Of Grades and Grenades: Eureka AcademyTM Welcome to the S.T.A.G. Program
Hello, and welcome to the world of Eureka! The story takes place in the tension-ridden, high-pace year of 2044. In the decades since the start of the new millennium, technological developments have taken the world by storm. Fields once considered fringe science are now fully accepted endevors in the academic community. But its not all sunshine, draft beer and rainbows. Earth has barely survived humanity's latest and greatest efforts to blow ourselves up. And it shows. Due to unpopular conflicts across the world, out cries among the citizenry have caused nations to a adopt a policy of marginalizing their state militaries. As a result, many of their positions and jobs are now outsourced to private secruity firms, who provided countries with power in turn for profit. The title "Mercenary" has become the most popular, and lucrative, job on Earth. Controversy, high-tempers and political mud-slinging abound for supporters and detractors of this system of tit for tat. And in the eye of the storm, stands Eureka. An artifical island twice the size of Great Britian in the North Atlantic, the privately funded instillation plays host to the most infamous education facility in the world. Eureka's Academy of Military Science, Games, and Theory. Commonly refered to as The S.T.A.G Program, it is a private boarding school notorious for its trademark curriculum: Warfare. From live-fire excercises to virtual reality sims' spanning conflicts throughout the centuries, students of different classes, leagues, and other schools lock and load on the daily to secure their lives and GPA. OP is God
Races: Originals- Your everyday human beings. The genetic makeup of the majority of the student body and personnel on Eureka. Partials- Genetically spliced individuals, enhanced and changed through biological technology, courtesy of Ravencroft. Rare outside of the Eureka Isle, they represent a small minority of the island population. The differences they display because of their genetic make-up can be as subtle as increased faculties in senses, to physical and psychological similarities to the animal they had been spliced with. Year Rates First Years - Fresh fish and meat for the grinder. Mandatory enrollment in Invictus for acclimating fresh Cadets to the Eureka experience. Second Years - Soldiers of the Suck. They now know the score, and are back for more. They play the role of senior instructors and are generally ranked as NCOs. Third Years - Grizzled Veterans. Assist in the maintaining the Academy, and helping out with League work. Usually have reached the rank of Staff Officers. Fourth Years (NPC's Only ATM) - Battle Ax’s and Old Ironsides who have survived the worst S.T.A.G. threw at them. They are the General Staff, the Joint Chiefs, Student Council if you're feeling quaint. Their authority is second only to directives from Ravencroft. Ranks In Eureka S.T.A.G. , superiors and subordinates are decided on a merit and seniority based system. The better you do in subjects, simulations, on the battlefield, and how long you've attended the academy will reflect where you stand on the school hiearchy. Going left to right you have your rank brack followed by the specific ranks. Ranks with a slash designate a seperation and their equivilance to each other. This means that the rank to the left is standard for land and airforces, with the one on the right standard for naval usage. Commander-in-Chief| Grand Marshal (of Combined League Forces) *(Unobtainable ATM) General Staff | Field Marshal/Fleet Marshal/Sky Marshal *(Unobtainable ATM) Staff Officers | General/Admiral, Colonel/Captain, Major/Commander, Leuitenant/Ensign NCO (Non-commissioned Officer) | Sergeat Major, Staff Sergeant, First Sergeant, Corporal Basic Cadet | Lance Corporal, Private First Class PC |(Probationary Cadet) | Private Leagues: Over the years of its operation, the Academy has seen the inclusion of Leagues into its structure, which act as a way for like minded students to connect and build camaraderie throughout year rates and ranks. Currently, there are 4 offically sanctioned Leagues: Defion, Leviathan, Aer Vis, and Invictus. Defion - Granted status as a League by Ravencroft at the same time Leviathan was, it is one of two Leagues to have been with the school since its inception in 2025. The status of its members for physical toughness and having a will of iron has been earned and proven, which is tempered by their reputation for unneccsary roughness among their new members and "anything to win" mindset. Their members strengths are in Land Combat, skilled in the application of Infantry and Armored forces. It is currently represented by Field Marshal Axel Reacher. Leviathan - Created when the Academy first opened in 2025, it found an immediate rival with Defion when the latter was granted the title League. They general reputation of Leviathan is a postive one, as their members usually act as a foil to Defion. Like its name suggest, those who join Leviathan seek to become masters of the waves, with their strengths being in Maritime combat and Naval skills. Its present leader is Fleet Marshal Ariel Grey Aer Vis - Accepted as a League in 2028, it was considered the baby of the Academy until Invictus took the stage. Of course their skill on the battlefield is no laughing matter. Masters of speed and agility amidst the fog of war, they are professionals of cavalry and aerial dogfighting, shaking the skies of Eureka with sonic booms while thundering through the land on horseback. While respected for their skills, they have gotten a rap around the school for elitism, brash arrogance, and general douchebaggery. Their current commander-in-chief is Sky Marshal Samantha Trelane. Invictus - The new boy on the block, Invictus was created in 2030 by cadets who felt disenfranchised or isolated in their own Leagues. While they are the most active praticipates in the simulators and vastly out number the other leagues, they are seen as the Academys underdog. A league for losers, troublemakers, and where generally nooby soldiers congregate. In order to boost enrollment for Invictus, due to its reputation, the General Staff ruled to allocate all first years in this league. It is currently lead by Field Marshal Dainel Fisk. Subject Chart: A class system of sorts. It will determine what areas in combat you accel in and which ones you don't. Your personal preformance in simulations as well as your leagues overall success in live-fire excercises depends on your strengths and weakness, and will lower or rise your promience in the league and school according to how you apply yourself. (INF) Infantry is the practice of fighting on foot in structured units with small arms. (ARM) Armored combat is the operation of light, medium, and heavily armored land vehicles in a battlezone (ARTY) Artillery deals with gunnery skill and the utilization of heavy land-based weapons and ordinance. -League Dictum Mascot: The Jolly Roger Events Heartbreak Ridge Incident The Incident occurred June 2043, during the last Trimester of the year. The location was a patch of land called Ridge 42. A leftover highland from an aborted mountain range during Eureka's early construction, it served as a natural buffer between whichever League controlled the Iron Fields, and the Skycrest Mountains. The Incident itself was over academy politics, specifically, about the inclusion of a fourth League. A large minority of cadets in Aer Vis, Defion, and Leviathan felt that they were not fully represented by the established leagues. They wanted a place of their own and a voice in the General Staff. Ravencroft denied their request. In retaliation, a flash protest by the disenfranchised cadets was orchestrated and held during the Final. The sudden act of civil disobedience paralyzed the Academy, halting the tests and the last inter-league battle of the year. Cadets from all leagues and year rates participated in the act of rebellion, leaving their campus and abandoning their posts to congregate on Ridge 42. In a panic, hoping to contain this instance of rebellion from becoming a public spectacle, Ravencroft ordered complete shutdown of Eureka, instituting martial law. The A.I. Administrator's were given emergency powers, and all communication and information services were blacked out. Two divisions of Security Service Contractors were flown in. Aer Vis, Defion and Leviathan were mobilized for militarization under the authority of Mac. These units moved into the Reservation as a coalition force to confront the rebel cadets. Field Contractor Alastair Lynch, and Cadets Saito Tsukuda, Joshua Fisk, Jessica O'Flattery, Axel Reacher, Ariel Grey and Samantha Trelane were part of the forward operating force that was sent out to intimidate the rebels into immediate surrender. Shouting on both sides quickly became shooting, as each side confronted the other. 3 days and 20,000 KIA later, it was all over. "Official reports" were written, scapegoats were named, and heads were rolled. Invictus was created later in the month, Column Fall made its first public protest shortly afterwards and Ridge 42 received its naming. Phantom Bullet Phenomenon Second Pacific War |
