Carmina Birch

Looks like Avena wasn't too sure about what Anna said earlier, and Skye practically guessed the same thing. It can't be helped, since she lived outside of the city of Vale (but still within the walls of the Kingdom since good Monty knows what hell lies outside). To be honest, what she whispered back was correct to many — that Anna was inviting Skye to sit with them at the cafeteria — even though Avena had no idea it was correct. Eh, at least she tried, Carmina thought. Those two girls were like peas in a pod, only if one gave those peas a sniper halberd and a bow. One could wonder how Jackson can put up with them as team leader.

"I wasn't really flying," Skye explained to Carmina while leading the pack towards the cafeteria. She began to explain by showing the soles of her feet, which had blades that may look good for ice skating with. She further explained that it was combination of her skills as a skater and of her semblance that she was able to slide her feet, and even did a couple of demonstrations along the way. "That's cool!" Carmina grinned.

"It didn't really work out though and now I'm reaaaallly hungry," Skye continued. "But that's cool 'coz we're going to the ca-fe-teriaaaaa! I wonder if they have pizza? Or tacos?! Or like, tacos but the taco is actually a pizza folded in half and filled with toppings! Man that would be rad!"

"Come on Skye," the redhead slipped both of her hands behind her head again. "You've been to the cafeteria like, many times already. Of course they'll have pizza. Surely you'd get some kind of pattern from what they have on the menu, right? Pizza every Monday and Wednesday, tacos every Tuesdays and Saturdays, you get the picture." The group rounded a corner and continued to walk whatever stretch of avenue was left between them and the cafeteria — which was a few hundred meters away. Other students were coming from all over the campus with their friends and converging on the building as well.

"But they do have special menu items occasionally," Leif chimed in. "Some of them were actually funny. Last Thursday they served whole turkey instead of just turkey legs. I mean why would they want to serve something that large for just one person?"

Carmina placed her left hand on Leif's back and chortled, "It's for the whole team to share, unless you're a glutton."

Jackson Silver

With the failure of his recent prototype, Jackson walked with a slight slump to the cafeteria with the same grumpy expression on his face. He picked up the weapon, sheathed it behind his back and slid his hands into his two side pockets. Along the way he ran into one of the human bullies, who greeted him with a mocking and derisive tone. "How's your day, fox?"

To this Jackson ignored. The human — who wasn't intent on giving up —followed him and spoke out, "Come on, man! Don't be like that, I was just messing with you."

Clearly the faunus was having a bad day. "Fuck off."

"What was that?" the bully touched the hem of Jackson's collar, and Jackson slapped his hand and grabbed the bully's with his two hands in a fit of anger. With an irate glare Jackson snarled, "I said, fuck off." With that he let go and dropped the human.

Sitting back down at the table, Mentari noticed that Chess was glaring at her. She didn't understand what was wrong, but if something happened, she decided it was best not to talk about it. She believed that someone else would have to ask, seeing as how all the fury was pointed at her. The techy girl felt like she was sitting next to a ticking sensitivity bomb.

"So Lucas, you done yet?" she asked the boy across from her.

After Theriam went storming out, Heamet left the scene and followed Charlotte quietly, once she stopped, he spoke and stopped as well.

"I guess this whole ordeal has gotten you even more messed up.
At least, I think I would be a little more, then again, it IS you we're talking about.
And since your mind is scattered all around the place, I don't know how I'd qualify that.
Also, don't go around telling me to piss off because if you just got rid of my brother in your mind, I'm going to do everything I can to make you remember what he did for you.

Because I can't stand seeing Theriam go to such extremes when there's nothing at the end besides blood.
I'm not sure if you get what I mean though." Heamet didn't sound serious, instead, he had this permanent grin on his face that he earned through the weeks, being infinitely more sarcastic and charismatic, at least for Aria's standards.

Speaking of Aria, she simply followed Theriam and was ready to knock him out with a tranquilizer bullet from the new gun she had made.
A one purpose sniper rifle, intensely powerful, impossible to block, but self destructs after only one shot.
Supposedly, she had at least five of these, only to be used in desperate situations since she just couldn't find the blueprints again, she had to wait at least one more year for Ether to redraw them.

For now, she was silent, watching both Theriam and the teacher, although merely gauging where Reina was given her speed.
Each time Theriam was closing in and took a swing, she'd just boost ahead and dodge it like it was nothing.

Two minutes had passed since Theriam had underwent his fury.

Ether on the other hand 'stalked' Mentari from afar.
Even though afar maybe a strong word since he was only ten meters away in phantom form.
However, should Ether speak or do anything besides walking or drawing letters from the air currents, his phantom form would have to reload, and to reload, he'd have to get physical.

However, he wasn't totally invisible.
In fact, he was standing in the middle of everyone.
Yet no one noticed him, even with his height.

She turned around, making eye contact with him.

Heamet then got the chance to stare into the abyss, and the abyss was staring right through him.

There was literally nothing in her eyes. A thin layer of blue, but underneath... an endless void.

When she spoke, her voice was remarkable in that it was so unremarkable. It wasn't happy, or sad, or angry, or scared, fast, slow, high, low, patient, irritated, there was nothing. It couldn't even be described as 'dead'.

It just... was.

"As you wish."

Heamet fell silent for a moment, although his grin didn't fade.

"Now now, I can't just bring you up to him while you're feeling so dead inside, it wouldn't be right, nor for me or him.
... Look, I won't say I know how you feel, because I don't.
But Theriam seriously cares about you, and it would be a damn shame if you just showed up to him, looked at him dead in the eyes, quite literally this time, and say 'I love you' in such a dead tone.

Seriously, I hope you'll get back your life strings back when you'll see him again." The man didn't make his grin fade, even if he sounded somewhat sad.

'She probably won't respond positively to that, knowing her by Theriam, I doubt she'll even speak to me.'

"You know, I mostly know you from Theriam, he told me lots about you actually, for instance where you liked to go with him, how you spoke with him.
You actually felt safe for once didn't you?
Sigh... Why is it that people always ruin good times for the heck of it all?
Pain in the arse if you ask me."

Again, she spoke. There was no warmth in her eyes, or her voice, but there was no cold either, and not even a shred of sympathy as she replied.

"I do not love him."

She spoke truly.

She did not love anyone or anything. Not now. Now she was simply... ice. And ice, as we all know, does not care what it freezes. And if you're not careful... ice can be very painful indeed.

She continued.

"I did feel safe. I was foolish." She didn't say that with remorse, or bitterness, or reproach. She didn't say it with any emotion at all. "Safety is a lie. There is nowhere safe."

Heamet scratched the back of his head.

"You still don't seem to get the fact that you were under an illusion when it happened...
You know, ask Ether- Wait no, not him, he'll just stare at you until you leave.
Ask Aria, she was probably there when it happened, although right now...
She's probably hunting Theriam and waiting to put him down when the time comes." The man sighed, hiding his eyes slightly.

"You know, Theriam basically used every small bit of his body to avenge you, right now, that's what he's doing.
That mode, Lumine, if Aria doesn't stop him, he's dead if he keeps it up, and I honestly don't know how Aria is going to handle him.
I know she has those sniper rifles of hers that are literally unblockable and will pierce through his rage like a knife through butter, but I don't know how she'll handle the aftermath.
Probably send healing bullets packed with my blood.
Yet, he's killing himself just for you, don't you think that means at least something?
Even in that thick ice cold heart of yours?"

Theriam wasn't there when it happened, he was with me, fighting.
I'm sure he told you, plus, why would he even try to hurt you?
Tell me seriously, taking into account what he's done for you, would he really have done what he did in the illusion?" He told her, almost sternly, but still grinning.

The berserker howl of rage which reached Reina's ears was all she needed to know the debil student was coming after her. Not that it would do him much good really. Being berserk makes you stupid, well, more so than usual. So rather than let him waste his time looking for her, Reina goes looking for him, within the safety of her semblance of course.
To be fair, it wasn't very hard to find the debil student, with his tearing about the academy grounds with the most ridiculous weapons.

Easy enough to just do what I do with every berserk debil I've ever had to deal with... just wait it out and take care of exhausted fool afterwards...

She watches from a perch overlooking Theramin, rather amused at his uncontrolled rage.

"Fear is good. It means you're alive." He said, "But don't let it consume you. You have Sirina and me. You're our friend, and friends stand side by side." Ning then paused, "If you want, I can teach you my families martial arts if you wish."

Togami relaxed at his touch now, almost out of character in how he was taking it now.

Aria was overhead, set up on one of the buildings at least two kilometers away from Theriam as he jumped up for the teacher, merely assuming she was indeed here, if he had assumed wrongly, he would have destroyed the perch, simply from the sheer strength of his jump.

However, his form began to weaken as Aria grew closer, after all, every single one of the women in her family had this calming air about them that could calm down almost anything.
Of course, the song chanted by the girl before had helped for a few seconds.
However, he wasn't weakened as much as he was when Aria closed in on him.

Aria on the other hand knew the teacher was somehow amused, hiding away in her semblance like the coward she was.

'Even if I do insult her that way, what's it gonna do?
Given her behavior, I'm almost sure telling her that will just make her laugh and give me a fighting lecture about how the world is kill or be killed.
If anything, Theriam is going to kill her at some point, somehow.
If he unleashed that much, it means that she basically as good as dead once he finds the weakness of her semblance.

What pisses me off the most though is the fact that even if I can handle four blades now without a sweat, I can't handle that teach, even with all the things I have in my bag.
Yet... She pissed off Theriam, and Heamet at the same time, for different reasons.
And every single person that pissed them off ended up regretting it heavily.
Wait... Maybe I can do something with my semblance to at least hit her before getting Theriam down.'
As she thought that, purple figures started to form over her head as she aimed for her berserk teammate.

Her semblance originally only consisted of making blades out of thin air, yet after much training and thought, she noticed that every time she made her spies, they never looked like weapons at all, more like birds or lizards at times.
So she tried to cook up new ways of using her semblance and managed to make bullets and some certain types of guns she had worked on personally, however, even if she could copy the sniper rifle, it was nowhere near as powerful as the actual artifact.

Then, the purple hazes started to grow more defined, and looked like her guns she used all the time, those were way more powerful, yet they could only be shot ten times each, or less if she charged the bullets.
At maximum power, one shot completely uses up her guns and makes her body completely exhausted.
In that state, she can still move and do other rather normal things, but for the next six hours, fighting is out of the question.
She pondered whether or not she should send the max power at the teacher, while completely assuming where she was and risk a miss or just shoot normal yet quite potent bullets at her, hoping to hit without getting too tired.

She chose the latter and shot first with the sniper rifle, hitting Theriam through the heart directly.
Then she started shooting as the sniper rifle crumbled to pieces before her.

Four rifles are left.

She shot six bullets with each gun, the two of them covering her field of view.
If she shot well enough, two maybe three of them would hit, and they'd be non lethal.
If she shot wide, only one would hit and nick Reina at most.

However...
The shots completely failed to connect as the bullets faded at least five hundred meters before Reina's position.
Not only was she way too far, but she wasn't nearly as good as she needed to be to pull shots like these.

Lucas breathed a sigh of relief as he patted his expanded gut, completely oblivious to the conversation happening in front of him. Instead putting his full focus on the mighty pile of food left on his plate, eating it all, leaving his plate clean.

Lucas then realized where he was and responded to Mentari
"What? Oh training? Right well uhh...."

"If we can find Captain we can start right away, I managed to reserve a training room for it...but where is she?"
Lucas stood up, and looked around the cafeteria waiting for Chess and Mentari to stand up with him to begin their hunt for their leader.

Ning Kohkahycumest

Ning caught Togami, he didn't panic, instead he picked Togami up. He started on his way, looking for someone to help. He walked into the cafeteria.

"Excuse me. Does anyone know where to find help? My friend her just collapsed." He said very loudly hoping for someone to respond.

"Huh I guess you’re right," said the rabbit faunus, still traveling backwards on her skates. "I don't really sweat the small stuff like what day it is or whatever so I guess I never really noticed!"

Suddenly Skye gasped, holding both hands up to her mouth and narrowly gliding around a pair of students walking the opposite direction. How exactly she managed to be aware of them enough to avoid a collision despite still travelling backwards was something of a mystery though.

"But if tacos and pizza are on different days does that mean the fabled pizza taco is destined to remain a legend? Ever Illusory!?"

With a gentle push Skye sent herself ahead of the group again and adopted a dramatic, statuesque pose. One fist raised in the air while her other hand was clasped over her heart.

"It cannot be! For what is the driving ambition of man and faunus alike if not to turn dreams into reality?" she asked, her tone grandiose. "Where lesser men might hear of the taco pizza and ask 'why?' We who dare to reach for the impossible must only answer 'Because we can,' Nay! "Because we must!" "Because it is in our nature! Because to satisfy our longing we must not merely dream of the pizza taco but create it! Not merely create the pizza taco but master it! Not merely master the pizza taco but become one with it!"

Skye spun to face forwards again and picked up some more speed, her hand still raised in the air. "Now onwards brave companions!" cried Skye, plainly enjoying herself immensely. "To the cafeteria! To our destiny!"

Leif may seem to be ticked off by Carmina's remark. He loves all kinds of food — roasted lamb seasoned with exotic spices from Vacuo, dumplings with beef and eggs inside, and fresh vegetable salad with pieces of chicken and with the complementary cheese or thousand island dressing are some of his favorite dishes. How dare she label him as a glutton! He raised his index finger and retorted in a hilariously serious tone, "Let me make this clear, Carmina. I am not a glutton, I am a food enthusiast. I enjoy all kinds of food that have all kinds of taste — I don't shove food down my throat."

"Yes you do," Carmina replied. From there it was back and forth between them.

"No I don't."

"Yes, you, do."

"No I don't."

"Yes. You. Dooooo. Every time we go to the cafeteria you pack a whole lot of food on your plate."

Leif stammered, "I-Uh it's because I need the energy for the day! I mean, combat classes under Prof. Silver are tiring." Carmina didn't seem convinced by his reason.

"But if tacos and pizza are on different days does that mean the fabled pizza taco is destined to remain a legend? Ever illusory!?" Skye adopted a dramatic pose in front of the group, continuing to monologue in a tone that could make people like Leif inspired. His eyes sparkled as she spoke with the fire of passion in her eyes. This would be perhaps one of his goals as an up-and-coming cook — create what would be deemed the stuff of legend — the pizza taco. He adopted a more dramatic pose, with one hand pointing to the sky, and the other as if he was holding a pizza tray.

"I say the dream is alive, Skye my friend!" he said with a more fervent passion in his voice. "No, saying that the pizza taco is but a dream would be to understate it — it is a vision, a marvelous vision we must aspire to achieve! It will be the greatest achievement for all human-and-faunus kind! A cook who refuses to create recipes that may be impossible does not deserve to be worthy of the apron around his body and the distinctive hat on his head! I shall endeavor to embark on perfecting the legendary pizza taco and offer it to you for your mouth to savor in all its glory! It shall be done, milady! IT SHALL BE DONE!!!"

With a look of amusement on her face, Carmina watched as Leif held Skye's hand and raised it upwards. He was chanting "Destiny!" with the rabbit faunus as they led the pack. "Yep," she commented loud enough for the others to hear. "There he goes again." she cupped her hands and called out, "You know, no one likes a show-off."

Turning around he retorted, "Says the one flaunting her precious longbow." Returning to his chant he shouted with Skye in unison, "Destiny! Destiny! Destiny!"

"Looks like you just got burned," said a familiar voice that perhaps belonged to the person that tapped Carmina's shoulder. Jackson appeared out of nowhere between Carmina and Avena. "I'm guessing you'll be going to the infirmary for that, huh?"

"About time you showed up," Carmina got her arm around the fox faunus's back, resting it on his shoulder. "Don't get too cocky there, Jackson."

It seemed quite ridiculous how everyone here, including her teammate, was so obsessed about the finer culinary arts. That is, if you could even begin to call a 'pizza taco' a finer delight. While interesting, it sounded like too much of a cesspool of grease. Skye's very outgoing personality was welcome however, in order to prevent any awkward silence that might have been brought upon by Anastasia's lack of social experience.

Skye spun to face forwards again and picked up some more speed, her hand still raised in the air. "Now onwards brave companions!" cried Skye, plainly enjoying herself immensely. "To the cafeteria! To our destiny!"

Anna couldn't help but let out a giggle at her antics. Skye was indeed a wonderful team member to have. However, despite her rant about the glories of the 'pizza taco', Anna decided on one thing in particular.

"As delightful and exquisite as your tastes sound Skye, I think I'm content with just a salad for now," she said. The smile never left her face and there was absolutely no hint of sarcasm. With Skye now chanting something about how it was their 'destiny', Anastasia was oblivious to the approach of team JACL's leader. It wasn't until his witty remark did she turn to face and greet him.

"Ah, Mr. Silver, I'm delighted to make your acquaintance this fine morn. I trust you too shall be accompanying us to the nourishment center?" Anastasia inquired politely as she paused her trailing of Skye to speak. She gave a little bow to represent her respect of the team leader.

Avena laughed as she watched Leif and Carmina go at it. The two teammates argued constantly about bear about everything. Whether it was how warm it was outside or the right answer to a homework question. Leif and Carmina argued like a married couple, which gave Avena some thought about if the two liked each other more than friends. " Would you two kiss already?! The suspense is killing me!" Avena said as she tried to move their faces closer together.

This prompted the two to swat away her hands, giving her angry looks. " Oh come on, don't get mad at me. Fandoms have shown that the best couples are those who hated each other. Don't blame me, blame science." Avena said with a devilish grin. " I can only imagine, the naughty stuff you both will do. The passion...the love...the...sweat." Avena said as she started to blush and drool at the thought.

Suddenly, Jackson popped in and got between Avena and Carmina. " Well, look who showed up. You know Jackson, in order to lead a team, you have to be around to lead it." Avena said as she put her arm around his shoulder. " So...where have you been?"

"I can only imagine, the naughty stuff you both will do," Avena started to blush and drool at the mere thought of her teammates' lovemaking. "The passion...the love...the...sweat..."

"Don't you fricking go there," Carmina narrowed her eyes at Avena. When Jackson showed up, Avena also asked where had the fox faunus been, that is after reminding him of his responsibilities as a leader — to which Jackson rolled his eyes. He placed his hands back into his side pockets. "I just went to the locker room to put away my stuff," he lied.

"Ah, Mr. Silver," Anna greeted him politely. "I'm delighted to make your acquaintance this fine morn. I trust you too shall be accompanying us to the nourishment center?"

"Of course," Jackson smiled a little. "It is lunch time. And please call me Jackson." Unlike the rest of his teammates, he could understand the language that was used by the spawn of the intelligentsia and the aristocracy. After all, his father was a well-educated man — perhaps one of the most educated faunus of his time — and both Jackson and Adelaide inherited those traits.

The group went through the double wooden doors and entered the cafeteria itself. It was big enough to house all of the students of Beacon and provide them with enough food so they can continue the day. The tables were filled with students with trays of all kinds of food in front of them, and they seemed to be talking different kinds of conversations. Some of them wore the iconic school uniform of Beacon, while others wore their battle gear — indicating that they have just finished a combat class.

Team JACL, Anastasia and Skye all went to the food station and received a varying series of meals. Jackson got a cheeseburger, some fries and a box of orange juice onto his tray. Carmina, as usual, got protein-rich foods such as meat and beans, along with a box of milk. Leif got a slice of chocolate cake and a few cookies, along with a bowl of salad and a mango-flavored milkshake. Noticing that Carmina was filling her plate with a lot of meat, he said to her, "You know you might pile up on cholesterol with all that, right?"

"What are you talking about?" Carmina ignored. "I'm no old geezer. Besides, dad said that for our age we need a lot of protein for our muscles." Her slightly toned and athletic figure was proof that she took her father's word well — perhaps too well.

They eventually found a vacant spot for them to sit in, a set of tables near one of the windows. Carmina may have noticed yet another student sitting there and once again made the first move in greeting. "Hey Olive," she said as she began to get into her seat. "What's up?" Jackson, Skye and Carmina sat on the seats that were opposite the window, while Anastasia, Avena and Leif sat opposite them.

"That amount of cholesterol could either kill ya, or make ya gain some weight, ya know.", said a redheaded male student passing by their tables, commenting on the amount of meat on the tray of another redheaded student, only that she was a girl. "Just saying."

He went off, away from their tables, trying to find a lone table for him to finish his lunch, which is a combination of meat dumplings, pasta, and a cup of warm black coffee.

"Crap.. This place is filled with too much people..", he muttered. Even the corners, which are mainstream locations for eating your luch alone is filled with people! Damn!

He gave up. He found a random table, filled with a group of students, seemingly a team, with only one spot is empty. He headed off towards there, and quickly sat down. "Don't mind me.", he said curtly towards them, while munching on his dumplings.

Avena laughed at Carmina's reaction to her and Leif's love connection. She knew that the meet thought of it would put Carmina on edge. Predicting her reaction made it all the more sweeter. Eventually, they'll warm up to the idea. Avena, herself, had a few love interests of her own, but was not ready to deal with them.

The group, along with Skye and Anna, made it to the cafeteria and got in line. Following Carmina's example, Avena stacked up on meat and vegetables filled with protein. She also stacked a second plate full of deserts and food items filled to the brim with sugar, much to the surprise of Jackson and Leif. The group found a table near the windows and sat down. Avena began to scarf down the food with ferocious speed. Once again, looking like a crazed animal that hasn't eaten in days. She looked up and watched as Jackson comment on Carmina's plate, saying that it had too much cholesterol in it. Carmina reputed saying that her father said that protein is good for a warrior.

" Yeah...my pop said the say thing, but also says sugar is good for energy...especially useful for my sporadic fighting style." Avena added as she talked with her mouth full of steak and cake. She went back to eating her food rapidly. Glancing up, she saw a red headed guy walk past, also commenting on Carmina's plate. " Hey, Carmina. I think he just called up fat." Avena said before swallowing her food.
