And the only pro I can think of a M1911 variant is that because it's single-stack, it's more easily concealable..... Also, what about the Glock 21SF?

I'm glad that you said something like that and not a Katana..... The only problem is the fact that you can't bash heads in..... That's more of a preference more than anything.

You could still carry at least ten magazines, which is still 221 rounds. So that's not a huge problem. And with a round that big it's more often than not, one shot per customer. And it's one of the most common rounds in America so no problems there either.

The 1911's are actually pretty big and not that easy to conceal. The compact versions are easier to conceal(obviously) but a standard 1911 is taller and longer than the European 45's.

I also don't follow the Glock's much. They're a good brand but.. Just not a fan of them.

Katana's and swords in general aren't common enough or actually real enough(cause replicas are frail and can't be sharpened effectively like my SS Honor Dagger) to use as a weapon. Having said that, I actually did buy this for myself for such an occasion. Just cause it was like $20 :p

Logically, you wouldn't want that much in my opinion, since I'd pack more food and water than ammunition. I'd pack like four mags, plus the one in the gun.... I guess I'm lucky to be in the US, since they don't have as strict firearms laws as most European or Asian countries, and I live in Texas. One of the places that has more guns that people per square mile.

I should have been more specific, I meant to say the Colt Defender and I actually would prefer revolvers..... Although the slow reload is their only downside....

Yeah, I get what you mean about the Glocks.

And Gerber makes amazing blades!

Well I see it the same way as the army. Pack as much ammo as you can.

Then yes, a short gun like that would be easily concealed but the standard 1911 is like twice or three times the size. I wouldn't want a revolver cause .357 and .44 mag are all fairly uncommon compared to 9x19 para and .45 ACP. Of which, I always carry HP rounds. Which turn already man-stoppers in to uber killers~

Yus, Father and I have been in to Gerber blades forever.

Even if you're if by yourself? Would that still be your philosophy?

And I was actually thinking of the .44-40 or the .38 Special, those are more common than magnum rounds. And I would use sidearms for zombies than people.......

I think that's how the army saw/sees it. So, yes.

Having a sidearm is always a good idea, just in case your primary weapon fails.

Or taking a page from CoD.. "It's faster to switch to your sidearm than to reload your weapon!"

If that's how you prefer, can't really argue with varying ideas.

Always good to have one, but switching speed between primary and secondary is dependent on a lot of factors, especially for normal civilians turned survivors. I'd actually prefer something like an Fire Axe as a primary for when I'm on the move and a rifle for a more static situation, so you know I don't have to worry so much about ammo.

Instead, I would simply worry about scavenging and maintaining ammo for the pistol I'm carrying.

Well in a place like Texas I can't imagine ammo would be a problem at all. But maybe in big cities.

Course then again there's millions of gangs in every major city too so..

There will be those asshole survivors who'll want to keep it all for themselves, and the beginning is usually the most chaotic because of anarchy spreading.

Then there's that and I always think that big cities have so many things that can go wrong, many places to hide and the amount of Zs within the buildings..... I prefer the surburban areas, good variety of scavenge possibilities.

Standard AK-47 is what I was referring to. Not the AKM.

For a sidearm I would probably end up using some form of 20 gauge sawn off shotgun with slugs. Either that or a Smith and Wesson 457. Where I live ammo is pretty plentiful. As for the melee weapon, I would just utilize one of the prybars that I have.

My AK has a lot of aftermarket parts on it. Stock, rails, grip, it's pretty awesome.

I'm more of a traditionalist myself. I actually got to keep my old service rifle, and I've left it unmodified for the most part. I'm not a fan of all those newfangled attachments. Learned to shoot with ironsights, and that's the way I'll stay.
