Course, there were no other Mobius planes until later, so maybe he just commanded himself? :P

Mobius 1 was the only pilot in the entire 118th Tactical Fighter Wing until the very end.

No he was the only plane in Mobius squadron.

No. I already know how. I forget the name of it, but similar technology to whats used in a very large multi-national mock air battle. Real military aircraft, real military personnel, fake weapons and a massive computer system that decides what hits and who dies, etc.

I'm just saying, it was a plane built around a 30mm cannon. Unless my 30 mm fires heat seeking HEAT projectiles I think I'm screwed in a dog fight. To paraphrase an earlier comment I have the dogfightin capability a of a school bus with wings taped on.

Man has a point. Perhaps a purely air to air test isn't the way to go.

What would be interesting is a test forcing us to work together more than something purely competitive, in my opinion. The A-10 needs our protection. We fail, he dies, we lose. Theres a multitude of ways we can incorporate several members aircraft's uses into this test.

You're a mission objective. :P

Now that idea I like, give me a target... Maybe some type of SAM, so that we are co-dependent on each other.

but, you can't. Ground strike aircraft go in their own flight, and will be the last numbers on the total list. They'll have their own separate little thing.

If the situation for pilots is THAT desperate that some pilots can not be spared to act as an opposing force, then we shouldn't even be having a mock dogfight, we should be thrown into the line immediately.

I do not mean this to be rude, but there's a lot of things being done that aren't being thought through.

Edit: Unless I'm mistake, you're a pilot in the squadron too, as well as the OP, and all the power that entails. As such, how do we fairly decide the winners of the exercise? If people were predisposed to argue over they're number assignment, I surely don't anticipate people accepting losing very easily.

I do not mean this to be rude, but there's a lot of things being done that aren't being thought through.

You want to take them away from critical missions allowing the rest of Usean forces to gather and prepare for a counterattack? That's what's so desperate, command is more concerned about getting those men home to fight another day, and without getting slaughtered by airstrikes, that they aren't going to spare anyone. Honestly, i dunno what Fin had in mind when he wrote this, but this is what i'm taking from it.

And tbh, i wasn't going to do this in the first place. But it was being discussed way more than i thought was necessary do it being mostly irrelevant right now, so i made something up for it.

EDIT2: Which is why everyone needs to get to briefing so the current things happening can be explained and everyone can know. Also cause i kinda feel like an asshole having to explain matter-of-factly to people who don't have any clue yet. And it really bothers me to feel like that.

EDIT3: They write their actions, and i do my best to pretend i'm that supercomputer that decides what does and does not happen. Can't argue with a supercomputer. I considered just throwing them out there and let the numbers assign themselves as skill becomes apparent, but the idea of a squadron with little structure like that didn't feel right.

...all the more reason to dispense with this useless examination and through these already trained pilots into the line.

From an OOC standpoint, the squadron numbers are just fucking numbers, people. They have no baring on your ability to post, they (shouldn't) have any effect on your ability to write and post for enjoyment. The "proper" response to the "hur but the numbers" discussion was "get over it.", and not making something doesn't matter into an issue, and certainly not making things more complicated and convoluted than they needed to be.

ICly, the numbers still don't really mean anything, aside from Lidrec 1, of course. We're not in the military, rank is meaningless. We're not even working for a PMC, so we don't even have a corporate hierarchy to go by. We're mercs, this is about prestige, money, and fame, or maybe for honor and glory.

Your lieutenant character (who's already come off as quite the ass hat) or whoever represenitng ISAF, is our
commander, and should literally just assigned placement and ranks, given that thats the most expedient thing for them to do to move us through in processing and getting us onto doing something useful and earning our pay. I seriously doubt ISAF gives two shits if the best pilots in the squadron are recognized for their skill, there is a war on, no time to be baby pilots and their sensitive egos. :P As long as discipline is maintained (those dudes with the guns are doing that) then were doing what were paid to do, feelings be damned

Its important to remember we aren't heroes, or important, yet. We're just mercs, probably looked down upon, utterly expendable. No ones going to bother trying to make us feel good. Literally, the most expedient way, and what makes the most sense ICly, is to draw straws. We get through in-processing with the minimal amount of fuss, and get the hell out to the line where we can do some good, or die.

(PLUS, this allows for animosity to develop between the characters, leading to fruiterer character development and storytelling....which is kind of the point isn't it? To tell an interesting story?)

Im thinking about applying.

Now, I see some aircraft have variants listed, but others do not. Does this mean that I need to use the baseline version, are there versions im not allowed to use, or its open to the OP to determine if its allowed or not?
