The dams are very heavily guarded, it is in Kurdistan so it has to be. Also the Syrians do not like it so it has to be heavily guarded even more. As well as this, its protection will be stepped up after the Istanbul attack (along with other important sites)

You do know the massive majority of Turks will support the government. The attack on Istanbul will have made them unbelievably angry. Turkey is one if the most patriotic countries on earth, if there is an anti-government protest, there will likely be a pro-government one of around the same size

It is unlikely he will be shot down but he is seriously injured (the roof collapsed so many bones will be broken and he may be burnt from the fire)
