Also, do we want the duels to be a comprehensive and complete showing of each student's abilities and aptitudes, or just only what they need to achieve victory? Or just leave it up to the individual?
And since they know the team-deathmatch/CTF/objective-holding/whatever-the-hell-Zark-chooses is next, perhaps some will make use of other tactics to otherwise disguise their abilities or deceive future opponents, or overblow themselves to intimidate others and be overestimated, or just misunderstood. Or vice versa, being underestimated.
I don't know, there's a lot of stratagems to use in situations like this, but what you think Zark? Will there be a directive they have to follow, like showing all their power, or just leave it up to each fighter? Perhaps in leaving it up to the individual, then the staff and aspirants can also get a good idea of the kind of grasp on tactics and strategies each character has, and their ability to communicate and coordinate together knowing that information, the duels and then group match.

Oh, I didn't see this.
I'd say it's up to each individual player to have their characters show however much power they want to, though I wouldn't think that they will have an easy time if they show anything less than everything, to be honest.
On that note, I was thinking for the team battle that each team could have... I don't know, a special platform they have to protect, and a banner. The goal would be to place one's banner in the other team's platform first. For some reason I feel that a game like this would make a tad more sense in-universe than old-school CTF.

That depends on their general abilities, which jointly effect combat. Blow strength, for example, is determined by END and RDN. Speed is determined by RDN, but how long you can run is determined by ENG. Exerting constant strength, like pushing or bending steel like you say, would be influenced by END and ENG. Leaping would be determined by RDN. Stuff like accuracy would be determined by FOC and AWR. Counterattacks or parries by FOC, RDN and AWR, along with weapon proficiencies. So basically the more complicated the action, the more stats it will likely involve.
ANYWAY, with all that rambling aside, to strike a dozen blows in a second with reliability, one would need 5 RDN, 5 FOC and 5 AWR. To crush entire meters of cubic stone with a kick, something like 5 RDN and 7 END. Bend steel with their bare hands, something like 3 END and 3 ENG. Running at speeds of several tens of kilometers per hour sounds a biiiit overboard, don't you think? That'd be, like, 10 RDN and 8 ENG. Leaping would just require like 5 RDN and 5 END. All of this assuming you have enough FOC to avoid getting distracted.
That's what I'd say, anyway. I'm pulling the figures out of my ass in either case, but that's my idea of how stuff works. I hope it can give you a feel of what recruits of your stature can do.

So Jyn can bend steel with her bare hands... Interesting...

Heh. Sorry, not the easiest question to answer.
I've been hunting around a bit for a good comparison and I wonder: would Redemit be similar to this?

Well, a battle to the death between aspirants would be more like that, but it seems a bit above recruits. That's what I think.

I haven't had the privilege of reading the novels, but the anime. Bloody hell. Some of the most impressive animation I've ever seen. Lovely stuff, mate. And glad to find another fan! I'm going to be a bit sad when the first season ends, as the second doesn't start til April from word on the net. Can't wait for Archer's moment of monstrous badassery in it tho!

Eh, I haven't gotten very far on the novel, and the stuff so far is, to be honest, a tad boring, though I did see (read about, rather) the fight between Archer and Lancer.
I kept hearing that the anime was shit. But then I heard they were making a better one, so I assume that's the one you mean..

Yes. The new anime is... Well. It's definitely worth watching. If you have the time, do so! So far, it's one of the better shows to come out in recent years, right up with its predecessor, Fate Zero.

Last thing I watched was from, like, 2001 I think, so no.

-Shrug-
I watched it recently, online, but I think it was from around that time. Pandora Hearts. It was good, by my standards at least, but I didn't like that a) the heroine is presented as a monster and then turns out to be pretty useless and b) the plot of the anime is inconclusive, which is why I started reading the manga.
