I'd have made it harder, but that would've made it longer too, which isn't desirable at this point.

Sorry; would've been able to do better if I'd been around to post properly during the battle itself, although to be honest I think I'd headcanoned the inverse rule of ninja into the whole thing and just assumed infinite hordes of insubstantial-looking enemies would be pretty weak opponents.

That stuff where Kyr's going all mopey about the battle being too easy and not counting is probably overplaying how easy it was though. Her sense of time in the mindscapes's pretty messed up though, so it could be her interpretation's all just down to that and her own raging self-doubt.

I may also have been using her first battle as an allegory for her losing her virginity as well, (in that it was totally underwhelming for all the buildup and practice and she's not entirely sure she did it right) but I'm not even sure I had that metaphor right in my head as I was writing it so all that came across was the "Am I different now? I thought I would be different," line of thought,

Heh, "practice" :P

Anyway, fair enough.

The best metaphors are always the ones you discover after to write them; at least that's how it is for me a lot of the time.

Nah, I usually know what I'm trying to say during a post. It's just while writing this one I was trying to ingest all the posts from while I'd been inactive as well as get myself back into Kyr's mindset and everything else, with the result that what came out was a little more rushed and sloppy that it would have been if I'd been keeping up to date.

Hi.
I'm not dead.
Busy season is not over because I've got a performance next week and a competition after that.
But I'm not dead.
:)
I should really stop with this whole dying thing.

So I'm watching The Fellowship of the Ring right now. Maybe it's because I lived in New Zealand for two years, and spent one of them in Queenstown working at a hostel where the series was almost never off the telly despite half the filming locations being practically just out the door, but I'm going to have to come out and say this, and it's not easy for me to admit:

The Lord of the Rings is a bad movie series.

Not just overrated; bad.

Once you cut out all the intense silences and close ups of all the cast being intensely silent (I'm looking at you, Elijah Wood, with your stupid constipated face) all you're left with is a great big advert for New Zealand tourism interspersed with a script so hammy and over-acted that it sounds like it came out of a D&D campaign run by William Shatner.

Apart from Merry, Pippin and Gimli (who are the only characters who actually talk like real people) I wanted to stab every single character in the face. The Hobbit might have been padded out to six times longer than the book demanded and featured godawful CGI but at least the dwarves were relatable and those movies didn't spend half their runtime on establishing shots.

Phew! Okay, thank you for indulging me just now; I just really needed to vent.

You're welcome to vent whenever you want :P

I'd offer my thoughts on the matter, but to be honest, I've never really sat down and watched the movies. I feel like I should, given how big of a pop culture reference they are, but eh. I'm just lazy.

I'm in the same boat Zark, I only ever tried to watch them properly once and that time tried to marathon all three extended editions in one sitting, I got about half way into the second one before passing out. Oddly enough that was my stopping point when I read the books too, they kind of suffer from how influential they've been.

I strongly, heavily disagree but he has a right to an opinion. As long as he doesn't flaunt it in my face or start insulting LOTR (and I don't anticipate him doing so), I'll live.

So, hello folks. I know I haven't posted in a while, and to that effect, what I have to say is something that a few of you might have suspected already: I'm afraid I've lost the drive to continue writing for this. I don't know if the rest of you feel the same way, but what I know is that the stagnation that the roleplay has gone through (which is undoubtedly my fault at least in part, if not completely) is one of the factors that has been steadily drained my resolve to continue writing updates. Among other matters, I was also not in college when this roleplay began, and college has proven to be an extra drain on my time so far, and there are certain things (some of them also roleplay-related, I won't lie) that I'd prefer to spend time on. Thus, I am declaring this RP dead. It was fun to roleplay with you all, you're all great writers, and I apologize for this abrupt end and any shortcomings I might've had as an OP.

And as an addendum, if any of you wish to reuse the setting of this thread for any other roleplay, feel free to do so. You have my blessing, and if you wish, any ideas and/or information you might request.

Thanks for sticking with me this far. You're all good RPers, and very loyal ones, a quality that I hold in very high regard. It was a good run, everybody.

Sorry to hear that, Zark. I may well take you up on reusing the setting (Children of Infinity: Graduation anyone?) since I still wanna use those ideas I told you about for Kyrissa:

That flashback Kyr had of her mother when she entered the dreamscape was actually a premonition of Kyr herself and an as yet undetermined classmate, decades after some great revelation in this RP casts the Phantom Blade asunder and sparks a civil war. There was also the possibility she might be a latent Cronos Mage but I never fully made my mind up about that.

But either way, it was a pleasure working with you and I hope we meet each other again on another project.

Oh, and if anyone else can recommend a good RP, I guess I'm in the market.

I mean I sort of figured, yeah but wow. This was like the second RP I joined when I came back to NS after a long hiatus and it was undoubtedly a big part of me sticking around and putting down roots here rather than wandering off to go find some other hobby. It's definitely been a blast and out of all the rps I've played in I can defintely say I was proudest of CoI. It's kind of sad but I'm sure we'll bump into each other else where.

It feels a little bit tacky but I will mention (because I am tacky) that I just kicked off a new rp of my own. here.

It's an academy rp, with sci fi and fantasy elements and heavily shonen inspired, the central gimmick being that its a school for assassins and rather than paying school fees the students have to battle each other in mock assassination attempts to earn points to pay for classes, food and accomodation.

I dunno if it's exactly up your alley but feel free to check it if it sounds interesting. Uh, that goes for everyone here.

This is rather disappointing. I had hoped that despite the slow speed we could just truck along comfortably. I kinda wanted to do stuff with Juna and The ayendors, and I'm not sure that would be possible in a reboot (especially without elsis). And this was a pretty swell rp, despite speed and posting issues, and early leaving.

Ularn wrote:Sorry to hear that, Zark.

Like I said, you're free to do so. Shoot me a TG if you do, I'm not sure if I'll participate, but I sure would love to watch.

And I'm sure we'll meet again. To be honest I hadn't expected to see you around after SHH in the first place. :P

I'm sure we will. And good luck with your RP :)

I'm sorry to disappoint. I tried, but it's a tad difficult to drum up the motivation when posts are weeks apart sometimes (which, as I've stated several times, might very well be my fault). As for reboot possibilities, you can always talk out things with Ularn if he does take my offer. I'm sure he'll be no less open to ideas than I was.
Hello! I'm your friendly neighborhood roleplayer cat. If you need any help, send me a TG and I'll see what I can do!

I won't be GMing a new Children of Infinity in the near future, although I'm happy to join in with someone else's effort. I'm busy composing a little Firefly-esque space opera crime thing just now - figured it would be easiest to start off GMing with something pretty straightforward without too much lore to worry about. I'll post a link maybe when it's ready if anyone might be keen.
