You've answered my question with a question. As much as I would like to simply refute with a question as well, I would like to consider debate more sound.

And I can give you an example of the Gold Cloaks seizing control of the city--recall, if you will, the Dance of the Dragons, in which King's Landing fell to Rhaenyra because of Daemon's influence in the Gold Cloaks. Presumably any ships that were docked in King's Landing were taken by the Gold Cloaks, as Corlys Velaryon sailed his fleet into the Blackwater unopposed. Further, there is no mention of Rhaenyra flying Syrax down to assail 9,500 sailors assailing Gold Cloaks come to take the fleet.

Enough. We and just going to say 500 men can control 9,500, 110 ships, and a harbor. End of discussion.

How I want? No, it's not how I want. But I'm not going to argue a point if its going to be that much of an issue. I conceded, and don't get anything back, and that's fine I guess

Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Nuxipal » Fri Mar 20, 2015 9:10 pm

After reading everything, and after the day at work I just had (not including the break I spent reading through this argument which was the most peaceful thing I did today) I have come to determine one thing:

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

You want me to tell you that a navy(whose sailors quite possibly DON'T live in Kings Landing, or don't have a home at all, are not on their ships? Or that they are incapable of fighting, when there will be some of them that do just that: Fight. Is beyond insane. The gold cloaks are not an army. Not even CLOSE to an army. As previously stated, not all would be participating because it is treason and there are many men with Morals.

Additionally, we determined previously that the Master of Whisperers would indeed have some idea that something was taking place. Thus, he and the Targaryens in Kings Landing would be on edge. Fighting would mean that they would become less confused, not more confused.

Final point, I am not going to have ANY player lose the majority of their house simply because a few players decided that they were going to have a coup happen the day after the Queen died. A coup with that much advanced warning will not have everything accomplished perfectly. The major thing that Givious has go wrong against the coup is the harbor incident. Now, yes: the harbor chain's wench being broken with just a few swings is completely irrational, but so is the thought that some Gold Cloaks are going to get wildfire. I ignored those TGs because it was completely unreal to think that Daenerys would keep wildfire in the city. We remember the last time a Targaryen did that... keep that fire god shenanigans to the Stormlands where it belongs.

Verdict: The post stands most as is. The Sailors are more than capable of overwhelming 500 city watchmen. They aren't soldiers, they have historically run from battle repeatedly. If you have a problem with ships having sailors who are loyal to their liege lords, I'll remember that the next time you sail your fleets outside the sight of a port. The chain's wench is not broken, however the fleet managed to get through before the Chain was able to be raised. The rest of the post stands as is. Davos is captured, he was stupid enough to be too deep too late.

On a personal note, I now have to go back and edit one of my own posts because it is the arrival of a pair of characters on day 2, however, a fleet of ships leaving the harbor, and the chain being raised will be a warning sign that the city is not safe and the ship will turn around.

Questions/Concerns/Complaints TG me. I guarantee no response to any of these as this argument was extremely childish and not what I expect. I now have to seriously reconsider who I will CHOOSE as Co-OPs. Remember, Givious was chosen by you, the roleplayers.

Elepis wrote:House Name:(Example: House Lannister, House Tully, House Martell, etc..) Elaria of Braavos

House Sigil:(Images would be useful) crimson galleass on an azure field

Head of House: (Background information required)
Nicolai Elaria, aged 48:
The son of the wealthy trader Illian Elaria, Nicolai grew up expecting to take over his father’s large business. As such, Nicolai was tutored in finances, maths, and philosophy from an early age. At the age of 13 he started work in the "front of shop" side of the business, taking jobs as clerks and even a period as a sailor on one of the great trade ships. As the years progressed he moved up the hierarchy of his father's businesses taking jobs like accountant and chief of personnel for a year or so. Thus, Nicolai knew every part of the business and when at the age of 85 his father retired, the 35 year old Nicolai managed the business efficiently, eventually becoming one of the most respected and at the same time feared men in Braavos.

At the age of 38, Nicolai joined the “Dragon” party of Braavos, as was expected of men of the Elaria trading dynasty. Using a mixture of his natural statesmanship and underhand tactics such as black mail and bribery, Nicolai soon rose to prominence in the party. When riots hit Braavos the 40 year old Nicolai played a major role in putting them down, by both reasoning with the rioters and dividing them, he managed to quash the discontent without the massive bloodshed expected by many. By the age of 43, Nicolai was deputy master of trade of the city of Braavos and friends with the incumbent Sealord.

At the age of 46, Nicolai was elected as Sealord of Braavos. Thanks to developments in the building of Galleasses, sponsored by Nicolai, it soon became easier and quicker to reach the fabled far eastern and southern trade posts such as Yi-Ti, Assahi and Naath. While Braavosi ships had ventured to these lands before, the improvements in galleass deign trade to these destinations has increased. The Elaria fleet was the first trading fleet to utilise the development and thus Nicolai’s personal fortune increased markedly.
However, Nicolai has also made Braavos a better place to live. Thanks to the revenue brought in from the new trade, Nicolai was able to sanction to building of a new sweet water river. This second aqueduct is nearing completion and will provide fresh water for a series of new fountains which will be placed in poorer neighbourhoods to limit out breaks of disease such as the cholera which ravaged poor areas of the city the year before Nicolai was born.

Relevant House Members: (Quick overview of character required)
Daughter: Razela Elaria, aged 17: 5'8, short, wavy brunette hair down to her shoulders, bright grey eyes, slim body with a medium sized bust. Razela is a clever girl and the daughter of the Sealord. She has spent most of her life in extreme luxury but has also spent a good deal of time since she was 14 helping out with her father business like Nicolai did at her age. Her mother died when she was 5 years old and has thus been raised by her father who loves her greatly. She is deeply involved in the Elaria trading company and helped mastermind the new use of the new Galleasse

Son: Rodrigo Elaria, aged 15: 5'6, longish blond hair, green eyes, slim body. Rodrigo is a clever boy and the first born son of the Sealord. As such he is heir to his father's business. Like his father and sister before him. Rodrigo has a very good education and is working in his father business. He will soon captain one of three Galleys bound for Pentos. He never new his mother and has been raised by his father and sister.

Other Household Members: (Example: Aero Hotah for House Martell, Hodor for House Stark)

Lorenca Lazzio: First Sword of Braavos, 5'7ft, 35 years old, blue eyes and close friend of the Sea lord. Weapons: Rapier and three daggers

Geoffra Sofrzie: Keyholder of the Iron Bank, 5'8, 50 years old, green eyes

Nika Theodoca: Grand Admiral: 5'6, 45 years old, green eyes , veteran commander

Sela Tanaea: Commodore: 2nd in command of the Elaria family trade fleet

House Seat: Braavos

House Faith: (Keep this tied to the established Canon as much as possible.) R'hllor

Sworn Houses: (Again, keep tied to Canon as much as possible.) N/A

House Strength: (Number of soldiers possessed by your house and Number of Ships. This is strictly kept to canonical levels)
Braavos:
15,000 soldiers: 13,000 infantry, 2,000 horse
850 ships

Elaria Family:
80 trade ships
71 personal guards

House History over the past 50 Years: (What happened since the Second Long Night)

. 302: End of the long night. The long night did effect Braavos but to a much smaller degree than Westeros. As Braavos is bordered to the north by Ocean, the secret city could not be touched by white walkers. However, there was a famine in the city which claimed the lives of 1,000 people. The Iron Bank did benefit however as the Westrosi lords were forced to take out loans from the bank to fund the rebuilding of the country after years of war.

. 303: 5 Braavosi Galleasses sail past Assahi, they have not yet returned.

. 304: Cholera ravages the city of Braavos, all neighborhoods are effected but the poor suffer the most. Over one year of cholera, 3,000 people die, including the incumbent Sealord

. 305: Nicolai Elaria born

. The Harvest Prince of Lorath marries the sister of the incumbent Sealord in Braavos. The city celebrates and free food is provided to the poor for 3 weeks while the Prince is in Braavos.

. 325: Pentos begins to plot against Braavos, the Iron Bank forces the Pentoshi to pay the large loans and cripples Pentos before it can harm Braavos. The incumbent Sealord engineers the downfall of the Prince of Pentos who is executed and replaced by a more pro-Braavos Prince.

. 348: Riots hit Braavos, almost 2,000 poor folk march on the Sealords palace, the Sealord orders marines from the ships to protect him but it will take hours for them to reach the palace. Wealthy merchant and the Sealord's apparatchik, Nicolai Elaria rides out to meet them, mere meters away from the palace. After managing to conceive the rioters the palace is garrisoned by 500 men as opposed to the 100 actually there he persuades them to disband.

. 351: Nicolai Elaria elected Sealord

So considering the coup (also lol at this size of a coup being organized and launched in one day), is the High Septon still in King's Landing or has he relocated to the Starry Sept in Oldtown.

No King, the timeline isn't set at 1 day or 4. Its set based on characters, which is why I have to go back and edit one of mine. I was fool enough to think that the Kings Landing situation was stable enough to get a character to arrive on Day 2. My bad. However....

You might want to wait before you change your post about your ship coming to King's Landing Nux, my next IC post will explain why, that harbor chain isn't staying up for long. But it's up to you in the end.

Slak, you'll soon get a message from Stannis requesting the assistance of the Tarlys, the Hightowers will be receiving one too. I couldn't write it into my current post right now but I'll get to it as soon as I can. Figured I'd let you know.

Also, recall that Jaime is to be having a chat with Tytos as they ride for Deep Den, or when they arrive. It's your discretion, I really don't care.

Speaking of Jaime at Deep Den, I have a question of logistics for OOC. Here is what's going down in the West:

-Jaime, on the night of 2DFD, sent several ravens to his lords, ordering them to send 500 mounted men to Deep Den within three days; I imagine Jaime would wait until 6 or 7DFD before riding. At this point, how many men would he have? For simplicity, we'll say him having all of them would be 10,000 men, including his own.
-Also, once Jaime leaves Deep Den, he's going to ride hard for King's Landing. About how long will it take him to arrive, from Deep Den, riding as hard as horses will allow?

"Krugmar - Today at 10:00 PM
Not sure that'll work on Elepis considering he dislikes (from what I've observed):
A: Nationalism
B: Religion being taken seriously
C: The Irish"

I'd say it would take about a week since Nux laid out a walltofell hard ride is one week and a marching army is two weeks. Since you have an army marching it'll be about a week I estimate.

Also, side note, I find it funny how Ser Davos, who has nothing to do with the plot and is the only Baratheon loyal to Aerion is the one who's been wrongfully accused and about to be thrown from the top of the holdfast.
