So since this is a restaurant, is it possible for me to order some country-fried chicken, with biscuits and gravy on the side?
This nation does not reflect my personal beliefs.
NS game stats do not describe this nation well at all.

Economic Left/Right: -2.12
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.64

Transyl: They're new. Now it's time for me to greet the new comer the way I know best, by dropping a nuke on them. And if they survive my attack, then I will allow them to live on and never bother them again.
Halstus: The sole survivor takes you up on this offer. Since you will allow him to live on, he spends the rest of his life bombing your cities and indulging in his apparent political immunity.
Transyl: Eh I promised I would leave you alone, that doesn't mean my allies can't destroy you!
Halstus: He's in your nation now. To destroy him, they must bomb you.

@Taigawa: This subforum is P2TM. We don't do roleplay with our NS nations here.

@Halstus: Eh, we don't really do much of any roleplay in this thread. The name's misleading.

If what you want some help with is making the OOC thread, then I would advise you to check out this thread. If you'd like further advice on the topic of thread creation, feel free to ask, though since P2TM and II sometimes differ in how things are played out in each subforum, any advice I can give you might not be wholly appropiate.

And I can't help much on the topic of war :P.

I have come to the conclusion that the Marines on the tanker in Metal Gear Solid 2 are either retarded or have really really bad peripheral vision.

Of course the same can be said for most Metul Geer enemies, but come on. I expect it to be a little harder to sneak past them when there's so many in one place.

Well, not all theories are perfect.
I took quite a lot of base in my experience, and I've seen a lot of people losing interest in my days. I appreciate criticism, though.

Yeah, I understand that. I don't contest that interest loss is one of the main culprits of widespread RP death. What I disagree with is, mostly, the statement that there is only so much interest a person has and that it must inevitably burn out.

Of course, it is entirely possible that I may be in the wrong here, since I too am drawing from my experiences and I could simply happen to have an unusually long attention span or something, but still, that's my opinion.

Nonetheless, good essay.

One thing I'd point out is that to me it seems unnecessary and a bit misleading to say things such as "The death of a roleplay begins when you click the Create Thread button" or "So it's your fault that it died - you created it", but that's just me.

Yeah. I would not be so opposed to a statement parallel to the one which says that our path to the grave begins on our birth, but the notion that every parent ever is a murderer, possibly a serial one, is a a bit silly. :P

Alleniana wrote:

I like this a lot. To be frank, I imagine a lot of people could have claimed to have known this, essentially, beforehand, but it's very good at putting it into words and elaborating where others might only have a more vague idea. Also, enjoy the inclusion of nation RPs, which usually doesn't happen anywhere except where they congregate. Only places where I disagree/criticise;
1. A reboot will only be less successful if it was influenced by the first one. If you reboot an RP that had a failed takeoff there's no reason it might not have better luck and take off into later stages. Or, if you reboot it in such a way that very fundamentally alters it, as in MiM 1 vs 2, or the reboot is simply a continuation for, perhaps, such purposes as changing OP.
2. Emphasis on players who leave is a tad much; a not-insignificant minority had structures that allow this to be much less significant, especially modular (i.e. portals connecting universes that are liable to shut off) or mechanic-based ones.
3. Some alternative models/ideas don't really fit in, to a degree (e.g. the overwhelmed OP, colliding visions for the direction of the RP, interest being leached to other RPs), though I can't blame you for leaving those out.
4. "even though being out of schedule lowered the hype a bit" actually, it was quite on schedule :P I purposefully stretched the schedule to prevent myself from being overwhelmed by the "early craze". Addendum to that; perhaps you could do a bit more on the role hype plays, as well as on interest/planning threads, which is a somewhat more grey area.

Mmm, I thought it was quite accurate, at least for most of the RPs I've been in. Character RPs do tend to be (at least popularly perceived as) more long lived, though, so perhaps it works differently on that side of the gap.
