NS Name: Neo-Assyrian Empire
Nation Name: The Socialist Republic of Mongolia
Capital City: Ulan Bator
Government Type: Marxist-Leninist Single Party State
Alignment: Warsaw Pact
Power Ranking: Regional Power
Head of State: Premier Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal
Claimed Territory: Northern Mongolia on the OP's map
State/National Religion: State Atheism
Dominant Religion: State Atheism
Minority Religion(s): Regional religions
Population: 1,340,000, with around 900,000 of those people living in the capital
Military Organization: The Mongolian People's Army is divided into 15 different divisions, with each division containing 2,000 soldiers on average. The majority of these divisions, the first 7, are devoted to cavalry. The rest are mixed between regular ground infantry, armored divisions, and a mixed aircraft division.
Military Size: ~35,000 Soldiers currently active, with another 10,000 in reserves
National Flag: Flag of the Socialist Republic
Primary Culture: Mongolian
Accepted Cultures: Russian
Other Cultures: Chinese
Primary Import(s): Metal ore, crude oil
Primary Export(s): Refined oil, vehicles
Economy: The economy of North Mongolia currently thrives off of agriculture and mining, although the government is looking to expand it. Because the nation is communist, all agriculture within the nation is collectivized while all other industry is heavily monitored by the State.
Brief Description of your nation's history: Following the Mongolian Patriotic War, known to the rest of the world was the Mongolian Civil War, the Socialist Republic began to focus on reunification with the South and the reclamation of Inner Mongolia from the Chinese. The government, under Premier Yumjaagiin Tsedenbal, believed that the only way that the North could ever reunify with the South is if the North outperforms the South in every way. In a speech he gave in 1963, Tsendenbal declared that "The Mongol people shall one day be unified under a single banner. If our people must bleed to achieve this goal, then it is a necessary sacrifice for the good of the Mongolian people." This would set the stage for things to come under Tsendenbal's regime. He promoted industry and agriculture, while distributing propaganda that would focus on reunification above all else. And now, in the year 1969, Tsendenbal has prepared his nation for reunification. All he needed was backing from Russia in order to regain the South.

(The history is a little short and kind of basic, but a lot of my nation's history was in the OP, so I didn't go into great detail. But if you want a clearer picture of what North Mongolia will be like, imagine North Korea but without the god-like dictator and with decent industry/agriculture. I will flesh out the history if needed.)

Hmm, I'm torn between Mexico or the USSR. I would like to play as a big super power but Mexico is a regional power with alot of potential. Oh what to choose oh what to choose.

EDIT: I barely realized that there was already a reservation for the USSR so just tag me for Mexico please, thanks.

What's unrealistic about it? Franco could have easily annexed the Tangier zone during WW2, Spanish troops took it over without a fight historically, but Franco ended up pulling out in I think 1944 for better relations with the British.

It's not like a just newly-founded nation without an established military is going to stop a European military which can invade from both the north (Ceuta and Melilla), the south (Spanish Sahara) and all along the coast (Franco put a lot of work into refurbishing the navy). With the support of the air force and the use of units like the Spanish Legion which is trained for exactly this kind of purpose (they were usually in Africa anyway) I don't see how Morocco would come out on top in a war.

I mean you're OP and the final call is yours, but I think it's entirely possible.

EDIT: There's also the fact that you said Africa was free for player nations.

Great Nepal wrote:NS Name: Great Nepal
Nation Name: Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Capital City: Moscow
Government Type: Single party republic
Alignment: Warsaw pact
Power Ranking: Superpower
Head of State: Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev
Claimed Territory: USSR territory as described in the map
State/National Religion: Atheism
Dominant Religion: Atheist (60%)
Minority Religion(s): Christianity (of various denominations) and Islam
Population: 240 million
Military Organization:
Military Size: 4.5 million in all, land forces consisting bulk of the number at 210 divisions in all.
National Flag:

Primary Culture: Russian
Accepted Cultures: Ukrainian, Byelorussian, and other Central Asian
Other Cultures: East European
Primary Import(s): Agricultural products, machineries and consumer goods (primarily from eastern block countries enforced by military presence)
Primary Export(s): Petroleum, gas and other raw materials (again primarily to eastern block countries enforced by military presence)
Economy: While still a directed economy, recent reforms accelerated further by growing Chinese threat, has seen greater liberalization of the economy - although you certainly would be shot for suggesting such a thing officially. Soviet economy is still largely reliant upon secondary industry although tertiary sector is growing - primarily at expense of agricultural ones. While not rivalling economy of United States, Soviet economy is a significant force and steadily growing.
Brief (Paragraph) Description of your nation's history: While tensions with the United States have gone down since Cuban crisis, overall level of paranoia felt by the leadership and people has remained the same - if not grown although now looking south towards Chinese neighbour rather than towards west. Chinese actions have sent shock wave throughout the soviet leadership and in some circles (although not officially) viewed as worse than capitalism: after all capitalists are merely resisting an inevitable process whereas the Maoists are actively diverting away from it and fracturing communism as a result.

Leadership, notably younger compared to previous incarnations under Brezhnev have tackled the problem with what was described by many commentators as 'hyper-liberalism" following the push for 1965 reform, unaltered and even strengthened. In fact some older circles within the party viewed the reform as "corruption of socialist principles" and there were unsubstantiated rumours of potential coup by older membership. Under pressure to appear tough and quash any plans for coup, especially after inconclusive resolution to Mongolian crisis making him look weak, Brezhnev authorized KGB security troops "to take command of the situation in Czechoslovakia by any means necessary". The result would be 1968 completely unfamiliar to us: Prague Spring as we know it would be termed Bloody Spring.

KSČ fourteenth party congress voted unanimously to oust Dubček following his presentation of reforms - large caucus were absent from the proceedings and there were unsubstantiated allegations that Soviet operatives were actively preventing party members who may support Dubček from entering the congress. Nevertheless, conservative Miloš Jakeš was appointed general secretary same day and as his first act, Dubček was charged with various crimes including that of treason by conspiracy with Beijing and conspiracy with United States. Given the public opinion, it was also determined by the congress that Czechoslovakia lacked sufficient security to hear this case and formally requested trial to be held in Moscow although overseen by Czech judicial official. The trial held two days latter lasted for eight hours and returned unanimous verdict of guilty on all counts with sentence of execution.

As the protest in Czechoslovakia intensified, Brezhnev following apparent request for assistance by Miloš ordered over half million men from various Warsaw pact countries with detachment of KGB operatives to move in and remove any counter-revolutionary elements. Military acted to remove any protesters which in itself was condemned by the west however KGB operatives went further: they carried out raids of all houses and any individuals possessing literatures or suspected of supporting Dubček's reforms were 'arrested and tried': although given the circumstances several were caught in cross fire and died. This provoked outrage even within Russia however contingency plans swiftly crushed such rebellion. While whole ordeal was termed by many to be "tyrannical, brutal and medieval", those rumblings within the party were largely silenced as Brezhnev took podium to announce soviet union stands for the workers and will act to protect their interests against "any group which seeks to subjugate the workers by capital or by corruption of communism".

Now the leadership of the party and USSR is rather tightly formed lead by Brezhnev and moving towards greater liberalization of economic sectors.

RP Example: You know me from 2060(?) RP

Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a liberal.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate idealistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.

Yes, take China, that'd be great. I'm pretty sure all reservations for China are null and void at this point.

Brief (Paragraph) Description of your nation's history: Major combat in the Chinese Civil War ended in 1949 with the Communist Party in control of most of mainland China, and the Kuomintang retreating offshore, reducing the ROC's territory to only Taiwan, Hainan, and their surrounding islands. On 1 October 1949, Communist Party Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed the establishment of the People's Republic of China. In 1950, the People's Liberation Army succeeded in capturing Hainan from the ROC and occupying Tibet. However, remaining Nationalist forces continued to wage an insurgency in western China throughout the 1950s.

Mao encouraged population growth, and under his leadership the Chinese population almost doubled from around 550 million to over 900 million. However, Mao's Great Leap Forward, a large-scale economic and social reform project, resulted in an estimated 45 million deaths between 1958 and 1961, mostly from starvation. Between 1 and 2 million landlords were executed as "counterrevolutionaries." In the early 60's, China assisted communist Vietnamese. With their new Chinese backers, the Vietnamese reunified by 1963, with most of the 1961-1962 being the NVA rooting out the remnants of South Vietnam's government and army who continued to resist. With the war ended, the Chinese concluded a pact with the Vietnamese, ensuring mutual defense and free trade between the two nations, with China also supplying Vietnam with the industrial supplies and advisers so that they could modernize similarly to their new Chinese allies. While they were supporting the Vietnamese, the Chinese also supported a revolt in Mongolia. Mongolia was long torn between the Soviet and Chinese spheres, and this move sparked a civil war that still scars the steppes of Mongolia today, both physically and politically. The Mongolian Civil War resulted in the nation being torn in half, with the North, or "Mongolian Socialist Republic," being supported by the USSR, and the south, or "Mongolian People's Republic," being supported by the Chinese. The Mongolian Civil War ended in 1963 as a stalemate, and both Mongolian nations quickly became little more than puppets for their Soviet and Chinese benefactors.

The next nation to fall in line with the Chinese was North Korea, who had long played China and the USSR off each other to the North Koreans benefit. Seeing the meteoric rise of China, and no doubt feeling either kinship or threatened by the Chinese who had once helped them drive the UN forces from their lands. In 1965, Kim Il Sung declared that "North Korea would embrace the philosophy of Maoism, and stand in the vanguard against the bourgeois West and imperialist USSR."

The US during this period was slow to react, considering the Chinese to be simply a new threat to the USSR, a distraction that could allow it to build it's alliances and continue to rebuild and expand their markets and economies. When Saigon fell, the US finally to notice of the rising tiger that was the new Chinese superpower. US strategic assets - missiles, bases, troops - that were once almost fully concentrated in Europe were transferred to the new Asian theater, and were positioned in the US's allies in the region - South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and the Philippines. In the 1964 election, the topic of China's expansion allowed for a much more competitive Republican Party, whose candidate - Barry Goldwater - lost by a small margin to the incumbent, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The Republicans still controlled the Senate, however, and they pressured the president to increase the militaries of all of the members of NATO, and assist the Japanese in building their "Self-Defense Forces."

The final act - to the present day - that confirmed Chinese entrance into the Cold War was the detonation of their own nuclear weapon, along with an announcement that they had "more than enough to equal the warheads of the Imperialists." This is considered a lie, as the Chinese nuclear program had only been around for a decade at most, and they were mostly working with stolen Russian and American tech, but nonetheless, China proved it could make nuclear weapons, and that they would also factor into the increasingly large death total, should the great powers go to war, a war that would be the last of all wars.

East Africa started their conquests by defending against the Italians with the arms giving by England, France, and even Russia. After the defending against foreign powers was over, they began the offensive. Attacking Italian Somaliland, and quickly capturing it for themselves. AH, PMT, some FT.

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded ultra-progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear neither committedly capitalist nor socialist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a liberal.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a considerate idealistic egalitarian with many strong convictions.
