If I was you, I would go raid the Britons. Plenty of slaves and loot to be had there, and far less attrition to deal with.

I'm quite aware of Etruscan mores, but I can't say I've noticed any instances of political leadership. Etruscans were scandalous in comparison to their counterparts, because many could read and write; I wasn't aware that translated to political legitimacy though.

Then you most certainly don't want Crete.

For the time period, Crete is far from Greek. They're currently Eteocretan, the descendants of the Minoans and the latest stage of the Minoan type. Crete has yet to be truly Hellenized.

Crete has a decent navy, and most pirates in the Aegean are Cretans. They've not been Hellenized yet, but will in the 2nd century BCE be Hellenic. For now, they're still Minoan, hence the "Cretan" culture on the map.
