I do believe that we're speaking English, and the English translation of Eire is Ireland.

Also, the vast majority of Irishmen are English-speaking and use the term Ireland, 'Eire' is only really used by the Irish Government, IIRC.

It's like 26% use it as their main language with another 20% using it alongside english. There is actually a major revival going on amongst young folk. And Eire is just as commonly used(across the pond in Connecticut) as Ireland.

Actually, using Eire instead of Eíre is very offensive. Because Eire without the accent means "burden".

You probably do. Press "i" while holding down the Alt Gr key, that is how I do it on a British QWERTY keyboard.

EDIT: Also, it's not Eíre, it's Éire.

Scottish Royal Family: Family Tree Edition

It starts when the House of Stuart-Vasa was formed. I still have to go back in and add some odd aunts and uncles, maybe cousins if I am super bored. We will see.

Edit: If you want to talk about marriages of various members of the House of Stuart-Vasa (aka not Queen Maggie's kids), shoot me a telegram and we can work out the details of that.

I love how monolithic all the Asian nations are. Same with diversity.
Still hate the idea of vikings in siberia. Like wtf.

Nah, son. Britain was all like "yo, why my colonies be all uppity an' shit?!" And Lord Durham laid it straight: "they be wantin' legislation with representation, dawg."

I think the concept is pretty unrealistic. Most of the stuff here has been on point in terms of realism and yours is by far the worse. Especially since you are thinking of a royal marriage with Ethiopia (or was that Russia) which is on the opposite side of the world).

Also because I know you're gonna be a huge problem in Japanese colonization of Siberia and I hope you don't inflate your nation's strength and centralization and ability to attack my colonies.

CODE: SELECT ALL
APPLICATION
Nation Name: Kingdom of Persia
Capital City: Esfahan
Claimed Territory: (preferably a map or specific territory): The rest of Iran, along with Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikstan, and Kyrgyzstan, and a colony in Mozambique (about the northern third of the country)
Population: 20 million? Hard to find figures for Persia.
National Flag: (put in spoiler)

Head of State: Shah Tahmasp II
Head of Government: (if applicable): Grand Vizier Ardashir Gilani
Government Type: Administrative Monarchy
National Ideologies: (Free Trade? Democracy? Slavophilia? etc.): Monarchism, mercantilism, freedom of religion, Pan-Persianism (uniting Persia)
History: (put in spoiler):

Ismail, head of the Safaviyya Shia order, took advantage of the crumbling Ak Koyunlu and successive Georgian invasions to wage a campaign against the Ak Koyunlu Turks. Ismail was based at Kerman in Persia's east as a large chunk of Western Persia was already under Georgian control. By 1501, Ismail had defeated the remnants of the Ak Koyunlu Turkomans and united the various warlords of eastern Persia under his banner, proclaiming himself Shah and establishing the Safavid Dynasty. Much of his his reign was spent expanding eastward, with much of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan falling to his armies. His successor, Tahmasp I, continued this policy of expansion, defeating disparate Turkoman tribes and eventually annexing Khiva in 1552. Tahmasp

Upon the death of Ismail II in 1586 without a clear heir, Persia collapsed into a brief period of civil war. Abbas, the nephew of Ismail II, emerged as Shah in 1590. Much of his reign was spent on consolidation, putting down rebellions that had arisen during the civil war and beginning a reformation of the army based off European models. The remainder of Central Asia was brought under Persian suzerainty by 1610. In order to suppress constantly simmering rebellion in the north, and reconcile the Persians and conquered Turkic peoples as much as was possible, Shah Mahmud canceled the Jizya poll tax and Shia conversion programs that had been the cause of considerable resentment from Sunni Turkic peoples. Mahmud and his successor Abbas considerably secularized the nation, and though the Shahs still picked Grand Vizier from among the royal advisers, Abbas granted men holding that office considerably more power than had been afforded to them before.

Late in his reign (1637), Abbas commissioned an exploratory fleet to establish a colony in Africa (Mozambique). The funds required for this severely hampered his grandfather's military modernization project, but once the colony, Daryaband, became self-sufficient by 1655, funds were diverted back into the army, which was slowly but surely taking the shape of a modern European army, with vestiges of past tactics left over. Tahmasp II was crowned Shah in 1692, and continues to lead a now stable and prosperous Persia.
