Name of Corporation: The West Indies Chartered Corporation (WICC)
CEO: Michael Rickman
Number of Employees: 40,000 regular employees, 200,000 workers and laborers, 80,000 Private Military Contractors, 8,000 security personnel
Product(s) or Service(s) sold: Weaponry, PMC services, construction, trading
Countries and/or Locations of Operations: All of South and Central America as well as the Caribbean
Purpose or Goals of Company: To dominate all matters of business in the southern region of the Americas. Owns Haiti, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
History of Company: The British West India Company was founded in 1601 with its headquarters in the colonial city of Bel Air. Quickly becoming an influential company in the West Indies, it soon overtook all other companies of the same name and even continued to exist with a different name. The company fully broke off from British rule and to a mainly Platan controlled company in the 1700s, when Argentina became independent from English colonial control. Taking over Haiti and Jamaica in the early 1810s, the company was suspiciously viewed by European colonial powers and American states alike for its brutal practices of exploiting the native population. WICC bought out Trinidad and Tobago later. It would come to profit greatly off of the natural reserves of resources there. Now, it's a powerful corporation which still isn't honest nor fully clear of corruption.

Economy: Under the pretense of "market socialism, the Federal Socialist Republic practices State Capitalism. In this system, there is a private sector but it is dominated and controlled by the state-owned sector through a free price system. From this, huge financial markets have sprang up under the states' control, giving the nation a means to provide all citizens with basic income. The system works by having the revenues and dividends of the state-run organizations go toward the payment of this basic income for all citizens. It is equally distributed, allowing for each person to retain the maximum of their labor. However, this is not their earned income, which comes from their actual jobs and labor - this payment can be considered "extra" spending money for some, and much-needed livelihoods for others. Leechers on this system face social stigma and discrimination if they are able-bodied yet refuse to work for their share. In many ways, the economic system of FSR India is similar to capitalism with a heavy-handed socialist government rather than true Communism. Agriculture, Industry, and Service all co-mingle, with heavy investments across the board rather than focusing on a single side.

History of your Nation:
The history of India is full of struggle, success, and failure alike. Coming under the boot of colonialism in the late 1700s to early 1800s, India was once more united under a sovereign power thousands of miles away from her shores - Britain. The British set about plundering the land, but in the process, developed India's infrastructure and capability to industrialize far more than what was realized in OTL. India was not without her suffering and Mutinies, however, and time and time again Her Majesty's soldiers fired upon our brothers while he simply stood by in powerless shock.

India was developing, but under the direction of the British instead of her native interests. Things seemed without hope, without cause to end, until a man known as Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi returned from British South Africa with the ideals of the Second International and witnessing first-hand the discrimination faced by Indians and Africans alike. He returned to India in 1915 and assumed leadership of the Indian National Congress shortly thereafter, shifting it's focus and drive toward a more socialist and communist vision for India. His moderate policies and world-famous non-violence stirred up political support for his efforts, attractiveness Muslims and Hindus alike to the Congress. However, the old leadership of the INC prior to Gandhi became concerned that he was taking things too quickly and marginalizing them, many Indians knowing of Gandhi but not the Congress. In 1925, the INC expelled Gandhi from their ranks, much to the shock of newer members and Indians alike.

Undeterred, Gandhi quickly formed the Communist Party of India with close supporters and launched an electoral war against the Congress. Facing draining membership and horrific backlash, the INC lost a majority of it's local elections to the CPI. The British, however, refused to recognize communist governments within India, and barred them from electoral victory. Distraught, Gandhi instead began to work with other independence-minded and special interest groups, becoming acquainted with and a companion of Muhammad Ali Jinnah of the Muslim League. Together, the two compatriots began to spread their influence and ingrain it within Indian society, threatening and challenging the status quo enforced by the British. Now, how Jinnah managed to connect his Muslim ideology with Communism is beyond anyone's imagination, but he quickly became in favor of it as a means to ensure security for Islam in India. The British were appalled at such a thought, intending to delay any negotiations with Indian leadership if it meant talking with the Communists and their allies.

Throughout the 1930s, India became a hotbed of tension as the Communists demanded free elections and independence - a majority of Indians regardless of race or religion becoming Communist or at least Communist-supporting. A nerfarious plot began to develop, however, singling out Gandhi as the main conspirator behind these demands. Refusing to violently confront the British and give them an excuse to stamp out the flames of Communism in their jewel of the Crown, Gandhi had to be eliminated. An assassination plot developed between the Governor-General at the time and several disgruntled members of the defunct Indian National Congress - to be carried out in early 1938. On the morning of January 30th, 1938, Nathuram Godse - a former INC member and noted Hindu nationalist, approached Gandhi as he was on his way to address a prayer meeting, firing three shots into Bapu's chest at point-blank range.

There was no calm, no silence following his death, only anger and rage. Riots began almost immediately, Godse finding refuge in the government's housing, but this was a fatal flaw. It linked Godse with the British, and emboldened millions to take to the streets. Armed with their fury, not even God could save the King from such a mess India had become seemingly overnight. Jinnah attempted to keep a hold on the violence, knowing that Gandhi would not tolerate it, but it was in vain. Jinnah was disposed of by radical members of the Communist Party who felt the time for nonviolence to be over. An armed struggle, a revolution, exploded across the sub-continent. Weapons were in quick supply as raids on armories and caches captured supplies and materials, but the British forces within India stuck to the defensive, suffering major casualties and inflicting heavier ones...but the waves just never stopped.

Finally, a voice of reason came forth, an address by the King himself. Rather than scolding, diminishing the efforts of the Indians, he announced an emergency conference at Delhi - it's topic would solely revolve around independence. The revolution stops for no man, the countryside still ablaze with fervor and bloodshed as Delhi became a solemn reminder of what has been lost. The leadership of of the post-Gandhi was spearheaded by Akhil Parth Bachchan, a rational, logical man whose influence was paramount to the Communist Party's success. Negotiations lasted for a mere three days, Bachchan forming a deal where the British are allowed to leave unmolested - and India is set free on January 30th, 1939 - a powerful date to choose.

The defeat of the British politically did not sting them - it allowed them to save face rather than commit to a ground assault against millions of pissed off Indians. However, a major challenge was brewing in the form of organizing a government as the Communists prepared to take executive power. Many early policies and measures to keep the government afloat happened thanks to Bachchan and his political elite - forming the first series of Five Year Plans for the newly inaugurated Socialist Federal Republic of India, beginning in 1940. It's priorities were set at social measures and economic progress with advice from technical experts, economists, and financial experts. Bachchan was instrumental in forming "realpolitik communism", in which the government worked and operated based on how events were instead of inflating numbers to feel better about itself - even going so far as to recognize that the Communists Party line did not have the expertise to form economic laws, and so hired those who did to guide them.

Under Bachchan, India was left to it's lonesome. No nations desired contact with a "rogue" Communist nation, so development had to come from within. The first steps to such development was education, and Bachchan developed a revolutionary way to educate the poor masses while hiring on millions of teachers and building hundreds of schools: radio. Many households in India possessed some form of radio communication thanks to the British, and those that did not had radio speakers in their villages. For 8-hours a day, the Ministry of Education played mathematics, language, and other elementary-level shows in order to prepare the school-age children for classes as schools were built.

Across the nation, major projects for infrastructure and land development were undertaken. Railroads, roads, waterways, canals, shipping ports, airports, everything feasibly possible under the sun was under construction at deficient spending - the government was preparing to spend it's way into economic prosperity under a "Communist" system. Bachchan even authorized the construction of a centralized capital within India by the name of Raj - building from the existing city of Nagour to do so. However, corruption made many of these projects impossible to complete, and the death of Bachchan in 1949 gave more worries as to what India would become without a logical, rational thinker. Rising to the Presidency following Bachchan's passing, Jeetendra Kalyan Patil became a rather unnoteworthy leader. A moderate, he tended to go with the flow of things, despite the stagnation that was occurring in stark contrast to the rapid growth and expansion of 1939-1949.

The only major accomplishment of Patil, however, was the formation of the Censorate as a secretive government entity. The Censorate's duties were to curb corruption's stranglehold on the new nation as non-elected government agents who were selected from the military via lottery. They were able to bring huge amounts of party members to justice for their crimes against the people, however, it would soon come back to bite Patil as he too was brought forward on corruption charges. A constitutional crisis occurred, where it was debated on if the sitting executive can indeed be tried for crimes. Rather than face a judge and jury, Patil resigned in 1954. As no one was in a position to succeed Patil as Party leader, a general vote was called on all citizens to elect a new leader.

A strong, young candidate eventually secured the Presidency of the FSR with 64% of the vote. Kiran Nitin Kaur, a idealist who entered politics in the last years of Bachchan's regime but moved his way up to top position within merely five years, he resumed many projects once-thought abandoned by the party leadership, causing some of the largest economic expansion in national history as he put millions upon millions to work, mechanized and revolutionized agriculture in his long, stable reign. However, the decades of prosperity came crashing down in 1971 as the market contracted, popping the bubble India had been riding since 1954. Overnight, jobs were lost, GDP plummeted by 10% in the next few months. Kaur made attempts to kickstart the economy once more, but the people demanded action. Kaur did as any leader would do in such a situation, and began a series of regional conflicts.

An invasion of Afghanistan commenced under the pretense of disarming anti-Communist terrorists, and then shifted to toppling the Afghan government for supporting said terrorists. From 1971 to 1973, it was known as the Silent War as media hardly reported or documented the conflict from either side. India succeeded in toppling a democratically elected government and installing a communist puppet in it's place, but plagued the Afghans with constant rebellions to expel the Communists. The war was costly, but provided for major developments in military hardware, especially as Red India began to enter into technological arms races with neighboring Iran and Thailand, spurring technological development and providing Kaur with a springboard back into economic growth. New technologies allowed for greater infrastructural projects and revitalizations, expanded connections and the development of India's rural interior. From 1975, economic growth picked up steadily, and for the first time, regime change was possible as Kaur enacted laws regarding succession, and freed the media from the state-run organization into a free, unbiased source of information free from the heavy hands of the government.

Kaur, nearing 67 in 1985, began to discuss retirement from the leadership, shaping up party lines so that the populace can elect his would-be successor with confidence. Another once-young soul, Kaur favored a man by the name of Shiva Vishnu Nirav, his two god-like names speaking wonders to the idealist Kaur on what direction Nirav would lead India. Stepping down from the Presidency in 1986, Kaur retired to his childhood home in Maharashtra - Nirav being summarily being elected to the Presidency without issue or major challenge.

Vowing to lead India into the next century as the superpower it has already become, Nirav has focused on social and economic development while advancing military technology instead of stockpiling it outright. India is currently riding it's largest economic expansion yet, averaging 10% growth rates in GDP from 1987 to 1990 with no signals of stopping. Many predict it's industrial capacity and coordinated, stable growth will lead to India becoming the premier world economy by the 2010s, but only time will tell if the nation can handle such a responsibility.

Whoa, I like it alot.

Thanks! I have to work early tomorrow morning, but I get off early as a result so I'll finish it then.

General history will be based on whoever colonised the territory (Britannia), however, the Muslim Brotherhood does not call for partition and religious tensions provide for a climate where socialism/communism developed and thrived. Independence is achieved in the late 30s, and the Indian Communists win the first national elections. Communism becomes the bridge of unity for Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists as the government strictly enforces a secular public sector.

I must not let this happen. The coalition of the willing will go in with the battalion of trained mine-clearing monkeys and eradicate the IRA.
