After a while of being within the JQ, Marybeth was becoming quite accustomed to life here. Having only taken on a few gigs, she wasn't really known besides being a member of the JQ, which suited her just fine for now. As long as no one finds out about the past ten years, of course. She sat in her room, music blaring quite loudly, destressing. I wonder what everyone else has been up to recently. Having seen much of them, perhaps hermit life isn't for me. Yawning, she turned off the music and went upstairs. She paused by a room, just outside of it, she wasn't sure which, and heard two voices. Cora and Jamie. Extending the sounds within her area, she listened. Something about Cora, and helping. Sweet, something to do. Peeking in, she called out. "Hey, anything I can help with?" They don't need to know I was eavesdropping.

They don't need to know I was eavesdropping.

Cora seemed to freeze when she heard a voice behind them, afraid it was Kylie or even worse Katie. She breathed a sigh of relief when she realized it was Marybeth. Cora then wondered what she should do. Having Marybeth along with them could help, but she didn't want to endanger anymore people than she needed to. Still, they were teammates so Cora decided she needed to trust her teammate and at least tell her the truth. "Well, come in close the door." Cora said, making sure that only Marybeth could hear them now. "I was asking Jamie to help me on a... personal mission. There are some very bad people, kidnapping children and well... they're turning them into cyborgs like me. I can't allow this to go on, so I asked Jamie to help me. I understand if you don't want to get involved Marybeth, there's a reason why I won't ask the team as a whole, I know that this is a controversial move and I don't want to drag you into it but I would be honored it you would join us." Cora told her team sincerely.

After pondering it for about a second, realizing she was incredibly bored at the moment, Marybeth agreed offhandedly. "Sure, why not", she said. Then...something struck her as what Cora had said began to sink in. Kids...kidnap...turning them...that's all that truly processed within her. Feeling a familiar yet rare rage creep inside her, Marybeth nodded sternly. "I'll definitely do it. Just don't stop me from doing what has to be done." Flashbacks, uncontrolled yet hidden flashed through her mind rapidly of the experiments done upon her when she was in HYDRA's possession. She raised her hand to her forehead. "As soon as possible please."

Jamie awaited some sort of response from Cora, but before one was given, a voice spoke from outside, causing her to flinch, though she soon recognized it as belonging to Marybeth, the girl that was recruited the same day as her. Not knowing what to say, she simply stared at Cora for a moment, but the cyborg seemed to make up her mind fairly quickly and told the blonde girl outside to come in and close the door. The hooded girl was fairly annoyed that it seemed like others could freely invite people into her room, but she shook her head lightly at the thought, knowing that this was an important thing and that it wasn't the time to be petty like that. Sitting down on the bed some more, she simply watched and listened as Cora explained the situation to Marybeth, wondering when exactly they were going to head out.

She was very surprised to see Marybeth's reaction to the request, though. At first, she had acted rather nonchalant, as expected, but then, she had suddenly become serious and determined. The black-haired girl frowned, concerned about her fellow teammate, nodding at Cora as she suggested to meet in half an hour and watching her walk away before turning her attention back to Marybeth.

"Hey... you alright?" She asked. "I don't really need to prepare, so I'll be here if you need something. Like... I've probably got an aspirin somewhere. So just ask, okay?" She offered, before heading back to her seat and picking up her controller.

Half an hour later, she showed up in the garage, wearing her shades and a red hoodie instead of her favorite purple one. She had a few replacements, but it wasn't a good idea to have them all damaged by taking them on a mission when she could help it. "Hey, Cor- I mean, Infinity." The girl said as she walked up to the redhead, barely reminding herself to greet her by her superhero name. "Ready?"

.

"I'll be fine, is nothing I can't handle", said Marybeth dismissively. " I'm going to get ready. I'll meet up with you later. " Marybeth went to her room, locked the door, and sat down. Her head was spinning, swirling in an endless medley of rage and cold, merciless fury. "Don't get in my way girls", she whispered to herself. "They save the kids, I'll trade down that place so much no one will remember it even existed." With clamped teeth, she prepared, grabbing all sorts of knives and going over hundreds of scenarios in her head, each one with more destruction than the last. "Control yourself Marybeth, if you don't pull yourself together they won't let you go." When the time was right, Marybeth put on a mask of apathy as usual and walked down to the garage, armed to the teeth in various knives. Cyborgs huh? Right up my alley. Seeing Cora and Jamie, or at least she assumed Jamie... Marybeth raised her hand in a greeting. "I'm the last one here huh? Alright then, shall we take my car?"

Cora
Cora heard Marybeth's question. "Well, the prison that the victims are disappearing from is about two hours away by car, but maybe that will be less conspicuous than the jet. The longer it takes the others to realize we're gone the better." She told the others, heading with Marybeth and Jamie to the car. Cora had never driven before and now was obviously not the time to learn so Marybeth drove the car instead. Cora was silent for a while as they drove, clearly worried and anxious about what they were going to do, and the consequences of her decision. She was mostly worried about Katie, what if she was so mad that they broke up over this? That was the last thing the cyborg wanted, but Cora had to do this. She felt like she didn't have any other choice, she couldn't sit by and doing anything. She decided to talk to try to take her mind off of it.

"So, how have you two enjoyed the Justice Queens so far? I was honestly surprised when more people wanted to join our team, but I'm glad you two did." Cora said sincerely. She had been working on making friends since she joined the team, and she felt like she was making progress.

"It's better than my last place, that's for sure", said Marybeth, giddy behind the wheel. Hardly ever bothering to go the speed limit (though not going fast enough to be pulled over) she generally kept her car at a nice, fast paced cruising speed. Sure, she could probably get there quicker without a car, but it simply wasn't as fun. "So, when did you join up?"

"Well, I joined when it started I guess." Cora said in response to Marybeth's question. "After I arrived in New York City. I... well I was down a bad path. I started threatening people into liking me. Katie was a local hero at the time and she came to stop me. Well, we ended up talking instead and Katie was really nice. She took me to her apartment, and Valancy happened to be living next door. Kylie came by too, she was friends with Katie. The odd thing was, none of them knew that the others had powers. I guess they were just nervous or not willing to tell each other. Anyway, we got along well, and I was starting to realize what it might be like to have friends. Then the city was attacked, by someone who was trying to kill me. The other stood up for me, and stopped him from hurting me or other people. Naja even showed up to help, even though we didn't really know her at the time. Then we all kind of just decided we wanted to keep working together and help people. Then the Justice Queens were born. Ya... That's pretty much it."

[.

"Ah, I see", said Marybeth, pondering that. " You know, you and I aren't all that different... " she said quietly, almost to herself. "Except it is quite unlikely that anyone would ever come after me to kill me. I'm quite positive my issues are dealt with permanently." Except those in my head, apparently, she thought, remembering the flashback and loud of composure when she initially learned of Cora's plan. "You know what? I think I might have a slight plan when we get there. You know where the kids are, right? Focus on them. I'll go in first, create a distraction. Cyborgs won't be a problem for me, not if they aren't completely invulnerable to vibration. Just... Get the kids and get out. Alright?"

Cora heard Jamie's question about her knowing someone in prison and couldn't help but smile slightly. "Well, they're not in prison exactly. He's a guard there. He used to work for the government but he's retired, that's how I know him." Cora told her teammates and soon after they finally arrived a the prison. Cora showed her clearance badge at the gate before the security guards let them inside. It was a large gated facility, with nothing but open field visible for miles beyond the service road. They made it to the lobby of the prison and Cora realized they'd have to pass a metal detector. "Um, we should try to find another way to the holding facility. I'd rather not have to explain why I set the metal detector off." Cora whispered to Jamie and Marybeth, clearly a little embarrassed that she hadn't considered that detail.

Marybet considered for a moment, eyeing the area as well as thinking about the knives in her pockets and elsewhere. "I'm not really sure..." she replied. "If you could hold some things for me, i suppose I could find him easily enough...maybe. What's his name? " She heightened her hearing, listening throughout the prison, finding conversations. Using this, she found what could be both the visitors area as well as the mess hall. "If we are feeling risky... We could go through the prisoners yard."

Sam rushed over to the others as well, helping Roy who was struggling to his feet. He was clearly hurt but was trying not to show it. Meanwhile John struggled valiantly, if futilely against the Wizard's grip. "Sarah! don't listen to this bastard! He's trying to get in your head!" He called to his girlfriend from above. He tried to say more but the wizard cut him off.

"Well I'd love to stay and chat, but John and I have places to be. If you want your beloved toy back Sarah, I suggest you start working harder for it. Don't take too long though, I may get bored of him and throw him away! And don't worry about finding me, I'll make it very easy for you when the time comes!"

And with that John and the Wizard both disappeared in a flash of light, leaving only Roy and the Grimm sisters, to lick their wounds and figure out what had just happened and how they could possibly fix it.

Cora
Cora nodded at Marybeth's suggestion. "Alright, that works Marybeth. Just... don't hurt him alright? His name is Andrew Hadson. He's a tall African American man, in his late forties. He has thinning brown hair, and a small scar on his hand. If you ask around for him, you should be able to find him. Just tell him that Infinity is here and wants to talk to him."

Marybeth agreed, then, after giving her rather large assortment of knives to Cora, set off. "Alright...Andrew Hadson, Andrew Hadson..." However, she found rather quickly that looking for a prison guard was quite difficult when the farthest you could go was the visitor area. The hardest part about it, waiting in a freaking line. She talked her foot impatiently, waiting for her turn. She finally arrived to the front, asked her question, and was searched, as customs were here. This knowledge did not stop Marybeth from having to grit her teeth so as to not punch the guard doing the searching however. Finally, said guard spoke up.

"Alright, I'm Andrew Hadson. What did you need?" Marybeth, just to make sure, had him repeat it and listened to his heart beat, can't go having an imposter.

"Alright, good. Co-... I mean, Infinity is outside waiting for you. She come in here herself, but..."

"Alright, understood. Lead the way... Er..." Marybeth realized she had never chosen an alias. Thinking for a moment, she decided to put it off until later.

"Marybeth. Marybeth DeFleur." She said with a smile. "She's right outside, shall we go note?" She stated, looking around uneasily. Prisons weren't good on her, you see.

"Alright, I just have to tell my supervisor." After that was done, they finally arrived outside, to where Cora and Jamie were waiting.

"So... We gonna do this thing?" Asked Marybeth.

Marybeth took the device gingerly, and not so gingerly jumped into the car (who users doors anyway?). One problem she did have for a few seconds, however, was finding a place to put the tracking device's radar. You see, she wasn't the most tech savvy person ever, not the most organizer, so finding a place where she could see it without crashing or breaking it was quite difficult. Upon finding it, she started the car, screeching off after the van.

"Alright, so I need to stay close enough so that they don't get too start anything with the kids, but far enough not to be spotted..." She said to herself, muffling the sound of her car. "If anyone notices it stopping, let me know. I'm going to try and stay about... A mile or two away. Also... If someone could find cafés out the like nearby is stopping point, let me know. If rather not put my car in the way of collateral damage, so someplace close enough to run out fly or whatever would be best. Obviously, we'd do that after we see it stop..."

Cora hopped into the front seat of the car and nodded to Marybeth as she talked about trailing the car. After about 45 minutes the tracker showed that the truck had stopped nearly 2 miles in front of them and Cora had Marybeth park the car at a nearby diner. Once she did that she turned to her teammates, "Well, how should we go forward from here? I can fly there, but I won't be able to carry you two without being seen. Jamie, can you make a plane or a car or something? Preferably something stealthy..."

R."

Marybeth locked her car, double-checking that she had all of her knives, which took a small amount of time, she began mentally preparing herself for what may lay ahead. " I can move rather quickly. On top of that, if I'm to be the distraction..." She failed of, cracking her back and neck. "Week, I should go first you know. Don't act until a majority of guards are gone. Don't ask questions. And, most importantly..." She stated down both of them, a dire, stern look coming from her eyes. "Don't come after me. I'll be fine, and, quite frankly, I would rather not put either of you in danger. If all goes like I'm guessing it will... The whole place will be going down approximately ten minutes from after I get there. I would recommend being out in 5." And that's assuming I can control myself that long. She swallowed a bitter fury, cold, murderous, and calculated. What these people were doing... Only one punishment was enough in her eyes, and she'd be dammed if anyone were to try and stop her.

"It's cool that you want to act as a distraction and all, I'm sure it'll be very helpful, but our priority is to get out the kids remember? That's what our mission is all about." The hooded girl stated. "We're superheroines, not terrorists. Blowing up the whole place is just going to get people killed, maybe even let the government pin the blame on supers or something. God knows they're being all paranoid about people like us nowadays." She concluded. Despite being more or less disconnected from the outside world she did learn a lot about recent happenings, mostly through gossiping through online play and other such methods.

"Just don't lose your cool, okay? We're in this together, and I know I wouldn't give you a time limit before I collapsed a roof on your head." "Screw the government" Marybeth said. "And I can fly, but I prefer running. Especially if I'm bring someone along with me, it would slow us down." She paused, quite annoyed that Jamie would try and stop her. "And the place needs to be destroyed. The governemnt has to know about it, they just won't DO anything. Did that van not come from a PRISON?" Narrowing her eyes, she did have to admit Jamie was right in one regard. "But yeah, nevermind the time limit. Get those kids out, but that place IS coming down, one way or another."

Cora frowned at Marybeth's words, killing the people inside was not part of the plan. Cora wasn't sure she could trust Marybeth to go in alone anymore. "You know, I think you should stay with us Marybeth. We'll subdue the guards first and then rescue the kids before destroying the equipment. We're not killing anyone though, alright? And Jamie is right, we make sure everyone gets together. We're not destroying the place until we're sure everyone is out." Cora told her teammate firmly, not willing to budge on this.

Cora then turned to Jamie, thinking it would be awkward to carry her across the air, "You should fly on your own, and Marybeth you can follow alone with us as well. The element of surprise shouldn't be necessary as we'll be able to overpower them. But remember what I said, no killing." Cora said, looking specifically at Marybeth for the last part.

"Right, I get that", said Marybeth off-handedly. She wasn't going to push it, even if these psychos were just likely to escape later. "So can we go? We get the kids, destroy the place, get out. Pretty simple." One thing was bothering her however, and it wasn't the van coming from the prison or even the plan itself. "Cora, out of curiousity, how likely is it that we WILL run into other cyborgs...like yourself. If that DOES happen, I'm not exactly sure how to fight them. If my powers work on them, it may accidentally kill them, especially if they have wiring in their heads and all that. And furthermore..." She paused, trying to figure out how to word the next question. "Will me doing anything hurt YOU."

Cora continued to push her way through the front of the compound. She grabbed all the guns she could and continued to knock out the guards as Marybeth and Jamie did the same behind her. She then soon led them inside the facility. It was a scary moment for Cora, because though this one was not underground, it reminded her of the facility she had spent most of her early life in. She pushed those thoughts from he head though and turned to Marybeth and Jamie.

"Follow me, the holding cells should be nearby." Cora said, heading towards a large room with several floors and long pathways. Both sides of every floor were lined with cells, each containing a young teen prisoner. Cora guessed there had to be at least a hundred of them.

Marybeth smirked, a smile that could only be described as diabolical. Finally, something I can take my frustrations out on... she thought. But...not too much... "Jamie? One of the cyborgs moved, catching her hand. Oh great, they are fast she thought, as the first sonic boom, the one from the snap, arrived. As that ones grip loosened, Marybeth jumped back and took out her knives. Then, almost as if rehearsed, the second one came. Marybeth amplified the attack to huge decimals, shaking the ground with the sound. She moved now, faster than before, at the now incapacitated Cyborg that was her initial target, slicing at both shoulders near the tendons whilst ramming forawrd. The cyborg collapsed, unable to save itself from falling as it hit the ground. Still conscious, it would have quite the time getting up without any workable arms. Seeing it's partner fall, the other cyborg stared at Marybeth in rage. Marybeth mirrored the look. "Well? What's the matter robocop, circuits fried?" It struck out quickly with a laser like weapon, but Marybeth anticipated this. Jumping and hovering momentarily, Marybeth placed herself behind the other cyborg. "C'mon nuts for brains, you may be part human, but you suck at this. Give me your all."

While Cora and Jamie were fighting their Cyborgs, Marybeth was recovering from a surprise attack by her grounded opponent... Much to her dismay. "You sneaky bastard..." She said, rising and dodging more Ki blasts from both. Great... Now I'm on the defensive. She thought, weaving and avoiding. Multiple explains SPOM the trees behind her, giving her quite an idea. "Oh....ha, so who wants to give up first?" She called out. The Cyborgs looked at her, unloaded and quite unamused. "Didn't think so. Well...I surely hope you have insurance. You may need replacement parts... And a hospital." She brought both of her knives together, avoiding Punches, kicks, and blasts. Then, she slid them together, releasing a horrid, massively amplified shreek.

The effect was instance. The ground began to tenor, the trees began to shake. The one cyborg that could still stand feel to their knees, clutching her ears. "What's the matter?" Asked Marybeth, forcing her voice to cut through the noise. "You two don't look too good. What, you can handle the explosions, but not some scraping metal?" Of course, this was definitely not a normal, natural sound. The vibrations and pitch were intensified exponentially, the building walls behind them shivering with weakness.

When she ended the chorus of knives, the kneeling cyborg feel unconscious. The other seemed quite disoriented, is eyes slightly crossed. It had risen, but did unbalanced. Marybeth walked towards it as it feel again, still conscious but weak. "Heightened senses aren't so good, are they?" She asked the female Android tauntingly. "Methinks you choose the wrong fight. Note, instead of taking you to death, I believe I may be needed elsewhere." She listened for the sound of the children, hearing Cora and Jamie fighting within. "I might as well help the tykes. Just to be sure you don't think of doing anything funny... I must bid you goodnight." She clapped her hands against the Cyborgs ears, making the pop knock it out. Then, quite calmly, she went to where the kids were, hiding in the shadows to be sure she could help them if needed, but not where they would see her. She couldn't bring herself to show herself to these kids. They had been through enough and, for a moment, Marybeth almost lost it. Two helpless victims, all she had to do was finish them off. It was what she was made for, and she almost did it. However, thinking back to Cora and Jamie, she stopped herself Midway. No one needs to know. You kept yourself together. That's all that matters.

Weaving her way through the burning wreckage that had become of the android building facility, Jamie hurried to the outside, dodging explosions here and there, wincing when the occasional piece of shrapnel shot towards her, though it thankfully caused very little damage thanks to her Archetype's natural strength. Eventually, she reached the exit, which is to say she arrived at the large hole that Cora had blasted on one of the facility's walls to facilitate the escape of the captives held there. Stepping through, she headed to the forest, not knowing where Cora had led the children but assuming that the large forest behind the facility was a fairly intuitive choice, based on her previous experience, much of which involved sloppily thrown-together videogame plots. Regardless, as she used her magic to zip across the woods, she was swiftly able to find the clearing where most of the children were. Coming to a halt next to the redhead, Jamie took a moment to catch her breath.

"Found you!" She cheered, before digging into her jacket, pulling out a flask with a red liquid and drinking its contents in one go. What bruises and cuts she had sustained were swiftly healed after she drunk the potion, and though a large part of her purple jacket and her red shirt had been burned away by the ki blast that hit her, she was not injured by it. The burned away parts didn't expose anything important either, thankfully, or she would be utterly embarrassed, if she had even bothered to go to the forest in the first place.

After healing up, the black-haired girl looked at the teenagers that were freed during the battle. "Hello there. Don't worry, we're gonna get you all to a better place. Is anyone hurt?" She asked kindly, preparing to heal any of the captives if they needed it.

Marybeth, seeing both of them join the congregation of the teens, floated down from a tree. Using her sonic abilities, she agitated the air to slow her descent massively, allowing her to glide at a small pace. "Alright, so....what do we do with the cybogs on the other side?" She asked, gesturing to where she came from, ignoring the teens completely. "Also...I'm not sure about you...but there seemed to be a lot less scientists than expected." She sighed, looking around. "I guess the authorities will figure that one out, right?" She inquired. She figured that's how Cora and Jamie would follow it up, regardless of how wrong she thought it was to trust anyone else to do it.

Zarkenis Ultima wrote:Jamie frowned slightly when a boy slightly younger than her approached her with a bleeding girl. Despite what she said, she had been hoping that nobody would have to step forward, both because she hoped nobody had been hurt during the attack on the facility, and because, ignoring the fact that these children were the people they had come to rescue, they were all strangers and she felt slightly uncomfortable around them, the heroism she'd displayed during the battle wearing off. The fact that the boy told her that the girl was injured during the explosion didn't help matters, as the explosion had been caused by Jamie, from which she could easily infer that this was all her fault. Casting her gaze down, she began rummaging through her jacket's inner pockets once again.

"U-um... S-sure thing, just give me moment..." She said a bit awkwardly as she finally managed to pull yet another red flask. Approaching the girl, the heroine warily poured the liquid into the girl's mouth. "I-it might not taste great, b-but it's for your good..." She mumbled as the girl drank the red fluid, the gaping wound in her stomach magically patching itself up as a result. A part of her mind mused with disgust about how similar she sounded to a dentist or a doctor, but she ignored that part and simply discarded the now empty flask before stepping back, nodding at the boy and the girl before walking up to Cora.

"Can we go now?" She asked quietly.

"Thank you" The boy said, clearly relieved as the girl's wound began to recede and the bleeding stopped. The girl herself nodded weakly, speaking very slowly, clearly exhausted and nearly asleep. "Th...ank you"

Cora heard Jamie's question, and nodded, they needed to get out of there and fast. Before she could reply however, the whiring of helicopters could be heard above them, as well as the blaring sirens of police cars. Soon the heroes were surrounded. From above two helicopters circled them, machine guns aimed down towards the heroes. On the ground, four police cars surrounded the group, officers using the vehicles as cover as they aimed their weapons at the Justice Queens, one of them speaking out through a megaphone. "Freeze! You are under arrest! Put your hands in the air!" He shouted at them.

Cora sighed, this was exactly what she had been trying to avoid. They had to save the girl though, they couldn't have just left her to die. Still, how the hell were they going to explain their way out of this one, and what would their teammates think? What would Katie think?

They could easily resist, but Cora didn't want that. If they fought now, they'd be just as bad as the people they try to stop. She turned to the Jamie and Marybeth. "Stand down, don't fight." She told them as she raised her hands above her head in surrender.

Rolling her eyes, Marybeth thought about protesting, even if only half-heartedly. In the end, however, she complied....in a way. She put her hand behind her head as if relaxing, looking around. Were they planning on arresting all of these kids? Or perhaps...they are working for the scientists. The van DID come from a prison after all. If they try to shoot me, I swear, I'll knock them out in 10 seconds flat. And I won't be pretty about it. She whispered to her teammates, keeping anyone else from hearing with her abilities and spoke through the corner of her mouth. "Let me guess, fingerprinting, checking DNA, looking up our track records if we have them, and interrogation? Seems like a good way to end a day."

Cora merely gave a grim smile as Marybeth's words, noticing that Jamie somehow managed to escape arrest, as she was not being forced into the police car along with her and Marybeth. This made Cora feel a little better at least. She had brought Jamie into this, and didn't feel like the mutant should be punished for it. Cora was silent as they were driven to the police station, ignoring the questions of the officers in the front of the car. After a little while of a drive the car stopped outside a local police station. It was a small place, much different than the NYPD buildings. They were then led inside the building, small crowds were gathered around staring at them.

Cora ignored the staring the best she could, but it made her feel like a freak. She was glad once they were finally inside and a police officer approached them. "Alright, we're going to need your names, fingerprint scan, and mug shots. But first, we'd like to talk to you about what exactly went on over there." The officer said. Cora merely shrugged, "Fine, if you want to talk then we can, I don't regret what we did and won't hide from it."

When the officers brought Marybeth into the car, shackles and all, she couldn't help but sigh. The ride in the back was long and stifling. Apparently air conditioning want a thing for these people. The kicker for Marybeth, however, was at the police station when they started taking her knives.

"Hey, no, don't touch those. Watch it, that's sharp. Oh you are a smart one, aren't you", she said, criticizing their every move. One guard almost cut themselves, which usually would've made Marybeth laugh quite loudly if it wasn't for the fact that it was HER knife the idiot was touching. Then came the fun part.

"Alright, we're going to need your names, fingerprint scan, and mug shots. But first, we'd like to talk to you about what exactly went on over there." Marybeth almost screamed. These police.... We're idiots. She stopped herself from talking as Cora began, as she felt like it wouldn't go over very well if she said "Will officer, it seems like someone set off a bomb with a bunch of kids around. You should look into that. " After Cora got done, Marybeth rolled her eyes. She's too honest. One of the officers seemed to find that suspicious, and asked Marybeth to accompany her to another room... Alone.

" Alright, I'm going to ask you the same questions while doing the basics." The female officer began. Marybeth could no longer hold in her laughter. "And what is humorous about this situation?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing. You should probably fingerprint me." Started Marybeth, holding out her hands. "I'm sure you'll find it incredibly helpful in your investigation. But please, detain the people who saved the kids, that will work WONDERS." The officer frowned, taking fingerprints. When she was finished, she looked at the prints. Then she looked at Marybeth, glaring. "Oh, I'm sorry, is there a problem?"

Still in the interrogation room, Marybeth smirked as her interviewer takes her fingers impatiently. Of course, is understandable that she was impatient, as Marybeth fit the bill when it came to obstruction of justice... And did not seem to care even a little about the threat of prison time.

"Alright, let's start again..." Began the officer, trying to keep her cool. "What I'd your name?"

"I already told you, my name is Marybeth DeFleur."

"Alright..." The interviewer wrote the name down for the umpteenth time, rubbing her temples. "Note, as you've been informed, we can find no record of a Marybeth DeFleur... Anywhere near here. Furthermore, your lack of prints is disturbing, and you were found at the center of a terrorist atta-"

"No I wasn't", said Marybeth, suppressing a laugh. " You people put the terror label on everything, don't you. Prove that whoever did the act meant it to instill fear. "

The other officer rolled her eyes. "Alright, an attack of unknown reasons. What were you doing there?"

"Watching."

"You were... Watching?" The interviewer asked, growing more annoyed as time went on.

"Yes, I was watching. Unless... You can prove I was doing otherwise..." Marybeth raised am eyebrow, clearly routing with her.

"And you were watching because..."

"There were children outside." Marybeth finished.

"You know... Your partner already gave you up."

Marybeth made a mock-shocked face. "Partner? Why, I don't even know the woman." The officer have her another stare. "Prove I do then." The response to Marybeth's statement was quite straightforward as the woman put her head to her desk.

"I need coffee..." The officer said.

"And donuts?" Teased Marybeth. This earned yet another withering look... To which Marybeth remained quite impassive.

Cora was still sulking in her interrogation room when suddenly the door opened and an officer came inside. "You're free to go." The officer said to him. Cora looked at him in shock.

"Really" She asked, not sure what was going on.

"Ya, one of your teammates came to bail you out." He said leaving the door open before walking away.

Cora tensed up, she didn't know which teammate it was but hoped it wasn't Katie. That would be bad. Either way, it wouldn't be good. Any of them would certainly be furious at her, Cora knew that going into the mission. Now that she was about to face it though, she felt like she'd rather just stay in jail.

Cora made her way to the front of the police station, where she saw Kylie waiting for her in her lantern costume, she remembered to be careful not to say Kylie true name. "Ms. Lantern, thanks for coming to get me. Things didn't go exactly as planned." Cora said meekly, not really sure what else to say, preparing for the tongue lashing she would certainly receive.

Marybeth had had fun messing with her officer, even muting her a few times. Finally, much to the police woman's chagrin, another officer came in when the woman's every moved was amplified. "You're free to go", said the second officer.

"Wait, what?" Said the first one in distress. "She is clearly up to something, she-"

"Is one of the Justice Queens." The Officer finished her sentence from her, taking off the cuffs.

"Oh, did you just find that out?" Marybeth said teasingly. "I would've said so sooner, but I must admit, she was much too fun." Snickering as she was leaving, she threw the female officer one last smirk. She was in high spirits, she found this all quite fun. When she came out, she saw Cora already there with Jamie and none other than Kylie. "Oh, are you my knight in shining armor Miss Lantern? Come to save your damsel? I thank you, m'lady."

"Thanks officers, I'll make sure we talk about what happened." Kylie ignored both Cora and MB's words for now, motioning them to follow her outside. She picked up Jamie too, and walked around out of sight of the police office.

"Talk. Now. You're going to want me on your side when Katie hears about this." She looked between the three girls in front of her sternly, mostly at Cora in the middle. "Why didn't you tell the rest of us about it? If there was really a problem, we could have handled it better all together. And if it wasn't a problem... you've got even more explaining to do. Not just to us, but to SHIELD as well."
Tomia wrote:Cora felt it was kind ominous the way that Kylie ignored her and Marybeth and merely led them outside, that's when Kylie started talking. Cora gulped slightly when Katie was brought up, her girlfriend was not going to be happy. Cora sighed, and took a deep breath before speaking. "Look Kylie, I'm sorry that I never told you, but I was trying to protect you. I knew you and others might try to stop me, and if it went bad I didn't want to compromise the team. But, I won't apologize for what I did. I know I never told you really, but the place where I was created was horrible. It was a hell, where I was tortured constantly. Now they were trying to put a bunch of kids through that same thing. I just couldn't let that happen Kylie I refused. " Cora said, getting visibly angry again, not at Kylie but the memories of her time in the lab. She took a deep breath and continued. "I didn't mean to put the team in danger, but I won't regret what I did, I just can't."

Marybeth followed Kylie outside, quite interested in what might be said. When the threat was said, Marybeth simply shrugged. It wasn't her place to say the reasoning for going there, nor did she believe the threat was intended for her. How Kylie knew Cora was the ring leader here was beyond her, but she suspected it had something to do with Jamie. Thus, she simply listened to both without speaking until both had their turn. Then, Marybeth chimed in, hoping not to make things worse. "It was a personal duty for Cora is my guess," she started. "Stomp your own snakes and all that. Let's say...I don't know, a friend of yours went red lantern and went missing for months. You find out that they are killing people in, I don't know, Andromeda? You can either deal with your friend yourself, or tell the lantern corps, either way you know your friend well enough to know they'll die fighting. Which would you choose? And before you ask, no, we didn't kill anyone."

I just wasn't thinking. I do trust you, all of you. You're my friends, and I care about you all so much." Cora said, hoping that Kylie knew that. The last thing she wanted was to lose her friends. She suddenly stepped forward and pulled Kylie into a hug. "Thank you for being my friend." She said softly, holding her for a little while before pulling away. "Come on, we should get back home." Cora said, as the group flew away back toward the city. Cora was not at all looking forward to facing Katie, but Kylie was right. Katie deserved to hear it from Cora.

Kylie hugged back, smiling, before looking to Marybeth and Jamie and mouthing You're next. When she released Cora from the hug, she had returned to smiling, giving no indication of what she had said to the others. "Alright, then let's go home. We'll explain it all to Katie and laugh about it tomorrow." She made copies of Green for Jamie and MB, if they needed them to fly, and began the trek home. Some pedestrians below stopped to look up, many took pictures, and some even cheered. From the looks of things, these girls had done a lot of good for the Big Apple, making people feel safe from the super badness that permeated many cities across America. Kylie waved back with a giant green hand, and the girls eventually got home and rode the elevator up to their apartment.

"We're home!" Kylie shouted out to the building. She was unaware that Val and Del had come home, in her effort to rescue Cora from the cops, and therefore didn't know that they were out doing something heroic. Right now, she was just wondering where Katie was in the building so that they could get on with the emotional outburst that was bound to happen.

Marybeth looked rather uncomfortable with all the touchy-feely things Cora was saying, and was almost surprised when Kylie hugged back instead of recoiling. Then she remembered most people weren't like her. Shrugging, she let her eyes wander with her thoughts until she saw Kylie mouth "your next". Wait...does, does she think I'll cry and hug her too? How about no.... When offered the ring, she declined with a wave of her hand. How in hell did everyone forget she could fly? She occasioally smirked for the pictures, enjoying the attention. They probably are cheering for someone else, but hey, I'm part of this.

Once home, Marybeth sighed, stretching her back. "Alright, that was fun. I guess I'll go hit the showers now. I'm pretty sure I got blood on my leg, so I wouldn't want that staying there."

Luna

Oh look, another primitive, whatever that's some extra entertainment I suppose. "Hi, I'm Luna, the person with an iq higher than everyone in this building combined and multiplied with itself. And the one that attempted to fix your primitive food heating device, it heats things up in a second but it still needs to scan you and it can't change molecules to much, you put in eggs it's gonna make something with eggs. But I can only do so much with dark age technology. Now, to return the question, who the hell are you?" I couldn't help but giggle a bit "No need to answer if you don't want to, I'm asking out of courtesy. Everyone on this planet is easily analysed in a couple of seconds, also, I hacked pretty much everything that could be hacked in this place during my hours of boredom in my room. This planet really has nothing worth learning about, though I'll admit it has it's fun aspects."

Maybe I was going a bit overboard but I need my fun darn it.

Marybeth raised an eyebrow, both intrigued and entertained by someone who appeared to have a superiority complex on par with her own. "Marybeth, the only person here with any balls. In case your hyperactive mind can't comprehend modern slang, it means I'm willing to do what needs to be done without the paperwork. By my analysis of you, I would recommend a job as a secretary. You could hardly survive out there ranting on about nothing. Let me guess, all brain, no brawn? I suppose not all can be blessed." Still not moving from her position, she tried looking over Kylie into the fridge. "No leftover spaghetti. Disappointing. Hey, Moony, mind looking in the cupboard for some noodles? They are in this thing called a box, long and thin. If a guy is behind it, thats not noodles. Not any I'm interested in at the moment, at least."

Central Gotham

Gotham, the armpit of America. A seedy underbelly of vice, excess and debauchery, the home of some of the most dangerous criminals... and heroes in America. Arthur stood on the observation deck of Gotham's tallest building in Gotham; the Old Wayne Tower. He observed the ground below with disinterest, the people of Gotham were ants now, he stood tall over them, a watcher, an observer, even a guardian.

He drew a business card from his pocket, on it was the name "The Enforcer" it was clear white, a typical business card, barring a blood stain on the upper left corner, he fancied it as the Enforcer's calling card, from what Arthur has heard about the man he was... eccentric, to say the least.

Arthur jumped from the apex of the tower, catched by the wind he used the momentum to accelerate himself, the technicolor lights of the city below passed in a nauseating blur, soon he arrived at his destination, hovering just above the Falcone Compound, now known as the Vannis Compound. The lights were on and black shadows trailed the numerous pathways inside and outside the compound, from above it looked like an Ant-Farm.

He descended slowly, just short of the main gate, a small squad of 4 guards were stationed in front, flanking each other, it would be difficult to neutralize them, though luckily for him (and them) he had no such plans. He slowly approached the guards, his hands up in air, he made sure that his handgun was concealed. The lead guard, a big, bald man who appeared to be the leader of the small squad. He raised a gigantic arm, urging Arthur to stop, he obliged, stopping just a few feet in front of them, his black costume reflected the moonlight, making it glisten.

"Who are you?" The guard asked.

"Call me Speed Demon" He grinned, the three other guards snickered or simply laughed, but not the lead man, he was experienced enough to know that underestimating someone, especially someone in costume was not a wise thing to do. "Why are you here?"

"I wish to speak to Mr. Vannis, he left me his Business card" Arthur reached for his pocket and retrieved the blood-stained Businesscard, handing it over to the henchman. It took a few minutes, with the henchmen having to check in to the Compound's head of security but eventually Arthur entered the compound, told to wait in a guest room.

'Like hell' he thought, grinning from ear to ear. 'Time to explore'

Through the night there were reports of a black silhouette that generated large gusts of wind being spotted all throughout the compound.

Arthur grinned when he saw the guards raised their weapons, he hadn't been in a fair fight for a long time, certainly not with the Mob. He narrowly dodged the bullets coming at him, taking hold of one guard, retrieving his handgun and pointing it at his head, "One move and he's dead!" He roared, in a split second he knocked the guard out with a light punch on the back of his head, and ran at the speed of sound, brutally punching the other guard in the gut.

His ears twitched as he heard the sound of multiple cocking guns, his eyes glinted mischievously, he raised his hands, knowing that the guards had no intent on leaving him alive, the last thing they saw was a burst of wind and a black silhouette.

Arthur smirked at his handiwork, the bodies of five or so guards lied crumpled at his feet, "Alright" he said to himself whilst stretching, "The fun and games are over" he wiped the smirk off his face, in a large burst of speed he propelled himself towards a nearby pair of guards, they didn't know what was coming to them, he pistol whipped one of them into submission and lunged at the other. "Tell me where your boss is"

"I ain't tellin' you nothin' freak!" He spat, Arthur grimaced at the burst of saliva, he tightened his hold on the man's neck, the man retched, struggling to breath, "Alright alright!" He begged, "I'll tell you where he is"

He pointed towards the location of his boss, Arthur mouthed a thank you before tightening his grip again, suffocating the man, knocking him out. He propelled himself towards the Vannes head of security, pinning him on his boss' table, "So, what were your men doing exactly?" He grinned, stifling maniacal laughter.
