I will never stop recommending this blog. It's a beautiful resource site for military sci-fi aficionados, the guy's writing style is fun and easygoing and he knows his military stuff without being a rabid crypto-fascist. Also, most importantly, he hates Warhammer and its misuse of the term "marine".

He sure is melodramatic about Medal of Honor, though.

Some people jerk off to Star Wars games wanting to be Jedi or Boba Fett (who is uber-cool BTW), some wet their panties playing a Starfleet captain or donning armor and going on a magical quest. That's not my point - I just mean the general tone of it is so ridiculously childish that it makes me laugh. He sounds like an NSG summerfriend who plays COD for 18 hours a day (or MoH, I should say!).
I mean, if I heard someone say something like that in real life, I'd be pointing at him with one hand and making jerkoff motions with the other the second he turned his back (probably to go do unspeakable things to his MoH disc).

A friend of mine on FB came up with an idea for a CoD sequel that basically takes the series to its only remaining logical conclusion - a war against Lovecraftian eldritch forces that you simultaneously war against and worship (as, after all, the act of killing is nothing more than a sacrififce to the same gods you're supposedly fighting). All the meaningless military jargon technobabble these games revel in is revealed for what it really is - just another dialect of the Elder Ones, used to summon them, curse them and beg for their favor, which would really put a new spin on calling in an artillery strike. There are no "sides", nothing like that - just an endless orgy of pointless tacticool slaughter in the worshipful service of the only Gods humanity ever really cared for: the Gods of Killing The Hell Out Of Shit.

Of course, the final boss is a combination bald eagle fetus/Teddy Roosevelt/nuclear aircraft carrier/Predator drone that flies and is the size of Texas.

But it doesn't necessarily change the fact that that's the honest impression I get. His hysterical screaming about how EA "murdered" Medal of Honor - which, come on, it was a mediocre game in an oversaturated marketplace, something like that doesn't take too much murdering - really does seem more than a little bit silly. Coupled with his overheated wannabe-badass rhetoric about how his dream is to go out and be a killin' badass like them guys in his games is - presuming he is a grown man - again, a bit silly at best and actively worrying at worst.
I love studying war, and I love writing war stories, but I'm in touch with reality enough not to labor under the pretension that I'd actually enjoy killing somebody, or that I actively fantasize about doing so.

Anyways, I'm sure he's an expert military writer, and some of his analyses of nerdy stuff were a bit interesting. That MoH article was just bizarre.

Pretty good, and the author also promises supplements that will revolve about, amongst other things, using the power of music to defeat big space monsters and other baddies.
