The problem is that I'm not always sure of whether a word in my vocabulary is Standard English or a Canadianism. Sometimes I have to look things up to make sure, but there have probably been a couple of times before when words have slipped by me unnoticed.

And of course, there are also the words that I'm pretty sure don't have an equivalent in other dialects (or all the quasi-synonyms that are from other dialects sound too weird and I don't want to use any of them) (see tuque), and then I have a dilemma on my hands. And the words that refer to something that only has a word for it in Canada, because the referred-to thing doesn't exist in other countries (see poutine, loonie, toonie, reserve, chinook). I'm not always sure what to do with those.
