Ten million could be born, you'd still have two million dead in a pointless conflict.
These aren't fucking numbers, they're people. A war in which one person dies is a tragedy in and of itself, never mind a million.

Would not surprise me if it happened the same way here. Would not surprise me if the Germans wanted his head in exchange for their dead sons, husbands, brothers, fathers etc.The imperial canadian dutchy wrote:*shrug* It's war, people die, They die for their country so they die for a glorious thing.
Considering the reason for the Great War was entirely bullshit, I do not now how many Germans, Italians, Russians, Frenchies, British, etc. would agree.

Except you know even when they lost, The Kaiser was still seen as a symbol of German Conservatism and many actually disliked the Republic...

Except that in this TL :1848: happened so the only people who still like the Kaiser are Junkers in moth-eaten uniforms, most of who were slaughtered in the Eastern Front

Except when they lost, the Germans still wanted him back from the Dutch and the Dutch refused to return him.
And now that they won, the Germans want him back and the Dutch are refusing to return him.
He was also seen as a symbol of German unity, nationalism, etc, by Hitler and the Nazis. Soooo I mean

He also despised the Nazi's and demanded they have nothing to do with his funeral, he called his own grandson a lost cause when he supported the Kristaalnacht

Indeed he did, but that does not dismiss the fact that the Nazis viewed him as a symbol of German nationalism, used him to try and claim their validity as the Third Reich, and then still showed up to his funeral with their flags and banners everywhere - despite his own wishes.
Basically, regardless of what the Kaiser wanted, he was still viewed and treated as such by the Nazis. So I mean really, his whole symbolism is a tad sketchy.

Does not entirely surprise me in all honesty.
I mean unity and nationalism is really the only reason countries keep their monarchs around. Besides, after losing a war you need something to keep up nationalism and unity - a monarch is usually good at that.
However, Wilhelm was just an unfortunate idiot in a very powerful position. I dunno if the monarchy could have been saved because of him. Sorta like Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. If they both abdicated much sooner, perhaps their heirs would have been able to carry on their House. But no people are dense af.
I MEAN WE COULD HAVE HAD A GAY KING OF ITALY WHAT THE HELL MAN. /rageover

Not at all. I don't control the Italian Royal family after all. The Socialist Government will just be kind of annoyed that they can't get their hands on the Savoy family.
