Group Goal: To topple the U.S Government and restore the U.S to it's former glory under a severe interpretation of the original constitution.
Group Priorities: To elevated it's status from terrorist group to a full on revolutionary group and expand it's influence into the Eastern Seaboard of America.
Group Short Info: The Sons of Liberty were formed shortly after the annexation of Alaska by Canada, which they (and many others) saw as the last straw for foreign intrusions on U.S sovereignty.At first a ragtag group of freedom fighters, criminals, and angry men, it soon grew, with the American Mafia (on the decline like the rest of America), parts of the military, and even corporations backed the movement. On July 4, 2017, the 241 anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Sons of Liberty announced it's formation as an umbrella group of all resistance movements previously existing. Large amounts of the Great Plains (base support area) were made lawless by the group, and by 2019 they controlled all major cities West of the Mississippi River (cities usually joined by their own accord.) The U.S government has been unable to stop the insurgency because of their guerrilla tactics, ruralness of their home territory, lacking of support from civilians, army, and police, and lack of funding to do so. The Sons of Liberty also has a tight grip on cities, usually in control of most major organized crime groups and resistance cells that have penetrated deeply into the U.S Government. Now it is 2020, and they are preparing for a revolution.

I think you may misunderstand... The US is in a slow decline but still the superpower of the world and is getting better... I do not see a group gaining land like this anytime soon against the US military....

But still you have to consider the effects that the loss of California and Alaska (among other territory) have to do with the public support of the government. Right now (In real life) the Government is already hated by many people for it's stupidity and inefficiency. The reasons the Sons of Liberty has that much control is because they are seen as the shinier of two turds (the other being the U.S government.) You have to admit any country would be seen as incompetent if it can't even enforce control over it's territories.

ZATAK, let me put it this way. The SOL doesn't have any bases, any land, any tanks. It is a populist group powered by word of mouth (like social media.) Only the criminal/resistance part of it is a terrorist organization. Most of the group are just people who hate the U.S Gov. When I say the Sol "controls" the Great Plains, I just mean most of it's support is there. It has the largest amount of people sympathetic to the SOL, and so the SOL controls the area just because the people like them. The U.S still has control over the land, but they can't force people to change their minds, that would be violating freedom of speech.
