Seriously though we're humanist and have no decent colonies for slaves to work. Our northern ones would profit more from paid labour, and the Virgin Isles are... well... there's fuck all there, really.

Slavers out of Boston were selling slaves in the mid-Atlantic colonies before the 18th century. Slavery in general has been around long before Brazil, and even slavery in the New World has been around for centuries.

Romans used slavery.

Why are we even having this discussion? There are slaves at this time, whether or not people decide to use them is another matter.
