At least in the case of Arkadacia (the main group in Tinell), I just sort of went with something that fit the people the most. In my case, it was a Norse/Celtic/Greek influenced polythiesm sort of thing. What are the people of your nation for?

They share DNA with modern europeans, specially Russians and Germans. However, the nation is located near Asia, usually were Japan would be at, So Japanese culture does have influence on it.(Canonly, Japan is located just south of it)

Well, if you don't want to base it off of Christianity, do some research into East Asian religions. Maybe look into some of the Siberian beliefs, Confucian stuff, Shinto...

Being near Japan, Shinto could do. It's a beautiful religion, too.
If not Shinto, then general spirit/ancestor worship? China even still has pockets of Ancestor worship today.
