable height for any normal person who was escaping the apartment if a fire had happened.

He heard a bullhorn blaring and a helicopters whirling above it as he ran down the alley, running back to the man-hole and the retaliative safety of the underground where he was hidden away from the public eye.As he reached the man-hole he could hear the sound of sirens and clearly heard the bullhorn calling out for survivors to real themselves. He wanted to avoid both the police and the survivors, and did so as he pulled the circular steel man-hole cover that would hide his manner of movement and leave the trouble to the heroes that were the public's favorites.

As he slid down the man-hole ladder he could feel something was different from when he had exited the tunnel, he couldn't tell if it was just the air from the surface mixing well with the dank air bellow or if it was just his senses begin mixed up by his extended stay above ground. Then as he landed on the platform he could see there had clearly been someone going through the trash that covered the floor except from around the fire pit he had passed before.

Switching his view to his heat vision sensitive left eyes he was sure someone else was here with him now, and he was not particularly happy about it.Silently he moved towards the shadows trying to seek out the intruder into his realm of darkness.

Owen heard footsteps further down the tunnel. Someone else was here. His shotgun was already cocked, so he took it out and pointed, "Don't move a step. I have a gun and I know how to use it. Who are you with? The crazy Registrationists? I won't come willingly, though. You'll have to fight me before you lock me up. Then you'll know exactly how I play my game." His fingers held the trigger. "If you're looking for Owen Grady, I'm right here. I'm a superhuman with elemental powers and starlight-related powers. Come and get me if you want me."

"Calm yourself, I am no freind of the Registrationists!" Patho said in the low guttural voice that this form made him sound like.He didn't have the best sounding voice when he was Patho and it wasn't 'friendly' but he tried to make it less confrontational despite the mutation.

"I am Patho, defender of the tired and the lost in the underbelly of this city." He said as he stepped closer to the heat signiture ahead of him in the dimly lit tunnel, holding his clawed hands out to show he was not armed, but hiding the fact that there was a chemical sprayer melded into his right arm ready to spray if this Owen character tried anything.Patho considered that he was quite frantic in his actions and may have been running from the police that drew near to the entrance earlier.

"I'm just wondering what your doing in my tunnels?" He asked, staying a good distance away but keeping pace with the man with the shotgun pointed at him.

Osnil wrote:"Well, Patho, I have made myself a target for the registrationists, and decided to hide in here. I had no idea it was your tunnel," Owen replied, lowering the shotgun. "If you're not with the Registrationists, then you're with the Anti-Registrationist then? I set myself up to be the first targeted nonconformist so that they would come after little old me, and in the meantime, all the other non-registered heroes can have a headstart. I'm only here for a night."

"Noble, quite noble. But I'm doubting your going to enjoy a stay in this particular tunnel." Patho said as he slowly stepped around Owen as he lowered the shotgun, circumventing him as he stood in the middle of the tunnel.

"If you are who you say you are then I am obliged to provide a fellow like-minded individual at least temporary shelter from the Pro-Regs.If you want to follow me I can bring you to a safer tunnel that's a bit farther from all the action than this one is, besides I only ran a couple of thugs who were using this place as a meeting point only half an hour ago." He explained as he backed away from Owen and receded into the darkness.

"Come along if you want, I'm staying out anyways but need to get a better look at something if found recently." Patho reached into his pocket and pulled out the rough thumb sized glass chuck.

Osnil wrote:This stranger almost had a likeable tone to him, yet, not so likeable. Maybe it was the glowing eyes, but despite that, the stranger seemed to agree with him on registration, calling him "a like-minded individual", even going so far as to offer him help and warn him about the thugs. He kept his distance, but stayed close enough to see where the stranger was going off to. He saw the stranger pull out some kind of shard. It looked like some kind of diamond of some sort. Following the stranger into a new tunnel, he crawled in one of the subway cars and went to sleep.

While Owen slept in one of the less deteriorated mothballed subway cars, Patho took the time to retrieve the radio from the service tunnel they had met in only hours ago.On his way there and back he tried to piece together the days events and make a full picture of the situation in New York for him to plan, but each time he ended up at the same sad conclusion. He realized that no matter what happened the Pro and Anti Regulation forces would clash either with words or with fists over this new law, causing untold mayhem as the groups that were supposed to protect and serve the public were locked in a veritable civil war. This mayhem would lead to an upsurge in violence and crime across the globe, which was something both sides would have to counter as they fought among themselves.

He returned to the subway train depot and found the stranger still asleep, tired and worn out from whatever the day before had caused him to seek safety in the tunnels of Patho's protectorate. But still Patho felt no desire to sleep and while he knew it would pain him latter once he returned to human form, he stayed awake and on gaurd listening to the radio as news of yesterdays fighting and todays breaking news stories flooded in on the low voice of the radio announcer. And while the time passed slowly it also gave him insight into the minor crimes that had been out-shined by the massive battle around Avengers Tower.

"In other news a murder suicide has rocked the jeweler and diamond trade community as two of the most renowned appraisers in New York have been found dead this morning.Police say this may have resulted from an argument over an earlier incident when several African nationals were escorted out of their office after offering dimonds from an anonymous source to the two men.The investigation is ongoing but the likely story is that the two had different opinions on the buying of possible conflict dimonds and a fight may have broken out that resulted in ones murder and the other likely committed suicide in sorrow.Speaking of murder the DOW was practically murdered as the stock market plunged ....." Patho stopped listening as the crime watch news moved into the financial segment, causing him to lose interest imminently.

He remembered the thugs with guns hat had been using the service tunnel as a meeting place for whatever dealings they had, and recalled them speaking some sort of African dialect. This sparked his interest and caused him to pull out the glass chuck again, to examine it for something he may have missed in the pitch dark of the service tunnel where he found it.Almost not believing he could have missed something so obvious he ran from the radio and into the subway car where Owen slept, and shook him awake.

"What does this look like to you?" He held the thumbnail size chuck out to the man and knew it would be odd being shaken from his sleep by Patho but his mind almost could comprehend what he had missed and he needed someone to confirm his suspicions.

Owen lay asleep for a while, then he was flung awake by the stranger, who demanded, "What does this look like to you?"

"Easy, buddy. I just woke up from a deep sleep," Owen yawned, then looked at the stranger's outstretched hand. "It's a diamond, I think. Why? Is there some sort of problem?" He began processing all possibilities. "Did this belong to the thugs you mentioned earlier-I can't tell if it was yesterday or earlier."

"This diamond did in fact belong to them, and I was a fool to have mistaken it as something else with its edges and surface so rough and un-refined.Almost half an hour before we met those three thugs where waiting in that service tunnel for some sort of meeting or deal, I don't know which but what what I do know is that they spoke some sort of African dialect and after I scared them off they accidentally left this behind in their haste." Patho explained the events prior to their meeting and how he had come to find the diamond in more detail to the surprised and drowsy Owen.Holding the diamond up in the air so that even with its rough cut exterior you could see the glimmer of its buety from the semi-translucent interior.

"I just heard a report on the radio as you slept, there was a murder-suicide yesterday evening and the victims who worked as jewelers were last seen with African nationals being thrown out of their buissness. You have to see some sort of correlation between these two events as well do you not?" He was hoping he wasn't going crazy, hoping this made as much sense out loud as it did in his mind.

"I you are still trying to give all the other non-registered heroes a head-start, why not give them an example as well.Help me find out what this rock has to do with the murders and you'll show the Pro-Regulationists that even without goverment backing we can do good for the people, besides what better way to leave a trail for the Pro's to follow than a trail of criminal bodies!?" Patho offered the deal as a sort of repayment for the nights rest, even though he would have been happy to see the man go back to the surface and forget he ever met him.Because to Patho it was all perspective of how to better society, not of how to advance his own personal gains. And after hearing Owens plan Patho thought that this man was almost the same as he was, looking out for the general group instead of himself. That gave him admiration of him and a desire to work with such a man to try and continue their true calling which was to protect the good and punish the evil.

He smiled, and said, "So we're going to set an example and leave a trail for the pro-registrationists while we investigate a jeweller? I like it. We help while we help even more. And I do owe you for giving me a safe place to sleep tonight. Though, when it comes to criminal bodies, I hope you mean unconscious, not dead ones. If it's an accident, it's not our fault, but to purposely kill them, that is a problem. If I was to leave a string of dead bodies, the pros would have a hayday and parade it as evidence that superhumans need to be controlled. Enough of that, though. Where do we start?"

"That is correct my new freind, you will be killing two birds with one stone and assisting me with keeping the criminals from taking advantage of our debacle with he Registration Act." Patho was delighted to hear that Owen would help him and with such a man and an array of skills at his disposal he and Patho would hopefully put a handle on this sudden upturn in diamond related crimes and secrets in New York before they got out of hand or went into hiding.

"Oh and I did mean 'bodies' in an unconscious state for the authorities to collect, I'm not a monster you know!Well in that sense at least." He said as he walked out of the static subway car that Owen had been sleeping in and headed toward one of the intersections where the trains from over five different stations would go to switch their tracks over to head in a different direction.Having been patrolling these tunnels and the New York underground in general for a while he had come to know the schedules of each train by heart and knew that there was one heading fro the diamond district around this time.

He looked back at Owen and gestured for him to follow him, then took a look at his wrist watch. It was partially covered in the green exoskeleton that covered most of his body but enough of the watch face was showing that he could tell what time it was.Within a minute the grinding of steel wheels emanating from the right tunnel indicated that he was correct in his assumption that the train to the diamond district would be coming.

"Good, we'll be able to take that Northbound train to the diamond district if we just 'Hop' a ride as it passes this intersection." He spoke louder through the gas mask as the trains approach began to drowned out all other sounds in the tunnel.

"Time to go!" he yelled as the trains lead cabin whooshed by and was followed by a long centipede like collection of passenger compartments where there was surprisingly few if any people he could see through the windows.

With his hand extended out to a dangerously close distance between his fingers and the train, he looked back to Owen and gave a thumbs up with his free hand. Then in an instant he grabbed hold of a handle that was meant for maintenance personal to climb up onto the trains roof and used his strength to pull himself onto the trains side.He looked at Owen as he rapidly became a distant figure and hoped his new freind could manage to get on board as the last few passenger cabins began to pass over the intersection where he stood.

Northbound train to the Diamond district, New York

The three men sat on the side seats of the train as it rolled along on its northern trek to the diamond district, where they had planned to return to after a long two days of running dimonds back and fourth for the paranoid black market dealers of the Manhattan underworld. All three were tired and near exhausted from the long hours of having to walk up and down the streets and back alleys of the city to meet with and bargan with the dealers, and while they had much success with most of their dealings they had also suffered many setbacks due to several reasons beyond their control.

They had first been forced to avoid the Bulgarian connection they had been scheduled to meet with after Iron man and Naja along with several other supers had began to have an all out brawl in downtown. This had caused the Bulgarian to call and reschedule his meeting place to a nondescript service tunnel that he knew of, but when the Slavic dealer had been late by two hours for his own meeting and something had been skulking in the darkness of that tunnel the African thugs decided aginst waiting any longer for him and left without selling their product.

But apart form that and a few other scheduling issues they were happy to be carrying back a briefcase filled with several hundred thousand dollars in cold hard american cash, along with a remaining briefcase full of rough cut blood dimonds that they had failed to sell to the Bulgarian. But yet with all the money and diamonds in their hands, two of the thugs were asleep while the third stayed awake playing with his pistol as he waited to wake them when they arrived at their destination.

He had been bored as he messed with the trigger action on his 1911 pistol until he heard a bump on the side of the train that had caused him to jump from fright. One moment the window showed nothing but the blur of the outside tunnel lights going by without distinction aginst the darkness , then the next there was the dark figure that had been skulking around in the service tunnel before, his four glowing green eyes peering into the passenger car as they had back int he tunnel.

"What the hell!" The frightened thug yelled out as he violently shook the one thug that had been sleeping on the seat next to him awake , then threw the briefcase full of dimonds at the other one who had been sleeping on the opposite side of the train car.

"There's something out there." He yelled loudly as the other two thugs stood up with their pistols in their hands. Then they heard another thump on the passenger car behind theirs, an indication that there were more than one of whatever had been in that service tunnel and that they were following them now.

"Shoot them both!" The other thug said as he turned to the roof where the second thump had come from and began to fire in the general area the thump had come from. The other began to fire at the glowing eyes and although still drowsy from their sleep they were still presented with a literally glowing target as they fired at the window and shattered the glass.

"OWEN WATCH OUT!" Patho yelled out over the screeching of the trains wheels aginst the tracks and the whipping of the wind as the train barreled through the underground at high speed.

He had peered into the passenger car only seconds before to see if it was clear for him and Owen to climb in through the emergency hatch on the passenger cars roof, but had only managed to catch a glimpse of the interior before he saw a gun pointing at him through the glass. Now he could only crawl along the side of the train car as the three passengers began to open fire on him and Owen, thankfully they both had not revealed their positions fully and whoever was firing at them was not sure exactly where to shoot so they fired in the general areas that both he and Owen had landed on the train.

The window Patho had been looking through shattered behind him under a hail of bullets as he crawled away on the trains side, hoping that Owen was having the same luck in avoiding the bullets as he was.He kept below the windows and dangerously close to the ever moving ground below the train in an effort to avoid giving them a full target, and more than once almost lost his grip only to be saved by his claws digging into the steel skin of the train.

He then peered again through the window he had moved to and could see the gunmen clearly as thugs with pistols nervously looking toward the broken window where he had been only moments ago.He gripped the windows edges and with a burst of energy he pulled himself up and through the pane glass of the window.

Causing yet another window to shatter as he threw his body through it with all his might, he roared as he was cut in several places by the sharp shards of glass that he slid over as he went through. But he knew the the injuries were minor for him and that his bodies mutant biology would heal the cuts within minutes as the Deathspore virus sought to keep its host alive for as long as possible. But his focus was on the thug who had shot at him before, who was likely getting an unpleasant surprise as Patho collided with him and began to try and yank the gun from his hands.

Patho had finally wrestled the thug to the point of exhaustion and had pinned him to the floor, pressing him hard aginst the ground with his knee as he checked on Owen and his own trouble maker that had surrendered. Both of these gangers had defiantly had enough of the fighting and had surrendered somewhat willingly, but they were both still fully capable of putting up a fight or escaping if they saw the opportunity. The fight had went in their favor but whatever this thug Owen was interrogating was talking about didn't sound all that easy as this had been.

"What should we do with these two delinquents?" Patho asked as he pressed a bit harder on the thug beneath him.

He noticed that he had indeed been shot in the arm, his red blood mixing with the green slime of the Deathspore as it fell to the already disease ridden floor of the subway train and made it all the more toxic. He knew that his mutant immune system would heal the wound with the biological cauterization of his skin, but he was still just falling off the high of combat and he would be feeling the gunshots full effects soon enough.

"Normally, if we had rope, I'd just hang him from a streetlight with a note, but since they're so annoying, why don't we dump them into a random cop car with a note. It'll help with my trail and it's two less criminals on the street."

"Then let us waste no more time with them, the other is liable to get away." Patho shot a glance at the thug that had shot him as he laid pinned to the ground.

He moved his knee off the thug and stood up, letting the man breath without someone else on his back and giving him a sense of relief that he hadn't died.Helping the thug up seemed like the nice thing to do for someone who had been shooting at him only a few minutes ago and with one easy heft the thug was on his feet. Then without a word or a warning Patho balled up his fist and punched the man straight in the side of the head, knocking him unconscious and causing him to collapse back into Patho's arms .

"He'll struggle less!" Patho said nonchalantly to Owen as he hefted the knocked out thug up onto his shoulders and began a light jog that would slowly increase into an all out run as he rushed down the passenger cars and out the open doors to the platform. The cowardly thug had a head start on them both but Patho was sure he saw a fleeting glimpse of him as he ran up the stairs and onto the street level above them.

Owen watched Patho, and then smacked his thug over the head with the butt of his shotgun. He threw the downed thug over his shoulder and chased after Patho as quickly as possible. He caught up with Patho and scribbled a note. Handing it to Patho, he said, "Leave this on the windshield after we finish dumping them off. I'll divert the officer." He shoved the other body onto Patho's shoulder. Sighting an officer nearby, he casually strolled out in front of him. "Hey!" the officer shouted and began to pursue.

"There you go." Patho said as he slapped the note Owen had given him onto one of the thugs backs.

With a quick jolt of his shoulder he held both thugs over his shoulder as he walked over to the police cruiser, then unceremoniously dropped both of them and the attached note onto the cars windshield. The cruisers tampering alarm immediately went off and caused Patho to consider what he had been told to do and what he had just done.

He looked at the two criminals, one laying beside and one laying on top of the cop car in very awkward positions. He though maybe he had taken Owens instructions the wrong way and should have just left the other thug next to his freind, but the damage was done and the thugs were the polices problem now so he could say the original objective was accomplished.

Patho then rushed off in the direction of the store the thug had told them about before being knocked out, knowing that Owen had agreed to meet back up with him there after he had ditched the cop.

When he arrived where the store was supposed to be he found not only the store but an all out battle ensuing in front of it.Gunmen dressed in street cloths and SHEILD agents were locked in a desperate fire fight with each other as some sort of voodoo man and a teenager were exchanging blows aginst each other. They had defiantly found the place but it seemed they were late to the party.

Patho saw that Owen had been taken by surprise when the large African thug with the steel jaw came up from behind him and snagged him in a bear hug, but even though Iron Jaw had strength on his side Patho was sure that Owen was resourceful enough to get out of the situation with minimal scars.Patho's concern was the little old Voodoo man who floated menacingly toward the teenager who had his back turned on him and was heading to fend off the SHEILD agents assailing them from the other side of the street. The battle was an all out free for all with three separate forces converging on this store and battling each other for their own reasons.Patho could only do his best to help the teenager who was apparently an acquaintance of Owens and therefore likely a freind, and the best way to help was keeping this witch-doctor off him.

"Old man or not, your time of crimes in New York is over." Patho yelled over the gunfire and explosions of the battle raging around them.

He ran forward with his claws bared and ready to slice at the masked magical man, he knew that this man was not going to take him alive and he extended no such courtesy back as he was ready to rend him limb from limb if he didn't surrender. He lept forward and readied himself to tackle the old man with all his might.

"Sorry but I'm allergic to needles!" He snapped back at the old man who was now right above him with the dagger brough back for a killing strike.

Patho quickly held up his right hand and using the muscle like tendons throughout his Deathspore exoskeleton he switched the setting on the Propagator chemical sprayer that was melded with his arm to smoke screen. With the clenching of his fist Patho dispensed a cloud of chemically activated smoke screen that sputtered from the nozzle mounted underneath his right wrist right into the Shadow Sangoma's face.

Using the smoke as a distraction and a cover for his next move, he rolled out of the way from where the Shadow Sangoma had sought to strike him down.Once he was sure he had gotten out from underneath the old man he took advantage of the smoke and switched his sight to his left eye's heat vision to see better in the smoke.

He could see a blob of human form in the smoke and assuming it was the Shadow Sangoma he pulled out a CS gas grenade and threw it with all his might at the man.

Patho circled the old man, looking for a weakness to be exploited as the gas gave the sorcerer more than he could deal with. The opening didn't come though, the mask the Shadow Sangoma wore kept his face and eyes safe form the fumes of the gas and with only the skin irritation to bother him Patho was sure that he would have to keep this fight going until either one of them ran out of tricks to pull.

He took the standoff as a moment to gather his bearings, look around and see how the battle was flowing around him.Owen had managed to get the big guy off of him but now they were dukeing it out and the jaws on the bigger man seemed keen to take a bite out of Owen. The teenager Randall was also having his own little pow-wow with the blue beetle and some of the other hero's who didn't seem all that pleased with him.The Thugs and the Agents continued to fight each other, taking losses on both sides.

CeeCee and DeeDee

With CeeCee constantly having missions to go on, and DeeDee enjoying creating chaos a bit much they rarely stayed somewhere long, neither of them minded but a place you can name when someone asks where you live would be nice to have eventually. For this reason the next mission CeeCee chose to take on was perfect. All missions have their merits and are more than not profitable enough to be worth the time, but this one would give them a chance to have a hometown in a way. All towns, cities, metropolises, and so forth have their problems with the law, many have problems with supervillains and superheroes breaking the town apart in their struggles. But one city in particular always stuck out like a soar thumb when it came to villainy, Gotham, it had enough problems that there were people willing to pay her to try and get some order in the place.

It was a challenge CeeCee happily accepted, and even DeeDee didn't mind going there as the chaos in that city was exactly what she loves to be part off. CeeCee wondered more how the ones on the side off justice in Gotham would react to her, a military type woman with a powersuit to turn her in to a one woman army with enough high class licenses that almost allowed her to do anything in the pursuit off restoring order. One of the only things she really had to look out for was not harming innocent civilians, when it can be avoided she legally still has to avoid harming them, but that was part of her work ethics to begin with any way.

Having accepted the contract CeeCee packed everything she had, which wasn't really much more than the suit she's wearing, materials to repair her weapons or make more of them, and tools for repairs and construction. Besides that she naturally also had her mobile command center. It amused her a bit that she would be taking a, what looks like, a military version off the batmobile to Gotham City, only she called hers the Defender as it has only defensive systems on the outside. Her only real worry off going there was that naturally DeeDee would come with her off course, not like they could go anywhere separate even if they wished only having one body for the both of them. But CeeCee and DeeDee have enough rules amongst each other that such a thing wouldn't be much off an issue. DeeDee would definitely cause problems over there, but in general CeeCee and DeeDee tried to avoid tampering with what the other was doing, it's the reason they both have a no kill rule if it can be avoided.

DeeDee didn't really have to pack, after all, she just takes what she wanted when she wants it and doesn't really care about material things besides the clothing she wears. CeeCee crawled in to her vehicle, the Defender, and planned it to drive itself to Gotham once activated. First however she felt like double checking everything inside the Defender, besides her mobile command center this vehicle is basically hers and DeeDee's home equipped with everything you need to live from faucets to beds. It made the vehicle rather long and wide but it was still capable off driving wherever a truck can drive as well. It was extremely heavy though going over the weight off a tank, mainly because off the adamantium plating, this would normally be enough to break the roads, but the extra tires and some high-tech wheel upgrades it was capable of driving anywhere without braking the ground more than a regular car would.

Having set a course, which would take until next morning to arrive, the Defender began driving itself to Gotham City wile following all the traffic rules to the letter. If it was in outlaw mode it would brake the rules and arrive 4 times as fast but that was only allowed to be used when in pursuit of a high priority target. As the car drove towards Gotham City, CeeCee set herself to one off the internal computers and began digging up information about Gotham, past and current events. It was a slow process, not because she had difficulty taking it all in but because off constant interruptions from DeeDee.

"Damn it CeeCee do something fun all ready, everything with you is work, work, work."
"And what should I do then DeeDee? Be like you and just do whatever, whenever and to hell with the consequences? One of us needs to have an income."
"And why do we need an income CeeCee? If you want something you take it, it's that easy. Survival off the fittest, if they can't stop you from taking it then it's yours."
"Law off the fittest? You do realize that compared to a lot of beings out there we are less than ants right, you might be able to blow up a city but there are beings out there that can blow up a solar system, we're far from the fittest."
"They don't care about us, the villains on that level have bigger plans than someone as small than us and the heroes on that level are to busy with those villains, we're amongst the fittest at our level of power."
"Just shut up DeeDee, I got a lot of work to do as it is and I can't handle you right now, just go to sleep."
"Fine, just don't hog the body to long, I need to have some fun before the day is over."
"You know you'll get it soon enough, neither off us has ever hogged the body for longer than we agreed upon, with the exception if the current user is stuck in some extreme circumstances."

If anyone would have seen this conversation right now, they would simply have seen CeeCee talking to herself, she has often been seen as if having a split personality because of it. Another downside off having two minds sharing one body. In any case now that DeeDee went to sleep and vanished in to the subconscious off CeeCee, CeeCee could finally focus on her tasks at hand. Besides reading up on events she also decided to try and hack any high level computer networks located in Gotham. CeeCee was a decent hacker, but the targets she was trying to hack were targets she knew she could not hack, this was because she had no intention in actually hacking these networks. Knowing that several off these networks were most likely controlled by either criminal syndicates or heroes/vigilantes, she knew that failed attempts off hacking would draw their attention. So in these failed attempts she'd leave a digital fingerprint behind that when found would let the finder know who she was, and information about who she was was easily found. The only thing not easily found was the fact CeeCee and DeeDee were the same person, so people who would find her fingerprint would only realize it was CeeCee and should have no idea this meant DeeDee was coming to.

CeeCee's hope was that it would get some criminals to try and stop her which would make them easier to find, or to have the self-appointed protectors off the city reach out to her and possible create some sort off alliance with them before she'd even reach Gotham.

CeeCee and DeeDee

The day and night had passed, CeeCee had gone to being DeeDee and back to CeeCee again in this time. Upon arrival at the city limits it seemed someone was already expecting her arrival. Seems her hacking did the job it was supposed to. Opening the top hatch off her vehicle CeeCee climbed out and jumped down on the street wearing her power suit. CeeCee looked over the individual, seemingly one off the masked good guys, DeeDee was awake at this time but as the sisters agreed, during official business they would in general leave the one in charge alone.

"Greetings ma'am, I'm assuming you own one off the systems I failed to hack, I'm glad to see my hacking paid off. I'm mercenary CeeCee, codename C&D. I've been hired by your government to help restore order to this place ma'am under the rules off the following contract." At this time CeeCee held her left arm in front off her and opened a small computer integrated on her suit here that showed the contract she was given stating the mission parameters and what she was allowed to do and use. The main things written down in it were the mission objectives to attempt to restore order to Gotham wile avoiding civilian casualties if possible, the allowance to carry weaponry and use deadly force, and a statement saying that she is absolved from any crimes she commits in order to carry out these objectives. "Assuming you are one of the, as they say, good guys, an alliance could have a positive impact on my abilities to bring my mission to a success ma'am."

Everything she did, the way she moved, the way she talked, the way she looked, it all screamed military.

"I'm not intruding, am I?" he asked.

CeeCee and DeeDee

"Not at all" replied CeeCee as she was waiting a moment for her suit to do a scan on this new person to see if she could find out who this is, once she had a positive match about 2 seconds later she continued her sentence "Vision X. If you wish to know my mission here in Gotham I was just explaining it any way. I still have the contract open. But as it seems unlikely that you were one off my hacking targets, considering you're not usually located in Gotham, as far as my suit can tell me, I am however incapable off determining any possible mission parameters you may have that would bring you here, besides fighting crime I suppose. Would you mind me inquiring in to what those parameters are?"

CeeCee's body language and actual spoken language was even more formal and military than when she was only addressing Batgirl. This was because what she now knew off Vision X thanks to her suit she was aware that this man was several ranks above her in terms off power.

Also I have no issue with accepting you as a superior in this mission for the time being. If you have more than one head you end up fighting, better to have a clear line off command."

CeeCee banged her vehicle twice on the side and it's engines began to activate as it drove off towards Gotham City "Defender, my vehicle, will do reconnaissance in the city, it will send out reports of street by street and sent it to the following frequency." CeeCee showed her computer screen again, which was now showing all the info of where the reports off her vehicle were being sent. Afterwards she turned specifically to Vision X "If my data is correct you are superior to me in every way, so I suggest you either go ahead without me and I'll catch up as fast as I can or if you have a way off transporting me with you that would be a great alternative as well."

CeeCee was ready to start the mission, she only had some final words to say "Thank you for the comlink but my suit has one built in, it all ready linked itself to your comlinks frequency. I have a clear understanding off the mission parameters so all that's left is locate the enemy and see who can crack the most skulls."

Asterdan wrote:*snip*"So, CeeCee," he began, "Where do you wish to start first?"

CeeCee and DeeDee

"Where Batgirl suggested we begin seems like the best spot, the old warehouse. If that's their original base off operations then we should find at the least a hint where to go next there. By the way thank you for the lift." CeeCee first had no intentions off saying anything more at first as more did not need to be said. But she quickly changed her mind, she had to be open about one thing before she could work together with Vision X.

"I wasn't sure if I should mention this but, I know you're one off the good guys but, AI's, I have trust issues with them. Almost always built with the intention to save the world and half the time they end up trying to blow it up. I suppose that could be said about many superheroes as well or military people like myself but usually I got the feeling if I'm careful I can read somewhat in to their intentions and act accordingly. To put it bluntly you're a machine and I can't read machines so I don't trust them if no one's behind the controls."

CeeCee looked away a bit somewhat ashamed about what she just said considering what she had learned about Vision X simply through social media had told her that this being is a good guy on every level. And CeeCee was ashamed she couldn't help distrust him as much as the villains she was paid to hunt simply because he was built and not born.

CeeCee and DeeDee

As Vision X had phased through the floor CeeCee began her search for anything on the base level. The things she found were mainly spots of dried up blood, scratches and other kinds off damage done to the floors, walls and everything else. Basically a lot of proof fights happened here, but that was nothing new so it didn't really help much at first. They made clean house off this floor it seemed, but Vision X probably would have a better chance of finding things as hidden areas probably don't stay hidden long for him.

CeeCee put her suit to scan everything near her and walked by slowly when DeeDee started talking. "Finally alone again, so annoying to just sit there and watch you be miss military."
CeeCee let out a small grunt before replying "Just like it's frustrating for me to watch you play miss psychopath, just let me focus on my job, ok?"
"But your job is so damn boring and you're so caught up in the job you didn't even realize how hot that Batgirl was, we should ask her out next time."
"Not the time, not the place DeeDee, besides, not wile I'm working on a mission."
DeeDee sighed "You're always on a mission, do you realize you haven't been on a date since you started wearing that suit."
"Some off us are trying to fix the world DeeDee, that's something you have to dedicate all the time you have to if you want to even notice you're having any effect at all."
"Whatever, when it's my turn to be in control I'll show you how to loosen up a bit, see if I can't find that Batgirl."
"You know the deal we have DeeDee, you can't just ..."
DeeDee cut CeeCee off mid sentence here "Oh don't worry, I'm not going to interfere with your precious work, as we agreed, not even going to let on we have a connection, I'm just going to find her and flirt with her."
CeeCee let out an aggravated grunt "You're impossible to reason with you know that? Do whatever you want when it's your turn, but for now let me focus on my job as it isn't progressing one bit as is."

Asterdan wrote:It wasn't long before Vision X had found what they were looking for. Under the warehouse was what appeared to be a large, abandoned council room, owl paraphernalia everywhere. Vision X looked up, sending blasts of energy from his eyes to create a hole for CeeCee to enter. He figured the blasts would continue on through the roof of the warehouse, but knew there was nothing he could do about that.

CeeCee jumped back a bit when she saw a beam tear through the floor and roof. She took her guns out and slammed a button on her right leg causing a small compartment to open and light up. CeeCee jumped down the hole using the rocket boosters to slow her fall and once she arrived she took a combat position holding her guns ready in case she needed them. When she noticed only Vision X being here with what looked like items that were owned by the Owl. CeeCee stood fully upright, put her guns away and moved her finger over her leg causing a pattern to light up and the compartment that had opened closed again.

"For someone programmed with brilliant minds the idea never came up that you could've contacted me you we're going to blow a hole in the building before doing it? I was expecting enemy resistance. In any case, seems like Batgirl was right to send us here."

Asterdan wrote:"I apologize, but time is of the essence." Vision X said simply.

It was then that he heard the footsteps. He raised his hand, gesturing for CeeCee to remain quiet for a moment. Vision X cocked his head, using sensory components to triangulate the sound, in an attempt to find the source. It sounded heavy, as though a large creature was approaching. The claws reemerged from Vision X's hands.

"Something it coming." he said simply.

CeeCee and DeeDee

CeeCee took a combat position again in a part off the room where she had eyes on all the possible entrances. Her right arm went down to her leg and grabbed concussion grenade which she activated so if the enemy was clearly hostile the grenade could instantly be thrown. Her gauntlet on her left arm activated an energy blade in case the grenade was not an option or not needed.

Asterdan wrote:A Talon appeared out of the shadows, apparently unaware that there had been intruders. Vision X could tell by the body language that it had been caught off guard. The warrior of the Court of Owls jumped into action, delivering a kick to the head of VX, who had underestimated the creature. It had been strong enough to send Vision X to his knee as he readjusted his density.

CeeCee and DeeDee

CeeCee was surprised to see Vision X get hit hard enough to get forced down on the ground, but her trained reflexes didn't let that slow her down even for a split second. CeeCee threw her concussive grenade which she had ready for the assailant. Unlike regular concussion grenades which attempt to knock out their target with an explosion, CeeCee's concussion grenades were high tech delivery systems of flashing lights and high pitched sounds. These flashing lights were designed to overload the visual cortex of the human brain and the high pitched sound that target the balance system, throwing it out of whack causing targets under it's affect to experience a sensory overload causing them to lose consciousness.

CeeCee assumed that Vision X, being a machine, would be immune to this effect and CeeCee's suit was protecting her with ear plugs and contact lenses designed specifically to protect her against her own grenades. The concussion grenades flew towards the enemy and stopped moving halfway in the air, at this point it's glowing blue light turned red as it activated both it's sound and strobe lights. The talon seemed to have a higher tolerance than most as he didn't instantly collapsed but a few seconds seemed enough to cause him to black out.

As the Talon was on the ground CeeCee grabbed her concussion grenade and turned it off, directly after she grabbed the now unconscious talon and held his arms behind him in a lock. But considering this talon had the strength to hit Vision X to his knees she wasn't taking any chances and magnetized the arms off her suit to cling to each other, the Talon could struggle as much as he wanted not even CeeCee could force her arms to undo the lock as long as they were magnetically hinged together.

"My grenade's effect should be reaching it's end, he should awaken soon. By the way, I can't believe you got kicked to your knees by this guy, I thought you had enough power to be a God compared to me. Either I overestimated you or I'm underestimating this guy, if it's the second then I hope my magnetic lock will be able to hold him."

He returned his gaze to the Talon, in order to erase suspicion, as he began his search. He even had Victor searching for anything he could find on the girl, but almost every detail was classified.

It looks like you have to do this the Human way. Victor said to Vision X mentally.
I suppose you are right. Vision X replied, But how? I have no experience in this sort of thing! I've only been active for a few days.
Just start talking.

Vision X looked back up at CeeCee, hoping he could get some sort of dialogue started.

"So, Agent CeeCee," Vision X began, "How did you get the mission in Gotham?"

You're going with that? Victor asked in the robotic head, He's going with that...

CeeCee and DeeDee

CeeCee looked up to Vision X as he asked her how she ended up in Gotham "Military contract. I tend to get positive results." CeeCee didn't say anything more, not because she was withholding anything but she was a very straight forward person, a question is asked, so a direct answer is given. "Doesn't look like this Talon is awakening any time soon, usually my concussion grenades only knock them out for a few seconds, a couple of minutes tops. But this guy, I don't know maybe he was extra sensitive to lights or sounds. I'll let Batgirl know we caught an enemy, this is her town she'll know what to do."

CeeCee activated the com system in her suit, connecting her to Batgirl's comlink. "Batgirl, this is CeeCee, I and Vision have captured an enemy target, he is incapacitated now but showed great strength earlier as he had the strength to harm Vision X, even if only minor. This is your city and I bet you know these enemies better than anyone else, awaiting instructions, CeeCee out."

CeeCee and DeeDee

"Understood, will drop off the target and will afterwards provide back-up at Arkham." CeeCee released her magnetic lock and then reached for her left leg and took out a needle out off a medical kit she was wearing which she then stuck in the Talon she was holding. She then looked at Vision X "Sleeping drug, he won't wake up for the next hour with this in his system. It seems best we head to GCPD like we headed here. You fly there with me and this guy in tow behind you. I told Batgirl we'd assist her afterwards at Arkham assylum. The Crimelord slum war is probably bad but I believe we're better suited for fighting enhanced humans like those we'll find at Arkham. Also you come over more human than I'd expect, I'm going to chose to treat you like one."
