I read on a blog that they actually do have tanks like the L3/35 cc, but choose not to use them. Which is stupid for obvious reasons.
Instead of buying one medium tank (P40 weighed less than both the M4 Sherman and T-34) I would have bought a few more Semovente. Either that or M13/40 and M15/42. They're slow, but with what Oorai had, the 47/32 and 47/40 guns would have a field day.
Anzio didn't even use their tanks properly.
You were right the first time. The L3/35 was modified sometime during the Spanish Civil War to have a 37mm L/26 cannon. It was the first stage in the development that lead to the L6/40.
The L3 da 47/32 was open-everywhere. It only had a gunshield on the front to protect it.
