I hereby propose we use AR-15 lookalike rifles with wooden furniture. I mean, it goes very well with the feel we are aiming for.

or or or or AR-10
Because it can be a basic rifle, have an optic and bipod for marksmen or be a belt fed machine gun.

Except folding stocks don't work with a direct impingement system so maybe we could have a Sig 550 lookalike but with wood or bakelite furniture and a more simplistic folding stock like the one from the Sig 540 or Galil. I actually like the idea of using a Sig 550 clone because internally it is essentially an AK giving it all the positives we want our rifle to have, but also all the negatives in that it's a fairly heavy weapon, 9 pounds empty, doesn't seem like much but try lugging that around all day, and is overall quite a long rifle too, almost 40 inches long with the stock unfolded. There's even a 7.62 variant that feeds from AK mags so it can 100% be everything we need in our rifle.

Yes. And sine this world still has active dynastic politics, then I guess most of these territorial disputes are because of claims to territories. Of course, this is based mostly on what I've seen so far of the world. I have no idea if Precambria has a monarchy.

Edit: In fact, Precambria could have been a monarchy, but there was an overthrow and a democracy, junta, or dictatorship was set up. Seeing as their claims were being contested, Antideluvia declared war pressing them.

Just a small idea.

Hell, perhaps the hatred goes even deeper into the history of both nations. Both Antidiluvia and Precambria could have been united at some point in time, though a rival royal family/group tore them apart and led to their rivalry, as neither side really agreed to the border agreement at the time. Thus starts possibly even centuries of conflict between both nations, and we could still be able to fit in the overthrow of the Precambrian Royal Family by the military/population, and the rise of a dictatorship/junta/democracy, or whatever in Precambria that is much more volatile than the Royal Family.

Yeah. Going by how history went, the whole continent being ruled by one king/emperor is very plausible. A split at some point is th most plausible reason for a rivalry, and claims on certain territories through marriage over the years could be the reason for the periodic wars. A change in government in Precambria would be a crisis for the nobility who have marriages and claims on Precambrian regions. Even escaped noble families with claims would also have a reason. So the giant, near constant wars would be explained by that.

Of curse, this is all explained by dynastic politics. No other motives like nationalism and economics and such.

However, the important mining/lumber/hunting town of Revaalsbandt is split in between by both forces, as both nations find it to be a vital economic resource. Both dynasties could at least partly be concerned about fishermen or other workforces harvesting resources from what they perceive to be the extent of their territory, with both nations being convinced (through hatred and other factors) that the other's actions are also an act of economic warfare, with the reason being that such activities put a hamper on their economic growth.

Goldangles

Goldangles are a popular brand of Antediluvian snack foods. They are corn-based salted triangular chips, sometimes with a special onion herb or pepper-based seasoning. Initially, they were born as a no-frills snack ration for service members of the Royal Army, to be consumed on field. However, their distinct flavour struck a tender note with the military, and the snack promptly spread into civilian life, eventually becoming a commercial product.

Some young kids tend to consume a lot of Goldangles due to the military connotations of the chip, thinking of themselves as future army aces with unbelievable shooting skills. Children can be so naive.

Verstact Brew

Originally a fizzy lemon-based brew used by Verstact miners to rejuvenate their taste buds after hours of mining tight and dusty tunnels, the Brew was popularised in the Royal Army by Verstact levy-men. Like many other popular items in Royal Army, the Brew and it's mountainous, dew-y flavour eventually reached the greater civilian market. It's now sold in stores all over Antediluvia.

Both foodstuffs are usually consumed together. Some troopers call it "fueling up for battle".

Yes, you can. Sorry if that sounded snarky, but for this RP, the service rifle has a folding stock.

Perkele

An alcoholic drink originating from Revaalsbandt. A potato based vodka. It was popularized by Revaalsbandti, who brought it with them and refused to drink anything else. Some conscripts would go the longest mile to preserve their last sip of it. Over the years, the drink started going into the mainstream, as conscripts who drank the stuff popularized it across the nation. Soon, the military was banning it from regular use in the military for it got the soldiers drunk really quickly (except for Revaalsbandti conscripts, who claimed that it was an integral part of their culture and weirdly enough they could handle it better).

The vodka is named after its sheer intensity. In Revaalsbandti culture, Perkele is the most intense word to use, synonymous with the lord of hell, and a sort of cultural identifier. Because of its high proof and icy burning taste, it adopted the name. The vodka has a unique flavor and tastes cold regardless of temperature, making it extremely popular in hot environments and on the beach.

There are several jokes about the drinks. One popular one is it gives you body hair muscles. Another is that it is made with the melt of slain ice giants. Another is that Revaalsbandti are fueled only by Perkele.

(I made an active effort to make it as Finnish as possible :p )

I'm gonna be honest: Trans and I are still discussing whether or not to include a Uralic language. We're still not 100% sure; I've pitched him/her (@Trans: what is your gender, anyway?) an idea which would introduce some Uralic phonological features to the third (still-unnamed) language family, but he/she has yet to get back to me with his/her thoughts. Also, we haven't determined that Revaalsbandt will have its own language family. So while I appreciate the attempt at contributing to worldbuilding (I really do, and I'm not trying to rain on your parade), please don't make assumptions about the aspects that aren't yours to decide.

I guess. I'm a little excited about it. And I was mostly going off of Revaalsbandt's description, which seems to set it off from every other region and culture, even Thorn which is the closest culture to them. Plus, it seems to be that Revaalsbandt is this worlds Finland, as it is constantly fought over and as a result fucked over. The only equivalent besides Uralic would be Inuit, which would probably be even more harder to do. So yeah, just oging off of that.

If you want, I can help with the language tree if it's too much work on your own.

I'm back. Since there was like twenty pages since I last checked, can I get a brief fill-in?
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

Welcome back! Hope everything's alright.

People talked about blimps, Gren said that blimps being used in battle is impractical, Ayreo outlined the magic system and a couple of people have given feedback, people have been discussing other things (mostly vehicles and weapons, but recently a bit of food and drink), and probably a couple of other things that I can't recall at the moment.
