Well like I said it would be an NPC that you two can manipulate how you please. At least, in my proposal it was.

Africa is rather under crowded, so it might be more interesting to land yourself there. Or you can jump into the forever chaos that is Europe.

Or I might do a surviving Inca Empire, but S. America is completely empty except for Brazil, and there isn't much to do in Africa since the Sahara and lack of naval technology prevents much involvement outside of the local area, so it's either Rhineland or Taurica.

Well, i'm throwing around the Idea of a surviving Aztec or Mayan empire. SO having the Inca as a foe of sorts could prove interesting.

Quite frankly I would like to see a surviving Incan Empire and was hoping someone would do it. You could easily harass Portuguese Brazil as the Inca, or RP their Westernization.

Mayhaps they fled southward. A southern Mayan Empire would be more plausible than a southern aztec remnant.

Never mind that one. That was for a Japanese shogunate with Islamic beliefs.

"The Sun Rises Over Japan"

Full Nation Name: The Most Serene Shogunate of Japan

Short Nation Name: Japan

National Flag:
Image

Territory: Japan, plus one or two islands of Hawai'i.

Official Language(s): Japanese

Form of Government: Imperial Monarchy

Head of State: Emperor Higashiyama Asahito

Head of Government: Shogun Tokugawa Kosuke

Capital City: Kyoto

Population: 27,887,000

Religion: There are two primary religions within Japan: Buddhism and Shintoism. Though Shintoism holds a slight majority over Buddhism in terms of population of practice, Buddhism is growing slowly to become as popular(if not more so). However, there is relatively little competition between the two faiths for followers. Often, Japanese can practice both at the same time. One is not contradictory to the other, and villages and cities host believers of both.

Army:
Total Host: 175,670
First Field Army
  • 20 Infantry Regiments, composed of Ashigaru and several elite Samurai to lead the Regiment.
  • 8 Artillery Regiments
  • 7 Cavalry Regiment

2nd Mountain Army
  • 25 Mountain Infantry Regiments, which include Hantas. Hantas are the marksmen of the Japanese army. And are trained to use and maintain the much more fragile and much more expensive rifles of the Army.
  • 9 Artillery Regiments, mostly stationary artillery
  • 1 Cavalry Regiment

3rd Field Army
  • 14 Infantry Regiments
  • 11 Artillery Regiments
  • 10 Cavalry Regiment

4th Imperial Guard
  • 16 Infantry Regiments
  • 13 Artillery Regiments
  • 6 Cavalry Regiments

5th Shock Army
  • 14 Infantry Regiments
  • 6 Artillery Regiments
  • 15 Cavalry Regiments

Navy: The Navy is considered just as important to the Shogunate as the Army in 1705. For the most part, the Japanese Navy uses smaller and swifter ships with less guns but considerably more maneuverability to command the Pacific Seas around it. The Navy(not counting dozens of merchant vessels) contains 9 Ships-of-The-Line and 30 Man-Of-Wars, 120 Frigates, and hundreds of Japanese Sloops and Galleys. The Navy also makes use of about a 25,000 strong Marine Corps.

Economic Strength: For the most part, the Shogunate is quite wealthy. Mainly, this abundance of wealth is due to several naval trade routes through Asia and Europe.

Infrastructure: Being one of the primary concerns of the Shogunate, the infrastructure of Japan is fairly well maintained. Though cross-island travel is not as easy, roads threading through the island are fairly well maintained. Rural areas are slightly less advanced, and thus are harder to access.

Primary Goals:
  • Dominate the Pacific Ocean
  • Further explore and exploit the islands of Hawai'i.
  • Deter aggression from expansionist nations in the West(including mainland Asia).

History: In this timeline of Japanese history, the point of divergence is 1281 CE. In 1281, the Mongols attempted the Second Mongol Invasion. In this timeline, the invasion succeeded. A typhoon did not break up the incursion, and the Mongols swiftly and efficiently swept through Japan. In the Siege of Kyoto, Emperor Go-Saga officially surrendered his status to the Mongol leader Kublai Khan. Kublai, being merciful, spared the affluent(and royal) families of Japan.

After the invasion, many of the Japanese simply went about their regular way of life. The Mongols did not seriously disrupt any aspect of life for a majority of Japanese natives. In fact, the Mongols brought prosperity to Japan in the form of diversified crops and new farm animals. This improved diet improved the healthy of the Japanese by a significant margin, and eventually led to much higher birth rates.

These new, massive generations became progressively less pleased with Mongolian dominion over the Japanese lands. And, in 1517 C.E., the generation known as the "Restoring Generation" organized a nationalist revolt against the Mongolians. Led by Higaya Aiko, the generation catalysed an armed conflict against the central Mongolian ruling dynasty that would last for forty years. The dynasty, weakened by their generally stagnant state over the last 200 years, was not in a position to resist a peasant uprising. And, in 1541, the Mongolians finally ceded the seat of power back to the Japanese. They summarily left the country, and searched for greater exploits.

However, this was not the end of Japanese troubles. The Restoring Generation, now led by the son of Higaya, Daichi, was extremely divided upon how and who Japanese rule should be given to. Several influential persons within the generation met in Kyoto to discuss the issue, but the moot only ended in argument. In 1543 C.E., after two years of tension between the leaders, a vicious, multi-pronged civil war broke out between the warlords. The war, come to be known as The Dividing War, technically lasted about sixty years. However, there were multiple lulls in bloodshed that only served for the warlords to catch their breath before releasing their wrath on one other once again.

In 1601, several of the shoguns united under one banner. This alliance, known as the Union of the Rising Sun, fought and eventually defeated the remaining rogue warmongers across Japan. The process of bringing these men to heel lasted until 1603, and became known as the Grand Unification. This unification led to the formation of the Tokugawa dynasty, which has ruled since 1603.

The Tokugawa dynasty, believing the Mongol invasion to be the root cause of all the bloodshed in Japan, elected to take as many measures to ensure that this type of dominion over Japan would never happen again. The dynasty commenced the process known as Kenjutsu(Way of the Sword). This was the promise - and subsequent maintenance - of keeping Japan's military both up to date and ready to deter any threat that may wander towards the country. This process, the Shogunate believed, would both keep Japan protected and create opportunities for both trade and expansion of Japan's culture to other areas. Kenjutsu had become a way of life in Japan, and by 1705 walking the path of the military was considered both honorable and acceptable for any class of individual.

RP Example: Discussed through Telegram.

As a trading post colony, it's not any better or worse than Angola. And in the RP day and age, trading posts are the only reason for any African colonisation anyway.

For those of you still looking for a nation I would suggest the looking at the following nations; Incan Empire, Mali, Songhai Empire, Kingdom of Kongo, a surviving Sultanate of Bengal or the Bruneian Empire.

This nation should not be taken to be representative of my real-life views, nor should any of the nonsense I posted on here as a teenager.
