If you'd like further advice on the topic of thread creation, feel free to ask, though since P2TM and II sometimes differ in how things are played out in each subforum, any advice I can give you might not be wholly appropiate.

Pros of Besiege: It's great fun. I especially enjoyed building bigger and more ridiculous gun carriages, like an artillery tank with three rows of six cannons.
Cons of Besiege: It's really hard to control flying machines and it needs a decent graphics card to run. Integrated cards aren't nearly good enough.

Another con; it costs money, and for a poor bugger like me, that means torrent is the automatic recourse, but for the fact that my dad doesn't want torrent software on our computers.

This is one of my favorite little quirky things in the whole world. It's so whimsical.

I took quite a lot of base in my experience, and I've seen a lot of people losing interest in my days. I appreciate criticism, though.

Yeah, I understand that. I don't contest that interest loss is one of the main culprits of widespread RP death. What I disagree with is, mostly, the statement that there is only so much interest a person has and that it must inevitably burn out.

Of course, it is entirely possible that I may be in the wrong here, since I too am drawing from my experiences and I could simply happen to have an unusually long attention span or something, but still, that's my opinion.

Nonetheless, good essay.

Yeah. I would not be so opposed to a statement parallel to the one which says that our path to the grave begins on our birth, but the notion that every parent ever is a murderer, possibly a serial one, is a a bit silly.

Thought you guys may be interested, since you face it a lot.

I like this a lot. To be frank, I imagine a lot of people could have claimed to have known this, essentially, beforehand, but it's very good at putting it into words and elaborating where others might only have a more vague idea. Also, enjoy the inclusion of nation RPs, which usually doesn't happen anywhere except where they congregate. Only places where I disagree/criticise;
1. A reboot will only be less successful if it was influenced by the first one. If you reboot an RP that had a failed takeoff there's no reason it might not have better luck and take off into later stages. Or, if you reboot it in such a way that very fundamentally alters it, as in MiM 1 vs 2, or the reboot is simply a continuation for, perhaps, such purposes as changing OP.
2. Emphasis on players who leave is a tad much; a not-insignificant minority had structures that allow this to be much less significant, especially modular (i.e. portals connecting universes that are liable to shut off) or mechanic-based ones.
3. Some alternative models/ideas don't really fit in, to a degree (e.g. the overwhelmed OP, colliding visions for the direction of the RP, interest being leached to other RPs), though I can't blame you for leaving those out.
4. "even though being out of schedule lowered the hype a bit" actually, it was quite on schedule I purposefully stretched the schedule to prevent myself from being overwhelmed by the "early craze". Addendum to that; perhaps you could do a bit more on the role hype plays, as well as on interest/planning threads, which is a somewhat more grey area.

Mmm, I thought it was quite accurate, at least for most of the RPs I've been in. Character RPs do tend to be (at least popularly perceived as) more long lived, though, so perhaps it works differently on that side of the gap.
