Surprisingly, Siam was powerful in South-East Asia, before the French moved in, ripped away Cambodia and Laos, and forced them to pay money. Like a lazy cousin who moves in with you, reserves a Bedroom and Bathroom for only himself, and drains your money.

And by the way, you do have an Empire. You own Laos and North-Western Cambodia. All in all, that's about 2,000,000 more people.

Thanks for the population for those two areas, I'm not really knowledgeable in demographics of nations from the 19th century and below. Siam was also a top choice for me as well. I chose it for mainly two reasons which are White Elephants and the fact I am partially of the Thai ethnicity.

They own colonies all over the place, though their power is greatly reduced from it's former state due to several large hegemonic wars in Europe. Italy is Italy. Hell, it isn't even completely united yet. It couldn't win against the Austrian Empire without Major French help, and at this point in time is a general all-around weakling.

Spain is far stronger then Italy currently is. It maintains several large colonies, such as the Phillipines, Peurto Rico, and Cuba. It has a large Navy. And a Socialist Revolution is just as likely there, due to discontent with the King of Spain and his ministers.

I think they had 20-something wars. Burma won all the early ones and turned Thailand into a Tributary state. But then Thailand went into badass mode, built up it's military and economy, united under a strong leader, in contrast to Burma's King who had a weak hold on his throne, and, not surprisingly, they won all of the later wars against Burma. The only reason Burma isn't part of Thailand today is because the Brits annexed it.

I also fail to see how you could unite Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay, and the Galapagos in only 20 years. Many have tried. Many have failed. It simply isn't possible to unite southern South America with the technology of 1861. You need to explain how this happened.

It's impossibru. The French in French Guiana would hear of it, and the British in Guyana, and the Dutch in Suriname. And they in turn would tell the rest of the world.
