Olny if you have physical access to their person, which I presume you do not. Regardless, we can always postulate as to the dueling system, as input is typically taken into account on such matters.

Or we could pull some practice sword bs where they use traditional swords rather then energy swords? I doubt a steel blade would damage armor.

I wasn't counting the use of armor. Energy blades can't directly harm armor either anyway unless the shield generators are depleted.

And you know how I mentioned Kiri had a limited on her sword? I was thinking that they're set up so that they only deliver a light electric shock like one of those pens that you press the top on and it zaps you. Because the blade itself is pure energy, this'd mean they could fight without armour and just call it if one person gets electrified a given number of times.

Didn't think the inclusion of armor would be of any obstruction if they relocated for their duels. But the energy blade loophole seems more in line with the lore.

Also, do we want the duels to be a comprehensive and complete showing of each student's abilities and aptitudes, or just only what they need to achieve victory? Or just leave it up to the individual?

And since they know the team-deathmatch/CTF/objective-holding/whatever-the-hell-Zark-chooses is next, perhaps some will make use of other tactics to otherwise disguise their abilities or deceive future opponents, or overblow themselves to intimidate others and be overestimated, or just misunderstood. Or vice versa, being underestimated.

I don't know, there's a lot of stratagems to use in situations like this, but what you think Zark? Will there be a directive they have to follow, like showing all their power, or just leave it up to each fighter? Perhaps in leaving it up to the individual, then the staff and aspirants can also get a good idea of the kind of grasp on tactics and strategies each character has, and their ability to communicate and coordinate together knowing that information, the duels and then group match.
