When the results were in, Kivi was elected into the Livonian parliament, along with several other Communists.
As the crisis intensified, many officials, including the President of Livonia, succumbed to the disease. This lead to its own crisis, with members of parliament debating about how to proceed. This led to gridlock, which Kivi took advantage of. He and members of the Communist party devised a plan to take over the government. After weeks of preparation, the stage was set. On December 19th, Kivi declared himself Premier of Livonia, backing up his claims with militant members of the party. This became known as the December Revolution.
The Revolution had sparked a minor civil conflict, as the Latvians did not want a communist leader once more. However, after a few weeks of violence after the revolution, Kivi was the undisputed leader of Livonia. He made sweeping changes at first. Not long after, Livonia left the EU, with Kivi declaring "The supposed Union has only created chaos for every member. This also lead to the creation of the People's Police, the Inimeste Politsei. This group can be comparable to something like the Politburo of the USSR or the SS of Nazi Germany. They were created with the intent to protect the party's interests in the public, but it soon became something more wicked. After they were created, the group targeted certain minorities that the Premier declared "Unfit to live a Baltic lifestyle." IP Agents were sent out to find these citizens and purposely expose them to the CB-001 virus in order to disguise their crimes. This operation, however, was quickly ended after the killings spread the disease even further.
Things remained relatively stable over the next year; Even though many were still dying from the Chinese Fever, the outbreak was beginning to slow. Kivi's primary policies of Baltic Nationalism and military build-up were beginning to take effect. However, things were not going so well for Livonia's Western neighbor. Lithuania had also been hard-it by the pandemic, though it failed to respond fast enough or effectively. As such, it was in a state of chaos. After a formal request by the Lithuanians to the Livonians, Kivi annexed Lithuania in order to restore order. From this, he created a new nation: The Union of Livonian Socialist States. The recent expansion created two states: The Livonian SS and the Lithuanian SS.
Livonia continued its programs in Lithuania just as it had in the homeland, though there was a difference. The Lithuanian SS created a regional government in Vilnius in order to oversee local needs, though was still subservant to the Regime in Tallinn. This is how things remained, until July 2nd, 2025. In Poland, there was unrest in the port of Gdansk. In an ironic twist of fate, the first part of Poland to denounce communism in the Cold War was now the first part to demand it now. The port and its surrounding areas declared independence from Poland, sparking a crisis in the Baltic. This was a crisis that Kivi did not look past. In fact, he believed it could be the first time that he could display Livonia's military muscle.
On the night of July the 10th, military aircraft flew over the city under the cover of darkness. Hundreds of soldiers parachuted into the city, with two Livonian ships entering the harbor that same night. The soldiers took the city with little bloodshed, though there were two gun fights. The city of Gdansk had been effectively annexed by Livonia, admitting it as a new territory of the Lithuanian SS.
Various offensives were launched in the 8 year span between 2025 and 2032, including a Belarussian campaign in 2028, a Russian offensive in 2031, and, most recently, a Finnish offensive in late 2032. All 3 were successful to a point; Belarus was almost completely annexed, St. Petersburg was captured with a few other territories in the North, and Southern Finland has been almost completely secured. However, there has been plenty of resistance in the region. The government has placed the Finnish SS under martial law until the infighting ends, though no one knows when that will be.
