"I, the wishful warrior, promise..."

The universe is a vast place, and now, we know this better than we ever had. The Chalice War, a conflict that shook the foundations of our world, ended a thousand years ago with the victory of the Red Knight over the White Dragon, but at an enormous cost. Millions of lives were claimed by the war, and in order to seal the Dragon's Gate, a great sacrifice had to be made. However, though it brought great destruction, the Chalice War also expanded our horizons in a way never thought possible before. New races and wonderful worlds were found beyond the Axial Stars which marked the limits of the Known Universe, limits that had not been breached for millennia. And though many civilizations were lost, others were found and many were saved. With the White Dragon gone, the world was in ruin, but with no threat, those who remained were free to rebuild.

A thousand years later, much has been recovered. The Order of the Phantom Blade, one of the two most affected Orders of all, has managed to rebuild much of what was lost, erecting a new capital far away from the black hole that consumed the old. Having faced their losses with dignity, they remain a powerful force in the Known Universe, in no small part thanks to their role in the Chalice War.

Naturally, another part of what has helped them remain strong are their brave soldiers.

Far out in the High North, lies the Crimson Citadel, Cathedral Arcadia, so named in honor of the Red Knight. And settled in its pristine surface, the prestigious Silver Hand Academy stands proud and tall, welcoming aspiring youths from all across the territories of the Phantom Blade and beyond. Forged by the surviving member of the Red Knight's kin, the Silver Hand Academy is the most renowned of all training institutions for future Knights and Mages in all of the Phantom Blade's territory, and with good reason. Only the finest trainees are accepted to attend that institution, and only the finest aspirants may walk away from its halls with honor. And it just so happens that you have been accepted by the council to be part of this generation's batch of hopeful trainees.

Hello, and welcome to Children of Infinity. In this science fiction/fantasy roleplay, you will play as new arrivals to the prestigious Silver Hand Academy, where your characters will learn to live and fight together, and, eventually, find themselves swept up in a chain of events that will change the universe.

Try to read everything, please.

A brief history of Aradain and the Redemit race

The Redemit are the dominant race of the Known Universe. They are descended from the Humans, but after aeons of interstellar drifting, constant conflict and genetic tampering have changed them greatly. Evolved from their frail previous forms, they are much stronger, more agile and dexterous, and with vastly improved senses and reflexes. In addition to this, their longevity is marvelous, as they are able to live a thousand years.

Their story begins a long time ago, on the distant homeworld, Cathedral Gaea, the first and last Cathedral of the Lost Realm. For millennia, the Humans inhabited Cathedral Gaea and the other ten Cathedrals of the Lost Realm, living peacefully and developing their civilization. But then an inexorable force drove them away from their ancestral home, sending them away from Cathedral Gaea and the Lost Realm and forcing them to scatter among the stars. And so for aeons as nomads they lived, fighting their own kinsmen for the resources that would allow them to survive. By this point, Human society was advanced to such point that the technology used in their violent conflicts had a truly catastrophic scale: Worlds shattered beneath their feet as brother fought brother, and the stars themselves fell before their onslaughts. This aeon of strife brought great destruction to the universe, destruction on a scale never foretold, and it lasted a very long time, until finally, someone came to stop their rampage.

The God-Knight, Aradain. From drifts unknown, He arrived, with naught but His sword and His armor to aid Him. He spoke to the Humans, telling them to stop their senseless rampage and to stop ravaging the universe, telling them that instead of using sheer power to settle their conflicts, they could stop shedding so much blood if they only turned to skill instead. At first, the Humans, the fires of rage having burned brightly within them for generations, refused to listen to the reason He brought them, instead lashing out at the God-Knight, intent on erasing Him and then returning to their fell ways. But the God-Knight, though merciful, was no fool, and those who fought Him openly met their end at the edge of His blades, destroyed by His righteous fury. Entire fleets of world destroyers fell before Him, and armies found themselves unable to stall His blades. Desperate, the Humans, having banded together to face what they believed to be a threat, appealed to Mael, King of the Wizards. For a hundred days and a hundred nights, they fought on the corpse of a fallen world, until Aradain emerged victorious, the King of the Wizards at His feet.

But He did not slay His foe. Instead, He showed mercy, and in turn, the Wizard King swore loyalty to the God-Knight's cause. The King and his subjects set out to spread the word of Aradain, attempting to convince their brothers and sisters that the God-Knight's words were words of wisdom, words that they were meant to heed. And with the help of Mael, the followers of the God-Knight grew. Eleven other lords and ladies of the Human race joined Him along with their followers, pledging their loyalty to His cause. Slowly, but steadily, the number of those who had accepted His word grew, though still conflicts erupted from time to time, and still many refused to heed His word.

After centuries, the God-Knight, who now stood as a symbol instead of a preacher, saw how far His word had spread and how hard His pupils worked, and decided that His task was done. With all eight of His swords, Aradain shed His own blood to atone for the sins of Humanity in their stead, and then... left. Some say that He left to ascend to a greater existence, others that He returned to where he had come from, and many claim that the two previous choices were one and the same for Him. No one knows the truth, but what is known is that His twelve pupils collected his blood on an argent chalice, and held it as their one greatest relic. For the rest of their lives they continued spreading His word through the universe, until all of Humanity had accepted His word. Ashamed of their previous ways and believing their name to be cursed, they shed their previous identity and proclaimed themselves a new race. The Redemit. Us.

And that is how, through His intervention, we came to be.

The story of the Phantom Blade, as told by the Red Knight.

"This story takes place in a time long since gone, a time when the Redemit remembered the days the God-Knight still walked among them after having descended to lead His children to the path of righteousness. Aradain had already ascended, but those who had walked alongside Him still lived. One such Redemit, a young woman by the name of Sylvalladine, had vowed to uphold and spread the God-Knight's teachings, and so she did, setting out to convert others throughout the galaxies to the path Aradain had shown them. Her journeys, however, were by no means safe. Many threats lurked the Known Universe, seeking to claim more victims. Danger was almost always present during those times, as both our race and the universe itself were greatly scarred after being subjected to entire aeons of constant warring, and there were still many Redemit who had not yet converted to the teachings of the God-Knight.

But Lady Sylvalladine was not only one of the twelve most devout followers of the God-Knight, no. She was also one of the greatest Mages alive. Some even claim that she was the closest in power to the great Mage Mael, first of Aradain's followers. Whether or not this was true, nobody contested that Sylvalladine's magical prowess was truly a force to be reckoned with, and it was this power that kept her safe from harm during her journeys.

As she traveled through the void, some of her fellow Redemit joined her in her journeys, many wishing to spread Aradain's word alongside her, and many others simply wishing to spend time alongside her. Lady Sylvalladine was, after all, a beautiful maiden, and many men and women alike had fallen for her after looking once into her sublime silvery eyes. One such man, Kaios, was the only one for whom Lady Sylvalladine had a place in her heart, as the two fell in love as soon as they met. However, sadly, their bliss would not last.

One fateful day, they stopped on another planet to continue spreading Aradain's teachings. However, the inhabitants of that planet did not take this well at all. They openly opposed those who would spread the God-Knight's word, and their forces immediately attacked Lady Sylvalladine and those accompanying her, slaughtering many of her companions on their first encounter. Terrified, those who remained fled from the planet, but their foes gave chase, and eventually damaged their Pegasii so much that the followers of Aradain crash-landed on an uninhabited planet, an event that killed many more of them.

In the end, they decided that they had to make their stand. Lady Sylvalladine, Kaios and the others fought valiantly and brilliantly, but the odds were not in their favor. Slowly they fell, until only a handful of them remained, Sylvalladine and Kaios among them. Amidst the battle, Kaios shouted at Sylvalladine to run away and live to fight another day and continue spreading Aradain's word. Sylvalladine refused. But then, as they continued fighting, something happened: Kaios' blade shattered from the abuse it was suffering. Yet Kaios did not surrender and continued in the battle, fighting armed Knights and Mages with only his hands, as he continued shouting at Sylvalladine, insisting- Or rather, begging her to go away, but she would not, refusing to leave him there, believing that they could still survive through all of that. They fought and fought, until he, too, fell to the enemy, a blade having cleaved right through him. 'Survive!' was the last thing he said to her before his death.

Seeing her lover's corpse on the ground, having been cut in two halves, Lady Sylvalladine finally realized something. She stood amidst a bloodied battlefield, alone, no allies to help her anymore. Great grief filled her heart, not leaving any room for rage, for her love was too pure to be stained by hate. And yet, even with all of her suffering, she was determined to live on, for Kaios and for all who had given their lives up for her. And so, she continued fighting the enemy, smiting dozens and dozens of enemies with her sacred spells, until eventually one reached her and forced her into the ground. In a moment of despair, she took the broken hilt of her lover's sword, despite knowing that it would not be of any help, and swung it up at her enemy, silently praying to the God-Knight that it would be of some help.

And imagine the surprise of all, including Lady Sylvalladine herself, when the body of the one that had forced her down split into two perfectly symmetrical halves. She looked at the weapon she held in her hand once again, and once again she saw nothing but a broken hilt with no blade on it, yet it still cut as well as the mightiest sword. Sylvalladine rose up once again and continued to fight. During those times, the idea of a Mage wielding a sword was simply laughable. How could such a thing happen? And yet, Sylvalladine's hands seemed to move by themselves. Now, she was not only fighting with her spells of holy might against these foes. She also fought like a seasoned warrior, like someone who had lived by the blade for their whole existence.

Like Kaios.

The fear inspiring sight of a woman who had lost everything fighting fiercely with sword and magic alike filled her enemies with awe and terror, and many threw their weapons away and begged for forgiveness. Those who did not were quickly routed by a woman who was fueled not by rage, but by grief and by an inexorable wish to live on for the fallen. Once they all had been slain, Lady Sylvalladine turned to those who had surrendered to her. They had slain her friends. They had slain her lover. And yet, she knew what her friends, her lover and her Master would have wanted, and thus, she forgave them, and they vowed to follow her and Aradain's word. They proclaimed Sylvalladine their queen, and upon her silvery armor, stained red with the blood of the unholy, they placed a golden circlet that merged itself with her helmet.

In time, Lady Sylvalladine the first Auregin and her followers came to be known as the Order of the Phantom Blade, in honor of Kaios, whose spirit is believed to have powered his broken blade in order to protect her. To this day, Sylvalladine's tomb is the holiest of all shrines, and the Phantom Blade is the greatest of all treasures, at least to us, members of the Phantom Blade. Lady Sylvalladine is regarded as the first Magus Ensis of all, as well as our greatest heroine."
A summary of the Chalice War

Without a doubt the bloodiest conflicts since the times before the God-Knight's descent, the Chalice War claimed billions of lives, destroyed thousands of planets and crippled hundreds of Orders. It was not, however, a battle that put brother against brother. No, it was a battle that placed the Redemit against one of the greatest foes they had ever faced, enemies that for the longest time were thought to be only myths, stories told to children in order to scare them, legends passed from generation to generation in order to perpetuate culture and honor tradition.

Dragons. Creatures born in another dimension with tremendous powers at their command.

Before the War, through his servant the Red Knight, the ruling Aurex of the Order of the Phantom Blade, Lord Pandracon, acquired a powerful artifact rumored to be imbued with the power of Aradain Himself. The Chalice War began shortly after, as the capital of the Phantom Blade, Cathedral Kaineroth, was consumed by a giant black hole that seemed to manifest in its core. From it emerged one of the aforementioned creatures, mentioned only in ancient legends and older nightmares: The White Demon, He Who Rends Light, the King of All Dragons. Along with him, several other dragons emerged from the singularity, pulling themselves out of it as if unaffected by the gravitational anomaly.

The White Dragon and his servants rampaged through the Known Universe after having erased Cathedral Kaineroth, forcing hundreds of Orders to band together and try to halt the advance of the Dragons, but even then, the odds were against them, for more and more of them constantly emerged from the black hole that glared maliciously at the universe from where Cathedral Kaineroth had once stood, the black hole that was dubbed the Dragon's Gate. In order to seal it, the entirety of the inhabitants of Cathedral Vorago, the Abyssals, members of the Order of the Void, had to perform a magical rite to counteract the gravitational singularity and close the Dragon's Gate, sacrificing themselves in the process.

The Chalice War, however, continued raging, for even though no more Dragons could enter our dimension through it, those who had already done so were still able to fight for the White Demon. And yet, slowly but steadily, the Redemit, united once again, brought the Dragons down, one by one, until only a handful of them remained. Finally, the White Demon made a final stand on the void above Cathedral Argos, ancient temple of the God-Knight. One million Mages and one million Knights, accompanied by many powerful warriors of races from beyond the Known Universe, faced off against the White Demon and his six remaining Dragon underlings that day. Few survived, for the power of the Dragons was great, but in the end, the Red Knight triumphed over the last enemy standing, the White Dragon himself, slaying the beast and ending the War.

Soon afterwards, the Red Knight disappeared, never to be found. Some say that he went to find redemption for finding the artifact that started the Chalice War, others claim that he left to avenge the lives lost by storming the world of the Dragons by himself. The truth is not known, but, though his role in the beginning of the War caused some controversy, he is almost universally renowned for being the hero that trumped the White Demon and brought an end to the War.

A thousand years have passed since then.

Setting

Image

The Known Universe is the portion of the universe which the Redemit inhabit, so named because for a long time, no one had ventured beyond its limits, instead expanding within, exploring its every corner without ever knowing anything else. Since then, and especially right before, during, and after the Chalice War, many have ventured beyond the limits of the Known Universe and have even begun mapping the lands beyond, but, despite no longer being accurate, the name stuck, and so the Redemit still know the lands their race as a whole inhabits as the Known Universe. Contrary to its name, it is not the only known part of the Universe, nor is all of it known, for there are still uninhabited and unexplored territories, the so-called Untamed Lands.

The Known Universe encompasses hundreds of galaxies which are home to thousands of Orders and billions of Redemit. Its limits are marked by the Axial Stars, six mysterious, massive solar masses with anomalous but matching magnetic properties, which serve as beacons to guide the Redemit during their long interstellar journeys thanks to the technology they have developed in order to perceive said magnetic properties. Thus, the technology of the Redemit, which picks up the magnetic fields of the Axial Stars, serve as compasses that guide them, allowing them to explore and map vast regions within the Known Universe, as well as help them detect which part of the Universe they are in, judging from the distance to the stars' magnetic fields. There are eight quadrants in the Known Universe: High Northwest, High Northeast, High Southwest, High Southeast, Low Northwest, Low Northeast, Low Southeast and Low Southwest. Each of them is vast and contains dozens of galaxies.

Time in the Known Universe follows a standarized calendar. There are eight months in total which make up a standard cosmic year, each named after the mythical holy blades believed to be wielded by Aradain: Kalibras, Aronda, Cairn, Galthen, Karnan, Talandar, Calforts, Kalibar. Each of these months consists of four cycles, which in turn consist of eleven periods of twenty-four hours, each of which has a name corresponding to the ancient Cathedrals of the Lost Realm: Marcuth, Vaen, Gaea, Mares, Hareter, Sator, Ranos, Tunos, Luto, Selenis, Eliosol. However, there are also localized time scales revolving around the seasons of a given planet (if at all applicable; otherwise, the cosmic scale is used). So, for example, in a given planet, one may find themselves on Cairn 14, Gaea 2, Winter 7, 1014.

While it is true that not many yet venture beyond the limits of the Known Universe, some already have, finding many previously uncharted planets and new races and civilizations alien to the Redemit. Relations with these new races are uneasy, but stable for the most part.
Image

The technology of the Redemit is incredibly advanced in some aspects, to the point of being mind-boggling, but it has been completely neglected in others to the point of driving certain technologies to nonexistence. The Cathedrals that have been mentioned so extensively are partially or totally terraformed planetary citadels created by the Redemit in order to inhabit them or otherwise utilize them for other purposes such as industry. They are protected by a variety of defensive measures, such as a shield matrix to keep away small objects in collision course and protect the Cathedral's inhabitants from any unorthodox ammount of radiation and such, or enormous cannons called Eyes of Aradain, which are sufficient to deal with most types of greater threats. The Pegasii, mounts of Knights and Mages alike, are powerful hoverbikes capable of space flight, more often than not with metallic wings containing additional thrusters and sometimes able to carry more than one passenger.

In addition, Knights and Mages have access to powerful equipment. Their armors are manufactured in such way and with such materials that they are both extremely durable and lighter than one would think, at least by Redemit standards. They themselves aren't able to stop energy weapons in their tracks, but they are quite useful in stopping lesser threats and keeping their wearers alive in extreme conditions, not to mention they are capable of projecting energy shields in response to an attack by an energy weapon, thus stopping the attack. These reactive energy barriers are powered by a battery held within the armor, and though they can run out, they can also be recharged. The armors themselves can be summoned in a variety of ways. Some are worn as a small pack which spreads out to cover the user as tessellated armor, while others are placed in Hyperspace Storage Units and summoned from there by speaking a codeword. They are often similar to the armors of medieval times, but with a futuristic look. They may or may not have a variety of add-ons such as thrusters or grappling hooks, though they often do not.

On the other hand, Knights wield powerful energy weapons which are capable of cleaving through most types of matter, though they will collide as normally with energy shields or other energy weapons. These arms are, in fact, skeletons of actual weaponry which are capable of emitting energy blades when activated in order to serve their purpose. They can be worn and carried along while de-activated or, much like armors, stored in Hyperspace Storage Units and summoned with a codeword, the weapon's "name." Like armors, their energy is fed by batteries, which can run out, but can be recharged on the field as well. In addition, they convert the force with which they were swung into additional energy so as to conserve their own and wear thin that of the enemy's weaponry and armor. There exist shields and special pieces of armor which counteract this effect and turn it against the weapon in question, causing it to deteriorate instead, thus making battle more interesting.

Some of these weapons are as advanced as to possess an AI of their own.

On the contrary, projectile and ranged weaponry are restricted to the Eyes of Aradain that protect the Cathedrals and a variety of hunting utensils, and are never used for combat, on account of being branded as unjust and cowardly by the followers of the God-Knight Aradain.
Image

The magic of the Redemit can be traced back to the ancient times of the warring Humans, when Mael, King of the Wizards, ruled over all those who could wield the power of magic like him. Magic is the result of extensive experimentation, biotechnological research and genetic engineering. It comes from a technology which enables the subjects to manipulate the forces around themselves and their environment as they pleased, and it was inserted into the genes of Humanity long ago, before they became the Redemit. As such, it pretty much lies dormant in the body of every Redemit, though it takes great training to unlock this potential and master it, not to mention the great ammounts of energy that magic consumes, which means that Mages must either achieve such levels of energy by themselves or have a power source handy at all times. The technology to create and insert magic into living creatures has long since been lost, but magic lives on in the Redemit.

Naturally, there are different schools of magic among the Redemit, but the vast majority of Mages only devote themselves to the first. Only Mael, King of the Wizards, was said to have mastered all four. First of these schools is the school of Energy Magic, by far the most common of them all, and in most cases, the most useful as well. Most Redemit are capable of using it even without training to a small degree, enabling things such as small energy transfers. Energy Magic consists in the alteration of the energies surrounding the user. There are a variety of methods to activate this type of magic, some still known and some long lost, but it is commonly activated through codewords. It is, in fact, the only widespread school of magic, for the other three are tremendously difficult to master and rarely found at all. Time or 'Cronos' Magic is still in a primitive state and few follow its doctrine. Gravity or 'Void' Magic became extinct after the only civilization known to possess the lengthy codewords and chants needed to activate it, the Abyssmals, sacrificed themselves to seal the Dragon's Gate. And the users of the ever-elusive Physis Magic known to have existed can be counted on one hand.

The Order of the Phantom Blade utilizes Energy Magic, naturally, and it is this school of magic which is taught at the Silver Hand Academy.

The School

Cathedral Arcadia, known as the Crimson Citadel for its red skies, lies in the High North of the Known Universe, at the fringes of the Phantom Blade's territory. Named after the Red Knight himself, Cathedral Arcadia, founded a hundred years after the end of the Chalice War, is an important asset to the Order of the Phantom Blade. It is a rocky planet of lush green forests and large mountains, not only fit but also eager to support life, which is quite abundant in it. Furthermore, it has plenty of fertile lands and is quite rich in resources, which has allowed the Cathedral to remain mostly self-sufficient, only occasionally requiring to order products from outside. However, by far the most important thing in Cathedral Arcadia is the Silver Hand Academy. Created by the Red Knight's brother three hundred and forty-three years after the founding of the Cathedral, the Silver Hand Academy, though humble in its beginning, slowly but steadily grew, acquiring most of the Cathedral for its use as it proved time and time again to be one of the best academies in the Phantom Blade's territory.

In the present day, the Silver Hand Academy practically owns Cathedral Arcadia with all of its industries, facilities and territories, and is the most important academy of the Order of the Phantom Blade, admitting every year thousands of aspiring trainees from the Phantom Blade and beyond to one of its several branches on Arcadia's surface. Only the best and most talented ever graduate and walk away from its halls with honor, and it is regarded by many, regardless of Order or affiliation, to be the best place for the training of Mages and Knights alike. In addition, thanks to the Cathedral's self-sufficiency, aspiring Knights and Mages are provided with nearly all of the required equipment, as well as lodging and sustenance in situ, all of it provided by the Academy's own assets in Arcadia. Throughout the planet, many training facilities are laid out strategically both for the convenience of the students and for the sake of their training, and its teachers are some of the best Knights and Mages in the Order. Presently, the Academy's current council is headed by one Augustus Alistar.

It is here where you have been admitted, and it is here where your life will change.
Image

As mentioned, you will be attending to the Silver Hand Academy, a prestigious institution where Knights and Mages of the Phantom Blade and beyond are sent to train to become the best soldiers of all. Throughout Cathedral Arcadia are located several branches of the Academy, where different groups of students are sent to train. One such branch, the Northern Branch, is where the students of the new generation will be. The Northern Branch, pictured above, is located above the water, accessible only by air or sea. The Northern Branch of the Silver Hand Academy is fitted with a hangar for incoming and outgoing aircrafts, including but not limited to the students' Pegasii. Located above the top floor is a small cafeteria where students can request any sort of meal from the AI operating there, provided the Academy possesses the ingredients necessary at the time. Then, of course, are the various student common rooms and dormitories, where students are free to eat, study, interact, rest and relax. It should be noted that, unless in these areas or the student dorm hallways, students are expected to wear their uniforms* at all times, unless on festive occasions.

Down below, in the second floor, an enormous, pristine auditorium serves as the scenario for any sort of ceremonial activities that take place in the school. Large fields indoors, fitted with several technological devices for the convenience of the students, serve as the training areas for Knights and Mages alike, and a larger, more ornate one serves as the arena for any sort of tournament held within the school. Naturally, there is also a swimming area and an undersea observatory for the leisure of the students, as well as for research purposes of the staff. Several libraries are located close to the top floor for the more studious and inquisitive students. For those who find themselves injured on school grounds, there is an advanced medical ward in the branch as well. Finally, on every student dormitory floor, there is an armory where the students' equipment is stored.

Speaking of equipment, as mentioned previously, the school provides the students with most of their equipment, manufactured on Cathedral Arcadia itself. Their armors** are state-of-the-art crafts by the standards of the Phantom Blade, possessing a great energy capacity, powerful shield generators and protective plates of good quality while still allowing quite a bit of maneuverability. Aside from providing students with their armors, the school also provides them with Pegasii. Swift as any other, and perhaps even more so, these Pegasii are quite efficient and sturdy, shielded against most forms of interference that could disrupt their functions and equipped with some of the best magnetic receptors and the most recent map data.

The students, themselves, are organized by seniority, ranging from first year students to tenth year students. Each year is, at the same time, divided into several small groups. First year students, recruits, are assigned an eighth year student, an aspirant, to guide them during their first three years at the Academy and serve as a mentor of sorts, which is both beneficial to the recruits and part of the aspirant's training. Once said three years pass, the aspirant graduates and the recruits become trainees who must continue on through their time in the Academy by themselves, though they will remain in the same group. Finally, after four years of being trainees, they become aspirants and must take on a group of recruits to guide for three years before graduating, thus closing the circle. The numbers balance themselves out, as a fraction of the students is often unable to pass judgement and advance to the higher grades. Some students who excel in their training are known to be adopted as staff members a few years after their graduation. Others can become soldiers of the Phantom Blade but receive further specialized training by part of the school's staff.

Regarding training, the range of subjects taught at the Silver Hand academy is a wide one indeed. Naturally, there are several combat aptitude classes, all adjusted to the different types of students the academy accepts every year. There are, thus, different classes for different types of melee combat and magical aptitude, though students with an inclination for both combat modes are allowed to take any class of either group. In addition to combat training, however, there are also several combat theory classes regarding subjects such as fighting techniques, battle strategies and magic theory. Of course, subjects less oriented towards battle are also a necessity, and thus, the academy hosts classes regarding matters such as the philosophy and history of the Order, as well as the understanding and maintenance of one's own equipment, and various survival courses and other academic subjects.

There are, in addition to the already mentioned ones, many other training facilities laid out strategically throughout the planet, as well as many other branches of the Silver Hand Academy acting separately from each other. Often, students travel from one to another from time to time.

*The buttons are black and the trimming is silver. Also, the uniform bears the emblem of the Phantom Blade, pictured in the Phantom Blade section of the backstory, on the right side of the chest. And ignore the tie.
**The armor's lights are red instead of yellow, and they bear the Phantom Blade's emblem on the chest as well.

Energy: It is the stamina of a person. It determines how long they can perform intense physical or mental tasks. A person without energy cannot fight or perform the simplest of magic.
Endurance: It is the physical resistance of a person. It determines how healthy and resilient to damage and disease they are. A person without endurance is sickly and frail.
Readiness: It is the capacity of action and reaction of a person. It determines how fast they can do something or react to a threat. A person without readiness is slowy and clumsy.
Awareness: It is the sensorial perception of a person. It determines what they can perceive and in how much detail. A person without awareness is blind to their surroundings.

Ability Attributes

New characters may invest 4 points in their Ability Attributes. Each point invested in either category gives you 2 points to spend in proficiency with a specific weapon type/energy magic subtype of your choosing. The two main categories (Weapons Proficiency and Magic Proficiency) both start at 1 (these do give you points to spend on each category).

Weapon Proficiency: Determines which types of energy weapons your character is skilled with. New characters can only insert up to 3, and invest up to 5 points in any single one.
Magic Proficiency: Determines which subtypes of energy magic your character is skileld with. New characters can only insert up to 3, and invest up to 5 points in any single one.

NOTE: Leave blank any weapon/magic slots that remain unused.

List Of Random Facts Zark Has Come Up With During The Course Of The Roleplay

  • The Lawful Orders of the Known Universe are ruled by the Apostolic Council, formed by the leaders of the Orders which were founded by one of the twelve disciples of Aradain. These Orders are called Apostolic Orders. An example of these is the Order of the Phantom Blade, founded by Lady Sylvalladine, one of the twelve.
  • The Orders of the Known Universe that allign with Aradain's teachings and/or are at peace with the Apostolic Council and its protegees and allies are called Lawful Orders. The Orders that reject Aradain's teachings and/or are at war with the Apostolic Council and/or its protegees and allies are called Lawless Orders. These include the various Orders that make up the Heathen Host of the dragon worshippers. There's a third kind of Orders which are mostly made up of knight-errants and are neutral on the lawful/lawless conflict. They are considered lawless, but not dangerous.
  • Non-combatants from a Lawless Order are left alone by the Lawful Orders so long as they don't try to support the lawless. Combatants from Lawless Orders are imprisoned, sometimes executed.
  • People without an Order are called drifters. A drifter will usually be respected by the lawful, as long as they respect them in turn, though the lawful are not obligated to protect drifters like they are obligated to protect their own people.
  • Darksiders is the shit.
  • The naming system of the people of the Order of the Phantom Blade states that a child will inherit the family name of the parent whose genes have a stronger presence in the child (e.g. if a redhead guy and a blonde girl mate and the child is a redhead, the child will adopt the redhead's family name). This can only be overridden if the 'winning' parent wishes for the child to have the other parent's family name instead, or if either of the parents is of noble descent, in which case the child will always adopt the noble family name.
  • Noble families in the Order of the Phantom Blade are formed by the descendants of Arches, highest-ranking soldiers of the Phantom Host. Royalty, on the other hand, is only ever held by the ruling Aurex/Auregin and their relatives.
  • There's vampires, giants and angels out there somewhere.
  • There's an anti-magic system in place in the school that disrupts potentially lethal magic.
  • All combat-related actions are affected by General Abilities. Blow strength, for example, is determined by END and RDN. Speed is determined by RDN, but how long you can run is determined by ENG. Exerting constant strength, like pushing or bending steel like you say, would be influenced by END and ENG. Leaping would be determined by RDN. Stuff like accuracy would be determined by FOC and AWR. Counterattacks or parries by FOC, RDN and AWR, along with weapon proficiencies. Casting magic would involve FOC and magic proficiencies. Casting while moving would require more FOC and involve RDN, along with magic proficiencies. So basically the more complicated the action, the more stats it will likely involve.
  • As you can tell, I like abbreviations. FOC is Focus. END is Endurance. ENG is Energy. RDN is Readiness. AWR is Awareness. Now you can't say I didn't tell you.
  • We're all insane.
  • Random dates: Arcadia was founded on year 114 AD (After Dragons). The present Headmaster was born on 271 AD. The Silver Hand Academy was founded on 457 AD. The current headmaster obtained his position on 525 AD. The roleplay begins on Cairn 12, Marcuth 2, 1014 AD.
  • The most finely crafted of energy blades are known to have AIs inside of them, enabling them to communicate. However, these weapons are rare, as befits their power and craftsmanship.
  • The symbol of the Phantom Blade represents the unity of blade and spell, and the honor and blood of the fallen.
  • Though this is by no means a law or an unspoken rule, most of the people of the Phantom Blade cremate their dead, believing that this helps the soul vacate the body. They, however, still raise gravestones to honor and remember their fallen, and bury the ashes to help nurture the earth. Overgrown cemeteries are not an uncommon sight.

Yes. If nothing else, then at least for the moment. I assume as the story progresses I may or may not allow other things, but for now only Redemit.

Genetic tampering was a thing, though, so, if you want your character to look a certain way, you could chalk any anomalies up to that.

Character Application
Name: Ellyn Tarembor
Appearance: A golden mane of hair, along with brown, almost honey gold eyes.
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 19
Likes/Dislikes:
Likes: Swords, spears, Lady Sylvalladine, Strength, Courage, Honor, Loyalty
Dislikes: Poison, traitors, bullies. Lackeys, Slavery, cowards.
Bio: Ellyn grew up in the territory of Acrea, within the Phantom Blade. Her father, being a smith often allowed Ellyn, his only child, to watch as he made energy weapons and suits for traveling Knights and Mages. As she grew up around the weapons, Ellyn established a love for them, and though her father wouldn't let her play with them due to her mother's belief that it was not becoming of a lady, she was often seen escaping from her studies out the window, before running of into the forest to pretend she was Lady Sylvalladine, her personal hero, practicing and playing with long sticks. Eventually her mother relented and allowed Ellyn to train with the spares and models that her father Iseril used. It soon became apparent that Ellyn had an unusual skill with the blade and spear for a female. She honed her abilities by devoting most of her time to it, getting stronger by working alongside her father in the forge and running 2 miles each day. Afterwards, she would train in her sword forms, holding the blade for hours in a few positions and starting slow before going faster and faster. At age 17, she forged her own energy blade and spear, named Dawnbreaker and Silverthorn. Soon after, she entered into a local tournament, and to her surprise, actually won. After a few more tournaments resulting in victories or nigh victories, she received a letter from the Silver Hand Academy, inviting her. Shocked, she obviously accepted, and so, the journey began.

Character Application
Name: Yuuki Asuna Kiri Illýsir Elanar Aspirlacial
Appearance:
Image

Gender: Female
Age: 18
Likes:
  • Naps
  • Flying
  • Hitting others with swords
  • Fire
  • Cooking
  • Reading
  • Fangirling
  • Parading about in ridiculous outfits
Dislikes:
  • Early mornings
  • Repetitive tasks
  • Studying
  • Being formal
  • Infomercials
  • Dairy products
  • Mayonnaise
Bio:
Kiri was born on Cathedral Kusanagi, another of the Phantom Blade's worlds, and unlike most of my characters enjoyed a fairly unperturbed childhood with actual friends. Her closest companions were not as skilled at combat as she, preferring more academic pursuits to her sword-swinging, and as such she's decided to make a good impression on this latest unlucky set of classmates. She's outgoing and generally friendly, though a bit flippant at times and with a tendency to forget the details of a plan or situation. Fiercely loyal to those who she gets along with, Kiri is also not unattractive. . .

Her parents, heads of the Aspirlacial family, made sure since birth that she would enjoy nothing but the best education and all the comforts her relatively wealthy family could buy her. She has two younger sisters, both of whom took more readily to the mercantile profession of her father, while she herself takes after her uncle, a self-styled "knight-errant" sometimes in the employ of the Phantom Blade– when not fired for some obnoxious comment or indiscretion.
At age twelve she was given a low-powered energy sword her uncle had acquired elsewhere, which she hid for three months until her parents confiscated it in the wake of an incident involving fire, nudity and a swordfight– though not necessarily in that order. This cemented Kiri's love of swinging weapons about, and made her seem even cooler to her small group of semi-nerdy friends at her foundational school. By this point– and after six years of terror– her parents have relented and sent her off to the Silver Hand Academy, focusing their attentions on her younger sisters.

Additional Information: Nothing of great importance. This is partially because I don't feel the need to come up with everything she has right now, nor do I want to expend the effort to detail every aspect of her character. Too constricting.
RP Sample:

Good thing I reminded you then. :P

There's a couple things here. Firstly, you seem to have underspent (if that makes any sense) points. Given that the sum of your character's stats are equal to what you could spend, though, I think I know what the problem is. You seem to have missed the part where it says that all stats are by default at 1 (This is in the Powergrid Information spoiler). You can easily adjust this by bumping up all your stats by 1, if you want to keep them more or less as they are, or you can change how you're spending them while keeping this in mind (note that this would also give you more weapon and magic ability points if you fix this problem but otherwise keep those as they are).

Second, you're supposed to put down something more specific in magic, like plasma or heat magic or telekinesis. :P

Would telekinesis be gravity magic?

No problem.

The Starlight wrote:Would telekinesis be gravity magic?

No. Gravity magic is a whole different school of magic and it's off-limits anyway, :P. Plus telekinesis deals with energy, which makes it part of the energy school of magic. I can further clarify if you want me to.

Actually, do you think the OP makes it confusing to understand this? Because if so, I should probably reword it.

You seem to have fixed everything, yes, but now your character's energy sword ability is one point over the top. :P

Aside from that, however, Ellyn is accepted.

Ok, thanks for everything. :) I'll just edit that and add in telekinesis.

No problem. Though now you have an unspent point in weapons. I think I'll just pretend it's on energy spear and go work on the character list. You're already accepted anyway. First character we have, too. :P
