Lucas Blixsen

"Yes I have," Lucas replied and raised up the cup in his left hand, "I'm sorry, I thought this was my table and took it. So yeah, sorry about that. So was it yours or your friend's cup?"

He offered an apologetic smile and set the stolen cup back on the table and said, "I'm Lucas by the way." He casually put his hands in his pocket glanced at the others in the discussion. Both of the girls seemed pretty chill, but this other guy, he was definitely a bit uncomfortable with the with the whole situation.

The girl who he overheard was named Hannah spoke a little oddly and she had a somewhat reserved persona which reminded him of a certain member of his team that didn't often express a lot of emotions. However, there was a bit more formality to Hannah than Mentari usually used. The other girl, Ashley right? She was like a polar opposite, carefree and informal.

"So what team are you guys apart of?" He asked out of general curiosity.

"Yes, I do remember when your father and mine met." Savannah replied with a wistful smile, remembering the reclusive girl and her avoidance of conversations or confrontation. It likely miffed the adults that wished to talk with her, but that was never her concern.

When Mentari wished her good fortune, her smile remained as it was, but she gave a quiet dip of the head. "Thank you, Mentari. I'm looking forward to training at Beacon.. I have to say, Vale really is a breath of fresh air from Atlas. It seems much more serene here.." She craned her head off momentarily into the distance, staring at the decorated top of a column within the ballroom for a few seconds before returning.

"So, how is it like here at Beacon?" Savannah continued, tilting her head. "Are the teachers good? And your team, as well?" She inquired. "What should I expect here, do you think?"

"Everything is swell," Mentari said, finally reaching for the punch bowl, her plate filled with eclairs and an assortment of other snacks, "Chemical is nice, though we are lacking in teamwork, most notably considering that others have already done more than we have. As for our mentors, I cannot say that there is one that I do not enjoy in terms of lectures. I can give you the recordings that I have compiled over the semester if you'd like." There was no hint of qualm in her voice, meaning that she did not at all regret coming to Beacon, instead of Atlas' own academy. In fact, it was nice to be away from the Atlesian life style. Calming, even.

"Expect a freedom you wouldn't find in the white halls of Atlas," was all that Mentari could say to Savannah's final question. What else could she, Vale lacked a bit in the way of discipline and overall education, but had something that she couldn't express well.

CCTS Tower, Beacon

The two figures had arrived in a similar fashion, their presence unannounced to those who were near the CCTS tower that night. One donned a dark blue dress that wouldn't be too dissimilar to the majority attending the dance nearby, while the other wore leather that didn't normally belong outside the bedroom. Despite the differences, both had a similar agenda for the night, and none would end it without having a sip of the chilled fruit juice within the school's ballroom.

"You're up," the leather-clad female said in a hushed whisper, vanishing from sight. The formally dressed girl nodded, tapping her temple a few times to make sure everything was fine.

Let's begin...

Cameras began to shut down, radio communications silenced one by one. Soon, the entire CCTS facility would be devoid of any protection, and only then could a mission truly be called a success. Smiling to herself, Purnama slowly made her way towards the ballroom, intent on enjoying herself while at work.

A beeping noise coming from Mentari's scroll surprised her, the girl holding both a plate and cup now. Shakily putting them down on the snack table once more, she quickly opened the device, which reported that there was something amiss with Beacon's CCTS tower.

"Oh this doesn't seem good..." she muttered, switching tabs to reveal her cyber defense software for the entire area around her. It was something she had installed herself, with permission from Ozpin so long as the old program would continue to run as a backup. Think of Mentari's as the front-line; the first wall to be broken. And now, there was something attempting to break in. So, with a few inputs of code, the 'hole' was fixed. A few moments later, another wound was inflicted to the program, only to be patched up once more. Strange...

As time grew, so did the amount of patches Mentari had to apply. It seemed that at every turn, there would be yet another to be found. She was starting to panic, barely able to keep up with all the dents that whoever had doing this was creating. How are they ripping it to bits?! I spent months on the coding!

Zimt Krasnyy

"Unfortunately some people didn't exactly approve of my career choice, decided to play politics with Haven's internals. Took them a while, got me thrown out. But I gave them the middle finger and headed over here instead. Wasn't going to let getting thrown out once keep me down when there's three other schools around."

“People not approving of a career choice? I’ll take a guess these weren’t students,” Zimt joked, though he felt like the topic was getting into those zones that just weren’t meant to be touched while at a party. Serious topics deserved serious places and this definitely wasn’t a serious place in any way, shape, or form. Besides, he didn’t want to remind her of the issues and problems she had; that would be simply rude. He wanted her to, rather, focus on the party (Even though such a thing didn’t seem to interest her).

“So, then, ah...if you aren’t liking this maybe we could go outside? Get some fresh air?”

"Well before we start answering questions, let's take a fine breather for the moment." Ashley proposed calmly yet deceptively annoyed, "I do believe that someone had owed me a drink already."

On the other hand, Hannah gave a momentary chuckle before making her own remark, which was set in motion to prematurely defused Ashley's chance of making accusations in regards to her stolen drink, "Now Ash, at least on the bright side, we both got drinks for the night."

Ashley somewhat agreed to Hannah's brief statement with a nod and humbly responding back, "Ah I take your point."

Then, as suddenly as Ashley had been agreeing to her girlfriend's insistence, Ashley's voice tone tuned back up to a normal noise volume when she threw back a counter, "But it does put us in a damned awkward position, being that these gentlemen are upholding guilt in something worth just a little nickel and dime."

"Ash, with all due respect, stop being so daunting. It's unconscionable at the moment." Hannah sternly yet sympathetically warned her friend, which acted as a soft metaphorical slap on the wrist, "I mean, it's good that you care, but for the lack of better words...let's just enjoy the company."

Then, with Ashley accepting an instant metaphorical defeat, Hannah turned her attention to Onyx and replied towards his question, "Now...uh, gentlemen, where...?"

As if on cue, Hannah realised what the question was being asked and immediately got to answering it like as if she was recalling the events of a military operation, "Oh yeah, our team. Well, let's just say that we've...pretty much been abandoned."

"More like disbanded is more like it." Ashley muttered to Hannah, with an audible voice tone evident in her speech despite the fact she was leaning near Hannah.

"That too, but that would be a little to forceful if I'm honest." Hannah admitted, all the while keeping her cool and continuing to add to her answer towards Onyx's question, "Our, uh, team...was dissolved before the opening weeks of the 2nd year semester, which was something not of our control at the time. You could say that our former team's dissolution was on Ozpin's part, but it wasn't him that pulled the strings either. As it turned out for the both of us, the families of our fellow comrades were not pleased with their grades, and it was unfortunately decided that they be relocated to a lesser academy."

At that moment, to add some mystery to the last bit of the answer, Hannah nodded her head slightly to the left as she completed her reply, "Maybe Signal, or elsewhere in the kingdom other than here."

"Like deportees." Ashley mumbled inaudibly, which did not go unnoticed to Hannah's feline cat ears (which were hidden underneath Hannah's hairband).

"Hmm?" Hannah slightly frowned, knowing clearly well she heard what Ashley said, but decided to play dumb anyways in order to bypass her cursing.

"Oh! Nothin'." Ashley nodded as well as apologising in the process.

Savannah Montaigne

Savannah, unlike her companion, stayed her hand from the heaps of sweets, instead deciding to wait for a later- and much more filling- meal, perhaps out in town. "I'm sure your team can improve, Mentari. We all come here to train, anyway." She looks off to the side, before returning her gaze to Mentari. "I'd love to catch up on any of the recordings you have. I'm here to be my best, after all.." She smiles as she listened to Mentari's final remarks, and quite shortly afterwards, her Scroll going off. Her attention piqued, as she looked over Mentari's shoulder as she muttered. "Mentari..?"

Mentari seemed to be scrambling to do something, immediately raising Savannah's concern. "Mentari, what is that..? Is something wrong?"

"Yeah, politics mostly. But hey, what's life if you don't make a few enemies along the way?" Layla shrugged. "It'd get boring otherwise, and I'm pretty sure I'm untouchable here on the other side of Remnant." She paused, considering her options, before she finally and somewhat hesitantly nodded her agreement.

"Yeah, some air sounds good right about now. It's getting a tiny bit stuffy in here. Lead the way."

Lucas Blixsen

Lucas simply smiled and chuckled a little at the dynamic between the two partners but quickly frowned at the thought that they had no team. That really sucks, while it was uncommon for teams to disband during their time at Beacon, it was even rarer for a transfer student to arrive in their second year of huntsman training, which meant these two were limited on their mission options or had to complement a full team on a mission. Lucas couldn't imagine being without a full team and having such limitations and said as much.

"That sucks," he said, downtrodden and empathetically, "unless you agree to team up with a pair of students from another year, new teams are hardly ever made. And then if you can even work together..." He trailed off, thinking on the sync, if you'd even call it that with his team.

He grinned and said, "I heard that there have been some transfer first-years without teams, I bet you guys could find some people you could sync with there and request a new team is formed."

"Speaking of team sync, I'm part of Team CMCL(chemical), you might have heard of us as Team Comical though," he said jokingly, "we have an interesting chemistry (no pun intended) and some notorious members like Chess the Overlord of the BUDP (Beacon's Union of Delinquents and Perverts (I think)) and Charlotte, who was one of the two who wrecked Professor Leika's classroom on the first day of classes."

Stormwrath wrote:Meanwhile Carmina had arrived at the punch bowl and picked up a cup, gobbling it down in a single go. That felt very refreshing. Before she could go, she spotted a lone velvet cake slice that was left on the table. "Man," she said to herself, "it would probably be a waste if no one picked that up. Well, just a bit more..."

Picking up a plate she was about to go to get it, but someone seemed to be frozen in line. She didn't seem to want to get it, but why was she standing there? "Ummm, Yamako?" Carmina tried to get her attention, but it was no use. "Yamako?"

She then tried waving her hand in front of her. "Hey, Remnant to Yamako? You alright or something? You seem spaced out. Anyways, can you please move? I-I kinda want that cake over there."

Silent Spark: Arc One
Yamako was half-listening to Carmina. Currently there were other things Yamako was thinking about. Primarily, a dapper young lad in a nice red suit who seemed more invested in a woman he could never woo. Yamako just wished she could just go talk to him, but something deep down kept her from doing so. Though she'd never admit it, she was afraid. Thoughts like 'What if he rejects me' and 'He'd never go out with me' ran through her head. She hated every aspect of it, and she felt like trying to talk to him would just end in a spectacular failure, adding another bad thing to her 'Bad Things That Happened Today List'. What she didn't realized is that Aiden would say yes if Yamako just asked. He started to see that he was failing trying to get with Blake. In fact, he was just going to ask her if she still had his copy of Der Einzige und sein Eigenthum (What a spook!) he lent her. Yamako didn't know this though, and was feeling sad.

Aiden quickly asked Blake about his copy, and quickly turned around. He did want to ask her onto a balcony to discuss other things, but that would wait until later in the night. For know, just getting confirmation on his thing was all he needed. He turned around and saw an interesting, if not humorous, sight. Carmina was trying to get Yamako's attention because of a sweet piece of cake. It seemed to Aiden like things could get out of hand real fast, so he was heading over there to attempt to defuse the situation. He didn't get far though, as a hand reached out from underneath the table and grabbed the cake. Or, was it a paw? Aiden couldn't really tell, as he didn't really look at it for long, but he would be surprised that Leika somehow not only brought her pet Ursa to the dance, but also managed to find a way to keep it alive without it killing someone. Either way, he felt like he needed to do something with Yamako, lest she go catatonic and collapse in front of everyone.

"Hey Yamako, may I have this dance?" Aiden asked, nearing her. Yamako just stared at Aiden. Yamako didn't know what to make of this scenario for a good 12 seconds, but finally she just smiled with the biggest smile she could muster, and hugged Aiden tightly, not caring for consequence. Aiden was at first shocked by this, but smiled and hugged back.

"Aiden?" Yamako asked, tears coming out of her eyes, lifting her head to look into Aiden's eyes.

"Yeah?" Aiden asked back, looking deeply into Yamako's eyes.

"You may have this dance." Yamako said smiling. Aiden smiled back and took Yamako to the center of the ballroom, ready to dance.

Fabi Filipov

"You guys ready?" Fabi asked a small group of mysterious individuals standing outside the slightly ajar double-doors.

"Da Fabi, we are ready to cream that silly pop band with our superior music." One of the mystery people said.

"Alright then, let's do this." Fabi said, leading a group of 5 Filipov tribe members onto the stage. They didn't care if they interrupted the current band or not, they were going to play their music. Walking over to the microphone, Fabi took it and took a deep breath.

"Alright, who's ready for something that isn't cheesy foreign pop?" Fabi said. His question was met with some sporadic support, and he smiled. He nodded at the other 5, who then began playing their Filipov Tribe Tradition instruments. The song began, and Fabi started to sing.

(Hey hey hey hey hey!)

There lived a certain man in Remnat long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Vacuo chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the Maidens like a preacher
Full of ecstasy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Vacuoan queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Rasputin
Remnant's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

He ruled the Vacuoan land and never mind the czar
But the cassock he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Vacouan queen
There was a cat that really was gone
Ra ra Rasputin
Remnant's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

But when his drinking and lusting and his hunger
For power became known to more and more people
The demands to do something about this outrageous
Man became louder and louder

(Hey hey hey hey hey!)

This man's just got to go, declared his enemies
But the ladies begged, don't you try to do it, please
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
Come to visit us they kept demanding
And he really came

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Vacouan queen
They put some poison into his wine
Ra ra Rasputin
Remnant's greatest love machine
He drank it all and said, I feel fine

Ra ra Rasputin
Lover of the Vacuoan queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
Ra ra Rasputin
Remnanat's greatest love machine
And so they shot him 'til he was dead

Oh, those Vacuoans

The dance consisted of squatting so low to the ground, that removing a leg from underneath you would destabilize you, then kick your legs from under you, much like a Can-Can. Hey only did that when the parts where the males in the group would chant hey, and the rest of the song was dance-acted with the female compatriot. Aiden and Taro watched this display, and just shook there head.

Oh, those Filipovs.

Zimt Krasnyy

"Yeah, some air sounds good right about now. It's getting a tiny bit stuffy in here. Lead the way."

Zimt got up, leaving his shrimp and drink. Leaving was rather rude to the hosts, but...if the choice was offending someone or some group in a vague way or offending someone in a personal way, he would much prefer the former to the latter. Besides, perhaps she was quite interesting. She seemed even...well, somewhat nice. At the least she was somewhat pretty, if not cute, and seemed to be rather lonely.

As the two left, the band started playing another song. Zimt watched for a bit, noting the cossack dance and briefly laughing at it. The man looked positively odd, out-of-place with the rest of the party and their finer, though not by a massive margin, clothing. The voice which previously sung strange foreign music now was saying something about a man named Rasputin and Zimt giggled to himself. He knew the original version of the song and it was a far cry different. They’d had another instrument, even.

And so, the two made their way through the crowd to the balcony door, closed from the breeze. Zimt opened it for her, letting her go first.

Ashley chuckled at Lucas's sympathy towards her and Hannah's situation of having no team for the 2nd year semester, and it was only to lighten the mood when she nonchalantly provided Lucas with some reassurance, "Well, good olde Oz had been busy fixin' a team for us in the meantime. But we can only believe that our names make for some... interestin' complications, or at least that's the problem."

"That and the fact that Ozpin has been tied down with quite a handful of work to sort out, especially for the upcoming Vytal tournament." Hannah added in an earnest yet informative attitude, with a slight lean towards Ashley.

Without saying a word, Ashley nodded her head before took a sip of her cup of Punch, all the while listening to Lucas trail off and eventually grinning, which gave Ashley and Hannah mixed yet minor reactions. Ashley remained mostly unfazed yet slightly amused by Lucas's grinning as he trailed off into speaking about team sync; however, Hannah retained a strong poker face that was typical of a seemingly cold-blooded soldier, but Ashley knew that this was typical of Hannah's personality. Even if Ashley and Hannah never came from the same background, it was only through friendship and insight in military life that Ashley knew that Hannah was not the kind of person who be flattered so easily by both genders.

"I think we're already in the process of gettin' a team if you're ask us again." Ashley happened to so remind Lucas when he mentioned in syncing with a team, but it was here that Lucas happened to mention his team that Ashley and Hannah's attentions were drawn with intrigue at their instant arsenals.

"Åh min..." Hannah mumbled with partial hesitance in her voice, and while carrying her accent in her words and trying surprisingly hard not to giggle, "We both heard how that happened...and Kære Gud, we can only wonder what happened to that girl after all that."

"At least she and the other fella wasn't dragged out into a field and shot like some miserable hound." Ashley morbidly yet sarcastically assured, with the slightest of her assassin persona seeping out.

Not surprisingly, Hannah could only look at Ashley with a simple glare that would have otherwise made a fresh conscript shudder as if his/her drill sergeant was humiliating and frightening them all at once. Of course, Ashley was no stranger to such a glare, but this particular stare that Hannah was giving her was equivalent to like someone picking up a gun and temping to pull the trigger only to kill a man from a thousand meters at any given moment. Though in order to prevent such a terrifying presence from getting out of hand from a thousand meter stare, Ashley could only let one word escape her lips with a mixture of a nonchalant and confused voice tone, "What?"

"Drengepige." Hannah growled as she broke the glare and turning away from Ashley while shaking her head in a humble expression of frustration and crossing her arms.

"I'm just sayin', B." Ashley shrugged her shoulders as if almost nothing happened from the morbid dialogue, "At least they were able to walk away with detention as well as some good olde fashion scoldin' to be done...at least from what I heard back then."

Ballroom

Seeing Carmina had returned to the table, Jackson raised his head and looked at her. She seemed to be a bit bothered by something, even though she already got a cup of fruit punch like she wanted. "Ummm," he spoke up nonchalantly, "Hey, what's wrong?"

She knew that this wasn't genuine concern that he showed. Jackson never gets concerned about anyone even when said someone felt something was bothering him/her inside. No wonder he couldn't fully sense that a certain member of the team had harbored feelings for him! "Well, Yamako seemed to be spacing out or something. Don't know why, but she seems fine now," she shrugged her shoulders, glancing at the girl now in Aiden's arms slowly moving side to side to the mellow music. "Guess women's moods change when they're with that special someone."

That was perhaps the cheesiest thing that she had ever said all day.

Carmina then turned her head and glanced at the baby Ursa grabbing more cake with its paws. Smiling she pointed her thumb at the direction of the table, "And that thing beat me to the cake. Damn that little shit."

"Heh," Jackson remarked. That thing had quite a voracious appetite, but he guessed that Grimm were like this all the time—how does Professor Leika seem to keep him in check? More importantly, was it alright for her to bring the little guy to a gathering of what is soon to be the next generation of Huntsmen and Huntresses? As far as he knew, even he could murder the juvenile with the fork in his hand now. Hopefully the teacher was paying attention to the whereabouts of her pet.

As Fabi and a bunch of cossacks came around and began doing their silly dance in the middle of Team STAR's performance, Carmina couldn't help but laugh and cheer at the sight. Finally, something that she could really enjoy watching! She guffawed, "Oh my god Fabi, what the hell are you doing?"

However, with him and his background dancers competing for attention with the band, the dance hall became rather noisy. The combination of guitar riffs, tapping shoes, and the cheers of hundreds of students constantly shifting their heads to watch the two groups of performers outperform each other coalesced together to create a sound that drowned out everything else. And Jackson didn't seem to like it. While Carmina's focus was fixed on the Filipov tribe's little stunt, he placed his fork down and stood up. Maybe that was enough eating for now. "Avena," Jackson raised his voice as he extended his hand to her, but it didn't seem to permeate the noise all around him. "Maybe we should find somewhere quieter, don't you think?"

---

There was one place that may perhaps offer a more peaceful ambiance than anywhere else in the dance hall. Jackson continued to hold Avena's hand as he led her up the stairs and onto the balcony above the rest of the ballroom. He then continued to take her towards a large pair of doors that revealed an open balcony. There wasn't any decoration around here, just a simple balcony with a marble rail with vines growing about it. In front of them was a spectacular view of Beacon bathed in the clear moonlight, a vantage point that rivaled the one on the dormitory roof. Then again, balconies seem to give off that more intimate kind of vibe.

And why wouldn't it? The night sky was quite lit up with the sparkle of thousands of stars, the moon was shining brightly, and Beacon Tower's light gave that eerie but awesome glow that pierced their view. The distant chirp of cicadas resonated with the rustling of trees, and a couple of fireflies were flashing nearby.

No one else seemed to have went up here at this time of night, which was perfect. There was still the muffled sounds of music and chatter that came from the ballroom behind them, but it wasn't that much of a nuisance. It got a little bit awkward for the two up here, since neither Avena nor Jackson was going to start some conversation that they would be having up here—maybe waiting for the noise to die down before going back wasn't exactly a good idea.

Upon Jackon's yelling and pleading that he wasn't poisoned, Avena relinquished her grip on him. Still not sure why he have flustered, she decided to let the subject drop. She now turned her attention to the commotion that was happening on the dance floor. Looking over, she spotted the Filipovs doing a crazy dance which had drawn the attention of the other students. Avena began smiling and cheering at the spectacle, clearing enjoying the display. " Yeah!!! Go Fabi!!!" Avena cheered at the top of her lungs, trying to be heard over the music and other cheering. Suddenly, she felt Jackson's hand touch her shoulder and he asking her to follow him to the balcony. " Umm...ok." Avena replied, a little confused.

Avena blushed as Jackson led her away from the dance by the hand. Her palms were perspiring from a combination of Jackson's heat and her own nervousness. a short walk later and Jackson and Avena made it up to the balcony outside the ballroom. The night was clear and every star in the sky was shining bright, as well as the shattered moon. The balcony was also very quiet, much more than the ballroom which was literally a rock concert. Avena's mind raced and was cluttered with irrational theories about why Jackson dragged her up there. Each thought, mundane and lewd, made Avena sweat and blush more. Even her heart was pounding, a feeling she did not like. Trying to collect herself, Avena stuttered as she spoke. " Ummmm...w-why did you b-bring me up here?"

Man those two are close, Onyx thought to himself and he could a sip from his cup. Though he was surprised by the rather morbid dialogue that Ashley said and wondered why she said that. Just seem rather morbid to say that during a party and the two girls did bring up a thought. He has not bee assigned to a group yet and is still solo. Onyx almost got into a team one time but the he unfortunately missed his chance. Maybe he could be in a team with these two? "Well since it seems that the three of us are teamless..... maybe we can trained together to see if we would make a good team?

Lucas Blixsen

Lucas nodded to what they said, atleast not all hope was gone for a team was gone it seemed. When the comment on Charlotte getting off easy came around Lucas genuinely laughed despite it's morbid imagery. Perhaps it was from the fact he was originally Atlesian, and not a particularly obedient one at that who had his share of punishment for his rule-breaking in his youth. Or maybe he was getting used to morbid jokes thanks to his complicated team's humor, or lack thereof in some cases.

He glanced over to what Onyx was saying, he supposed it could work, but they still need one more member. He then realized that as they were 2nd years, they had already gone on missions, at least one mission shadowing a huntsman. "Oh since you're second years, you've already been on atleast one mission right? What was it like?"

He was slightly irked by the escalating noises that forced him to raise his tone so that he could be heard, why was somebody even yelling anyways? And don't get Lucas started about some of the songs that are being played and sung up there.

While Hannah kept her arms crossed, and retaining a dangerously annoyed presence from Ashley's morbid remark, there was no time wasted in Ashley pondering upon the idea of forming a team with someone like Onyx; however, with Hannah apparently offended to her side, Ashley was not the one to reply towards such a proposal. Instead, Ashley made a curious facial expression as if she was pondering upon Onyx's proposal, but given the fact that Hannah was not saying anything, Ashley decided to delay her reply until Hannah spoke first. Subsequently, after a couple seconds of silence (and as well as enduring the loud noise generated from the music and singing in the background), Hannah finally took the initiative to reply.

"That's not so bad of an idea, but it depends on if Mister Ozpin will allowed it." Hannah spoke with her slightly accented voice retaining a mixture of partial enthusiasm and concern, "Whether we and Ash had heard anything from him lately or not, I fear that he may have beaten you and the others to the chase in forming a team. Nevertheless, you're not the first of proposing to make a team."

"At least it's better than marinating on thy back burner." Ashley added with a hint of mild humor towards Hannah, and inexplicably to Onyx and Lucas.

"Didn't you say that from the last proposal prior to our previous mission?" Hannah questioned sternly as if Ashley had been saying something so déjà vu.

"Maybe." Ashley shrugged nonchalantly and playfully as if she was purposely acting dumb, all the while taking the courage of sipping her cup of Punch and effortlessly deflecting Hannah's annoyance like dust in the wind.

"Well, it depends on who you're asking that particular question to." Ashley stated, "If you ask me, it's like goin' out on thy hunt again. While if you ask that same question to B...,"

At that moment, Ashley gestured her right arm briefly in Hannah's direction before continuing her statement, "...it's like goin' into another war."

"Ash, I'm not that fanatic!" Hannah barked, with her annoyance finally boiling over into calm yet reasonable anger.

"Sure you're not, B." Ashley agreed, but her voice tone partially contradicted her agreement, since it was lighthearted rather than apologetic, "I'm just makin' a point here."

"Albeit, a very stereotypical one." Hannah irritably added to her girlfriend's carefree dialogue.

"Well speak for yourself, sarge." Ashley countered once again with a playfully nonchalant attitude, "Specifically thy gal who charges into battle with a helmet on your head...like a little pussy."

Not surprisingly, Hannah calmly concentrated a glare at Ashley with her arms to her side, and it was here that Hannah made her turn to metaphorically burn her girlfriend, "How about that one mission where you were knocked unconscious by...åh jeg ved ikke, a rock...while at full aura?"

"Yeah..." Ashley muttered as she scratched the back of her head with her right hand, "But it was just a flesh wound though."

At that point, Hannah chuckled out of the pathetic understatement made by Ashley, "Not if you had bandages wrapped around your head while bleeding all over the place, and remaining completely out of action for much of that particular mission."

Ashley dared not to say another word as she made a momentary exhale, knowing very well of what happened during that mission. She may not have been awake for most of that old mission, but she remembered through the details of Hannah, and as well as the team they were accompanying, that her body had to carried in shifts and all the while keeping the bandages fresh and changed in order to prevent Ashley from meeting a slow death by shrapnel to the head. In the aftermath of such a mission, Ashley was awarded with three months at the Beacon Academy infirmary and three months of late work in all her class; however, being the friend that Hannah was following after the mission, Ashley could only be grateful and thankful that her grades barely remained above a B or a C, and considering all the loose ends that Hannah had to tie with the assistance of the fellow classmates.

"And you know how upset Ozpin and Glynda were once they received the news of your mission report." Hannah calmly yet sternly added, with her voice reminiscing of a drill sergeant talking towards a soldier caught sleeping out in the field, "And then I had to make the explanation, all the while wondering why my helmet stopped something that your aura should've stopped...had you been paying attention and not treating the targets like elk or deer."

Balcony

Maybe this was a bad idea.

Maybe Jackson shouldn't have led her away from the dance hall for some air—he knew that she'd not mind the boisterous performances competing for her and everyone else. In fact, he would've bet 500 Lien that she'd jump the fuck right in and add to the noise, something she was already very good at. Plus Carmina would probably be all alone back there, and she might start to wonder where they went off to. More importantly, he and Avena were alone. On a balcony. On a beautiful starry night. With only each other. This was all starting to look like some overused romantic cliche in the movies.

He began to sweat profusely, his body unresponsive to the cool breeze that blew around him. His collar began to feel a lot warmer than usual, and his neck was starting to itch a little. He could feel his stomach was beginning to act up as if he hadn't eaten a single morsel of food, worsening as he overheard Avena's question.

Turning to face her his eyes started to bounce all over the place. "Oh, um-uhhh, I-I just thought we could get some fresh air or ummm, get away from the loud noise, that's all..." His voice began to trail off as his eyes slowed on her shoulder.

Oh Monty, that was a lie, an honest-to-gods lie. He began to think that for once Avena had seen through that. Fox boy felt increasingly vulnerable as he began to memorize the scars on her skin, not knowing that his eyes were slowly gravitating towards her sparkling blue eyes. These weren't the eyes of the enchantress that were trying their hardest not to stare right back at him, no. These seemed to be the eyes of fretfulness, the kind that he could faintly see his own reflection from.

"Is there something wrong?" Jackson asked.

Ballroom

The beats were becoming more and more infectious, and everyone seemed to pass it down to the student next to him/her. Carmina didn't seem to mind watching the spectacle unfold before her, not realizing that her head was starting to bounce back and forth with the music. And then her arms were starting to sway a little bit, threatening to spill her punch. Next, her legs were screaming out to her to move. Everyone seemed to move the same way—but the way that she smiled suggested that they didn't dance it right. After all, this was a very popular song back in Vacuo during her childhood, and almost every radio in the neighborhood would play that song numerous times in the day.

Figuring that she might as well have fun for once, she put her plastic cup down and began to join the crowd in dancing wildly. Slowly elbowing through everyone, Carmina came closer and closer to Fabi, eventually joining the group and letting loose in front of everyone. As if out of instinct, her arms and legs moved expressively to the rhythm and her hips swayed left and right to the beat. As Fabi and his backup continued to sing and dance, she mouthed the lyrics of the ballad by heart as if she was singing in the shower.

Layla simply nodded silently, slipping through the balcony door into the relative silence of the night. The dormitories were hardly the best view, but if she wanted a view all she needed to do was look up. The sky was... Different to Haven's, but there were small similarities, faint hints of constellations she knew well. Just more she'd need to learn again, since stellar navigation was so underrated by many.

Well, at least it was far quieter out here. Spotting a bench, she walked over and sat, motioning for Zimt to sit next to her.

Farmina
Fabi was enjoying the crowd's enjoyment of the song. He was actually surprised, as he assumed that the crowd would boo him and his extended family, but it seemed that people were actually enjoying. One woman in particular caught his eye. While normally Fabi would only focus on one girl at a time, the disappearance of Blanche from school grounds and the feeling that the heavens had one less person in them led Fabi to believe that Blanche wasn't going to be returning for a long while, if that. So he determined that maybe this woman he saw would be the best bet for him to try and woo. He knew her loosely, seeing her around before, but he knew it would be a bit difficult for him to try and woo her. After the song, he turned to his "band" and whispered to them. When they heard his plan, they all nodded and began to change their instruments, with one stepping forward to the microphone Fabi held out to him. After the man grabbed the mic, Fabi jumped down and walked to the still dancing Carmina. As he reached her, the band started playing the music to "Por ti Volare". The man Fabi handed the mircophone started to sing the lyrics, and everyone stopped. Surely a man with a accent similar to Earth's Russian accent singing an Italian song that had been translated into Spanish would be a weird sight to most people. However, it was clear that it was time for an actual slow dance with an actual song one would slow dance too. The crowd had taken this hint and decided that they would either slow dance or get punch, both being equally amazing actions.

"Carmina, will you give me the pleasure of letting me dance with such a beautiful woman?" Fabi said, laying it on a bit too thick. It didn't matter though, it was worth a shot.

Silent Spark pt. 2
Aiden just watched as the whole action unfurled. The ball started with some electronica, then it moved to a slow dance (albiet, a crappy song with it), then whatever Fabi did, and then back to slow dancing to an opera song. Aiden mostly gave up, and almost wanted to leave, but he felt the nervous hands of Yamako, and remembered that he couldn't leave just yet. He offered a dance to Yamako, and he was honor-bound to stay until she wished to leave. But maybe he was legitimately interested in her. He couldn't determine what his feelings were.

I do enjoy spending time with her, but I don't feel attracted to her. Or do I? I can't tell. I mean, she seems to like me. Maybe she has pity on me? Do I have pity on her? Is that it? I did have that one dream with her, but a lot of people were in that dream. Then again... Aiden began to think. He didn't realize it, but he did like her, but the nature of the feelings were so vastly different from his usual infatuation to other women that he couldn't identify it. It was a more mature and refined infatuation that it seemed so alien to him. Yamako could see that Aiden was doing more thinking then dancing, and decided to try and catch Aiden's attention again. She had to get over her fear of rejection, but it would take a bit of a jump in bravery. However, she then had an epiphany. If she fails, Aiden wouldn't be a dick about it. She had seen him turn down other girls and two guys (He didn't like talking about it), but he was very calm and understanding with them.At that point Yamako realized that she had nothing left to fear.

"Aiden, can I ask you a question?" Yamako asked, with a twinge of nervousness in her voice. She was nervous on the fact that she was finally asking, not fear.

"Yeah Yamako?" Aiden asked, smiling at her, dancing slowly and calmly with her.

"I was just wondering something. I like you a lot Aiden, I always have since I've seen you. I couldn't get you out of my head, which sounds crazy I know. But I think I've determined that I want to be with you. I might as well try, as I can't forget you." Yamako said, her voice cracking at the end from nervousness. Aiden was just about to reject her, and he tried to find a reason to justify it. However, something hit him. He couldn't justify saying no. He couldn't think of any reason that was a good reason. Then it truly hit him. He did like her. His attraction was more refined though he realized. Her was a beautiful woman, a woman he did like, asking to be his girlfriend. At that moment, Aiden realized he fianlly found the one person he was destined to be with.

"Yes Yamako, I will be your boyfriend." Aiden said smiling. Yamako smiled and began to tear up. She finally got the man she loved. She leaned forward and gave Aiden a passionate kiss. Aiden returned the kiss, brinig her into a hug. He was happy as well. Together, they realized that they both shared a silent spark from the beginning. A silent spark that would bring them together.

This was too much for Avena to have handle. She was in a romantic place. Alone. At a dance. With the guy who she has a crush on. What made matters worse was that Jackson, too, was very flustered. She noticed that he was stuttering and looking over her body, which made Avena blush even harder. Is he staring at my scars? He must think their ugly and unladylike. Avena thought to herself as she was becoming more and more uncomfortable by the situation.

When Jackson asked what was wrong, Avena didn't know what to say. Correction, she knew what say, but didn't know how to say it. She wanted to tell him how she felt, that she was in love with Jackson and that she has been for awhile. She wanted to confess all of that, but she couldn't. Her own body refused what her heart felt and was forced to do something stupid and embarrassing change the subject. She had to answer him so she did the best that she could without telling him everything.

" Y...you were staring at my scars, weren't you? Their...their hideous, I know. You must think I act unladylike. That you see me more of a man than a woman." Avena said as she looked down at the floor as tears welled up in her eyes.

" I mean, I don't blame you!!" Avena yelled as she flailed her arms and turned around so Jackson couldn't see the tears. " I do act like a man! All I do is fight, cause chaos, and act immature. I'm a mess and everyone knows it, but I don't care about what they say. I always do whatever I want without a care in the world." At this point the tears were flowing down her face and she tried to hide it. Deep down, she wanted Jackson to disagree and say that she was attractive, but she knew he didn't feel that way. " You probably don't think I'll ever find someone who cares about me or that I would even care if they do."

Zimt Krasnyy

Well, at least it was far quieter out here. Spotting a bench, she walked over and sat, motioning for Zimt to sit next to her.

He sat-down, leaning back ever so slightly. You couldn’t lean forwards, no not at all, not without looking like an odd teen. Crouched forwards like an ape, posture all wrong, no no no. That wasn’t good at all. That wasn’t joyous at all. That didn’t present a good image. Oh, Gods, now he was thinking on his image. Did she like him? Did she think him funny? Probably not.

Zimt noted a breeze, light and playful, before also noting how she did not have a mantle. “Do you...need a coat?” He asked, one hand moving to be ready to unbutton his jacket if need be.

Ballroom

The crowd broke into applause once the song had ended.

It should be obvious by now, but Carmina never had this much fun ever since she entered the Dance Hall. Usually school proms were rather dull, even in carefree Vacuo, but this one seemed to turn her perceptions of it around. Who knew that this dance had just upped the fun level? Maybe it was a college thing for college-level Dances to be many times better than high school Dances, she thought, but Huntsman Academies weren't exactly "college-level". Eh.

But the sudden change in pace surprised the young redhead, who was expecting another disco song from the band. She was even more surprised to see Fabi get off the stage and walk towards her as the crowd gazed at the sight. Her arms stopped moving to the music and drew closer to her chest, and her knees were gravitating close to each other. It was a bit funny and weird at the same time seeing Fabi move to the beat of an opera song—she wished she didn't recognize a single word or even a note from that song—but it was pretty good in that weird way, and she seemed to like it.

Carmina watched as he extended her hand to her to offer a slow and lazy dance. That must've been the second cheesiest thing that she had heard in her life, right after that time when she watched that high school rom-com show—she forgot what it was called. She couldn't help but laugh as she stared at him in the eye and teased, "To that song? You've got to be kidding me!"

But as she briefly glanced away and flicked a tear, she decided that she wasn't gonna pass up this moment. After all, this was gonna be one of those nights where she was free to be a girl. She held his hand and slowly drew closer to Fabi, guiding his hand onto her waist and placing her hands 'round his neck.

"Okay," Carmina smiled, staring into the blacks of his eyes.

Balcony

"Y-you were staring at my scars, weren't you?"

Jackson's cheeks reddened all the more. She must now think he was a massive pervert or something for looking at her like that, and he didn't want to be on the receiving end of a wrestling move done out of anger. Just being forced into a headlock out of a very twisted definition of fun was bad enough. His voice stammered a lot as he tried to tell her that he wasn't, but the words didn't come out right at all. It was all just a bunch of "Ums" and "Is" that were forcing themselves out of his mouth. "I-I-I-uhmmm," he tried to recompose himself, waving his hands around like she was. "I-I didn't mean to l-look at your scars or a-anything, uh... I was just—"

But he was surprised he hadn't received a good smacking yet, and this time it may not be Avena not giving a shit about it. In fact, he was rather surprised to hear her voice start to crack. Something was definitely off about her tonight.

His ears twitched at the sound of sobbing. Her? The happy-go-lucky and free-spirited Avena Sharpe, weighed down to the point of tears over the scars on her back? That was unheard of, even for JACL. Jackson knew that she was incredibly proud of them, "a reminder of the adventures she had" as she once put it. Now it seemed that she was retracting all of that. It felt pitiful to see her wallow in her own tears like that—it wasn't like her, never like her at all.

Jackson then put his foot forward and slowly went around to face Avena. He could see the tears fall from her face and sparkle in the moonlight as they fell to the ground. He could hear her sobbing continue, and he began to think that these were more unbearable to him than the bundle, no, deadly explosive of joy that was equated with her. "You know," he put his hand under her chin, tilting her head to face him. "I hate you when you're not smiling incessantly. I really, really, hate you when you don't have that ear-to-ear grin."

Taking a deep sigh he continued, "You know that's not true. Your friends and family care about you, your teachers care about you, and most of all your teammates care a lot about you. Take Carmina—she cares a lot about you because you two have grown to be very best friends. In fact I'd even say if you disappeared from Remnant one day she'd stop at nothing to find you. And Leif—he cares a lot about you because he knows you can give him a few handy tips in fighting. You're someone that he can look up to as a teammate and as a friend, and the reason why he's becoming more diligent than the rest of us."

Well, that really wasn't saying much because as a whole JACL was notorious for slacking off on their requirements. Jackson preferred to play video games instead of actually studying like he tells everyone else, Carmina and Avena were usually up to no good, and Leif was more interested in cooking than combat class assignments. But you have to admit—Leif's quite the hard worker.

But what about Jackson, you ask? "I care a lot about you not just because I know you're gonna get us in trouble again, but because you're that kind of person that keeps the team from being just another group of four on campus. You're the heart and soul of the team. The reason why we're so famous as we are—however good or bad that may be—is because of you."

Gazing into her despondent eyes he added, "A-and contrary to what many people think, you're actually the reason why I can sleep soundly at night, since you'll be there to get me up and kicking for tomorrow."

And then came the clincher.

"If you really don't care about what anyone else says, then why cry? You don't have to be one of the boys or as graceful as a girl, because you're Avena Sharpe. If you can't convince yourself that you are who you are, I don't know who will. Besides," he paused to wipe the tears off of her face with his thumb. "That little scar on your cheek is more of a beauty mark. It suits you. Just wish you'd never cover it up."

"All right, yall drunkards, get off the fucking stage please.", Aka-Inu, vocalist of Band STAR - the only band from Beacon that he thought was the sole performance aside from the bootleg Daft Punk - called out to Fabi's merry band of backwater folks. Right behind him was Shiro, Kuro, and Reinard - who got told off since he took too fucking long to get back to backstage - holding their instruments (except for Reinard who held his own drumsticks), ready to perform.

"This stage can only handle one star", he taunted. "And frankly, you guys don't look like stars."

Thankfully Aka-inu had interrupted the Filipovs after the main singer had finished. When he did arrive, the singer nodded towards the band, who kept the tune so the people can slow dance still. He knew that any argument would start a fight, and as such said that the band should follow him outside so the argument wouldn't disturb the peace. They obliged, trepidatiously of course, and they headed outside. When the door closed, the singer turned to them and opened his mouth. The singer stood at about 6'2", not as tall as Ulfric, but pretty tall r

"I am Garin Yefim Filipov, Chief of the FIlipov tribe. Before you say anything, I tell you this to let you know two things: First, I am Fabi's father. That doesn't seem like much, but if me and you brawl Mr. Demanding, you'll know what it'll be like to fight Fabi. Secondly, all you have is a force of four young arrogant adults, I have a whole tribe I care for. Now, it looks like you want us off the stage. I respect that, I respect that you like to use your talent. However, if you look at the program, you'll see that me and my son and some other Filipovs are actually allowed to play right now," Garin said, showing the four students the program, "However, my main gripe is the way you talked to me. I would like if you would at least apologize for calling us drunks, but if you don't that's fine. But being rude bites you in the ass later in life, so I'd be careful."

Garin waited for any response, but he didn't expect much. After all, when you've led a tribe of people for 15 years, you begin to realize that not everyone is nice. Some just think about themselves and what they want, but Garin didn't mind. He too was like that once.
