I think the only thing they avoid even revealing is that Japan isn't actually the most advanced nation available. Also, you gotta love that somehow
Only the Japanese had aerial recon over the Hakone Mountain Night Battle. I mean, seriously, that's the US's biggest thing and I don't care how dark the operation is, there is by no means going to be zero recon done ever before any operation. That's why we have SIGINT and SIGINT operations.

Seriously, that's the only thing that bothers me about the anime. Then again, that's the case with all anime. Does anyone know of any anime that don't actively Japan-wank?

The anime gets tolerance cred for respecting the fact that there's a language barrier at first and for actually making me sick to the stomach with all that pointless slaughter that's not passed off as purely awesome.

I'd say we don't go down the road of who wanks on what topic in this happy thread and just carry on acting all anime.

I was going to write the obligatory 'we do not!' post, but then I realized you had a point. We do America wank a lot, but we also try to incorporate other nations positively. Let's take a look at some more dynamic media-franchises like CoD or Battlefield to an extent. How about Stargate: Universe/Atlantis. It's not so much that we don't use ourselves quite often, but it's that we try not to take all of the limelight anymore. American film has begun to realize it's gotta include more people in less villainous roles to stay ahead. When you just put down one nation being good and the rest being bad or in it for their own purposes and likewise dismiss them as such like GATE, you risk upsetting people. Why do you upset them? Because you've offended them.

I'm just going to move on from that point though. In short, git real. In other words, looking forward to seeing the end of 'Actually, I Am'. anyone else? How about Charlotte (where we finally learned the show's god-damned namesake)?

The Wind Rises? Miyazaki works in general (whenever they touch politics) tend to avoid the wank. It has to do with him being a sympathizer of the Japanese left wing, which is much less into historical revisionism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_COLDFEET

On 28 May 1962, a converted CIA B-17 Flying Fortress 44-85531, registered as N809Z,[3] piloted by Connie Seigrist and Douglas Price dropped both men by parachute on NP 8. On 1 June, Seigrist and Price returned and a pick-up was made of the Soviet equipment that had been gathered and of both men, using a Fulton Skyhook system installed on the B-17.

Good God CIA.

Gate, overall, is a decent shot in the dark towards a generally unknown, undeveloped genre (Fantasy/Sci-Fi). Its Elder Scrolls meets Modern Warfare, and I love it for that. It got right what Legendary, got wrong. And while it seeths an aura of Japan-waking, I find it hilarious instead of offensive. All respect to the JSDF, but only in anime could they ever rate with other militaries.

Finished watching Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Gotta say, that is probably one of the very few shows I'd ever give a 10/10.

Actually, I preferred the original end. It was much more philosophical and abstract. Although it was nice to get a more conclusive ending.

Someone who agrees with me about the original Eva ending!

I've never actually watched 'End...', and probably never will, for precisely that reason. I really liked the ending of the series and prefer the absolute clusterfuck it turns into to some sort of concrete conclusion to the 'story'. I mean, lets face it, remove the character-philosophy show-and-tell and it's essentially generic giant robot anime plotline #2B. Ending the series with...character-philosophy show-and-tell is rather appropriate.
