I really only do character RPs, which was what I had hoped this RP would be. But looking at the poll, people wanted to do a nation/faction RP which I'm not the biggest fan of. So if someone wants to make it, go ahead.

Hello everyone,

There is a SOON to be Middle Earth roleplay hosted by the region of Middle Earth and if you want to join it, you're more than welcomed to do so. We've had it in the past for a few times, although the last one happened close to 4 years ago. Its actually taking place on the regional message board of Middle Earth Roleplay.

The roleplay has quite a few mechanics (we also have a FAQ) so that might not be for everyone (basically its similar to the tabletop strategy game of Diplomacy where you're the leader of a faction, with added roleplay elements and some other things). There's a limit of 14 players having factions (and owning provinces in the game) and I am going to start the roleplay if we get the 14 players (we've done it before with less players and the burden to play as 5-7 NPCs fell on me )

Right now I am finishing up last details in the FAQ, updating the map looks and pondering about a roleplay recruitment message, but these should be complete and online by tomorrow.

We are recruiting players for the roleplay from within the region and are expanding to the regions we have open embassies with. In a few days I'm also going to check if anyone from the Portal to the Multiverse forum is interested to play.
As we only have 14 spots on the map, the priority is members of Middle Earth, then members of "allied regions" and then invited nations from the forums or elsewhere.

Thought to come here first, as there may still be some Tolkien lore lurkers interested in a roleplay as to give a heads-up.

Do you allow people not in your region to join the RP?

Yes.

Although the RP is primarly aimed at the enjoyment of the members of our province, we do not have (by far) 14 roleplayers in Middle Earth. Especially RPers with experience (most of us are novice, at best).

The actual roleplay will take place on the RMB of the region Middle Earth Roleplay and every accepted participant is required to create a new NationStates nation and move it there and answer issues (the NS stats affect your army efficiency). The region is password-locked and only the players are to post there on the RMB their IC and OOC messages.

As I previously said, the people from Middle Earth are planning to do a themed roleplay on the regional message board of Middle Earth Roleplay and we're inviting players from our region, our friends regions and from the NS forums.

The roleplay registration period is set to start from the 22nd of February and will last until we get the necessary 14 people that are willing to join and play. We would be honored if any one from this forum (that follows this thread) is willing to join as it can only increase the quality of the RP.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to take a moment of your time to let you know that we (Middle Earth) started the roleplay registration period for that RP I've been teasing about. We have 14 spots on the map (now around 11) and would definitely appreciate having some more experienced roleplayers joining in the fun. We have close to zero experience, but are willing to play for the fun aspect. And for the experience!

With this occasion I took the liberty of TGing a few notable members that I saw active in the past pages. Hope no one minds.

Your RP unfortunately isn't for me. Region and RMB based RP'ing is not something I am interested in but best of luck with it.

Hello fellow Tolkienites,

We are starting the (DnD-like) Middle Earth Roleplay this Sunday, the 14th of June! We decided on 2 map updates per week, on Sunday and on Wednesday. Later we can change this to 1 per week if there are enough people willing to do this (or to any other combination of values and dates).

Right now we have 3 that signed up (from a total of 14 possible slots on the map) and there's enough room for others that are interested. We will most likely post the updates in a new topic in this forum (I thought about posting here but it may be too off topic for the topic direction). We'll see.

Premise: Bilbo never found the Ring, and thus Gollum still has it. Smaug was never slain, for the Dwarves disappeared in Mirkwood. As the War of the Ring approaches, Elves, Men, Hobbits, and Dwarves strive to overthrow a more cautious Sauron, who seeks still for the One.

Pertinent points: Custom factions allowed, within reason. Elven Rings, Lost Essays in Ring-Lore, will pop up from time to time. An implemented recruitment, fortification, and quest system, as well as battle guidelines.

Something easy to comprehend. Needing to occupy a region for a year before recruiting from it, varying recruitment rates based on race, it taking 1000 laborers three months to put up small outpost, that sort of jazz. Nothing hugely impactful, but a way for territory to matter, and the things folk usually ask for, without meaningfully limiting freeform RPing.
