Extinction Rising

New York City
12:00 PM

It was a rainy day as Everett made his way down the Hillside Avenue, his grey sweatshirt's hood up and his head down, he scanned the area. Just as Ivan had told him, two on the outside, and supposedly, there was at least three on the inside. He suspected the ones inside would be more heavily armed, not being out in the open. These two, however, weren't wearing particularly heavy clothing, certainly nothing capable of hiding anything larger than a personal defense weapon.

He figured if he was going to do this, now was the time. The hero froze time, the familiar blue hue surrounding him. In real time, the two guards were knocked out in nearly and instant, and stripped of their weapons. However after knocking the two men out, he took a look up at the corner of the small indentation in the building, just before the double doors. A security camera placed there was going to make his life slightly difficult. Each time he took out a guard, it would give the man watching the cameras that much more time to react to what had happened.

Entering the building, he saw three guards in the hallways, just as he expected. He quickly dispatched them, similar to the way he did to the two out front. None of them were quick enough to counter him in the slightest. Mere thugs offered no challenge to him, almost boring him in fact. The hero quickly found the room that the arms dealer would reside in as well, all too easy. Looking around, saw three cameras. Each one was easy to destroy, as Everett briefly unfroze time to destroy each, before approaching the side of the door to the dealer's room, unfreezing time. Inside the room however, things were not as he would expect them...

-------

Blood pooled on the hardwood floor of the New York apartment, a flickering shimmer in its reflection as one of the room's two fluorescent lights began to die. The dead body of the apartments occupant, a Finnish arms dealer, laid next to a rolling chair and desk, both of which were also coated in blood. Sitting in the chair with legs up on the desk, an armored man adorned in a cloak fiddled with a Rubik's Cube, his associate standing beside him. As the cloaked man turned the Rubik's Cube a last time, completing it, he looked up to the door, a bloody corpse on both sides. "It seems that our target has come to us." the cloaked man said, in a slightly mechanical voice, "Take care of him Ulysses." The hulking man nodded, making his way towards the door, each step sounding like a normal person stomping, and shaking the floor.

On the outside, Everett heard the footsteps, and prepared to ambush his target. It took him by surprise, however, when the door blasted off of it's hinges like a breaching charge had been used on it, slamming into the wall on the other end of the hallway. As the hallway was filled with dust, Everett was unable to see the metallic arm of his assailant throwing a punch of devastating power. The attack struck Everett's left arm, instantly breaking his shoulder, causing him to be flung down the hallway, and straight into the door that had been knocked off its hinges.

The man suddenly began charging the hero again, his metallic arm winding back for another punch, this one even stronger than the last. Everett's only choice was a temporary retreat. He went intangible, freezing time, and fading through wall and jumping down to the street below. But, maintaining the time freeze was hard with his injuries, and this guy would clearly be hard to best without it. Time returned back to its normal speed, and Everett stood on the street below, the rain having picked up since he had gone into the building. The skies were dark, with clouds completely obscuring the sun.

A hole suddenly blasted open in the side of the apartment wall, chunks of rubble showering onto the streets below. The man jumped down to street level, crushing a sedan under his feet as he did. He began to approach Everett, walking as he did, leaving himself totally open. Everett seized the opportunity, freezing time and running towards his target. His broken left shoulder caused him immense pain, but he tried to ignore it. Things were getting serious, and he had a feeling that this guy was the least of his worries. Everett raised his fist, throwing as hard a punch as he could as the man, briefly unfreezing time directly as the punch would strike his target.

In that split second of time, Everett's punch struck, hitting the man's jaw. And, in that split second, the bionic metal hand of the hulking man gripped Everett's face, whiplashing the hero and throwing him directly into a car, creating a massive impact. Shattered safety glass rained to the ground as Everett laid in the car, his body's impact having bent the car's doors and body inwards. Several of his ribs had been fractured, and his broken shoulder was nearly shattered. He opened his eyes to see the man approaching, seemingly getting ready to finish the hero off. Everett knew he couldn't afford another strike like that, and this guy was fast enough to counter him in less than a split second. But, as Everett looked down, seeing a shiny artificial color spreading through the fallen rain water under the car, he got an idea.

The man reached Everett, pulling the fallen hero out of the twisted steel and lifting him by the neck. He raised his nonbionic arm, preparing to deliver the final punch, when Everett suddenly smiled. In the hero's right hand, a flicked on zippo lighter, which he dropped down to the ground just beneath the car. What ensued was a massive explosion, sparked by the gasoline dripping underneath the car, which burned straight up to the gas tank. The blast engulfed the man, and spewed sparks and black smoke throughout the air, contrasting the rain which fell from the sky. Small fires lined the street, and, on the other side from the explosion, stood Everett, having frozen time at the last minute to escape. Relief swept over his body as he saw the man laying in the center of the fire, unmoving. Some of the cyborg's flesh was burnt off, revealing robotic parts underneath the human tissue and blood. It was the source of his strength. But, as Everett caught his breath, momentarily closing his eyes, he heard a voice from the hole the man had left in the apartment building, just above the burning car.

"Another failure."

Everett turned his head to see a cloaked man in some kind of armor, the embers of the raging fires not rising in front of the new figure, but instead circling around the sides of him, as if some force dictated them to do so. His very presence seemed to darken the sky further, which only briefly lit up as a horizontal bolt of lightning exploded through the atmosphere. Everett, still gripping his shoulder, looked up at the man, "What do you want from me?" he shouted, "Who are you?!"

Police sirens could be heard in the distance, and, they quickly closed in on the street, coming in from both directions. The cloaked figure lifted his hands, opening his palms towards the sky in the gesture of a god. The police cars which quickly approached suddenly burst into flames, each one exploding in a fiery blast. As the flames which erupted from the burning husks of metal blocked off the corridor-esque street, flooding it with sparks and ash, the figure suddenly spoke from above, "You wish to know who I am?", he asked, in a deep and powerful baritone. "I am the destruction in wake of creation. I am the death in the end of life. I am the obliteration of all things. I am..."

"Extinction."

Mars
Mars saw that he had Bane weakened, but the brutal titan was not giving up. He charged at Mars in a fit of rage and slammed him hard against the wall. However Mars was able to recover and continued to slash at Bane with his electrified blades. Kiris' song was still giving him the determination to continue fighting despite being exhausted and injured. Sparks flew as the electricity from Rockets blades continued to zap Bane's strength. The fight went on for several more intense minutes until it was clear that Bane was losing energy. Mars moved quickly to dodge his attacks, Bane then began to shout at him, "Fight me you coward!" Bane yelled, clearly frustrated with Mars' style.

He managed to grab Rocket by the throat and began to squeeze hard, nearly crushing Mars' throat. "Now you die puny machine!" Mars began to struggle, he just needed to reach one button, but he could barely breath. He just managed to hit it and soon Rockets armor itself began to spark with electricity, shocking Bane once more forcing him to drop Rocket who landed on his feet. Mars looked up at Bane with determination and got into a fighting stance. "His name is Rocket!" He shouted, as Rocket flipped in the air, his feet slamming into Bane's face.

Bane staggered and swayed and soon his massive body fell to the floor. Mars then ejected himself from Rocket, falling to his knees and panting as he tried to catch his breath. His left leg and his neck hurt like hell, but he was not seriously injured. Soon Red Arrow came back and saw Bane on the ground. "Nice job Mars, I managed to take out Black Mask, but some of his men have scattered outside. We should probably go after them." Mars nodded weakly, "Ya... just give me a minute." Mars replied, sounding tired and out of breath.

Nico
"Hey, I care about you sis. And I want you to feel better." He raised an eyebrow when she said she felt fine. He could tell she was lying, but didn't know why. "Sis, is something bothering you? You know you can tell me if there is right?" Nico said, reaching for his sister's glove hand in an attempt to hold it.

The Starlight wrote:She frowned up at the slime general, knowing that if she did nothing, they would all die. She first looked to those Zakixia had summoned, Otis being among them. But they would not be enough. She considered the Destroyer, but while it might be able to fell one of the slime creatures, certainly not all of them. Looking to the heroes and Zakixia, once again, she snapped her fingers, teleporting all of them save Manifest into the Vault, arguably the safest place they could be. She and Craig had mixed magic and technology to create a shield that could feed itself from energy attacks, and none could teleport into it save those she permitted. In all of their heads, the voice of the All-Mother sounded.

"First of all, I give you my thanks. You have fought valiantly for my realm today, and I am in your debt, nor will I forget your courage. But now, I prepare an attack that shattered Mjolnir once. And I will not risk thy lives. This Vault is the most secure place in Asgard, and should I fall, there is a teleportation device near its door that may send you home if you wish, to prepare the defense of your worlds. But I remain confident. Farewell," she said, turning her attention now to Manifest, cocking her head as she did a quick estimate. "I shall raise the city's shields to better its defenses, so feel free to use thy weapon. But wait for my own attack: a Godblast. Once my attack begins, launch yours. I'm raising a shield of the Valkaforce around thee to ensure that you will not die, but still stay as far away as possible from me."

Valka, dismissing her sword, lifted off the ground, floating until she estimated she was at the center of where the creatures were situated, so that her attack could have maximum effect upon them. She glared up at the creatures, speaking so that all of them could hear. "You came to Asgard, my realm. You sought to destroy and steal. Now, die in vain, and let my face the last thing you see before you depart to that eternal night." And then, Valka began to glow, firstly dimly and then with a radiance that rivaled the sun, before she threw out her arms, sending out an all-conquering wave of both her magical god energy and of the Valkaforce towards the beings of slime.

Manifest watched for a moment in awe at Valka's attack before being blinded for a moment by the light. Shaking his head, he glared at his opponent. If she doesn't finish you off, this should at least put the hurt on you. You judged yourself powerful enough to take on Gods, being.

Suddenly, his eyes began to glow bright crimson. Above him, a human sized sphere, pulsating green and purple, began to fade into view. A Nega-Bomb. A neutered version of it, designed only to destroy life, had obliterated a chunk of a planet. This version, redesigned to obliterate matter and its power increased as opposed to neutered, would do untold destruction if not released properly. He focused, scowling, and launched the bomb towards the slime creature at several times the speed of sound using Kree rocket-tech. The Nega-Bomb, once it exploded, would release a wave of pure destruction. Regular Nega-bombs released "Negative Energy." Enough to flatten the Kree Empire in a single blow. This altered version would release more than four times that amount. He had taken the design for this weapon from a Kree 'mad scientist' type during the Builder's War, and though he had long memorized the intricacies of the design, he had judged it too powerful to use.

Until now.

You were wrong.

The bomb flew before him, embedding itself in the chest of the slime creature a half instant before Valka's attack struck. It exploded a half instant after.

Either attack on it’s own would have ended the slime creature, and the combination of both would have ended with complete annihilation. But something quite surprising happened. Val’s beam was shrunk to the size of a laser pointer, missing it’s target as it was sucked into a portal that came from nowhere. Then the nega bomb’s explosion shrunk to the size of a flea, compressed to the point of harmlessness. An astute observer might notice that the space between the particles in both attacks became so small, leading to their incredible shrinkage. One might think that Hank Pym was responsible somehow, but all one would have to do to see the culprit would be to look up, to see a massive, watering eye, the pupil alone big enough to hold the slime which could crush the city of asgard with an errant step. However before said slime could do anything, it found itself sucked into a portal, along with each of the other Xyrixma.

Then, the voice spoke.

“I am impressed with your performance guardians of Asgard, and I am not impressed easily. You are full of surprises All Mother Valka.” Remarked the eye, or rather Queen Xyrix, the owner of the eye. “I have personally razed dozens of similar realms, but yours, with a little help, managed to hold out against our scout push. That is a feat to be proud of to say the least.”

“I have good news, and bad news for you, Asgard. The bad news is that small push was just the beginning of something much larger.” Remarked the Queen. “The good news, is that I am a clement soul. I will allow… most of your universe, and by extension Asgard, to live, if you surrender to us.”

"And if you refuse…” Remarked the eye. “Though you will not fall today, for I have other plans, you will be absorbed, consumed and forgotten in due time.”

Kirisvala arrived to Mars' side not too long after his brief dialogue with Red Arrow. During the former's battle against Bane, she had been supporting him with her song from a position where it was unlikely for her to be shot at, in case some of Black Mask's goons had not been knocked out by her magical blasts and wanted to get back at her for the number she did on the Venom tanks, and she had also closed her eyes in order to better concentrate on the spell she was chanting, both of these being factors that contributed to her blindness, preventing her from seeing Mars as he fought. However, though her sight was unavailable for the time being, her hearing still worked perfectly, and so, she had come out from behind her cover when the sounds of battle no longer echoed through the warehouse, opening her eyes and noticing Mars on his knees, seemingly worse for wear after the battle, though he was the clear victor, as Bane was lying on the ground not far from him.

"Mars, are you alright?" She asked with concern after having rushed to his side. The last reverberating notes of power in the air were fading, and the effect was no doubt noticeable to the tired boy. "You... you did great, Mars." The Hadrian girl said sincerely, placing a claw on his back as gently as possible to avoid causing him any discomfort, while flashing him a genuine smile. "You did great. I'm... I'm very impressed." She said, hoping to encourage and cheer him up. It was not a lie, either; though it was true that she had not seen him fight against Bane, she still saw the results, and she thought that the fact that he had single-handedly defeated that ugly titan of a man was very impressive, not to mention everything he'd done earlier.

"If you're tired, why don't you rest a little?" She asked. "We just have to clear out this place and then we can go home, right?"

Not too long after Etla was finished dealing with the invading Black Arms, she noticed Ralph approaching her from somewhere nearby, clearly feeling better than before, though still looking rather beat up. At the moment, she was attempting to clean her enemies' blood from her blade and her armor, with some parts of it laid out in front of her, the gaps in her outfit allowing one to see the traditional clothes of the Rainborn that she wore underneath the silver and red armor. Seeing the rat fellow walk right by and sit down in a nearby crate, she smiled, glad that he was awake, about to ask him how he felt when he spoke up first, saying something about 'Chaos Emeralds'. Evidently, she was not entirely sure of what all he was going on about, since she hadn't been there to see his struggle to get the shiny jewels, first from Catwoman and then from the black coyote thing, but even so, her naturally high curiosity was piqued near-instantly, and she found herself attentively listening to what the ratty Mobian had to say to her.

When Ralph's speech was over, Etla looked back to her task and quickly finished cleaning off her weapon and her armor, placing the formerly bloodstained parts back on their places and then picking up her sword, before finally looking towards the rat. She had never been very tall, so at the moment, she and the Mobian were more or less even, but Etla hardly noticed, and didn't really care. She simply nodded at him, a thrilled smile present on her face.

"To be honest I didn't catch half of what you said. But if there's battles to be had and bad guys to beat up, then you can count me in."

Lord Satera/The Highfather of Mortis

As soon as Satera and his group emerged, he smiled and nodded his head "Thank you for allowing us to this most sacred Realm, Myself and my Group will provide whatever assistance necessary in order to pacify this threat to the Asgardian Real-" Satera stopped right in his tracks as he walked out of the Bifrost and looked up into the sky, a massive eye staring down upon the entire realm of Asgard, this was not something people would see every day, but Satera figured that in such a Universe of Superheroes and Supervillains, anything was bound to happen "Alright..." Satera stated as he turned to his group, all of them staring at the massive eye in mild amazement, they too knew that anything could happen in this Universe that they inhabited "The First step is to find the All-Mother and see what she needs done, step two, after achieving Step One, we should help the Asgardians Rebuild in the event that there is any structural advantage, that is the game plan, and let us stick to it, Lets go!" Satera exclaimed, taking off at speeds that rivaled even the Now-Deceased Odin Borson.

It only took him and his allies a few seconds to reach the location of the All-Mother Valka, and not a second too soon, as he heard everything that the Great Eye had said, and he did not like it one bit "There is always no rest for the weary after all..." Satera said inwardly, staring up at the eye, he had to deal with the Dark Gods, which was child's play, and now a massive eye was now threatening the Universe? If Satera could count how many times that the Universe was threatened, he would have become an Omniscient God instead of an Omnipotent one, turning to Valka, his face remained calm and collected as he addressed the All-Mother "There really is no rest for the weary is there, also, if you remember Alastir, then we remain on good terms All-Mother, for I am the fusion of Lord Alastir and Lord Spera, but while I'm not entirely them, I am the race that existed before their own race, I am the Eleventh Primordial known as Lord Satera..." Taking a bow to the All-Mother, Satera spoke "I am at your command great All-Mother of Asgard."

Mars
Mars' felt Kiris' claw pressing on his shoulder. His armor prevented her from hurting him with her claws. He couldn't help but blush a bit when Kiris complimented his success. He then noticed the lost of the presence of Kiris' song. That thought made him a bit sad, as he had become quite comfortable with the presence of her music in the air. He slowly brought himself to his feet, "Uh thanks, I'm just glad it worked. And thanks for your help with the song. I... well... I couldn't have done it without you." He said sincerely, forcing himself to overcome his dislike of relying on other people for help. He then shook his head softly when Kiris asked if he wanted to stay and rest. "No, its okay, I'm fine Kiris. I can rest on the ship. The sooner we get out of here the better." He said to her as he began to walk slowly and gingerly before it got a little easier and he was able to walk a bit more normally. The three of them headed out of the factory and back toward the forest, Red Arrow was keeping an eye out for stragglers when suddenly they came upon a large group of tied up Black Mask thugs. Red Arrow quickly drew his bow and Mars raised an eyebrow, "Who could have done this? It couldn't have been Bane's men, they would have killed them, not tied them up." Mars said as he looked around for the party responsible for the capture.

Almost as soon as the 3 ran in to the bound bodies, a voice could be heard in their heads "You're quite right about it not being Bane's men." The voice stopped and then continued again, only this time from an actual voice and not mentally. "Greetings, I'm professor Xavier and these are my X-men, I'm sure you've heard of us at some point or another. If not then now you have. I've come to learn some of you are parts of a new group calling themselves the Young Bloods. I've come to ask something of you. A favor I suppose."

Most of the x-men were busy keeping an eye on the surroundings more than the conversation itself, it was really only Professor X speaking out at this moment. And behind him, was a young teenage girl shyly hiding herself from sight. Only peeking just enough to see who professor X was talking to.

Valka Silverhand
Slime War - Never Surrender

"Many a foe, many an enemy has attempted to conquer the halls of Asgard. I have rebuilt Asgard, many, many times, Queen of Slime. But all, in the end, have failed. The children of Asgard have been captured, tortured, killed even, but still this city, this realm, still it stands. We endure. Some call us gods, others call us false gods, all, call us legendary. Mountains rise and stars die, but this golden city, this precious stone set in a silver sea, remains eternal, everlasting."

"You call yourself a queen, Xyrix, in that, we are alike. But you should know one thing all too well, queens bow to no one. I have bent my knee once, in deception, and the one who had be to bow had his bowels ripped out by a hammer that was summoned from a galaxy away and circled around the sun twice. You say that you have razed similar realms, to these, I tell you that there is no similar realm to Asgard. There are imitators, pretenders, but none match our glory. The light of Yggdrasil shines only in one place truly, and you look upon it."

"But I am more than just a queen, Xyrix, I AM ALL-MOTHER. In the caverns beneath the Lake of Remembrance, I hear a girl whispering to her little brother, that all will be safe. The warriors sharpen their swords and prepare for death, each of their lips moving, reciting the Warrior's Oath they all learn before they pick up a sword. Others stand before the Wall, that great wall where the names of the slain are carved by lightning and fire, they too recite, their names, one by one. The leaves of Yggdrasil stir, the sun hangs in the sky, the hearth flickers on in the halls behind me. Can you hear them? I do. I hear their prayers, I remember their names, I bid them good night, for I am their mother. When they weep, I am there, when their eyes open for the last time, I am there, when they breathe their last in a bed or upon a battefield, I am there, for I am the mother of them all. And a mother never surrenders her children."

"So know this, Xyrix, Queen of Slime! When this universe faced the Builders, its heroes united! Its heroes assembled! And its heroes drove back the enemy. Upon Hala, I asked an Accuser this, and I shall ask it again. " Valka said, turning to Manifest. "Are you a free man, my friend?"

"Yes."

She turned to the newly arrived Lord Satera and the rest of his group, "Are you free men, Lords of the Masaki?"

"Yes."

She looked up at the eye once more. "They are free men, and so, I am a free woman. Asgard, is a land of the free. Throughout this universe, the Builder War showed that there are many free souls who would die before bowing the knee. And there is your answer. Come, Queen of Slime, come and attempt to raze this realm, try to raze Midgard, if you dare. It matters not if we fall. For I speak for this universe when I say this, no surrender. Never surrender. We will fight, as Asgard has always done! That which is free shall remain free! So absorb our realms and slay our warriors! Fill thy thirst, and I promise you this, there will be more free souls who shall resist. We will curse thee to the last of our breaths. We will fight upon heights unknown and in caverns deep! We will fight upon plains and upon planets that have no name. We will fight beneath the stars and on moonless nights. We will fight, and the hearth, our hope, shall never be quenched. The flame, Xyrix, burns on, unquenchable, eternal! This I say to you as Queen of Asgard, She with a Silverhand. This I say to you as the savior of the universe. This I say to you as All-Mother! This I say to you as Goddess of Fire!" Valka said, her voice rising to a shout at which all of Asgard shook. NEVER SURRENDER!!!"

"And know this, Slime-queen, we shall meet on the field of battle, and you will taste my wrath. Remember my name, Xyrix, remember my name. Tis Valka, Valka Silverhand. Thy children shall whisper it in death-dirges, in the day of the funeral. As for myself, Asgard, Midgard, the Nine Realms and the entirety of the free universe, I tell you this: We die free."

And then, Valka cried out, to Thor, and whistling through the air to her hand came Mjolnir. The All-Mother thrusted it into towards the firmament, and the clouds brewed. Then, creating a piece of metal that stood fifty feet tall, she let the lightning down upon it, carving the metal. All this she did while staring at the giant eye. Then, summoning fire upon it, and after that lightning again, she looked upon her work. Upon the statues were the heroes of the Builder War: Valka, Hadrimmelis, Manifest, Craig, Naja, and Xander. They stood in a semi-circle, the statues having solemn faces, each of them holding a flaming sword, a fire that would never go out, despite rain or snow. And upon those flaming blades, one word was etched into each of them: Freedom. And below their feet, upon the platform the statues stood upon, there was a simple statement, carved by lightning: We die free.

"Let that be a testament, Xyrix, Queen of Slime. Strike it down, if you dare, and another, just the same shall rise up, so it shall be with the defenders of this universe. But I am a merciful queen," Valka said, a malicious smile breaking out. "You may return here, in two days, that amount of time should be sufficient for your people to lick their wounds. And then, if you still have courage, come, and we will fight, and you will die."

With that, Valka turned, walking calmly to the Vault, Manifest and the guardians of the Masaki Galaxy following her. None of them looked back. And there, by the statue, was Gungnir, thrust into the ground. And upon its tip, a flag waved, and upon it was one thing, a silver hand.

Never surrender.

The All-Mother turned to Lord Satera, beholding him. "Welcome to Asgard, Lord Satera. It is good to see Asgard's allies, though I wish it was under better circumstances. But the greatest bonds of all are forged in battle. It will be my pleasure to fight alongside you."

"Okay! So let's get- Awe..." He sighed when he saw that he was in the vault. "And I just came up with another terribly amazing idea... Oh well." He said and was happy when Valka came back a few minutes later looking tired, but victory was declared, so that was good. He wished he could've seen it, but if Valka said it was safe to be in the vault while she went and did her god thing. It was mostly okay with him. "And with that. I'm tired and hungry. I'm gonna go home. Shower, eat, and then have a heart attack. In that order." He was exhausted. Superheroing was tough, but it felt good. Asgard was safe. "Oh. Katie. You might wanna vacate the premises, AKA my body before I head back home. Don't wanna drag you all the way back home!" He said as a bright blue ring streaked across the sky.

The wedding

Naja walked down the aisle and stood across from Xander. They both grabbed eachother's hands and waited for their part. The part where they got to say "I do" and kiss in front of dozens of people. They waited what felt like an hour, but was little more than a minute to get to the good part. "Do you, Xander, take Naja, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

"I do." He said.

"And do you, Naja. Take Xander to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." She replied, trying to contain her excitement. Had her tail not been prehensile, she might have accidentally hit the minister with it. Given her strength, it would have been painful.

"Then by the power vested in me, I pronounce you husband and wife." He said and both Naja and Xander immediately kissed.

Cat looked panicked and then lightly slipped her hand from her brothers grasp. Perhaps with more speed and force than she intended. “Nothing is bothering me brother… I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m fine.” She repeated, then inhaled and exhaled. “I know you care, but I don’t need help. I just need to… need to be alone…”

Nico felt Cat pull away from him forcefully, as if she was scared of him for some reason. She looked very shaken up and just kept repeating "I'm fine" over and over even though that was clearly not the case. He was about to object but his sister looked very upset and asked to be left alone. Nico pulled away willingly, though he clearly had a hurt look on his face. "Alright, I'll leave you alone." He said softly, his hurt feelings seeping into his voice as well. "I'm sorry I bothered you." And with that he turned around and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. He took a deep sigh, now his sister was afraid of him even being near her. He felt even stronger about his suspicion now. As someone who knew what it was like to be a mutant and trying to hide it, he was seeing the signs very clearly, he just didn't know how to reach out to his sister about it.

Lord Satera/The Highfather of Mortis

Satera smiled as he rose up, his great height showing off his majestic form, his pale white face, the red markings of Alastir, the long hair of Lord Spera, and the iconic horns of his dragon form, but what truly set Satera aside from anyone else was the Combat Armor that he adorned, a beautiful combination of Gold and Black, which also matched his eyes, the burning gold in his eyes that represented the billions of years of knowledge that the Primordial race. Satera was arguably the pinnacle of all Primordials, the ultimate power of his people as well as the progenitor of the Immortal Race, and when angry, Satera was a force to be reckoned with "I am honored to be in the presence of the All-Mother of Asgard, the Guardians of the Milky Way Galaxy, as well as my equal, for I am the Newly Anointed Highfather of Mortis, the realm that oversees all activity in my home Galaxy, and it will be an honor to fight alongside the Asgardians in their darkest hour, to stand up against the forces of darkness and drive them back unto whence they came." Satera stated proudly, remembering the last stand of One as well as the Dark Gods, one of the greatest battles that the Masaki Group had to face, a testament of the hope they had on that day.

Asumar and Kazuko exchanged glances with each other, the passion of the Asgardians reminded the two Masaki's of their own Passion, the will to never give up was strong within the Asgardians, and that impressed the two of them to say the least, even the Grand Warlord himself was impressed by their willpower, but besides that, Asumar paid special attention to the infrastructure of the Asgardians, It was impressive, no, it was majestic to say the least! Something that Asumar would take important notice throughout his visit in Asgard. Due to the Asgardians being their allies, Asumar decided to speak up and address the All-Mother "All-Mother Valka Silverhand, may I ask If It is alright for our people to be guests in your most sacred home of Asgard, as we don't have a place on Earth to live at, and I'd prefer to stay off of the Earth for a little while longer, until this threat is dealt with." Asumar asked.

Vega: Red
Demon Hunter: Blue

Great Basin Desert

Vega was walking around in the desert, observing the skeletons of the dead animals around him. He watched as hungry vultures pecked at the skin of those animals. He watched as those same vultures flew away, going away towards the scorching sun. Vega then stopped, hearing footsteps behind him. He turned around, but saw nothing behind him except some cacti and a few tumbleweeds. Vega continued walking through the desert, and he sat down on a rock near a stream to rest and drink some water. But before he could quench his thirst, he saw a Demon Hunter out the corner of his eye.

"Oh, what a lovely surprise! Another worthless human to crush. This will be so much fun". The demon hunter, whose name was Damian Duke, briefly said "You will die today, demon. Your kind is not welcome here". The demon hunter grabbed a flask of holy water out of his jacket, and splashed it on Vega. Vega thought to himself "Ow, that actually burns. I must take care of this guy before he does something serious. I can tell he is well equipped, but if I can sneak behind him and snap his neck or something, I'll be able to successfully kill him". He then said aloud "I don't want to kill you...who am I kidding, of course I do. You will burn in hell." Vega charged towards the hunter in order to trick him. The demon hunter tried to splash more water on Vega, but in the blink of an eye, he was gone. Unbeknownst to him, Vega teleported right behind him. The hunter then felt cold hands on his neck, and Vega whispered "Goodnight" He snapped the hunter's neck and made his head turn a full 180 degrees. Vega summoned the Flames of Hell to disintegrate the body of the hunter, and the hunter and everything he owned was turned to ash, and those ashes flew into the wind, never to be seen again. "That was too easy. I need a better challenge". Vega kept walking in the desert, trying to find the nearest city.

Xyrix paused for a moment, and then laughed. Her haughty laugher filling asgard with sound, able to be heard even in the vault. “A bold challenge All Mother. However, you mistake my clemency for stupidity. I will not come to Asgard first when my horde makes war with this verse, I have other plans. I will not fight on your terms. You will fight me on mine. When I bear down upon your home, it will be with the rest of the universe devoured. When we devour Asgard it will be with your allies broken or consumed. You will have no help to call. And I have no bowels to rip out.”

“However… I know threats will not sway you, so instead I will simply tell you the complete truth.” Spoke the voice. “I love my children as you do, I care for each and every one of them, for I was the first of our race and created the others from my own flesh. However in order to ensure survival, we need to eat. We need to feed. It’s simply how we function. Without it, my children die.”

“You mistake your role as well. When I say I will end you. It is not a threat one makes to an enemy, but an apology one makes to a pig before the slaughter. It is out of pity, not arrogance that I offer you a way out. I need to feed those under my care, and devouring part of your universe is the only way I can do that in time, and it need not necessarily be this part. So understand, that I act without malice, but with the need for my people in mind. I wish only for their prosperity and health. And if becomes a choice between your life and theirs, I will do everything to make sure my people are fed.”

“So don’t misunderstand you position. You are not enemies. You are not another kingdom to be conquered. You are not a land to be taken. No.”

“You are nothing but a feast to us. Prey to be consumed. And one day soon, we will eat. Like the sheep and the farmer, you will be devoured. So think on death instead, now that you have declined my reasonable offer. You may have much time to do so, or you may not. It depends on how hungry we are.” And with that the Eye departed. Gone from the sky in an instant, and with her the invading force.

In the Vault
"Well, she sound pleasant." Remarked Katie, having left Otis’ body. She then had an idea. “Oooh! Valka! I have an idea! Victory Banquet. With meat, mead and all sorts of goodies. Though I don’t really drink mead, but the other stuff will be awesome.”

"You take care. I'll be here, with the grumpy cat." Garnet shouted at Masami as she left, pausing for a moment afterwards as she considered that grumpy cat was probably a better nickname for Akari than it was for Taro, before simply giving a mental shrug. It was just a stupid nickname, there was no need to be so analytical about it. It was as if the mind of some mildly obsessive lazy good-for-nothing from across the world had suddenly influenced her thought pattern, but she decided not to ponder it any longer and instead turned her attention to the not-quite-feline grumpy cat.

"That's lovely. Your optimism is contagious my friend." The blonde woman said with mild sarcasm as she looked around. "In any case, I don't smell anything, but it's probably moot to ask me, since you're the ones with magic noses. We should probably start looking for the kids, though. I don't see why Oni would set up a complex facade and amass an army of cannon fodder if they only wanted to kidnap the children for fun or for munchies. There's probably something else at play here, so the kids should be fine." Garnet shrugged, and then began looking around and shouting in order to find the children.

Akihiko continued glaring at her, but though he was still quite angry, he felt the burning slowly subside as he listened to Akari's words. Even though neither she nor Taro had been particularly nice to him either, he had to admit that she had a point, he had acted perhaps too aggressively during what little time he had spent with them. He started regretting his words a little, and as his anger subsided, so did the burning pain present in his chest.

Then she spoke about her gloves, and Akihiko nearly bit his own tongue off.

Eventually, though, he stood up, after having managed to calm down enough so that his blood was no longer rioting inside of him. He looked at Akari. "You're right." He stated. "I've been irritable and rude. I'm not used to work with other people, and I have my secrets that I'd like to keep to myself. I should've thanked you for freeing me and I did not. I should apologize for that." He said, each word sounding like it was forcibly taken from his breath, though that only made it seem more sincere, as the only one forcing him to say it was himself. "...With that said," He continued. "it is usually not considered polite to treat others as if they were inferior, or to pry on someone else's secrets, and it's definitely not nice to drop a scabbard on someone's head while they're taking a rest after having been nearly beat to death while helping you." He stated. He then noticed Masami approaching and shook his head, taking a deep breath. "I'm sorry about your gloves. I hope they didn't suffer too much."

Walking off towards Masami, he sheathed his sword on the magnetic scabbard, which he attached to his belt, and looked at the Kitsune. "The kids?"

Akasi smiled, and then nodded. "In that case, you are forgiven. And I apologise for hitting you with a scabbard. It was hardly the most ladylike thing to do all things considered." She remarked, then noticed Masami coming towards them and asking about the children. "Oh, right. Them. Hmmm... I hope our more hirsute Kistune friend doesn't find them first. It would take some explaining... I suppose we could always say that he's some form of mutant." She remarked, keeping in mind they were suppose to hide from most humans. Garnet was an exception, though such things would have to be explained to her.

"It doesn't matter much, as long as the children are found and evil plots are foiled, then we should be fine.' Remarked the female Kitsune, who then perked up her ears. She then began sniffing for something, going down a hallway until she found more dungeion like cells, but inside there were cages, each with a child.

But perhaps what was somewhat disturbing was that in an area, there was a forge. In the area, a blade was stabbed into the ground, eminating dark energies. It seems to make anyone nearby almost sick. Masami aproached it, looking at it. "So... this is what they were making... they must have needed the childrens blood..." She stepped back, feeling a little sick. "We can't just leave it here..."

Mars
Mars was startled when a voice suddenly filled his mind. It was crystal clear in his head, but there was no one around. Just when Mars thought he was hallucinating, a man in a wheelchair came into view with a group of young adults and teenagers in costumes behind him. When he heard the man speak, he realized that he was the one whose voice was in Mars' mind just a moment ago. Mars realized the man must be a telepath and was able to read his mind as well as communicate with him. He wasn't too shocked then when the man introduce himself as Charles Xavier, leader of the X-men. Mars had done a good amount of personal research about other super heroes in his free time, and between his follower's uniforms and the and Charles' unique characteristics, it wasn't too hard for him to identify them.

"I've heard about you. Thank you for your help here, I've heard that you've done a lot of good work for mutant kind. And you're right, I'm a member of the Young Bloods, my name Is Mars, its nice to meet you. This is Dragon Mage, she's part of our team too. So you want a favor from us? What could we possibly do for the X-men?" Mars asked, genuinely wondering what Professor X could want of them. Mars then noticed a girl standing behind the Professor's chair, almost as if she was trying to hide herself. She was looking over at the three of them nervously like she was afraid they would see her. Mars wondered who this girl was, and why she seemed to be so nervous.

The Templar High Council wrote:"And he's outta here!" She commented happily. "Might wanna get home before he gets back. I didn't know I had so many admirers." With that slight laugh out of the way, along with a hefty sigh, Kylie flew speedily down to New York, arriving home on the roof of JQ Tower. Where she slumped down to rest, removing her GL uniform and staring up at the sky. Well, if I wasn't a hero, I wouldn't have survived that. Thanks, Ring. With a fond look towards her right hand, Kylie contentedly sighed on the roof.

After a much needed break spent staring at the sky, Kylie picked herself up and went downstairs. That Red Knight was really bothering her; how did he know her name? But there wasn't a way she could find out about him. Not like she could Google the guy.

...

"Well, it couldn't hurt to try?" Kylie said to herself, chuckling at the idea. Locking the roof access behind her, she walked downstairs to the Justice Queen's home in their tower. It feels bigger than it used to be, probably because the girls had cleared out the floor right below them as guest rooms. They had begun collecting trophies from enemies too; nothing major, just a helmet here and there, maybe a chunk of rubble. Kylie had helped clear up after the Civil War disaster, and had grabbed a chunk of concrete which she etched the details of the event into. Not a great memory, but it reminded the girls of what they had done.

Ignoring that, Kylie sat down on the team's main computer, worked on by Katie and Cora after the group decided that they needed something with enough horsepower to deal with the technology in the tower. So this giant computer, some might call it a supercomputer, was made to handle incoming calls from across New York, as well as the JQs friends in other places. It could access security cameras across New York and a number of satellites to see where help was needed. It also had access to SHIELD databases on villains, and played killer video games.

On that note, Kylie sat down at the massive machine and began typing. She tried a number of things: "red lantern knight," "red knight space," and "red knight bad guy." She then tried "red knight perceval," and go something that wasn't fanfiction. A knight, the murderer of Sir Perceval of the Round Table's father, who was eventually slain by Perceval himself. But that was just a fairy tale, right? It's not like this knight is the same knight from that story, come to kill her family... right?

Hurriedly, Kylie called her father to make sure he was OK. He asked what was worrying her, but she shrugged it off, blaming college exams. But her father could tell that something actually bothered her.

"Kylie, you still have the ring I gave you, right?"

"Yeah, Dad. I never let it out of my sight." Kylie looked at her hand, turning over the non-superpowered ring she owned. The GL ring was on her middle finger, the Perceval family ring on her ring finger.

"Good. Don't ever lose that, sweetie. It's my good luck charm. Or, was mine. Now it's yours. It's been in the family longer than your grandfather ever knew. If you keep it safe, it'll do the same for you."

"Thanks Dad. Love you." Hanging up the phone, Kylie looked longingly at the silver ring. "Well, if you're so lucky, help me out of this." As expected, the ring didn't do anything. But Kylie did feel better remembering that she had this lucky charm on her side. "Ring, are you listening?"

["Yes?"]
["Yeah?"]

"..."

Kylie silently stared at her two hands, both the Green and Yellow rings responding to her question. "OK, now that there are two of you, let's get this straight. Both of you have a voice, right?"

["Indeed."] said the Green ring, in a proper tone that relayed his respect for his owner.
["Of course."] replied the Yellow ring, sounding like a demonically possessed man.

"Then from now on, I call you by your color. But for now..." Kylie pointed both of her rings at the computer screens. "Tell me about this guy."

["Known as the Red Knight, Sir Ither of Kukumerlant is a character in de Troyes' Arthurian tale: Perceval, the Story of the Grail."]
["The Red Knight killed Perceval's father and stole a golden cup from King Arthur. Perceval fought the knight in a forest, not knowing the circumstances, and brought his armor and the cup back to Camelot."]

"I get that, but why is he trying to kill me?"

["Couldn't tell ya."]
["So helpful, aren't you?"] Green replied. ["In the reality we live in, strange things are known to happen often. Maybe it's someone wanting to reenact Arthur's tales by trying to kill the Perceval line. Or it could be an alien with a grudge against the Green Lanterns, and you just happened to be here."]
["Or it's a psychopath who found a red ring and was driven mad."]

"I actually think it might be both. And if that's coincidental enough... do you think we could get help?"

["What do you have in mind?"]

"Well, if King Arthur stories are trying to be reenacted, and we live in such a strange world, do you think it's possible for someone to live forever?"

["Girl, what are you trying to say?"]

"Magic is real. I learned that from Adam and Xander. Who's to say Merlin from King Arthur isn't still alive?"

Both of the formless voices fell silent.

["Well, it is possible."]
["Not only possible, I bet she's right."]

"Great! Do you two think you can scan the world for signs of old magic?"

["Not from here, we can't."]
["Perhaps from low orbit, though."]

"Well alright then! Now we've got a plan!" Kylie left the computer as-is, with pages open to the Red Knight and Merlin. She took her JQ communicator, just in case, and took off for space to get a good reading. With this red maniac on the loose, time was of the essence. If they could find Merlin, they might also find the answers to why this was happening.

Great Basin Desert

As Vega kept treading the desert, he saw long in the distance a large city. He quickly flew over towards it, and read the sign. "Salt Lake City. I guess I can stay here for a while. But I've got put on a disguise first. Hm...where is a bathroom. Ah, there's one at that store over there". Vega sneakily walked past everyone, trying to make himself unseeable by others. He then realized he could just go into his Shadow Form and sneak past everyone. "Why didn't I think of that early. Silly me". Vega's body turned pitch black and shot down to the ground. This was his Shadow Form, and he slithered on the ground towards the clothing store. When he got there, he found a leather jacket, a white T-shirt, and some jeans. He also found boat shoes and aviator sunglasses. He quickly grabbed those and rushed towards the clothing room in hopes that no one would see him. When he made it in the clothing room, he put on the clothes and walked out of the changing room. His armor could be summoned at anytime, so he didn't have to worry about losing that.

While Vega was trying to leave, the cashier walked up to him and said "Sor, you can't just take those clothes. If you walk any further, I will have to call the police. Vega just stared at him for what seemed like hours. Vega then tried to walk out, but the cashier then said "I am calling the police. Please put the clothes back where they came from". Vega turned back around and saw the cashier was on the found with the cops. Vega kicked the phone out of his hand in the blink of an eye, and the cashier tried to fight back. When he punched Vega, he didn't cause any pain whatsoever. "What are you?" the cashier said, scared for his life. Vega then replied "I am the thing that keeps you up at night, your worst fears come to life. You have tried to hurt me, and you will suffer the consequences". Vega hand was covered in fire, and when he punched the cashier, the cashier went flying back and crashed into a wall. Vega then walked up to his unconscious body, and burned it with the flames of hell. "Pathetic human. He should known better than to fight me". He then set the shop ablaze.

When Vega walked outside, he was surround by cop cars and riot vans. A police officer yelled into a megaphone, saying "Put your hands up. You are under arrest for arson, theft, and murder. Vega kept walking towards the cars, and the officer yelled "If you do not stop, we will shoot!" Vega kept moving towards them, as if he said nothing. "This is your last warning, sir. I will shoot! Do you understand!" Vega kept walking until the police officer yelled "Fire!" Bullets went flying everywhere, and the street was filled with lead. All of the officers guns were being fired, and hundreds of bullets came flying from the guns of the officers. But what was this? The bullets bounced off of Vega like rubber, and he kept walking towards them. The police officers were stunned. Some ran away while others were shooting and praying that their lives would be spared. Vega then chillingly said "Prayers won't save you from your utter demise. Feel the wrath of Vega!" He then summoned fire to fill the whole block, and was laughing maniacally as police officers were burning, screaming for their lives. He watched as cars blew up and civilians ran away, scared as hell. He didn't any civilians escape, and shot concussion beams from his fingertips, which disintegrated them on impact. He burnt down the buildings around him, and waited as more police officers came. He then walked up to one of the dead bodies, and took the gun he had in his holster. Vega then walked down the city blocks, burning buildings and people in his wake.

Otis stretched his legs after Katie left his body. "Ummm... Glad I could help. Anyways, I should get going." He said and as he was about to shoot off Asgard with Mjolnir. When a blue streak went across the sky and onto his finger.

"Otis Steredenn of sector 2814. You have the ability to instill great Hope. Welcome to the Blue Lanterns." The ring said. Otis was more annoyed with it as he knew it would be even longer before he got the chance to get home to Attilan. He was hungry, covered in slime and sore. And now he was all of that and speed through space at speeds far surpassing that of light. As was standard for any Lantern. He hardly got the chance to enjoy it, as after a few minutes, he arrived on the planet Elpis where he expected to be greeted by other Blue Lanterns, but instead, all he saw was the power battery. "Umm... Hello? Anyone here? New recruit here!" He called out but got no response. "Okay. This would be a lot creepier if it were night time."

A few more minutes of looking around for someone led him to a solemn looking man with a blue ring floating beside his head. "Hey buddy. You okay? You're lookin' a little down." He said and sat down beside the man. "We'll start with the things we should. Like names! You can call me Bolt or Otis. Whichever's easiest for you. So what's yours?" He asked.

"S- Walker. My name is Walker." He was surprised to see someone who had already gotten a blue ring, but after the Reach massacred the Blue Lanterns, he was in no mood to do anything. Saint Walker had lost his hope. "Now please... Just go."

"Come on. I've got this blue ring because I'm good at making people hopeful. If I can survive my own mother trying to kill me. I'm sure I can help you."

"You don't understand! I have NOTHING anymore! My corp is dead! My family is DEAD! What do I have left?!"

"Ouch... That... That really sucks, I'm not going to lie. I might not be much... But I'm here. I know what it's like to have people you love ripped away from you. Or try to kill you. You feel alone. You feel like the entire universe is trying to kill you. You go someplace alone and scream at the sky why it had to be you. But things get better. They really do. It hurts. It feels like there's a knife in your chest. I can't make you feel better. I want to. But if you really just want to mourn for a bit. That's okay. I understand. I just want you to know that, even though we just met. You can talk to me." HE pat Saint Walker on the back and let the poor man poor out his heart to him. It was the least he could do.

The Wedding

XAnder didn't remember setting up fireworks, but her certainly wasn't going to complain about them. He smiled at his wife and looked to the clapping crowd. For one of the few times in his life, he felt like he accomplished something. Something great. He had a beautiful wife, a country, many, many friends. "Thank you. All of you. I couldn't have made it this far without meeting all of you at some point in my life. And I think this sets the stage for a beautiful and bright future. For all of us." He smiled and kissed Naja and whispered in her ear. "And I've got something special for you..." He snickered. "Now. For the next best part of the wedding: Cake!"

Slavery is Freedom Part Five

When Tomia woke up, she was laying in bed, covered in stiff, red bandages. Cassandra sat by her bedside quietly, messing with the gold and blue fabric Tomia used to tie her hair back. From what she remembered, her father had wore the dogi this fabric came from. Lord Broly had given it to her so she'd behave.

" C-Cassandra?"

" Morning Sleeping Beauty." The woman smiled, taking Tomia's hand within her own. " Lord Broly took your mother on a trip. They won't be back for a few weeks now."

" My ribs and legs hurt a bit." The Saiyan admitted, struggling into a sitting position. " What happened?"

The grip on her hand tightened slightly as Cassandra leaned into her, breathing lightly into the crook of her neck. " He left after he beat the tar out of you. According to what we saw, he had his way with you and beat the day lights out of you for disobeying him and fighting back. Frankly, my dear you're lucky to be alive."

" Oh." Tomia paused, testing her muscles for soreness or tightness. Finding none, she shrugged, kissing Cassamdras cheek gently as she stood. Lord Broly must've hired an incredible healer to fix her up. He couldn't have anyone knowing he beat his wife, nit with his rule as fragile as it was.

" Do you feel well? I figured we could have a picnic." Cassandra smiled, holding her gently. Tomia wasn't sure what this was, what she and Cassandra did, they were close, but she felt no real attachment to the young prostitute . Tomia knew she should feel bad, but she felt nothing. Weirdly, the only thing she felt was a guilt at hiding her relationship from the public.

" S-Sire." Tomia answered quietly, following Cassandra. " That'd be great."

Tomia wrote:Mars

"No need to hide Rin, these people are why we are here" Prof X said and shyly but surely Rin moved from behind Prof X's wheelchair looked down on the ground rubbing her foot against her leg "H..., Hi, I'm, ..., I'm Rin." Not looking up for a moment wile wearing some sort of headset that looked thick enough to block any sound. Xavier smiled and continued talking "This young lady is a former member of the X-men, but due to an accident she has lost her memory, all of it, and my powers are incapable of restoring them, because of this reason me, the other x-men and Rin herself felt like it was a better idea for her to find a new, young group where she could fit in and learn again once more. You'll find her to be a quick learner as she still has her muscle memory and trained reflexes."

As Rin walked over to the Young Blood members she never stopped looking down, to shy to raise her head. At that time Xavier went back to telepathic communication "There is something else you should know, and something you mustn't ever mention to Rin herself. Her mutant powers have taken over the part in her brain controlling long term memory, my powers could not help her remember because every memory over 7 days old gets thrown out by her brain because it has lost the capability to retain it. Her aging process is also impaired by her powers, she may very well be this age forever. It's why she needs a place that can function more than just a team, a place she can see as a family. I hope the Young Bloods can provide that."

Charmera wrote:Xyrix paused for a moment, and then laughed.

"Victory banquets require victory achieved." Manifest said bitterly, underneath his ebony helm. "We may have staved off their forces, but their leader... She is a forced to be reckoned with. I will not banquet while I know my allies throughout the Universe are in peril." He summoned the Manifest Blade, staring at it for a moment. It was one of the most powerful and ancient weapons in the Universe, capable of defying the might of the Builders themselves- And it only held a portion of its power of olde.

"Valka. I... May know a way to defeat them. But should I attempt it, I may come out of it a changed person. I... Promise me this, All-Mother of Asgard. If my hand is forced, if the Blade is unleashed, and I fall to its deadly whims..."

He turned towards her solemnly, his midnight armour somehow far more ominous than it was before. "Do not let me continue on that path, by any means necessary. I have seen where it leads, and it leads to death and destruction untold. Will you promise me this, Valka Silverhand?"

She would understand the implications. The Manifest Blade, even in its present form, was powerful nearly beyond measure. During the Builders' War, Manifest had told Valka and the others of its greatest secrets, and had explained what going to the Throne of the Universe would do both to the Blade and to his mind.
