Well yeah I guess since most of those states are puppets of Sparta. However, once Sparta strengthens her grip on the Peloponnesian League, those puny rebels shall be rooted out and executed

Crete has a decent navy, and most pirates in the Aegean are Cretans. They've not been Hellenized yet, but will in the 2nd century BCE be Hellenic. For now, they're still Minoan, hence the "Cretan" culture on the map.

Ah, so suppressing piracy will hurt Crete. Crete is probably going to go under the knife soon then, since the Ptolemaics/Rhodes/Seleucids are all interested in securing trade routes.

Well, they're pirates, not privateers. It is simply the naval nature of Crete that so many pirates come from it.

The fact that Cretan archers are famous shows you they're not Greek, since Greeks mostly use archery for hunting and not warfare.

Indeed. But the pirates provide a flow of wealth to Crete regardless of their sponsorship by the formal government; a decrease in piracy will effect the prosperity of the isle, unless the security of trade makes up the difference.

I'll start with Ebdani already hating me, and slowly becoming more aggressive (fishermen's boats stolen, troops in their capital which is right on my border (oh shit I might be able to kill their Provincial King if I take their capital in a war quickly) anyway) and we eventually (within a couple posts) descend into war.

I should win due to my higher population and stronger economy, plus I have access to the britons and Gauls in ways they don't. But it could take awhile.

We're allowed to suggest our own modifiers, as long as we tag them with 202. You can app regardless of modifiers, and Alouite will approve them once he gets on or not.

Cretan clothes are NSFW. You should seriously consider joining the Etruscan (soon to be Tyrsenian) League though. Protection, combined might, trade rights (Etruria has very strong trade), and as the "motherland" of sorts of the Etruscans you get special position <3

I think it's funny because if you've seen Minoan clothing, it looks like they're actively trying to expose themselves, like a Minoan dress has a collar that sticks like a conventional collar then dips way down and comes back up.

No, Crete gets put on a pedestal for being the ancestral homeland. The Etruscan League is a gathering of relatively autonomous states, each one with a consistent dynasty. My queen is willing to let you be a separate nation in all but name should it come down to it, though she was excited to move her residence to Knossos.

Your lands are the envy of all Etruria. Our close cultural connections have made many consider your joining our league. I, personally, must say that your membership within our league would be most desirable. Before you turn away, I ask you to consider the following factors: You will not lose independence. In fact, you will truly become stronger than ever. Our government is based on a yearly election, and the prestige your name carries among us would undoubtedly give you special consideration. Not only this, but you will be considered of the utmost important among our allies, and you will have practically free trade among our lands. There is a near endless benefit to be gained from joining the Etruscan League, and next to nothing is lost. I beg you consider.

That was the letter she sent

It just seems a bit silly, though it does make sense. Etruscans actually shared quite a few fashions, but with more jewels and more coverage. Though, in Etruscan society it was just as casual to see someone naked, so that tells you something right there.

Sort of. They're descended from Minoans, and Cretans are too. Think of Minoans as being like the Romans, Etruscans as Spaniards, and Cretans as Italians. Not the best analogy, since Etruscans and Cretans are more closely related, but it still carries the point, I think.

Please fill out the Currency selection, and you don't need the historical ruler. You can create your own.
