Sure, but you can't expect Rache and Kristina's actual performance in combat to match their powergrid if you want to take that route.

These armies might have fought, but not as effectively, no doubt.

Debatable. WWI had a lot of stupid officers so who knows but generally for the type of fighting our characters do it would be sub-optimal but not completely horrible As for how effective Rache, Kristina, the Chalice Knights fight well that depends, how well does a starved and cornered animal fight? That is pretty much them.

Though I will apply liberal amounts handwavium and state that they are advanced humans thus, thanks to all the genetic engineering there isn't as many problems as one would think. :P In reality I have no idea so I am handwaving it to spare myself the headache. New excuse: Rache and Kristina received increased/normal rations about a month after they left secretly to make sure they are relatively normal when they left but they had been on starvation rations for month before that. I am sure the Academy is already raising eyebrows at the Chalice sending PTSD riddled students to them that sending them half starved would have been horrible for the sake of appearances.

PTSD as a result of combat would cause them to feel an overwhelming sense of hopelessness and/or helplessness in the middle of a fight unless said PTSD was caused by something other than combat (which is possible, but the triggering event would sit like a mental landmine for the victim), which Rache doesn't have a problem with judging by the RAO Kyr battle.

Not to mention the whole starved, cornered animal requires them to be cornered in a life-threatening situation, and would not work against your average tactician. Also, their energy reserves would be low, but they could have been at the academy for a while, meaning they would have had time to recover from starvation which means they aren't starved at all, just hungry.

As for the teachers raising an eyebrow, they don't hear much about where a student came from, otherwise I'd imagine there would be significant problems with the heretic.

They are that desperate. Though they have been fighting like a cornered animal for the past year (long story short they are able to normally keep the lawless Orders they are at war with away from Vigil through various means but this time what can only be called an army or horde managed to land on it so they are desperate, if they do not win they will lose their home and that is quite a motivator, and they have no reinforcements. This event happens, on average, every 50 years but this time around things went badly for the initial defense attempts otherwise they would not have run out of food so early. Though these events are called "Great Sieges" so I am trying to invoke imagery of a siege).

And minor point: The PTSD for both of them are not exactly battle related since it wasn't due to events that occurred on the battlefield per se so they have no problem with fighting. Besides they both have been undergoing treatment for the past several years (10 for Rache, 3 for Kristina and, compared to Kristina, Rache's is relatively minor, the most he gets is nightmares and flashbacks) so they have ways to avoid or lessen their problems with it. Also their Order is used to dealing with such things as PTSD so their treatment of the issue is quite good but not a cure all.

Though let's drop the issue since I do not want to go into their back story or Order's history too much OOC for the moment, especially with ideas I am trying to come up with. I have been having bad headaches lately sorry :P (that and I am on break so I don't want to think).

Blech - want to post something.

If it would be more convenient for the others whose characters are in the suite, I can change My last post so Kyr offers a little more of a conversation hook but otherwise I was going to have her start by pretending like there was nothing wrong.

At any rate try not to give them too much trauma/handicaps. People can only have so much pity for a character's situation.

Don't worry I won't. Though I will say Kristina's bio from day one has said she has PTSD so I am sticking pretty much exactly to what is written there.

So I've been away for abit, I'll try and get something up tonight.

Off topic I finally managed to cross Transistor off my backlog, it made me think of here on account of the sci fi setting and the talking sword. Transistor's more of a cyberspacey type thing though. Really good, stellar soundtrack that was maybe half the reason I bought it.

Spell words for the Rememberers: Latin mostly with some Greek, Japanese, and Aramaic. The Chalice only added some Swedish words to it.

What are these formulas?

Are they for spells you formulate?
If so, should I have some written down?

Some of us invented our own languages to use in our characters spell casting. EK and Mort cannibalised a few existing languages for theirs; I just ran a bunch of pop culture quotes through a simple character shift cypher. Kyr's epic spell from her battle with Rache is actually the Litany of Fear from Frank Herbert's Dune saga.

You certainly don't have to do it; for us it was ist a way to get around having to use phrases like "He chanted," or "She uttered," without giving any context as to what the spell casting actually sounds like.

Ah.
Alright.
Well, I already have a language made for that, I guess I could have Gwyn use it.

It's from the same guys who made Bastion, which I adored, so it ought to be good.

Nah, you don't have to. I certainly don't; I just have my characters whisper random stuff and then exclaim their spells' names like it's a cheesy anime. :P

Yeah that's the reason I bought it, I had Bastion for ages but only quite recently managed to finish it all the way through. I think overall Transistor might be a better experience, my only complaint is that the enemies and environments start to feel samey. It's sort of a product of the setting I guess. Bastion was just as interested in its world as it's main characters, arguably even more, whereas Transistor is more intimate. It really nails its two main characters though.

uwaah, now I'm jealous, I really wanna get my hands on undertale. I have such an allergy to buying full price games these days but I think I'll just bite the bullet and pick up undertale, ten bucks seems really worth it for a game everybody says is really something else. I don't really have proper internet at the moment so I wouldn't be able to download it anyway So I guess I'll hold off. I have to grind through per sona again anyway, did you see the trailer for five? it looks rad.

Nope. 3 was the beginning and end of my Persona experience (have I complained about the price of a dollar in pesos yet?).

But yes, totally get Undertale. It is the shit.

I gave it a pretty good try, but I always had problems getting it to run and after I switched laptops I couldn't get it to run. For some reason I could bever muster up the energy to start again. I'm kind of like that wit hrpgs, I ever play them a dozen times or I never even finish the first play through.
