James doesn't often take risks, and if he does, they are calculated ones. If he bothers himself to see you, it'll be behind a shield or at a place with cover he can leap to quickly.

Well it is infrared radiation/light like heat lamps use, but is more concentrated. It is made of light, and it wouldn't go C because it only goes C in a vacuum.
