Stormwrath wrote:Weeks later…

Jackson took a deep breath as he gazed at the Emerald Forest before him. Indeed, the cliff was magnificent, with the forest stretching as far as the horizon, but he wasn't there to enjoy it. In his hand was a weapon that was clearly not his Apertor. Instead, it was more of a prototype blade with a similar design motif that he had been working on for many days. Turning his body away from the forest and towards the targets that were set up nearby, he got into a combat stance and prepared himself for the moment where he will hack those targets to pieces. He hoped that this was it.

Charging towards the targets, Jackson took a dash and sliced a few of the stationary targets. So far, so good. The sword was cutting like it was supposed to, and it's weight was manageable for someone like him. He should probably work on his handle grip — it seemed like it could need a little more lengthening — but hey, that was trial and error. After cutting down the stationary targets, he proceeded to take on the moving targets that were going back and forth across a certain contraption. Wanting to test his weapon's alternate configuration, he held the sword with both hands and the blade suddenly retracted in a mechanical and automated fashion.

However, one of the moving parts locked, and it felt like it was already heating up. In fact, it heated up to the point where the handle became hot to the touch. By his reflexes he dropped the weapon, and it fell to the ground with a thud. Smoke was starting to come out of the "half-sword-half-gun," followed by a loud pop. Jackson placed his palm over his head and sighed to himself as he tilted his head up to the clouds. Not again…

En route to the Cafeteria

"To be honest, I never really understood what Professor Lewiston was trying to say," Carmina walked beside Avena with her hands behind her head. To her, history may be interesting, but it was certainly hard to connect the dots with everything. "I mean, I get the Faunus War and all, but I don't see how the Battle at Fort Castle was exactly a turning point and stuff like that — you know what I mean, right?"

"Not really," Leif followed behind, placing his hands on his roaring belly. "All I could think of is my stomach. By the way, have you seen Jackson around?"

Carmina shrugged. "I dunno, he said he was going to catch up with us later." She has no idea where the fox faunus went off to, but she hoped that he can keep his word. Hopefully he won't skip lunch like last time, or like many times before.

Other students just like them were also heading to the cafeteria to have lunch. For many, the cafeteria is an opportunity to get to know classmates better outside of class and talk about a plethora of things, since they don't have to deal with the teacher eyeing them and calling them out. Plus, for a cafeteria it has pretty good food — perhaps too good, even by Hunter academy standards.

She may have spotted a certain student in her class going to the cafeteria as well — someone that may have attended the same class earlier. She must be; after all she did seem familiar to her. Was that Anna? She decided to get her attention. "Hey Anna," she greeted. "Guessing you're hungry as well, huh? Wanna come eat with us?"

" Yeah, I don't really get it either. " Avena chimed in, her hands deep in the pockets of her targeted leather jacket. " I just think Faunus are badass as hell. The things that some of them are capable of are totally awesome. Kinda makes me wish I was one...with out all the racism." Avena paused for a moment. " Then again, history and social divides are not really my thing. I prefer fighting to equal rights. I don't care who's a Faunus or not. I'm all about the bang bang pow." She said as she moved her hand around like a gun.

Avena glanced at Leif when he mentioned their missing leader, Jackson. " Yeah, where is out fearless leader?" Avena said as she looked around. " I swear, he's been rather off for the past few weeks, almost as soon as I gained Severance. He is one moody Faunus." She said as they entered the cafeteria. She followed Carmina up to where Anna was sitting alone. She had a big smile on her face as Carmina asked Anna to join her. " Come on, join us! We can tell each other badass moments in the field!" Avena said as she got right up to Anna's face, a few centimeters for touching foreheads.

Sirina backed up a bit, and waved her left hand around in a 'calm down' sort of way. She kept her right hand on her cane. She took a second to make sure escape was possible before she spoke.

Sirina Zezili

"Hey. I may listen in to conversations I'm not part of, but that doesn't mean I know how to keep a secret." She said as she "looked" at the teachers weapon. Now she was getting nervous, if things went sour, Sirina could probably get one blast of sound out and knock the teacher away, but then she couldn't sustain a fight against the teacher. If it was another student, without a doubt Sirina could win, but with this teacher, or any teacher the odds where slim.

Sirina then backed up slightly, "But if you keep threatening me, I might just squeal. And when I squeal, I'll make sure everyone hears it..." She put her hand out, "But I won't want to do that, nor do I think you want that to happen, so I'll ask you..... Please stop trying to intimidate me, or threaten me, or etcetra."

"Funny thing you should mention sound being your semblance," Reina says with a grin, regardless that it may not be seen. "You see, Blinks, when you're dealing with sensory manipulation, you're a bit smoked."
A slight pause.
"How does it feel to go 'blind'?"

She cuts off the sound to Sirina. Alternating between harsh white noise and total silence for several seconds.

"Must really suck," she says with a smirk when she's through. "So, yes, avoid trouble like a good student."

Sonitusia wrote:Mentari held in her hands a tray filled with an assortment of typical academy gourmet, all in a balanced and nutritious amount. Looking around, she couldn't help but smile at the sight of the entire room, filled with so many students simply eating and chatting, enjoying the afternoon break before they would continue onto their next class. There were still many people she had yet to meet, and she couldn't help but think about all the possibilities that could occur.

She also enjoyed the uniform she now wore. Sure it wasn't as stylish as Atlas Academy's garb, but it made her feel warm and fuzzy to be similar to the rest.

Hopping into a seat before someone could take it, she noticed she had chosen the spot across from Lucas. "Hey there!" she greeted, tossing a tater tot into her mouth, "what's up?"

Between breaths and bites Lucas said, "Yo, nothing much Mentari, just enjoying this!"

And waved a slice of pizza he had in his hand before continuing "How about you? Anything new?"
As he shoved his hand deep into his mountain of food before pulling out a chicken drumstick, to which Lucas' eyes went starry as he began chowing down on that as well.

"Hey where is Chess and Charlotte by the way, we have our private team training later this week remember?"

"Hey don't do that crap!" Lucas exclaimed, gathering himself back up, "How long have you been behind her back?!?"

"Anyways, Chess we got a team training later, help us make sure the Cap knows...and comes, we can't have a team without her...not to mention we have Operation: Happy Thoughts for Charlotte read right?"

"I suppose I was just enjoying the scenery," Mentari replied. When Chess reappeared behind Lucas, she giggled and tossed a tater tot at the cute boy-girl. "So how is our training going to be done again?"

She began to eat her food, which was rice and meat, something she typically ate at home. It was a perfect balance of carbs and protein, which would help with her growth. What kind of growth she wouldn't admit.

"Gahh! Chess what did I say!?!" Lucas said, even more startled than before, if that was even possible and tried to push Chess away frantically while he was still attached to his ear, apparently embarrassed and annoyed, the red faced Lucas began trying to take deep breaths to keep cool.

"And of course I know your name, jeez I'm not a complete idiot." Lucas said sarcastically before turning to Mentari, chewing on the bone of the chicken drumstick now,
"Well, basically we are gonna train of course, fighting together as a team, that stuff, team attacks blah blah, practice combining and using our semblances in teamwork to make them stronger and make us unstoppable...the usual y'know? But Chess and I came up with an idea to help with Charlotte's semblance which you know depends on her emotions that can affect others, if she is in a goodish mood she can make us fight stronger, faster, and be happier too, but in a bad mood we get in a worse mood and acts as a literal signal flare for any Grimm nearby to come closer, and get strengthened by negative thoughts but...It's a surprise."

Still freeing himself from Chess he winked at Mentari with a grin as wide as ever saying, "Trust me, it's gonna be great, it's just gotta work."

Mentari raised a finger. "Wouldn't it be most logical to just not have her around?" she suggested, "Then we don't have to worry about getting our thoughts all in a jungle."

She let that thought hang in the air.

Sirina Zezili

Sirina kept a calm face when her sense of hearing was cut off. When she heard the voice of the teacher again, she smiled.

"Nice trick. Do you know what causes sounds? Vibrations in the air waves that create waves at different frequencies. Sound is the effect of these vibrations and waves." Sirina started, "I admit I couldn't hear any sound, but I could still detect these waves and vibrations. And using those waves I can still sorta 'see', though blurred. That is the premise behind part of my semblance."

"I won't tell anyone. Besides if I wanted to, I could have any time in those last weeks. But to ensure I remain silent, I have one thing to ask of you." She smirked, "Don't call me Blinks for one. But to be more serious, just let me be. Alright."

Sirina Zezili

Sirina just looked at her. So something bad is going to happen, a fight, and she suggests I run.... I take who I care for and run... her grip tightened on her cane, Run and live if it the sort of situation I think she is meaning. Or fight and possibly die.... I'll have to think more about that....

She smiled slightly, This teacher acts all tough and scary.... But deep down, I think she does have a heart.... It will explain why I am still alive, why that other student was able to call her bluff, and why she warns me.

"I'll remember that and think about it." Sirina said.

'Jugo, no, not now, we don't have to fight anything yet.'

Aw but dude...

I know but still, her other personas are making me get to the end of my nerves.

'Likewise.' He blinked several times and the haze disappeared in the wind.

"Well, I guess that if you have friends, it's actually pretty alright.
It's at least somewhat good you can tolerate your team, especially with you being their leader and all."

She looked down and lowered her voice.

"Then there's... Charlie..."

Keep it together.

Keep it together.

Pull yourself together, girl, you're stronger than this!

"On the upside, though, I do have a few friends for once, which is good."

Theriam's tone lowered as his red eye emitted a strange haze of the same color, almost making it glow.

'Jugo, no, not now, we don't have to fight anything yet.'

Aw but dude...

'It's in her mind, I can't just pop into her mind like I did with the Ripple, I can only use it to a fifteenth of the power I used to be able to pull off.
No way I can pull a strong enough overdrive. Even a normal one is out of the question.'

She nodded, and a worried look flashed across her face.

"I still don't know who thought it was a good idea to put me in charge of them..."

Then she lowered her voice.

"I think they're planning something... Or at least, Lucas and Chess are. They've been acting weird around me lately."

Best case scenario... they're planning something.

Worst case scenario...

Shut up.

Yes, Mom.

Theriam shrugged as he laid down on the grass.

"At least they're good people.
I mean, they seem like it, and once I explained what had been happening in your dorm room, Lucas and the two other blokes were pretty much fine with me.
Although maybe Mentari's a bit wary of me, I can't seem to be able to read her very well.
I just may be tired too, after all, I've gone several days without sleeping again.
I should sleep tonight, or take a short nap." He spoke shortly, covering his right eye.

'I hope she won't ask me about the eye thing, it's a thing Leonard made me do at some point and now I can't seem to get rid of it.
I can even trigger it on purpose when I want to be intimidating.
Although it often activates when you are around Jugo.'

I am your berserker persona after all, it's only natural I change some stuff outwardly.
And even so, when you're angry, you either have that or your eye bursts into flames.
Might as well be the haze.

'True.'

"Of course, if you you do run," Reina says looking back for a moment, grinning. "Then you'll just be hunted down later. Prey which fights back gets first priority."

Ah... There really is no point in keeping up this farce for much longer... Sorry, Oz, I'm sure you thought I'd change...

'True.'

Her face turned red as she remembered the events of that night.

"I've been meaning to talk to you about that... We both know that didn't mean anything, right? I mean, I was scared, and emotionally vulnerable, I wasn't really... in my right mind... and then later, I know what I said, but I would have said pretty much anything to get you to hang on, I mean you're my best friend and all, but I don't like you in that way, I was just trying to get you to stay alive... didn't actually mean anything..." She forced a laugh.

Ow, that even hit me.
The outer friendzone is strong.

'Eh, I wasn't planning to go that far, although it's true that getting shot down that hard hurts a little bit.'

Outwardly, Theriam just smiled and chuckled.

"It was a given, after all, no point in going that far for me after all.
I'm just someone who wants to be a hunter for fun.
Just like my brother, I've already accepted the fact that those kinds of feelings may never come to me, if anything, the suspension bridge effect may have helped during that night." The man spoke, opening only his left eye.

'Even though I know your inner feelings.'

She sat back, considering.

"Yeah... besides, even if I wanted to feel love I wouldn't know how, so it's a good thing I don't want to feel it... Heh."

Then she paused.

"Why are you winking at me?"
