This will be a Vietnam War role play focussing on a single fictional combat operation involving the also fictional US Army's 111th Mechanized Infantry Regiment. Players will take the roles of officers and enlisted men in this unit during the combat op.

No controlling other player characters
You CAN control NPCs
You may post about enemy casualties as the enemies are all NPCs. This would normally be banned in a PvP RP.
No super soldiering
Be as detailed and post as well as you can
You can apply for NVA if you really want but don't expect to win

History/Description: (He was a ninja who time travelled from feudal Japan to the Vietnam war or whatever)

Situation: A major high way (designated Highway 12) has been cut off by a recent attack from NVA forces. 111th Mechanized Infantry Regiment along with a batterie of M102 Howitzers from the 55th Field Artillery Regiment. So far Division command believes there is a single NVA battalion operating in the area, most likely from the 73rd People's Rifles Regiment but this is unconfirmed and so far only a single company strength unit has been spotted.

We are equipped with enough M113 APCs to transport the entire regiment into battle so travel time should not be an issue. The assorted machine guns they carry will bolster total fire power as well, bringing heavy machine guns close in. Artillery support and some air assets will be available to company and battalion commanders though expect delays as heavy fighting takes place to the north.

Colonel Adam North is designated "Sunray", M102 Artillery Captain is designated "Shelldrake". Company and battalion commanders may designated their own call signs as they deem fit. Battalions will remain using the over all Alpha, Bravo, Charlie designations but individual COs will choose a designation that refers to them alone.

History/Description: Nathan was born 25 years ago in London Ontario Canada but grew up in Babbitt Minnesota the some of two Danish immagrents who fled their homeland for Canada just after the Nazi Invasion of Denmark. His parents moved from Canada to the United States for economic opportunity where his dad bought 40 aches of land and started a small dairy farm that supplied produce to the town of Babbitt and most of St. Louis County Minnesota in which time the family became naturalized U.S. citizens. He grew up helping around the farm and was always tasked with the job of getting rid of Coyotes and the like from the far grounds using his dad's Gevær M/89 rifle left over from his time in the Danish Army.

Right around the time the Vietnam war started Nathan had become board with his life in town, so around the time draft started and the military efforts really started to intensify Nathan made his way to Duluth were he enlisted in the Marien Corps much to the dismay of his father who had fought for the Whites as a volunteer during the Finnish Civil War and later against the Germans as a member of the Danish Army. While mother and father were opposed to the idea they felt that it was there sons choice and wished him the best of luck as he headed of to basic training.

Basic was more or less a cake walk for him if you could describe it that way. He was already in great physical condition and felt it easy to work with the M14 rifle and gradual obtain his rifle marksmen, he loved the feel of the rifle and even when the top brass switched over to the M16 he couldn't let go of the wooden beauty. After graduating from basic with high but not distigueshed marks he was shipped out to the 111th Mechanized Infantry Regiment to South East Asia.

Unwilling to take over the family business, he joined the U.S. Army when he was 18 years old and quickly became a respected officer and soldier. Promoted a remarkable amount of times even though his age was lower than the average, an unfortunate accident when Foster's love of explosions and mass destruction was being considered for promotion to captain nearly got him passed over for promotion if it wasn't for the intervention of a Major that saved his military career. Frequently at odds with his superiors, he does wish to remain in the field with his men and lead them from the front. When he arrived at Vietnam, Foster took a BAR rifle from the armory that was meant to be given to ARVN troops because he heard of it from old WW2 movies and liked it.

Other officers think of Foster as weird and unfit to lead a unit, as evidenced by his insistence on wearing a gas mask and gloves at all times and never removing his clothes, but people who've served under his command know that he's actually a very funny person and a very calm CO, sometimes chewing out sergeants for being too brutal to their soldiers. People have nicknamed him Jester at times and the name stuck.

So o have a question regarding tech, can we along side common place weapons use less common weapons that would ether not have been as used my out forces (like soviet and Warsaw pact weapons) or less common western weapons (Stoner 63, G3, AR-10) and the like?

I would prefer to keep it as realistic as possible but I don't want that cutting into fun, especially when all it is is a name. I suppose you could use common ones, G3, L1A1. But don't go with really obscure ones or things that were never in the war. Also numerous friendly fire incidents were caused by firing enemy weapons. Often soldiers fired towards the flash, recognizing the unique sound of M16 vs AK firing and accidentally killing a friendly using an enemy weapon.

So keep it fairly sane, don't go using barrel magazine fed PPSH-41 with silencer and laser sight or an MG3. Keep it sane is all
