Biography:
Born July 8, 1997, Sterling and his brother, Kent, grew up in the Belkan city of Craydon, where they had a relatively normal upbringing (or as normal as one could have in Belka). They enlisted together in the Blekan flight academy at the age of 19. After showing a high degree of skill in low-level flight, Sterling entered the Belkan Strike Fighter school, while Kent entered fighter school.
During training processes, Recruit Pilot Kent Schütze was killed in an accident, in which his F-4 suffered critical systems failure, and was unable to eject as his aircraft fell. Sterling, meanwhile, was placed in the 6th Air Division, 63rd Bombardment Squadron. In training he had shown significant skill in evasion of enemy ground fire, bombardier skills, and had excellent understanding of weapon systems.
The death of his brother concealed from him, Sterling remained on active duty, assuming his brother was stationed elsewhere.
During the Sapinese War against Ratio and Ustio, Sterling flew a high number of sorties, and distinguished himself as a master in suppressing the enemies air defences, destroying forward radar sights, SAM batteries, and command and control systems. Flying alongside the 229th Tactical Fighter Squadron "Grabacr", Sterling and the 63rd remained relatively shadowed by Grabacars legendary feats of air-to-air prowess.
At some point, Sterling learned of the death of his brother, which had been hidden from him for some years.Only as the war drew to a close was a letter indicating his brother had been killed in action delivered to him, by an unknown source. After some investigation, it was shown that the government had chosen to hide Kents death, known only to a small number of people. For some time following, Sterling planned to defect, disillusioned with the war and the Belkan government. Before executing a plan to escape however, a pilot from the 229th Tactical escaped with a MiG-25. In the resulting confusion, Sterling simply disappeared, before reappearing sometime later with his assumed name, and a new life.
Upon the formation of the Mercenary Airforce, Sterling enlisted, feeling a certain lack in life. Though generally considered a calm and cool individual, he feels the need to constantly push his limit, and had gained a certain reputation as being brave, if not slightly mad. One for conversation, Sterling is quite the talker, something well known to most of his squadron mates. As a result of a story he frequently tells, in which he managed to convince a member of a specific royal family to do something they undoubtedly regret, Sterling prefers to go by the callsign Duchess, though there is some indication this is merely a translation of his previous call sign, Herzogin six.
