Chess only glared. The fury was fake, but if Chess had one skill, it'd be putting on a show. And damn, she was putting on a show. True to her Atlesian roots, the boy trapped in the girl would not take one step back. She would not back down. Life means fortification, and fortification means defense. Defense means victory. Victory means a date.

Also, don't go around telling me to piss off because if you just got rid of my brother in your mind, I'm going to do everything I can to make you remember what he did for you.
Because I can't stand seeing Theriam go to such extremes when there's nothing at the end besides blood.
I'm not sure if you get what I mean though." Heamet didn't sound serious, instead, he had this permanent grin on his face that he earned through the weeks, being infinitely more sarcastic and charismatic, at least for Aria's standards.

She turned around, making eye contact with him.
Heamet then got the chance to stare into the abyss, and the abyss was staring right through him.
There was literally nothing in her eyes. A thin layer of blue, but underneath... an endless void.
When she spoke, her voice was remarkable in that it was so unremarkable. It wasn't happy, or sad, or angry, or scared, fast, slow, high, low, patient, irritated, there was nothing. It couldn't even be described as 'dead'.
It just... was.
"As you wish."

Heamet fell silent for a moment, although his grin didn't fade.
"Now now, I can't just bring you up to him while you're feeling so dead inside, it wouldn't be right, nor for me or him.
... Look, I won't say I know how you feel, because I don't.
But Theriam seriously cares about you, and it would be a damn shame if you just showed up to him, looked at him dead in the eyes, quite literally this time, and say 'I love you' in such a dead tone.
Seriously, I hope you'll get back your life strings back when you'll see him again." The man didn't make his grin fade, even if he sounded somewhat sad.
'She probably won't respond positively to that, knowing her by Theriam, I doubt she'll even speak to me.'
"You know, I mostly know you from Theriam, he told me lots about you actually, for instance where you liked to go with him, how you spoke with him.
You actually felt safe for once didn't you?
Sigh... Why is it that people always ruin good times for the heck of it all?
Pain in the arse if you ask me."

Again, she spoke. There was no warmth in her eyes, or her voice, but there was no cold either, and not even a shred of sympathy as she replied.
"I do not love him."
She spoke truly.
She did not love anyone or anything. Not now. Now she was simply... ice. And ice, as we all know, does not care what it freezes. And if you're not careful... ice can be very painful indeed.
She continued.
"I did feel safe. I was foolish." She didn't say that with remorse, or bitterness, or reproach. She didn't say it with any emotion at all. "Safety is a lie. There is nowhere safe."

Heamet scratched the back of his head.
"You still don't seem to get the fact that you were under an illusion when it happened...
You know, ask Ether- Wait no, not him, he'll just stare at you until you leave.
Ask Aria, she was probably there when it happened, although right now...
She's probably hunting Theriam and waiting to put him down when the time comes." The man sighed, hiding his eyes slightly.
"You know, Theriam basically used every small bit of his body to avenge you, right now, that's what he's doing.
That mode, Lumine, if Aria doesn't stop him, he's dead if he keeps it up, and I honestly don't know how Aria is going to handle him.
I know she has those sniper rifles of hers that are literally unblockable and will pierce through his rage like a knife through butter, but I don't know how she'll handle the aftermath.
Probably send healing bullets packed with my blood.
Yet, he's killing himself just for you, don't you think that means at least something?
Even in that thick ice cold heart of yours?"

"Good grief... You really can't take proof for proof.
Theriam wasn't there when it happened, he was with me, fighting.
I'm sure he told you, plus, why would he even try to hurt you?

"If you can, sometime in the future, think about someone else again, think of my brother." He continued coldly then walked ahead for Leonard's classroom.
"LEONARD! I'm pissed and I need something to hit! Come fight me real quick you twat!" He could be heard shouting through the walls.

To be fair, it wasn't very hard to find the debil student, with his tearing about the academy grounds with the most ridiculous weapons.
Easy enough to just do what I do with every berserk debil I've ever had to deal with... just wait it out and take care of exhausted fool afterwards...

Looks like Avena wasn't too sure about what Anna said earlier, and Skye practically guessed the same thing. It can't be helped, since she lived outside of the city of Vale (but still within the walls of the Kingdom since good Monty knows what hell lies outside). To be honest, what she whispered back was correct to many — that Anna was inviting Skye to sit with them at the cafeteria — even though Avena had no idea it was correct. Eh, at least she tried, Carmina thought. Those two girls were like peas in a pod, only if one gave those peas a sniper halberd and a bow. One could wonder how Jackson can put up with them as team leader.
"I wasn't really flying," Skye explained to Carmina while leading the pack towards the cafeteria. She began to explain by showing the soles of her feet, which had blades that may look good for ice skating with. She further explained that it was combination of her skills as a skater and of her semblance that she was able to slide her feet, and even did a couple of demonstrations along the way. "That's cool!" Carmina grinned.
"It didn't really work out though and now I'm reaaaallly hungry," Skye continued. "But that's cool 'coz we're going to the ca-fe-teriaaaaa! I wonder if they have pizza? Or tacos?! Or like, tacos but the taco is actually a pizza folded in half and filled with toppings! Man that would be rad!"
"Come on Skye," the redhead slipped both of her hands behind her head again. "You've been to the cafeteria like, many times already. Of course they'll have pizza. Surely you'd get some kind of pattern from what they have on the menu, right? Pizza every Monday and Wednesday, tacos every Tuesdays and Saturdays, you get the picture." The group rounded a corner and continued to walk whatever stretch of avenue was left between them and the cafeteria — which was a few hundred meters away. Other students were coming from all over the campus with their friends and converging on the building as well.
"But they do have special menu items occasionally," Leif chimed in. "Some of them were actually funny. Last Thursday they served whole turkey instead of just turkey legs. I mean why would they want to serve something that large for just one person?"
Carmina placed her left hand on Leif's back and chortled, "It's for the whole team to share, unless you're a glutton."

Stormwrath wrote:Leif may seem to be ticked off by Carmina's remark. He loves all kinds of food — roasted lamb seasoned with exotic spices from Vacuo, dumplings with beef and eggs inside, and fresh vegetable salad with pieces of chicken and with the complementary cheese or thousand island dressing are some of his favorite dishes. How dare she label him as a glutton! He raised his index finger and retorted in a hilariously serious tone, "Let me make this clear, Carmina. I am not a glutton, I am a food enthusiast. I enjoy all kinds of food that have all kinds of taste — I don't shove food down my throat."
"Yes you do," Carmina replied. From there it was back and forth between them.
"No I don't."
"Yes, you, do."
"No I don't."
"Yes. You. Dooooo. Every time we go to the cafeteria you pack a whole lot of food on your plate."
Leif stammered, "I-Uh it's because I need the energy for the day! I mean, combat classes under Prof. Silver are tiring." Carmina didn't seem convinced by his reason.
"But if tacos and pizza are on different days does that mean the fabled pizza taco is destined to remain a legend? Ever illusory!?" Skye adopted a dramatic pose in front of the group, continuing to monologue in a tone that could make people like Leif inspired. His eyes sparkled as she spoke with the fire of passion in her eyes. This would be perhaps one of his goals as an up-and-coming cook — create what would be deemed the stuff of legend — the pizza taco. He adopted a more dramatic pose, with one hand pointing to the sky, and the other as if he was holding a pizza tray.
"I say the dream is alive, Skye my friend!" he said with a more fervent passion in his voice. "No, saying that the pizza taco is but a dream would be to understate it — it is a vision, a marvelous vision we must aspire to achieve! It will be the greatest achievement for all human-and-faunus kind! A cook who refuses to create recipes that may be impossible does not deserve to be worthy of the apron around his body and the distinctive hat on his head! I shall endeavor to embark on perfecting the legendary pizza taco and offer it to you for your mouth to savor in all its glory! It shall be done, milady! IT SHALL BE DONE!!!"
With a look of amusement on her face, Carmina watched as Leif held Skye's hand and raised it upwards. He was chanting "Destiny!" with the rabbit faunus as they led the pack. "Yep," she commented loud enough for the others to hear. "There he goes again." she cupped her hands and called out, "You know, no one likes a show-off."
Turning around he retorted, "Says the one flaunting her precious longbow." Returning to his chant he shouted with Skye in unison, "Destiny! Destiny! Destiny!"
"Looks like you just got burned," said a familiar voice that perhaps belonged to the person that tapped Carmina's shoulder. Jackson appeared out of nowhere between Carmina and Avena. "I'm guessing you'll be going to the infirmary for that, huh?"
"About time you showed up," Carmina got her arm around the fox faunus's back, resting it on his shoulder. "Don't get too cocky there, Jackson."

"Don't you fricking go there," Carmina narrowed her eyes at Avena. When Jackson showed up, Avena also asked where had the fox faunus been, that is after reminding him of his responsibilities as a leader — to which Jackson rolled his eyes. He placed his hands back into his side pockets. "I just went to the locker room to put away my stuff," he lied.
"Ah, Mr. Silver," Anna greeted him politely. "I'm delighted to make your acquaintance this fine morn. I trust you too shall be accompanying us to the nourishment center?"
"Of course," Jackson smiled a little. "It is lunch time. And please call me Jackson." Unlike the rest of his teammates, he could understand the language that was used by the spawn of the intelligentsia and the aristocracy. After all, his father was a well-educated man — perhaps one of the most educated faunus of his time — and both Jackson and Adelaide inherited those traits.
The group went through the double wooden doors and entered the cafeteria itself. It was big enough to house all of the students of Beacon and provide them with enough food so they can continue the day. The tables were filled with students with trays of all kinds of food in front of them, and they seemed to be talking different kinds of conversations. Some of them wore the iconic school uniform of Beacon, while others wore their battle gear — indicating that they have just finished a combat class.
